Monitoring the Quality of the Foreign Language Competence of Technical Universities Students // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2007. Issue 7 (70). P. 92-96

The paper states the issue of collecting information about the students’ achievements in foreign languages, which is part of the quality monitoring system in education, as a problem of importance for higher educational institutions in Russia. As a way to solve the problem it is suggested that regular testing should be conducted with uniform test instrument elaborated for all the students of the same year within a given institution. Тhe brief description of monitoring system at Tomsk Polytechnic University is given as an example of solving the problem
