ABOUT SOME REASONS OF TRANSLATOR’S TRANSFORMATIONS OF FICTION
Two translations of A. P. Chekhov’s narrative “A Dreary Story” into the French language are described; realization of a basic concept dreary and its semantic components (monotony and estrangement) are in the center of the author’s attention. Some difficulties connected with some objective features of the language and complexity of the work itself are analyzed.
