868 | The article dwells on the functional and semantic peculiarities of the so-called semi-suffixational elements and suffixes that have similar meaning. As a result of the comparative analysis of synonymous semi-suffixes and suffixes, the synonymous sets of semi-suffixes correlated with the corresponding sets of suffixes were revealed. It was stated that despite of being functionally and semantically close, possessing common distributional characteristics and sharing to a certain extent the same area of application, these word-building elements can’t be considered as the identical ones. The reason of it is hidden in the specific nature of the meanings of semi-suffixes: the semantics of the latest is not as wide in its denotative part but it shows more variety in its significative part than the semantics of the correlated suffixes. Moreover, suffixes demonstrate a higher degree of generalization of the lexical meaning than semi-suffixes. The author comes to the conclusion about a wider significative meaning of a semi-suffix capable of uniting more semantic characteristics and conceptional relations than the semantics of a suffix; denotative meaning of semi-suffix appeared to be more narrow and limited than the one of a suffix. Thus, significative meaning of semi-suffix contains a greater number of conceptual, semantic features and pragmatic relations. The analyzed lexical unit initially meant sports competitions for athletes affected by paralysis but since 1950-s its meaning has undergone substantial changes due to the extended program of the Paralympic Games. Currently “Paralympics” does not only mean an athletic event for sportspeople with various disabilities, this lexical item is also used to designate the movement uniting able-bodied and disabled athletes, politicians, journalists, etc. It is directed at creating comfortable and friendly environment for people with impairments, helping them realize their potential, involving them in various not necessarily sports activities. The authors have identified new potential for using the productive prefix para- , which was originally a Greek preposition, to designate Paralympic events and disabled athletes, redefined the meaning of the prefix throughout the evolution of the designator (from the idea of an impairment to revealing impressive abilities of para-athletes sometimes exceeding those of able-bodied sportspeople), provided the data on distribution regulations of using the prefix in modern English language and forecast probable expansion of its intensional meaning conformable to expanding content level of the lexical unit “Paralympics” designator. 870 | Everyday life of wartime, or military daily life is one of the new research fields of modern historical science. The study of the events of the war “from the trench”, from the position of the combatant, or – through the eyes of a resident of the rear, who finds himself in harsh conditions of survival – helps to reconstruct the everyday labor and leisure practices, the behavioral motives of people, to more fully and deeper explore the reflection of war in the life of the population, and a separate region. The study of published and unpublished archival documents, including memoirs, letters from the inhabitants of Stavropol Territory during the Great Patriotic War, make it possible to present the scope and scale of such a phenomenon as labor mobilization. The population of the province, as well as the whole country, from the first days of the war was involved in the fulfillment of labor obligations – the construction of defense facilities, fortifications, agricultural work. Heavy physical labor, according to the memories of the participants, was beyond the strength of many women, children, adolescents. For the mobilized there were no life and nutritive conditions created, insanitary conditions prevailed. The schoolchildren, who were called to the factory schools, did not have enough clothes and shoes, poor nutrition was combined with hard work instead of training. Numerous “letters to the authorities” of wartime, including from the front line, are filled with pain and despair about the plight of their families, mobilized for work and being at the limit of survival. In general, labor mobilization, accumulating for the needs of defense the free work of a huge number of people, radically changed the daily life of the population. The hardest, in harsh conditions, shock work became the norm of life, allowing, in the end, to win the war. Keywords: labor mobilization, the Great Patriotic War, the inhabitants of the rear, everyday life, the people of Stavropol | 1387

880 | The effects of a nonsimpiy connected spacetime with the topology of S1 x R3 in the vacua of QED and gauged-NJL theories are investigated. It is shown that the polarization effects of twisted and untwisted fermions in QED are equivalent, once the corresponding stable vacuum solution of each fermion class is taken into account. The photon propagation in QED is found to be anisotropic and characterized by several massive photon modes and a superluminal transverse mode. At small compactification radius the masses of the massive modes increase as the inverse of the radius, while the massless photon mode has a superluminal velocity that increases logarithmically with that distance. At low energies the photon masses lead to an effective confinement of the gauge fields into a (2+i)-dimensional manifold transverse to the compactified direction. In the gauged-NJL model, it is shown that for both twisted and untwisted fermions, the smaller the compactification radius, the larger the critical four-fermion coupling needed to generate a fermion-antifermion chiral symmetry breaking condensate. | 1385
