| 1 | The article examines the philosophical foundations of applying the theory of sociocultural determinism in the language education of internationally oriented specialists in Chinese studies. The relevance of the research is determined by the deepening processes of globalization and intercultural integration in the modern world and by their impact on the content, aims and axiological guidelines of language education aimed at training specialists who possess a set of competencies for effective participation in intercultural communication between Russia and China in various fields of professional activity. The purpose of the article is to provide a theoretical understanding of how the ideas of sociocultural determinism offer worldview, methodological and value‑based foundations for designing the language education of specialists in Chinese studies, taking into account Chinese cultural specificity, contemporary transformations of the global sociocultural space and new challenges of the modern world. The methodological basis of the research consists of historical, ontological, axiological and comparative approaches, which is making it possible to reveal the interrelation of language and culture and their interaction within the sphere of people’s social activity. The study uses the method of analyzing domestic and international scholarly literature on the problems of sociocultural determinism, philosophy of education and intercultural communication, as well as methods of comparison, generalization and systematization of the practical significance of the theory of sociocultural determinism in the course of language training of internationally oriented specialists in Chinese studies. The conducted research made it possible to identify the main philosophical foundations of the method of sociocultural determinism in language education, as well as to determine their role in updating models of language education for specialists in Chinese studies and in forming their intercultural competence. The author concludes that language is determined as a form of the existence of culture and as an instrument for constructing a specific linguistic picture of the world. It is also concluded that there is an objective necessity to integrate Confucian ethical values into the system of professional training of internationally oriented specialists in Chinese studies. The practical significance of the article lies in the possibility of using the obtained results in the development of new models and updated approaches to the organization of language education and in the design of teaching and learning materials for the training of specialists in Chinese studies, taking into account current sociocultural determinants.
