| 1 | The article is devoted to studying of similar and distinctive features of a genre of a sonnet in creativity of the European masters of poetry (mainly in U.Shekspir’s creativity) and the Azerbaijanian poets (on an example of creativity of Adil Babayev). It is here too spoken about history of occurrence and sonnet development in the countries of Europe and in Azerbaijan, basic principles and rules that are necessary for observing to the poets addressing to this genre of poetry irrespective of language and places of creation are specified. Besides, convincing arguments in favor of preservation of national color and traditional poetic means are resulted at use of the form of a sonnet in various national literatures.
