| 1 | The article deals with prototypical categories “man”, “woman”, “human” in the language conscience of men and women. The investigation is based on the theory of Oswald Ducrot and Jean-Claude Ascombre who suppose that the perception of the best representative of the category, that is typical of the majority of language speakers, underlies any lexical independent word. The aim of our research is to investigate the correlations between communicative-pragmatic potential of the adjectives and the degree of prototypicality of denoted quality in the perceptions of men and women about masculine and feminine qualities. The research bases on the experimental data obtained from Russian participants in our experiment.
