The article considers the basic resources of task-oriented teaching method to develop intellectual skills in the process of training students for mathematics; efficiency of application of the technology of training technical higher educational institution students for mathematics in developing intellectual skills and abilities for self-development is disclosed. The technology is developed on the basis of functional personality-oriented, system and competence approaches.
