Wetlands in the Problem of Methane as Greenhouse Gas: What was Investigated and What is Forthcoming // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2008. Issue 4 (78). P. 74-77

The paper presents brief results on the methane emission research for the wetlands of West Siberia. These results include the discovery of new acidophilic methanogenic and methanotrophic microorganisms. Some partial problems for further research are pointed out

METHANE EMISSION IN THE FOREST-TUNDRA: TOWARDS THE «STANDARD MODEL» (AA2) FOR WEST SIBERIA // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2009. Issue 3 (81). P. 77-81

The paper describes a conception of “standard model” for methane emission from the mires of West Siberia. The “standard model” is a complex of (i) methane flux probability densities distributions for typical ecosystems of all natural zones, (ii) period of CH4 emission for all zones, and (iii) fraction of wetland area for all zones. We present experimental data (methane fluxes in forest-tundra) which are the components of “standard model” Aa1. The medians of methane fluxes from palsе, oligotrophic hollows, peat mats and poor fens are 0,14, 1,12, 11,86 and 1,28 mgC•m-2•h-1 accordingly. All abovementioned values relate only to “period of methane emission” which is 120 days in forest tundra.

METHANE EMISSION FROM TYPICAL PEATLAND LANDSCAPES OF WESTERN SIBERIA FOREST-STEPPE: FOR «STANDARD MODEL»BC5 // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2009. Issue 11 (89). P. 198-206

Were measured spec1f1c methane fluxes that are representative for some peatland landscapes of Western S1beria forest-steppe. Spec1fic methane fluxes of forest-steppe eutroph1c m1res are very close to the same fluxes 1n subta1ga. Probability d1stribution of specific methane flux has following parameters: 1st quart1le/med1an/3rd quartile = 0.53/1.99/ 6.03 mgС GH4-m 2-h 1. Methane fluxes from bog lakes are close too, as in subta1ga they are estimated at tens and first hundreds of mgС GH4-m 2-h 1. Probability d1stribution of specific methane flux in riam: 0.00 / 0.09 / 0.21 mgС GH4-m 2-h 1. Annual methane em1ss1on from Western S1ber1a forest-steppe (estimated on the model Bc5) 1s 0.36 MtСH4/year that form 5 % reg1onal em1ss1on.

METHANE EMISSION FROM WEST SIBERIAN TUNDRA MIRES // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2010. Issue 3 (93). P. 78-86

The paper presents experimental data on the methane fluxes from West Siberian tundra mires in summer and winter periods. The possibility of the methane adsorption by the snow cover is discussed. The regional flux from the whole region is estimated with the «standard model» Bc7 as 0.16 MtСH4/year that accounts for around 5 % of the total West Siberian mires methane emission.

CARBONACEUS GREENHOUSE GASES FLUX FROM WEST SIBERIAN WETLAND ECOSYSTEMS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2010. Issue 3 (93). P. 120-127

This article contain historical and methodological review of CH4, CO2 and CO emission from West Siberian wetlands. Special attention is given to the problem of spatial and temporal heterogeneity of gas flux which associated with daily and seasonal ecosystem dynamics and waterlogged landscape patterns. Different estimations of regional gases fluxes are analyzed.

Methane emission from middle taiga oligotrophic hollows of Western Siberia // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2011. Issue 5 (107). P. 135-143

The paper presents experimental data on the methane emissions from West Siberian middle taiga oligotrophic hollows. Studied fluxes vary considerably from –0.08 to 58 mgС·m–2·h–1 (median is 2.76 mgС·m–2·h–1). Received data are consolidated in the scope of «standard model» Bc8 conception of methane emission. The model contains medians of CH4 flux distributions on seven different microlandscape types depending on their area and duration of methane emission in the respective zones. The total flux from the middle taiga oligotrophic hollows is 0.37 TgC or approximately 70 % of CH4 total flux from middle taiga mires. Version Bc8 of this model estimates the value of yearly CH4 emission from mires of whole Western Siberia as 2.93 TgC·yr–1 that accounts for around 2.4 % of the total mire methane emission.
