Repressions in the Tomsk artillery school before and during the Great Patriotic War. // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2000. Issue 4 (20). P. 105-111

The paper is devoted to one of the most tragic pages in history of the Tomsk artillery school, namely: the period of repressions in the pre-war 1930-s. As a result of repressions, the Tomsk artillery school has lost a great number of experienced commanding officers and lecturers. Repressions in the army have led to heavy casualties during the first weeks and mouths of the Great Patriotic War.

In this article we study the realization of class principle of army recruitment on a regional scale. The latest statistic data are also reported. It is shown that for reforming and recruiting of modern army forces of Russia we should be critical and also take the previous experience of the army development into consideration.

The author shows the contribution of former officers to the organization and development of the military educational system in Siberia. The data about the number, living and labour conditions of commanding and teaching staff of military educational institutions in Siberian military district are provided as well as the data about the changes which took place in them and in the attitude of the Soviet power to them.

The article shows the role of intelligentsia in cultural life of the Red Army, its influence upon the processes, occurring in cultural-educational and pedagogical work. On the basis of concrete documentary and actual materials the main trends, scales, forms and methods of intelligentsia participation in the cultural patronage under the Red Army are revealed.
