Bykonya Valentina Viktorovna Fragments of the Mental Culture of the Selkup People through Nomination of Mythic Characters. // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2006. Issue 4 (55). P. 133-140

The paper suggests an etymological analysis of the proper names of heroes – characters of “heroes’ songs”, and mythological and folklore images. As it was found out the nominative units origin from stems meaning “magic, sorcery”, “witchcraft”, “fortunetelling”. The names, in their turn, form a semantic base for verbs meaning “beat”, “knock, whack”, “crush”, “twist, screw”, “roll”, i.e. – verbs denoting heavy physical impact onto the subject. The harder the applied effort is, the more malicious is the mythic character. The analysis of names of mythic ancestors, good and wicked spirits, sorcerers, magicians and wizards showed that they are widely represented in the system of nomination and in the system of word building of the Selkup language.

The article describes the experience of the informatization of foreign language education at the university. Five stages of this process resulted in the generated information and communication competence of teachers, development of e-learning courses based on different technologies and e-learning formats. The author shows that the computerization of education is a long-term, continuous and consistent process that requires systemic and stakeholder actions both on the part of the administration of the university and its faculty. In practice, it was verified that in a weak material and technical base the informatization of education can and should begin with professional development of teachers in ICT. In the course of this study it was also proved that hybrid or blended learning technology, combining traditional face-to-face classes with remote access to electronic educational resources, is preferable in teaching foreign languages.

Its text forming potential and important role in creating a fictional text is shown in the article. Narrative deixis correlates with nearly all the categories of the text of fiction – philosophical, grammatical and textual, which are subdivided in the article into structural, semantic and conceptual. Correlation of the narrative deixis with all categories in the fictional text proves its high status in it.

The density of energy flux of electromagnetic field generated by precessing magnetic dipole at arbitrary distance from the dipole is analyzed. It is shown that in the far field approximation only radial component of the Poynting vector exists, and it represents the intensity of radiation. In the near zone the Poynting vector has not only radial but also sufficient azimuth component. The pattern of field energy flux distribution is constructed. The obtained results can be used at research of dynamics of atmosphere of magnetized celestial bodies.

The article is devoted to the perspectives for the application of speech act theory in the sphere of translation studies. The material of analysis comprises the authentic juridical texts and their Russian translations. The equivalent translation of the juridical texts is based upon the principle which presupposes saving the illocutionary force of the original speech act. The illocutionary force is treated as the legal force of a document, producing the the equivalent target perlocutionary effect both on the primary text recipient and on the secondary text recipient (who is not a native speaker).

As mandatory skills that ensure the communicative nature of the individual, the FSES emphasizes the ability to consciously use speech tools in accordance with the task of communication to express their feelings, thoughts and needs, to plan and regulate their activities; ability to use oral and written speech, monologic contextual speech. The content of communicative competence is the ability to set and solve a certain type of communicative tasks that is the use of the acquired knowledge, skills, and skills of speech activity in practice. The importance of development of communicative skills and abilities for successful socialization, adaptation and self-realization in the society is noted. The notions “communicative actions”, “communicative abilities and skills”, “communicative competence” are specified. The necessity of teaching the genre composition in view of the FSES requirements to the formation of the communicative competence of the students is substantiated. The results of experimental work on the formation of genre-communicative skills of students on the example of teaching essays as a genre of writing are presented. Teaching essays is chosen as a key to provide a modern man with necessary skills in his speech practice. The presented method of teaching essay is built on the activation of the personal experience of students. In the learning process, spe cial methods for the development of associative thinking, traditional and non-standard methods of developing communicative abilities and skills are used. The developed and tested technique allowed to get a high level of communication abilities and skills of high school students.

Introduction. The concept of a toponym as a marker of the geographical space and the role of toponymy in the scientific system are revealed. The role of the toponym included as a component of the phraseological unit and the cultural value of these idioms are determined. The relevance of the research, its purpose and novelty are substantiated. Material and methods. The research material is the phraseological units of the modern English language with a toponym as a component (213 units). The methods of the study are the statistical method and the method of the linguacultural analysis. Results and discussion. Toponymic phraseological units reflect and verbalize the various segments of the objective reality including the material and spiritual world of a personality. Toponymic phraseological units reveal a person’s attitude to the reality surrounding him/her, a person’s attitude to the people near him/her and the attitude to self. They also analyze the external and internal aspects of the personality, focusing the view on the appearance of a man or woman, on his/her voice, on gait, on mental state of mind, on the moral qualities and the character of a personality. The image of a personality creating by phraseological units can be positive or negative one. Conclusion. Any toponym (especially if it belongs to the “native” culture) has a national identity. It reflects (except the historical, territorial and geographical peculiarities of the nation), the national mentality, character, and specific features of the people’s life. The English phraseological units with a toponym as a component reflect the national identity as well. These idioms are divided into two large groups: 1) those which show the material comforts of the everyday life and 2) those which tell us about the inward habits of the people. Toponymic phraseological units of the second group include six subgroups. Subgroups including the idioms reflecting the people’s attitude to the social reality and to the other people prevail.
