The history of volunteer activity of students in the years of the First World War is presented on the basis of office documents of educational institutions of the Kursk province, concentrated in the State Archives of the Kursk region. The need to study them is caused not only by the scientific, but also by the practical need for a deeper consideration of the volunteer activity of young people in pre-revolutionary Russia. Documentary materials are valuable sources, greatly expanding and refining our understanding of the formation of a volunteer movement of young people in a difficult time for the country. The article reflects the issues related to the examination of the essence, content and types of volunteer activity of the youth in the war years. Presents the data on the history of the formation of the first labor squads of pupils – in 1915–1916 on the territory of the Kursk province to help families of peasants drafted into the army, analyzes the features of the volunteer movement of the youth at the initial stages of formation of voluntary student groups, reveals the difficulties encountered by the organizers of the squads. It was the labor squads that became one of the most widespread forms of organizing amateur volunteer initiative youth associations that cared for distressed citizens, solving the problem of labor shortage in villages throughout the country, which increased after the recruitment of older men. The need to study them is caused not only by scientific, but also by the practical necessity for a deeper consideration of the volunteer movement of the youth in pre-revolutionary Russia.

The article considers the features of system pedagogical thinking in the contemporary socio-cultural situation as a basis for culture of translating the techniques of professional work of the future teachers, and highlights its characteristics. Presents the conditions to enable the development of system thinking. The emphasis is placed on mastering of «knowledge management» system and metasubject activityin the field of education, understanding the essence of the noosphere society development strategy; consideration of the process of training and education of future teachers as a complex self-organizing, open system. The examples of implementation of the conditions identified in the educational practice of training future teachers are given. The positive dynamics of such characteristics of system thinking in future educators as understanding of the integrity of the nature of our planet, the unity of its processes, the natural connection of man and his Motherland, as well as the understanding that any activity and form of human behavior in nature and with society must be consistent with the laws of nature; strengthening the regulatory regulation of behavior in a situation of moral choice; the desire for professional self-development, the expectation of success from the implementation of their own actions. The features of the organization of classes (lectures and seminars) on pedagogical disciplines are described, which can be taken into account as guidelines for building work to improve the efficiency of teacher training.

Empirical element of mentality of a man of traditional culture embodies individual practical experience of formal-logical order. But being indifferent to the objective cause and effect relationships of the phenomena, he reveals particular attentiveness to manifested and hidden mystical links between phenomena, the basis of which is the law of mystical contiguity of cause and effect. As a result of domination of such law a man of traditional society makes his behavior in the culture. This explains the duality of mentality of a man of traditional culture of Siberia and the North, whose empirical intuition is subjected to the «supreme collective notions*.

The various types of water basins, i. e. river, accessory, marsh and continental ones, are considered as biotopes for fresh-water mollusks of North-Siberia. For each of the above basin types the qualitative and qualitative composition of mollusks is reported and the most widely spread species are indicated. Regarding the biotopes and environmental factors involved, rheo-, stagno- and eurybionts are found to predominate among the fresh-water mollusks of Northern Siberia. The adaptation of mollusks to certain environmental factors of the water basins and their distribution in the biotopes because of these factors are considered.

The article discusses resources of verbal manipulation that are most often used in English advertising discourse. The most essential resources of verbal manipulation in outdoor advertisements seem to include language resources proper, resources of verbal manipulation through changing the structure of advertising discourse and cognitive resources of verbal manipulation. The results of the research of English outdoor advertisements show that all the resources of verbal manipulation are closely connected with each other in advertising discourse. The most effective resources of verbal manipulation in the discourse of English outdoor advertisements are reframing, the Imperative Mood, parallel constructions, rhyming, play of words and allusions.

In recent decades, the internationalization of higher education has become one of the main trends influenced by the development of globalization processes. Market environment in Russia sets a new goal for Russian higher education – training of highly qualified specialists in engineering and technology which are able to change the economic situation, to design and operate modern products and engineering systems. In this context, the internationalization is becoming one of the key components for the development of higher education, which is essential to hold leading positions in world university rankings. The article is focused on the influence of internationalization on the modern higher school, defines the relevant competencies of university research and teaching staff, connected with the ability to collaborate with other universities in international context, to develop and conduct joint research and educational projects, to design and implement unique educational programs. The experience of Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) in the field of faculty professional development focused on the development of this set of competencies is presented. The connection between the competencies and the indicators of TPU “road map” is stated. Research relevance is explained by the need of educational institutions to engage high-skilled faculty members, which are able to collaborate effectively in international context, to make research projects with international partners, to contribute to university higher positions in world rankings.

A combined model where the vertical impurity dis¬persal was calculated by means of a set of differential equations, such as equations of motion, turbulent dif¬fusion and heat conduction, while the horizontal dis¬persal was computed by a Gaussian model was used. The paper touches upon the new problems in theory and practice of teaching the foreign languages in conformity with modern vital conditions. In such a context it is a matter of introducing a psychological component to the educational process to be aimed at optimization of foreign training at any stage of continuous education system as well as the improvement of communication teaching level. Application of up-to-date psychotechnologies in the process of foreign training seems to be within the capacity of the foreign lan¬guage teacher, as it does not require special psychothera-peutic knowledge. The present paper appears to be an ef¬fort to observe the opportunities of using neurolinguistics programming (NLP) strategics in practice of teaching the foreign languages at a non-linguistic higher educational in¬stitution which allow the teacher to reveal the students' style and apply the methods to be the most suitable for the present student or the given group. In this interpretation the NLP approach should be consid¬ered as one of the innovatory forms of educational and out-of-lecture teacher's activities within the bounds of possible spending of time, as a stimulus to the creative potential devel¬opment of students and, first of all, not as a principal method of teaching the foreign languages but as an additional technology to improve the foreign language educational process and make it more effective, easy and pleasurable for mastering.

The author analyzes the sociocultural factors, which determine the formation of scientific knowledge, such as values, traditions, rules and regulations established by society; considers the change of outlook with the change of historical periods; gives examples of some scientific activity modifications. In the last decades the science becomes more than only the scope. It is also the ideology, the way of knowledge systematization. The dynamics of a charged relativistic particle in electromagnetic field of a rotating magnetized celestial body with the magnetic axis inclined to the axis of rotation is studied. The covariant Lagrangian function in the rotating reference frame is found. Effective potential energy is defined on the base of the first integral of motion. The structure of the equipotential surfaces for a relativistic charged particle moving in strong magnetic field is studied and depicted. Behavior of the stationary points of the effective potential energy near the light cylinder is discussed.

The author considers the results of typological analysis of terminological units of scientific style of American variant of English in lexical-semantic field ‘renewable energy sources’ in the present article. Types of terminological units of scientific style in lexical-semantic field ‘renewable energy sources’ of American variant of English were defined. Among terminological units single component terminological units and multi-component terminological units, acronyms and acronymous compounds, nomenclature units, preterminological units, and occasionalisms were found in the texts of scientific style of American variant of English in the sphere of ‘renewable energy sources’. Linguistic characteristics of terminological units of scientific style in lexical-semantic field ‘renewable energy sources’ of American variant of English were given.

The article presents the problem of creating the learning environment for project activities of teachers. It is proved that the project activity can be the basis for the process of training of teachers in the learning environment. The article also presents the stages of training of teachers in the learning environment. Stages of the learning process focused on dynamic deployment of activities of teachers from project idea to implementation of ideas into real professional activity. Individual needs of teachers, their individual professional experience are important elements for the process of deployment of activities of teachers from the project ideas to implementation of ideas into a real professional activity. Project activities on the stages of learning are implemented on the basis of the individual and communicative components of learning environment and focused on the development of professional experience of teachers.

A mathematical model of the institute of higher education activities is presented in the article. On the basis of this model a program system, so-called institute administration simulator, is built. The simulator is designed to be applied in education and management training. Great attention is paid to the model of infrastructure development of Russian institute of higher education, where basic business processes associated with infrastructure development (such as building and taking areas on lease, library stock institute informatization) are shown.
