| 5 | The article considers Apollon Grigorjev's creative work where the complex of moral and esthetic and artistic ide¬as connected with the influence of George Sand was re¬flected. Ap.Grigorjev accepted a new philosophy of love and marriage directed at the revision of traditional no¬tions of «sin», «moral degradation» and «adultery». It is pointed out that the formation of Ap. | 6 | The article is devoted to the interesting phenomenon of Russian cultural life prevalent in the middle of the XIX century, received the name «georgesandism». This term means penetration of the ideas, characters, plots of George Sand’s novels into Russian culture, public consciousness and a love life. The French writer was perceived first of all as a destroyer of Christian and church ideas of «sanctity» and indestructibility of the marriage. The most debatable novels from the point of view of their plot and characters are considered. The early mythological image of George Sand as a «seducer», and «morally depraved person», which was created first of all by «masculine» reception in Russia of 1830’s, is investigated. | 1497 | ||||
| 7 | The article covers the constituents of the patriarchic perception still thriving in the modem Russian culture, and traces the influence of the works of George Sand on its downfall in the 19th century. | 8 | The relevance of studying the translation heritage of N. M. Karamzin consists in his inseparability from the whole work of the great figure of Russian culture. The task of the proposed article is an attempt to generalize the presentation of all translations of Karamzin as a cultural cosmos, which contains dozens of authors, countries and the main continents. He was engaged in translation for over twenty years (he translated about 300 texts), constantly referring not only to European literature, but also to Asian, African and American cultures. The «world-wide responsiveness» of Karamzin as a writer and an interpreter was formed already in the «Moscow Journal» (1791-1792), the edition of a new type taking into consideration the experience of European periodicals. To carry out the novelty Karamzin used the translations thoroughly picked up and correlating with the original pieces. Thanks to the ambivalent role of a writer and a translator Karamzin was able to create an author journal aimed at the maintaining sentimentalism. In the «Messenger of Europe» (1802–1803) by N. M. Karamzin the translations helped to form not only a literary part, but also a section of Politics. Long before the genesis of the concept of «globalism», Karamzin had made an attempt to perceive the world in its unity. He was encouraged by his trip to Europe, personal acquaintance and contacts with the eminent representatives of European culture as well as by his intense translation activity. | 9 | The genre specificity and poetics of George Sand’s monumental autobiography has never been in the focus of Russian scholarly attention. This paper focuses on the history of creation and publication of the work (1847–1855). The author describes the poetics of the French writer’s narrative, employing oratory techniques and amplification, which greatly contributes to its perception. A particular attention is paid to the specificity of female memoirs, which consistently describes the development of the main character in childhood, adolescence, youth and maturity. The paper analyses the original composition of the narrative, in which almost a quarter is devoted to ancestors and parents, with whom George Sand’s character is genetically connected. On the one hand, the heroine of the memoirs is a representative of her generation, with whom she is connected by ties of solidarity. On the other hand, she is a child of the revolutionary era, when a marriage between an aristocrat and a commoner could take place. The author studies the history of the inner life, the “life of the soul” of the main character, which consists in the process of looking for the truth in all spheres of life: true friendship, love, religious and political ideas, moral and aesthetic values, and the meaning of life in general. | 10 | The article reveals the multifaceted activity of I. S. Turgenev as a Russian European, which is considered from different positions: biographical, social, political, philosophical, cultural. The Aim of the paper is to interpret the Genesis of the concept of “Russian European” and its existence in Russian culture; to study the role of the writer in the Russian-European cultural transfer with the involvement of his biography, social, translation activities and artistic creativity. Material and methods. The research methodology was carried out through the use of an integrated approach to the analysis of socio-cultural phenomena and was provided by a system of methods: biographical, historical and literary, historical and functional, cultural,historical and comparative typological. Results and discussion. A systematic approach to the consideration of the stated problem allowed us to study it in synchrony and diachrony, using the principles of dialogicality, discursivity and contextuality. The article presents Turgenev’s long way from the Westerner to the Russian European. His first attempt to make inroads into European society was not quite successful and brought him disappointment. On the contrary, his translation work was successful in order to promote Russian literature in France. And only after the publication of The Hunting Sketches and the novel Rudin in French and German Turgenev becomes famous in the West. The writer’s participation in the dinners of “booed playwrights” was an acknowledgment of his “Russianness” and “Europeanism” at the same time: he organically joined the circle of the French literary elite, while maintaining his special position due to the Russian mentality. Gradually Turgenev becomes more and more close, “his” both for Flaubert and for the generation of “children” (E. Zolà, A. Daudet, G. de Maupassant), who saw him as a friend, literary mentor, even a teacher. The final part of the study presents an analysis of Turgenev’s literary works in connection with the consideration of the typology of characters, correlated with the concept of “Westerners” and “Russian European” (the story Asya, the novel Rudin, On the Eve, Smoke). Results and discussion. The material of the article can be used in the activities of scientists (philologists and culturologists), teachers and school teachers to expand the understanding of the Russian writer and his contribution to the interaction of interpenetration and mutual enrichment of the two cultures – Russia and Europe. Conclusion. Turgenev is a classic Russian European: he combines all his activities and works of two cultures, seeks to include Russia in the European family, and on the other hand, contributes to the familiarization of Europe with the achievements of national culture. | 11 | Introduction. The review provides coverage and understanding of the International scientific conferences and cultural events held in 2018, dedicated to the I.S. Turgenev’s 200th anniversary. The large-scale celebration of the anniversary testifies to the increasing attention of literary critics and the general public to the personality and creative heritage of the great Russian writer, who until now has not been honored in the world literature with the place that he deserves at par with other Russian classical writers – Tolstoy, Dostoevsky and Chekhov. Purpose of the study. This review allows you to see the scale of scientific and cultural events in the Turgenev jubilee year, to feel the atmosphere and the “pulse” of these events, to introduce specialists to their organization, participants, the content of the most thorough and memorable speeches, to think about the complex personality of the writer, his constant evolution, his creative searches. Material and methods. The authors use an integrated approach to the analysis of the scientific and cultural events of the Turgenev anniversary year. It is provided by a system of methods: descriptive-analytical, cultural-historical, comparative-typological, biographical, historical-literary, historical-functional, sociological. Results and discussions. The topics and problems of scientific conferences are examined, a brief analysis of the most informative and memorable speeches is given, special attention is paid to the reports of leading Turgenev’s works and literal specialists. Scientific events in the leading scientific centers of Russia (IRLI RAS and IMLI RAS, Moscow State University, St. Petersburg State University, Russian State Humanitarian University), as well as foreign forums in Thessaloniki, Brussels, Rouen, Paris/Bougival, are thoroughly analyzed. The analysis of scientific reports allows us to see the main directions in modern Turgenev works and creativity science. The analysis presents convincingly the historical and cultural context of the work of the Russian writer and his multifaceted personality. Conclusion. The material of the scientific review of the Turgenev anniversary conferences can be used in the scientific and educational activities of scientists (philologists, cultural scientists, historians), graduate students, school teachers. It will expand the understanding of Turgenev’s work, the scale of his personality, his contribution to Russian and world culture.
