1711 | The paper presents experimental data on the methane emissions from West Siberian middle taiga oligotrophic hollows. Studied fluxes vary considerably from –0.08 to 58 mgС·m–2·h–1 (median is 2.76 mgС·m–2·h–1). Received data are consolidated in the scope of «standard model» Bc8 conception of methane emission. The model contains medians of CH4 flux distributions on seven different microlandscape types depending on their area and duration of methane emission in the respective zones. The total flux from the middle taiga oligotrophic hollows is 0.37 TgC or approximately 70 % of CH4 total flux from middle taiga mires. Version Bc8 of this model estimates the value of yearly CH4 emission from mires of whole Western Siberia as 2.93 TgC·yr–1 that accounts for around 2.4 % of the total mire methane emission. 1717 | The article presents an analysis of the linguistic means of expression of semantics of mental and physical states and their functional load in the stories by L. S. Petrushevskaya. In the process of representation of the studied semantics the traditional two-component models (the predicate and the carrier of the state) are characteristic of the syntactic level, on the semantic level attention focuses on the degree of intensity and depression. The simplicity of language means of expression is one of the key characteristics of creative works by L. S. Petrushevskaya. Conversational vocabulary, abundant urban slang, simple sentences, short gloomy phrases of the characters create a special artistic world of the author. In characters’ feelings expression there are no middle, neutral, «etiquette» of emotions, there is always felt anguish and emotional intensity: loved, wept, hard, etc. Hate is expressed indirectly, through the prism of despair and powerlessness. An analysis of the semantics of language means of expression in L. S. Petrushevskaya’s stories states the evidence of their artistic significance in the process of describing characters’ images. Laconic and simple shapes clearly highlight the depth of the feelings and experiences of the characters, the description of the emotional, physical and mental state generates a representation of the inner world of the characters, their perception of reality. The research aims at exploring conceptual metaphors and metonymies verbalizing the concepts which model the development of civilizations of Great Britain and the USA during the period of the First and the Second world wars. The research is based on P. Buchanan’s “Churchill, Hitler, and the Unnecessary War”. The methods employed include component, definition and conceptual types of analysis, metaphor modelling and critical discourse analysis. Complex analysis consisting of metaphor modelling, conceptual, definition and component types of analysis presents the following results: metaphor models (Civilization as Personality, Civilization as Expansivity, Civilization as Self-control, Barbarism as Degradation) verbalize the concepts of “civilization” and “barbarism” in a certain cultural-historic context. The identification of concomitant metaphors and metonymies (Great Britain as Cow, Great Britain as Great Lady, Great Britain as Debtor, Great Britain as Slattern the USA as Sheriff, Dresden etc.) verifies the data obtained. Moreover, the investigation explores the role of metonymy Great Britain is the USA as motivator for dynamic processes in discourse. The method of critical discourse analysis which considers discourse as a phenomenon constituting social practice establishes connections between discursive practice and historic events. 1743 | Introduction. This paper investigates the features of intertextuality and intermediality in the artistic narrative for children. Material and research methods. The material of the study is the works of fiction intended for children, published in Russia from 2003 to 2018. Aim and objectives. The aim of the research is to reveal the peculiarities of realization of the most important cultural categories of intertextuality and intermediality in the texts of children’s artistic narrative. The leading method is the method of narrative analysis. Thematic, structural, definitional and discourse analysis methods were used as auxiliary ones. In the course of the study some conclusions of theoretical importance and practical significance were made. Results and discussion. Modern artistic narrative for children is an important element of artistic culture which is characterized by the phenomena of intertextuality and intermediality. The analysis of the works establishes close ties of the modern Russian narrative for children with Russian and foreign classical and modern fiction and culture in general. The enrichment of works with such relations allows their authors to achieve cultural and historical continuity, give a semantic dimension and educational meanings to the text, include modern linguocultural national and foreign knowledge in it. Intertextual and intermedia techniques allow authors of artistic narrative for children to most fully and accurately reveal the main ideas of their works, describe images of their characters, express the features of perception and understanding of modern children’s world, turn their works into a genuine artistic and pedagogical discourse. The categories of intertextuality and intermediality are expressed mainly through citations, allusions, reminiscences, proverbs and sayings. Conclusion. Thus, the narrative as the main strategy of creating a literary text for children allows to realize its most important linguistic and didactic potential, on the one hand, and its categories of intertextuality and intermediality permit to fully reveal the specifics of children’s consciousness, their perception of the world, value preferences and, ultimately, contribute to the implementation of the basic – educational – function, on the other. 1744 | Our task in this paper is to point out some stages in the development of narrativist turn in philosophy of history. We argue that the narrativist theme now moved away from what were formerly dominant perspectives focused primarily on literary texts and moved towards analysis of narratives as our primary way of organizing our experience of time and life. In philosophy of history that turn was formulated in agonistic relationship to Hempelian covering-law models. W.H. Dray has written that one of the best means of explaining a change is to trace the course of events by which it came about. The new step was realized by L. Mink. Mink criticized concept of following a story elaborated by W. B. Gallie and asserted configurational character of narrative activity. He says that the author derives the structure from telling the story itself, not from the events it relates. And developing this idea H. White concluded that historians draw on the «plot-structure» identified by N. Frye as Romance, Comedy, Tragedy and Satire. D. Carr says that it is an «escape» from reality. He stresses continuity between narrative and everyday life and recon-figurational character of historical and fictional narrative.
