| 1 | The article deals with some peculiarities of translating satirical fantasy from English into Russian. We have analysed the characteristics of satirical texts, special transformations and stylistic devices. The results of the research show that a translator should have certain skills to translate satirical texts. He/she should have profound professional knowledge. He/she should be aware of the cultural differences between the two countries because satire is always aimed at native speakers and includes a lot of allusions and background information. The main task when translating satirical fantasy is to preserve all the humour using the means of the Russian language. A translator should also remember that Russian is more emotional than English so when translating satirical fantasy from English into Russian it is advisable that you should increase expressivity.
