| 1 | Based on literature data, addresses a wide range of biological functions of metallothioneins, including transport of metals in the body, protection of oxidative stress, as well as their use as a diagnostic test of intoxication, including heavy metals poisoning. Methodologically justified the possible exchange of metallothionein with oxidative modification of proteins and lipids (spontaneous and metal-initiated). Proposed the application of monitoring of appropriate tests in the system, with a certain level of average molecular weight as a parameter of intoxication, including the effects of heavy metals to detect dynamics of metallothionein correlations in the body under the conditions of oxidative stress.
