| 2801 | The article presents a historical review of conceptual works on Cognitive Translation Theory worked out by Russian scientists. It differs from western tradition and has its own specific way of development. The first prerequisites for the formation of a cognitive paradigm in Russian translation studies were observed in 1970–1980, and by the beginning of the 2000s. the cognitive theory of translation is formed with its own purpose, objectives, and subjects. The main trends of cognitive translation study in Russia are identified through the critical analysis. Firstly, some Russian scientists still prefer using the text-centric approach to compare a source text with a target text by methods of cognitive linguistics (concept, frame, scenario etc.). Secondly, others use a translation act as a study subject in the field of translation process. Meanwhile, western scientists are more focused on studying a translation event, which is only future-oriented in Russia. Thirdly, available Russian studies demonstrate polarized logic of formalized and arbitrary approaches to the translation process. The first is aimed at developing patterns in translation activity; the second declares the impossibility of bringing the translator’s cognitive structures into the system. Fourthly, there are 3 specific interactions between the subjects of translation activity (translator as a cognition subject, translator vs author, translator vs reader). The results of translation cognitive scholars are of high theoretical significance and are actively used in the development of artificial intelligence, improving automated translation, understanding the phenomenon of linguistic creativity and introducing innovative approaches into methodology of teaching translation. | 2822 | The aim of the research is the description of the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse, which is represented by phenomenological cognitive structures and linguistic cognitive structures. It provides the differentiation of the notions “scientific medical discourse” and “scientific and popular medical discourse”. The scientific and popular medical discourse is one of the types of the scientific discourse. Material and methods. The methodology of the research is based on the cognitive approach to the phenomenon, its actualization in the discourse proposed by Victoria V. Krasnykh. She states that knowledge and representations are preserved in cognitive structures. The research methods are cultural analysis and descriptive-analytical contextual method. Results and discussion. The results of the research show linguistic means that represent phenomenological cognitive structures that are typical for the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse. Extralinguistic factors influence the discourse. In case of the scientific and popular medical discourse the sphere of doctor-patient communication serves as an extralinguistic factor. The scientific and popular medical discourse has the characteristics of the scientific medical discourse (representatives of which are doctors) and the naïve medical discourse (representatives of which are patients). The strategies that are typical for different types of discourse intersect in the scientific and popular medical discourse. Conclusion. The theoretical significance of the research lies in the fact that results of the research contribute to cognitive linguistics on the questions concerning the study of the scientific and popular medical discourse. The results expand the basis of study of semantics of the scientific and popular medical discourse, means of realization of phenomenological cognitive structures. The suggested typology can be used for the analysis of other types of discourse. The practical significance lies in the fact that the typology of phenomenological cognitive structures characterizes the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse. The author of the scientific and popular medical discourse uses linguistic means taking into consideration linguocultural experience of a linguistic personality. It helps to view the ordinary phenomenon from the unusual perspective. The article presents the examples of realization of phenomenological cognitive structures that reflect cultural views of the society. Phenomenological cognitive structures represent cultural values in the transformed way. Leffler and Sofia Kovalevskaya’s (the younger) memories. The gender approach reveals a consistent inversion of traditional female roles in the fate of Kovalevskaya: unloved daughter, fictitious wife and nontypical mother, female scientist. For the analysis were taken the following works: the literary autobiography of Sofia Kovalevskaya «The Childhood Memories», the book «Sofia Kovalevskaya» by Anne Charlotte Leffler and the work «The Memories of Mother» by S. Kovalevskaya (the younger). S.V. Kovalevskaya’s «The Childhood Memories» reflects the first thirteen years of her life. The article deals with the role of family atmosphere in little Sonya’s personality development: the attitude of her mother, father, sister, governess, male relatives to her. Through childhood events both awareness of herself as an «unloved» daughter and at the same time a desire to prove that she is worth being loved and respected can be traced. As the title implies the article describes general research context of the phenomenon and focuses on the research of the Russian-language emigrant newspapers. In general research the context of the phenomenon of the Russian language abroad, basic approaches and research aspects are analyzed. The analysis of approaches and aspects is based on research works published in Russia since 1990s. The author refers to sociolinguistic, lingvocultural and intergrated methods of the research to basic approaches. Research aspects of the phenomenon are presented as branches, waves and generations of the Russian emigration. The article provides in detail two branches of the Russian emigration which are differentiated to the geographical principle – the West and the East Russian emigration. It is also reported about the diachronic aspect of the phenomenon of the Russian language abroad – waves of the Russian emigration and the sociolinguistic and language description of their typical representatives are given. In addition to this the synchronic aspect is described – the Russian language of generations within the scope of waves. In the general context of the research phenomenon of the Russian language abroad the author gives much attention to the Russian language of ethnic Germans who emigrated from Russia to Germany in 1990s. The object of the research is modern Russian-language newspapers of Russian Germans who live in Germany. The author analyses the structure of the Russian-language printed emigrant newspaper market in Germany and points out modern tendencies in the Russian language of newspapers of Russian Germans in Germany.
