| 1 | The article deals with the role of value-semantic component in forming the professional orientation of an adolescent. It is noted that an important feature of values is their role in defining strategic life goals. As a result of the research among schoolchildren aged 14 and 15 we revealed low indices of rationality and high dependence on other people’s opinion that is due to the fact that adolescents have inadequate recognition of their values. We also noted a significant role of external motives in choosing a career which can have a negative effect on realizing the individual potential of adolescents in their future professional activity.
