| 4267 | The article reveals results of the onomasiological approach to analyze corpora of Tomsk realionims elaborated in Russian. This article covers issues of a great importance such as onomasiology as a study of designations where linguistics forms can stand for a given concept, idea, and object, theoretical components of an onomasiological approach to categorize required vocabulary segments. Moreover, the research also considers various realia classifications elaborated since 1950s that are crucial for modern linguistics and widely spread. The article anticipates detailed and careful examination of such classifications and criteria of their formation and elaboration to select the basic one. In accordance with the research, the most reliable classification has been selected and applied during systematization and categorization. In such a manner, an onomasiological approach and the one realia classification specified in the article became the basis to systemize realionims associated with Tomsk and Tomsk Region in compliance with corresponding classification groups. Furthermore, the article defines thematic content of realionims` corpora dedicated to Tomsk and Tomsk Region. | 4268 | Despite the disposition of the theater of the absurd for linguistic minimalism, the plays of the British theater of the absurd possess a great phonographic potential due to the generic features of the dramatic text. The article explains the paradoxical ability of the dramatic text to transfer performer’s phonostylistic means through the author’s remarks, special syntactic constructions and graphic tools. The identified phonostylistic and graphic means in the absurdist plays by Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter and Tom Stoppard do not only help to convey the authors’ ideas, but also conform to the philosophy of the absurd. The most represented means is the instrumentation based on different sound repetitions (alliteration, consonance, rhyme) with the use of sound symbolism. The phonographic analysis of the texts also revealed some cases of onomatopoeia and paronomasia. Rhythm has a special stylistic meaning in the drama. It is inherent in both theatrical actions and speech, which is reflected in the dramatic text. The article considers the ways of creating a specific slow, monotonous rhythm peculiar to the theater of the absurd with its idea of cyclical existence. The described examples confirm the stylistic markedness of the plays of the theater of the absurd which can be an object of further research in linguistics and stylistics. | 4269 | Introduction. The article deals with the onomatopoeic verbs of the German language and the peculiarities of their functioning in the texts of various genres: in colloquial speech, in literary and journalistic texts, in newspaper and magazine periodicals, and in German-language chats. The purpose of the study was to determine the frequency and originality of the use of onomatopoetic verbs. Material and methods. The theoretical part of the paper presents the classification of verbs selected for the study. The basis of the classification was the systemic dictionary by L.M. Vasilyev compiled on the material of the Russian language. The authors applied this principle of systematization to the material of the German language and supplemented the existing classification taking into account the examples selected for the analysis. The material for the study includes 161 sentences from fiction, journalist and German-language chats using onomatopoeic verbs. Results and discussion. To confirm the sound nature of this group of words, the article presents the etymology and meaning of the analyzed verbs in monolingual dictionaries. This group of words in German is quite numerous due to the presence of sound in the commission of almost any action. Many onomatopoeic verbs are characterized by polysemy associated with many associations of the same word in the minds of native speakers. The words of this group can have emotional, evaluative (both positive and negative) expressive and stylistic components of meaning. Conclusion. The article shows how actively and diversely the onomatopoeic verbs are used by the authors due to their expressiveness and emotionality, the ability to have a certain impact on the listener or reader. The results of solving the problem determine the theoretical significance. The study contributes to the development of the theory of functioning of onomatopoeic verbs. The practical value of the study is the ability to use the results of the study in the development of lecture courses and seminars on Lexicology, Stylistics and Text analysis in the course of modern German. Thus, the results of the study confirmed the authors’ assumption about the possible diversity of the functioning of onomatopoetic verbs in the texts of various genres. | 4288 | The paper is devoted to the personage classification analysis in literary criticism, its adaptation to the personage system of Scottish emigrational poetry and investigation of image characteristics of «old» and «new» Motherland. Prof. M.A. Novikova’s classification of artistic space is taken into account. It includes the opposition of own place and other place, space of center and periphery, space of border and contact. There are different classifications based on diverse approaches: 1) unipatrides, expatriants, apatrides; 2) religious persons (St. Andrew), historical persons (Robert I the Bruce, 1274-1329), Sir William Wallace, c. 1270-1305), Robert Burns, 1759-1796)), dwellers of Scotland’s regions (Highlanders) / the USA regions, family and home personages (husband, wife, parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, friends), natural actuals of Scotland/the USA (Grampian Hills, Wood of Clova, Noran Water). The contrastive analysis of the personage system of Scotland’s poets (who didn’t emigrate) with the personage system of the USA’s Scottish emigrational poets is made. In the poetry of Scotland’s poets such additional personages are found: Fergus I (ab. 434 – 501), Kenneth MacAlpin (810-858), Duncan I (1001-1040), Malcolm IV (1141-1165), John Knox (1513-1572), Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587), James Melville (1556-1614). | 4289 | Introduction. Quantitative and qualitative changes in the modern English vocabulary and regular production of extensive neogenic lexical segments in its content demonstrate the viability of this language and are vivid evidences of its dynamic evolution in the modern society confirming its leading position in the development trend indicators in the synchronous perspective. Coinciding with innovations in special areas of knowledge, modern English acts automatically as a vocabulary producer for new forming onomasiologic structures to which the lexical-semantic field “Smart Energy Systems” belongs. Material and methods. Author’s corpus consisting of 1 144 lexical units served as a material resource for this research. The corpus was selected from authentic scientific and technical publications over the period from 2015 to 2019. The neologism status in the specified corpus segment was determined through lemmatic articles taken from representative lexicographical references books like “Dictionary of Mechanical Engineering”, “Dictionary of Technical Terms”, “Electropedia”, “Encyclopedia Britannica”, “Encyclopedia of Energy Engineering and Technology”, “Engineering Dictionary”, “Power Engineering Dictionary”, “Cambridge Dictionary”, “Collins Online Dictionary”, “Urban Dictionary”, etc. Structural and systemic approach constitutes the rational and empirical platform of this study enabling to interpret structural relations of lexical aggregates as a system (subsystem) of elements and the language as a structural and systemic formation. To determine the neologization extent of the lexical-semantic field “Smart Energy Systems” some traditional methods of logic (analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, contrasting, etc.) and statistics (quantitative, grouping method) as well as linguistic methods (descriptive and structural for component and constituent analysis) were used. Results and discussion. The formation of terminological neologisms is continuous while their lexicographical documentation is characterized by an impressive delay. Based on the quantitative and comparative analysis, the neogenic growth rate in thematic groups was determined and the localization of terminological neologisms in the lexical-semantic field was specified. The knowledge of neological distribution makes it possible to predict the trends of terminology formation in the field of smart energy systems in the modern English. Two and three component wordformative models are predominant in thematic groups which reflect their nominative function and display their tendency to specification. The vocabulary enhancement of the lexical-semantic field “Smart Energy Systems” follows two ways: the extension and abridgement of words and collocations lexical length reflecting current trends in the lexical enrichment in the modern English. Conclusion. Upon the analysis of the lexical-semantic structure of the lexical-semantic field “Smart Energy Systems” the following conclusion is made: the peripheral zone, formed around the core, contains the language material imported from allied onomasiologic fields and, therefore, distinguishes by the fastest pace of neologization.
