The article presents the first experience of scientific interpretation of the poem “Monument” by Russian literary figure of the first half of the XX century Boris Aleksandrovich Sadovskoy (1881–1952). This work, being a part of the last created poetic book of B. A. Sadovskoy “Abode of Death” (1917), is analyzed in the context of the genre tradition of the poem “Monument”, which began with the world literature Horace’s ode “To Melpomene”. It is reported that the latest author reinterprets polemically thematic and stylistic elements typical of the mentioned tradition (ekphrasis, the motives of the immortality of poetry and fame of the poet in the memory of future generations, the “national geography” theme of distribution poetic glory), reflected in the translation and poetic setting of Horace’s odes by M. V. Lomonosov, G. R. Derzhavin, A. A. Fet, G. S. Baten'kov. Special attention is paid to polemic dialogue between Sadovskoy’s “Monument” and a poem by A. S. Pushkin “I have erected a monument for myself...”, which largely determines the structure and meaning of the work of the newest poet. The conclusion is that the B. A. Sadovskoy’s work preserving the main features of the genre traditions of the poem “Monument”: thematic and stylistic elements of epitaph (antapite), ekphrasis, poems-wills, “the last poem” has undoubted potential to rethink this tradition which appear in the poetic practice of later authors (V. Mayakovsky, V. Hodasevich, I. Brodsky, Vladimir Vysotsky, V. Shenderovich and others) in three modes of the attitude to it – polemical, ironic and gaming.

Zvereva E.V., Kutieva M.V. THEATRICALITY METHOD AS A TOOL FOR DISCOURSIVE MULTICOMPETENCES DEVELOPMENT. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 8 (185). P. 9-14

Nowadays language education is undergoing serious anthropocentric transformations. Teachers, who creatively process foreign experience, conduct a deep search for activity-oriented methodologies, including a maximum of interactive forms of instruction in the lesson. One of the most effective among them is theatricality. We view theatricality as a highly effective pedagogical resource that generates the communicative and discursive multicompetences, motivating students, fomenting their socialization and increasing the attractiveness for them of a foreign language lesson. Dramatizing practice implements pedagogical activity approach. Theatrical episode is a kind of public speaking, which develops various subspecies of human intellect. In theatre plays, everything is important: words, voice, speech tempo, timbre, pause, glance, gesture, movement, body language. It is very important working with gestures, obligatory in theatre situation, because traditional lesson blocks gestures’ aspect. The student learns to impress play-partners and feel this impact as some kind of a psychological victory over oneself. A specific contact with others on professional subjects occurs. Students see themselves forced to develop certain proper tactics contacting and influencing the others. It is very necessary in life and profession. Students learn to control mood and attitude among classmates, overcoming their fears; train spontaneity and ease in speech; acquire skill of public speaking and critical skills verbal interaction.

Keywords: competence approach, theatricality, dramatization, personal formation, pedagogical interaction, socialization, professional communication

Dakukina T.A. THE READING ROLE IN THE ORIGINAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEXTS TRANSLATION PROCESS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 4 (193). P. 169-172

The article poses the problem of reading place determining as a speech activity type in the original texts translating process from a foreign language to the native. Requirements΄ increasing to the translation skills mastering level by students of linguistic specialties determines the need for relevant knowledge actualization. This applies to both the translation general theory and certain specialized issues. The theoretical significance of the research is that the work presents a new approach to reading role understanding in translation activities. The read text-original meaning understanding mechanisms and the secondary text content formation by foreign language means from the translation process positions are presented. The foreign-language texts comprehension process occurs in a linguistic framework through the thematic words, conditional endo-lexis, asymmetry, emotional-evaluative components selection. Also, when reading, it is proposed to use strategies such as implicit information decoding, text information explicating, lexical and syntactic selection, forecasting. The proper implementation of these strategies further influences the harmonization of the original text meanings and the translation. From the properly organized foreign-language text reading process depends on the strategy choice for text translating, whether it is a translation note, paraphrase, interpolation. The research results can be used to develop understanding effectiveness increasing methods in written texts translating and translation theory courses.

Cherepanova T.B., Lin Y. PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS WITH SOMATISM “TOOTH” IN CHINESE AND RUSSIAN: THE EXPERIENCE OF COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 10 (187). P. 28-31

The article presents the experience of comparative analysis of phraseological units in the Russian and Chinese languages with the somatic component of the “tooth”. The research analyzed the position of the classic and modern linguistic studies, actualizing the cultural semantization of phraseological units. Analytically described the semantic nests of the collected fund of phraseological units with somatism “tooth” in the Chinese and Russian languages. Carried out a comparison of the shared and unique values of phraseological units. In the Chinese language there are idioms connected with speech activity, with the appearance and facial expressions of a person, reflecting the relationship between people, with a person describing the action of speaking, as well as the unique meanings associated with a book, an article, with durability. The following meanings are established in the Russian language: strength, food, experience, reflection of the person’s negative emotions (resentment, wrath, anger, hatred), the symbolic expression of aggression. It is found that somatism “tooth” in Chinese and Russian phraseological units symbolically replaces the individual elements of the surrounding reality, conditioned by the history of peoples, their religions, customs and traditions, the natural conditions and value systems of the people, and therefore can not be considered identically, which must be taken into account in the process of mastering the language, and in the process of translation.

Pushkareva Y.E. ITALIAN PAINTING IN THE CREATIVITY OF V. F. ODOEVSKY: THE IMAGE OF MADONNA. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 7 (184). P. 134-139

The article examines the issue of Italian painting reception in the creativity of V.F. Odoevsky at the levels of images, motives, allusions. This issue is associated with pictorial art as a challenge for Odoevsky. Italian art in his prose is connected with a creator’s destiny: his …, insanity, unrealized … Art and creativity express chaotic and irrational part of the human nature, forming opposition with philosophy. The image of Italian Madonna is interpreted as an aesthetic and etic ideal of beauty. Odoevsky’s perception in this aspect corresponds with perception of the Lubomudry in general. This idea of perfection reflected in the images of wise and beautiful women playing the role of Muse. In aesthetic conception of Vackenroder the same image creates ties between art and religion. Madonna is identified in short stories “Vicenzio and Cecilia”, “The improvisator”, in stories “Silphide” and “Black glove”. Odoevsky uses ideas of German romanticists and Zhukovsky, but reconsiders them. For example, Cecilia embodies not only beauty, but also spiritual independence. The picture with Madonna in “The improvisator” expresses motive of beauty damaged by analysis and rationality. In the image of Siphide Odoevsky combines features of Venus, the divine of love and beauty painted by Botticelli, and Cristian Madonna. “Black glove” demonstrates absence of Madonna (line of Maria) in modern world. In conclusion, interpretation of Madonna’s image is included in Italian text system of the Lubomudry. However, Odoevsky adds to this text individual features typical of his philosophical prose.

Raykova O.A. TRANSFORMATION OF THE HERO MYTHOLOGEME IN ANCIENT GREEK TRAGEDY (BASED ON THE TRAGEDIES “OEDIPUS REX” AND “THE BACCHANTES”). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 5 (194). P. 69-73

The study of the transformation of the mythologeme of the Hero seems to be actual, since, having arisen in the space of a myth, it continues to exist in culture throughout the history of mankind, including modernity. At the same time, the image of the Hero undergoes changes due to the peculiarities of a particular historical epoch in other forms of culture different from myth. Such a transformation occurs with the Hero mythologeme in the ancient Greek tragedy of the classical era. In the transition from myth to tragedy, the Hero mythologeme undergoes significant changes: the hero of tragedy perceives fate as an external force that affects his life. He does not reconcile himself to Fate, and tries to change his destiny with all his might, and even realizing that this is impossible, he makes independent decisions demonstrating that he does not bow before circumstances and is capable of performing heroic deeds. Also, the hero of the tragedy refuses to take for granted the will of the gods and tries to force them to be guided in their actions by categories of morality. The problem of transformation of the Hero mythologeme in the ancient Greek tragedy, considered in this study, will allow us to better understand the changes taking place in the ancient Greek culture of the classical epoch. The conclusions obtained by the author can be used in preparing courses on the history and culture of ancient Greece.

Karimova R.K., Mishina G.V. ADULTERY IN LATE NINETEENTH-CENTURY RUSSIAN AND GERMAN LITERATURE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 5 (211). P. 155-163

Introduction. The article describes the changes in ideas on the family and the role of woman in public consciousness at the end of the nineteenth century. The aim and objectives. The aim of this work is to study the reflection of female emancipation process in Russian and German society at the end of the nineteenth century. Material and methods. The material for research is the novel by L. N. Tolstoy “Anna Karenina” and the novel by Th. Fontane “Effi Briest”. The analytical and descriptive, comparative, cultural and historical methods are used in this work. Results and discussion. In the last quarter of the nineteenth century, European and Russian society faced the crisis of the family institution. The global historical, political, socioeconomic and ideological changes had their influence on the understanding of the role and place of women. The problem of women emancipation is widely represented in the works of the European and Russian writers of the given period. L. N. Tolstoy in the novel “Anna Karenina” gives a critical eye to the state of the “family matter”. The writer indicates the discredit of the traditional ideas on marriage in the society of Moscow’s and Petersburg’s nobility. L. N. Tolstoy exposes the hypocrisy of nobles, vicious in all spheres of life (official, family, economical spheres) but advocating for decency. In “Anna Karenina” we see how inequitable social gender roles are. The heroine of the novel was rejected not due to the adultery, but because of the aspiration to live openly. The conflict of the emancipated person against the ossified society becomes a plot engine in “Effi Briest” novel by the German writer. We found the coincidence of the key personality traits of the Th. Fontane and L. N. Tolstoy protagonists. The unifying quality is the ambition, based on the undisclosed emotional potential of a woman from noble society. If the social ground of Anna Karenina’s tragedy in the Tolstoy novel is the hypocrisy of the high society, the Effi Briest catastrophe is due to (in Fontane’s opinion) misconception of honour in the German noble society. Similar features are found in the male characters of the novels. However, there is a moral superiority of Karenin over Instetten that can be explained by peculiarities of the mentality. Conclusion. The comparative analysis of L. N. Tolstoy’s and Th. Fontane’s works allows us to conclude that there is coincidence of the created social and psychological situation and the characters’ emotional reactions to similar collisions without proven interference of the texts. In both works, developing women’s emancipation is portrayed as a complicated and dramatic process, which testifies to the epoch’s crisis.

Vilkova Y.E. AXIOLOGICAL SPACE OF POPULAR SCIENTIFIC VIDEO BLOGGING (ON THE EXAMPLE OF ANIMATION VIDEOS ABOUT THE HEALTH OF YOUTUBE-CHANNEL “NAUCHPOCK”). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 1 (219). P. 76-83

Introduction. The axiology of popular science discourse is determined by the reflexive-value aspect of scientificcognitive activity, the presentation of information to the addressee through the prism of a certain assessment, the special value status of the addressee in information and educational communication, as well as the value potential f the extralinguistic content of information as a subject of communication. The purpose the article is the description of the axiological space of the video blog “Nauchpok” (on the example of videos of the thematic group “health”) and the linguistic means of its construction. Material and methods. As a material, 50 videos related to health topics were selected, presented on the popular science channel “Nauchpok” video hosting YouTube. The choice of material is substantiated by the role of video blogging in the dissemination of information and the formation of value attitudes; popularity of the Nauchpok channel; the universal nature of the value of health, fashion and aestheticization of the topic of health. The work uses the methods of axiological linguistics, which are supplemented with elements of functional and pragmatic linguistic analysis. Results and discussion. The main structure-forming value in the Nauchpok video blog is information, there is a tendency to observe such axiological parameters of scientific information as objectivity, validity, evidence, reliability. In the videos, the authors destroy myths that are stable in society. The narrative includes a large number of experimentally proven facts, historical excursions and references, scholarly quotes, statistical data, etc. The axiological status in popular science video blogging also receives the quality of information accessibility and its presentation, being associated with the anthropocentricity of communication, information and evaluative impact. Polycode text resources play a significant role in achieving the goal of accessibility. The videos show rational and emotional types of assessment in argumentation. The importance of the speech genre of advice in the axiological space of the video blog is analyzed. The declared meaningful values in the videos are a healthy lifestyle, calmness and common sense as the absence of panic, responsibility for oneself and one’s health. Conclusion. The research results can be of theoretical and practical importance for studying the axiosphere of popular science video blogging.

Ivanova I.G., Egoshina R.A. Teaching normative French pronunciation as an important component of mastering oral speech skills. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 112-122

The article is devoted to the role of pronunciation in teaching French. Attention is focused on prosodic factors that play an important role in the process of understanding a statement. Decoding of verbal communication takes place at the intellectual, linguistic, emotional and relational levels. The interlocutors perceive not only individual words, but also the tone of the utterance. Intonationally transmitted information allows you to understand the deep meaning of the utterance and its components. The purpose of the study is to determine the place of the phonetic component in the methodology of teaching a foreign language. The following research methods are used in the work: analysis of pedagogical, methodological, linguistic literature and the work experience of Russian and foreign phonetists; the method of scientific description; synthesis and generalization of their own practice of teaching French at the university. Many modern researchers in the field of foreign language teaching methods are supporters of communicative learning, leading to a new perception of the role of pronunciation, and awareness of the importance of intonation parameters of speech. The effectiveness of teaching the French language is increased with the use of special exercises for practicing prosodic phenomena, in which the phonosemantic approach appeals to sound matter and contributes to the formation of foreign language pronunciation skills. The result is the development of exercises based on the analysis of traditional and modern didactic principles. It is proposed to practice pronunciation skills in order to correct oral speech according to the following parameters: intonation and rhythm, intensity of articulation, phonetic environment. The effectiveness of training at the segment level increases with the use of exercises based on the principle of “from simple to complex”. The suprasegmental level, which implies normative stress, correct melody, rhythm, and pauses, also plays a significant role in mastering the articulation base of the language being studied. Only the complex perception of the above phonetic phenomena leads to the assimilation of the articulatory base of a foreign language. Thus, students need to master phonetic and phonological skills, since their insufficient formation will have negative consequences for the entire language learning process.

The article considers ornithomorphical symbols of aquatic birds in traditional culture of the Khanty. They thought that aquatic birds that capable of being both in air and on earth, and under the water can own three worlds: upper, middle and lower. It’s revealed that content of goose’s and duck’s images are the most archaic, they kept a deep imprint in Folklore, many folk epithets are formed on their foundation. Symbols of the majority of investigated birds reflect modern religion imagines. Birds are considered to be the hypostasis of the actual spiritual protectors.
