| 1 | This article considers derivational and cognitive patterns on the example of the names of baby animals in modern English. As a result of the analysis of lexical items that are part of the lexical-semantic group of «baby animals» the author allocated units formed by means of suffixation. The author points out pattern formation for different species of animals. Patterns of naming young animals of different classes are analized.
