Polyakova N.V. METEOROLOGICAL VOCABULARY OF THE SELKUP AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES IN THE COMPARATIVE ASPECT. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 10 (175). P. 94-97

The meteorological vocabulary of the Russian and Selkup dialects reflects practical aspects of the spiritual and applicative learning of the world around by these ethnoses. The atmospheric phenomena and atmospheric precipitation are named differently in the dialects depending on a way and duration of their fall, the size of drops/flakes, force and direction, presence or absence of other atmospheric phenomena. A large number of names are received by those atmospheric phenomena or weather conditions which negatively influence economic activity: long incessant rain; snow with the wind, blizzard; cold weather. The considerable part of the Russian meteorological vocabulary consists of the names of long incessant rain while the Selkup language is characterized by a large number of the names of snow and cold weather.

Butakova L.O., Vikulova A.I. TEXTS ABOUT AN ELDERLY PERSON IN THE REGIONAL MEDIA SPACE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 5 (202). P. 7-15

Introduction. The article offers a genre aspect of the study of regional media texts on the social group of the Russian society nominated “elderly people”. The aim of the study is to identify the lexical, pragmatic, stylistic originality of the texts of regional network media about an elderly person. Material and methods. The analysis methods used: semantic analysis of words and utterances, stylistic analysis of the utterance and text, communicative and pragmatic analysis. Research material: 86 texts posted on the websites of regional news agencies “Omsk Here” (43 texts) and “Super Omsk” (43 texts) in the period from July 11, 2017 to April 8, 2018. The selection of empirical material was carried out according to the criterion of the presence in them of the combination of “elderly person” and the token “pensioner”. The working hypothesis of the study was the assumption that the content of regional online media about an elderly person will be dominated by informational and analytical genres, as well as negative topics. Results and discussion. The results of the study confirmed the working hypothesis. A thematic, stylistic, pragmatic analysis of the texts of regional network media with the subject area “elderly people” revealed genre monotony and diffuseness (dominance of the genre notes with and without an analytical component), combining different genre features (information note, monitoring, interview, review); the shift of genre forms towards information structures; prevalence of official business style; lack of imaginative means of expression; weak individualization of the style (uniformity of the lexical composition; strengthening the negative effect of the effect of the type through the use of strategies of informing and emotionally evaluative type). The study also showed the dominance of the informational genre group, in particular the notes, in which the author’s desire to present an objective, supported by concrete facts view of an elderly person is realized. The genres of a note, a subject interview, a commentary on a regional media discourse about older people are “tied” to topics of health and criminal accidents, for which a syncretic functional style is used, combining the features of official business and journalistic styles. Conclusion. The combination of the two styles allows journalists to be as short, informative and accurate as possible (features of an official business style), but at the same time with a fair amount of emotion, clear and simple (features of a journalistic style) convey information to the general reader about an elderly person.

Keywords: regional media discourse, speech influence, media text, elderly person

Volkanova E.V. DIDACTIC POTENTIAL OF ETHNOCULTUREMAS IN TEACHING THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE TO SENIOR CLASSES OF SECONDARY SCHOOL. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 7 (204). P. 140-147

Introduction. The article considers the relevance of the formation of a foreign-language ethnocultural competence of high school students as a process of becoming a patriotic representative of their country in intercultural communication. The purpose of the article is to identify the didactic potential of the ethnoculturema, which is important to use when forming the foreign language ethnocultural competence of high school students. Material and methods. Theoretical analysis allowed to clarify the concept of “ethnoculturema” as a unit of education in the formation of foreign language ethnocultural competence, to justify and describe its types. These include: lacunae (interlanguage lacunae or reality), cultural background vocabulary and nomena (objectification of a person’s name and a place name). The analysis and synthesis of the works of leading researchers on the problem of lacunarity allowed us to identify the groups of interlingual absolute lacunae, which are necessary in the formation of foreign ethnocultural competence. There are the examples for each group, as well as their possible translation and explanation in English. Results and discussion. The author analyzed the possibilities of ethnoculturemas possible elimination, their most adequate translation transferring ethnocultural meaning in English. In conclusion, it is claimed that using the mechanism of “parallel connection of external cultural designation” is necessary. The meaning of this mechanism is specified with the reference to ethnoculturema elimination. The most effective way to convey the meaning of the ethnoculturema is a two-component connection for the lacunae and nomena, and a three-component connection for the cultural-background vocabulary. The examples are given in English with a detailed analysis of the mechanisms of their translation and transmission of ethnocultural meaning. Conclusion. The article concludes with a summary of the research revealing the practical significance of the use of ethnoculturemas elimination in the formation of foreign language ethnocultural competence in senior secondary schools.

Morogin V.G. Two Viewpoints on the Nature of Psychical Reality. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2002. Issue 3 (31). P. 61-66

The article treats positive and negative sides of the traditional view on the problem of the origin of the psychic. The author emphasizes the indisputable fact that the enormous amount of data accumulated in the arsenal of the sciences related to a human being, are impossible to explain from the standpoint of the officially recognized materialistic paradigm. He also points out the existence of extensive scientific research, the results of which obviously disagree with the evolutional theory of the psychic development of the person. The author presents arguments in favour of the alternative opinion, supported by the research based on the humanistic, existential and transpersonal concepts. He supposes that the alternative humanistic approach to solving urgent problems in psychology and psychiatry will be able to fill the void that appeared between the traditional Western thought and the philosophical system of the Ancient East.

Bogoslovskaya Z.M., Kulakovskaya K.V., Shchegolikhina Y.V. ANTHROPONYMS OF RUSSIAN GERMANS IN TOMSK REGION ACCORDING TO SURVEY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 4 (193). P. 59-64

The paper refers to the sphere of German studies, which is devoted to the language and culture of Russian Germans. The paper deals with anthroponymics – an understudied part of lexicon of the popular-spoken language of this ethnic community. The relevance of research topic is dictated by 1) urgent tasks of fixing, preserving and studying language and culture of Russian Germans as minority entities; 2) need to understand the linguo-cultural problems related to ethnoses and ethnic groups, with the use of still unused empirical materials, as well as testimony of metalanguage consciousness; 3) need for a detailed study of the nominal system of Russian Germans. The work was written due to the results of a fulltime audience survey of Russian Germans now living in Tomsk. It analyzes the names and demonstrations of metalanguage consciousness of representatives of this diasporic group. The names and demonstrations are represented in relation to proper names, which have German “color”. The aim of the paper is to determine whether Russian Germans’ proper names preserve the ethno-cultural connotation. The work results have both linguistic and historical-cultural significance. The combination of different ways of studying proper nouns of Russian Germans – revealing the procedural linguistic knowledge of subjects and referring to their declarative knowledge of German language allows to recreate links of anthroponymic system of this ethnic community. New lexical units, which clarify the notion of peculiarities of marks of Russian Germans are introduced into scientific usage. They can be used to compile anthroponymic dictionaries, a database of dying cultures.

Romanenko A.S. THE PROBLEM OF DEFINITION OF METHODOLOGICAL APPROACH TO STUDY OF LITERARY CONSTANTS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 9 (150). P. 126-130

The article attempts to determine the methodological approach to the study of literary constants in the framework of the interdisciplinary research on the border of cognitive linguistics and literary criticism. Literature is considered as one of the types of mental activity of a person, obeying the same laws as the other types of mental activity. It is believed that the textual study in the context of modern anthropocentric trends of Humanities should be displayed on the mental level. Therefore, we should conduct research with the involvement of the methodology of cognitive poetics. The unit of text analysis in this case is the artistic concept, which allows to track the process of formation of individual author's conceptosphere represented in the text. It is stated that there is the difference between an “artistic concept” and “сultural concept”, “conceptual art” and “artistic image” because the same artistic concept can receive representation through various images. Creation of a common terminology and a clear delineation of related concepts helps us to avoid mixing of methods and techniques of research, the receipt of erroneous conclusions. Due to concept as a literary category still is not fully understood, we believe that the development of methodology in conceptual analysis of literary constants is one of the primary tasks of modern philology.

Kuratov’s lyrical system is oriented towards the samples of realistic Russian and world lyricism, which has already mastered polysubject forms by the 19th century. Development by the poet of different forms of expression of author’s consciousness is connected with extension of the thematic contents of poetry. An analysis of poetic material made it possible to reveal the unconditional connection between the choice of the forms of expression of the author’s consciousness and the semantic aspect of Kuratov’s works. However polysubjectivity is characteristic of certain verses by Kuratov, which creates a poetic polyphony, and expand the functions of direct speech. Studying poetic works of Komi poet through the prism of their subjective system makes it possible to reveal not only the immanent features of Kuratov’s lyricism, but also to present the place and role of I. Kuratov in the development of the subject sphere and the poetic system of the lyrics of komi of the 1850s-1870s.

The article is devoted to the unsufficiently studied problem in German linguistics related to the choice of syntactic subordination in the quantitative word combinations with the second component expanded by an adjective (participle) Nquant+AdjN and eine Art +AdjN. The material analysed has shown that despite recommendations of classic grammar reference books to choose co-ordination as a type of subordination for the syntactic structure of these constructions, the genitive and prepositional subordination still exists and is the most widely used one. Moreover, the hypothesis that the syntactic organization of these constructions is determined by the grammatical characteristics of their components has been confirmed.

The author of the article considers the issue of how to improve the preparedness of students of pedagogical higher educational institution to work as Music teachers. The current strategy of modernization of the Russian education system is based on the key traditional advantages of the national pedagogics. In the sphere of higher musical pedagogical education bachelor’s degree programs are updated taking into account new requirements of the Federal state educational standard of higher education in Pedagogics. Consequently, training students for their future work as Music teachers is based on practice oriented approach to teaching. An important part of the structure of musical pedagogical training of prospective bachelors in a pedagogical higher educational institution is music and instrumental training of students, with ensemble performance being one of its aspects. The research shows that too little attention is given to this aspect in teaching practice. It results in the students’ inefficient mastery of practical skills for ensemble performance. The author reveals and proves the urgency of ensemble aspect of training from the point of view of pragmatism, which is one of the key trends in improving the quality of modern professional education. The author displays the importance of the ensemble aspect of training for professional activity of a modern teacher of Music. Taking into consideration the traditions of training students of different specialities to do ensemble activity, the author emphasizes the pedagogical significance of ensemble classes for development of students’ personal, creative and performance qualities.

Skripnik A.V. THE CHARACTER’S LIFE PRINCIPLES DEMONSTRATION IN THE LEXICO-SEMANTIC GROUPS OF VERBALS (ON THE BASE OF THE GOGOL’S STORY «NEVSKY PROSPECT»). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 2 (191). P. 109-115

The Gogol’s story “Nevsky Prospekt”, repeatedly becoming a subject of reflection for two centuries, is of interest to researchers for its multifacetedness and inexhaustible possibilities for interpretation. The author’s aim is the systematization of the story’s verbal lexicon into lexico-semantic groups and the demonstration of typological and mental differences of the characters. These differences were the subject of scientist’s reflection, however, in our view, they are not only in the ideological and semantic levels of the work, but, first of all, in the linguistic level. The author does not analyze the entire verbal lexicon, but only those verbs that are directly related to the description of the main characters - Piskarev and Pirogov. We rely on the definition of Z. D. Popova and I. A. Sternin who believe that “lexico-semantic group is a large group of words of one part of speech united by a single word-an identifier or a stable phrase-combination, whose meaning is fully included in the meaning of the remaining words of the group and which can replace the remaining words in certain contexts” [7, р. 95]. We also rely on the verbal lexicon classification, proposed in the dictionary edited by T. V. Matveyeva, considering this classification the most complete. The most frequent are the lexico-semantic groups of the following verbs: Pirogov – displacement in space (15), speech message (10), thinking (4), utterance (4), perception (6), penetration (4); Piskarev – displacement in space (40), perception (16), utterance (5), thinking (4). In addition, there are unique lexical and semantic groups for each hero. The total number of verbal lexicon in the case of Piskarev is much larger than in the case of Pirogov. That’s why Piskarev is not just a naive dreamer, but an actor who is trying to transform the surrounding reality. As a true romantic, he produces a modified (idealized) reality in his works, then – dreams, and finally he perishes, failing in the transformation of the real life and consciousness of the beauty girl.

Volkova T.F. FUNCTIONING OF MANIPULATIVE ARGUMENTS IN JUDICIAL SPEECH (BASED ON THE MATERIAL OF THE PROSECUTOR’S SPEECHES IN THE DEBATE). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 6 (218). P. 105-111

Introduction. The article considers the role of sophisms in the judicial speech of one of the Tomsk prosecutors. The significance of the research is determined by the combination of the problems of the effectiveness of modern judicial speech, the designation of its place in the structure of the judicial process with linguistic and phonological categories. The purpose is to assess the relevance of the use of sophisms in the speech practice of the modern Tomsk prosecutor. The object of the analysis is the speech activity of a linguistic personality-the prosecutor of Tomsk, a woman, 38 years old. Material and methods. The following methods were used: observation, scientific description, discursive analysis. The material was oral recordings of speeches of the Tomsk prosecutor, lawyer and the defendant, made during one trial. The volume of the material is about 11.5 words. Results and discussion. The article describes various types of sophisms noted in the speeches of the prosecutor: substitution of the thesis, false arguments, arbitrary arguments, arguments against a person, etc. It is found that rhetorical arguments prevail over logical arguments in the speech in the debate. Actually, manipulative techniques are concentrated in that part of the judicial controversy, which is called a replica. To confirm this postulate, the main theses were highlighted, which were proved and evaluated during the debate. Variants of speculative use of evaluative rhetorical techniques prevail. Less common are “false analogy” and “female logic”. There are few cases of distortion of the thesis: “narrowing-expansion of the thesis”, “substitution of the thesis”. At this stage, it is difficult to assess whether the commitment to manipulative techniques is an individual feature of the speaker, or it is typical for a modern judicial process. The use of sophisms is part of the traditions of modern judicial practice, which began in the nineteenth century. It is noted that in the case of using manipulative arguments, the feature of the speaker’s speech portrait is most clearly manifested: subjective assessment and emotionality. Conclusion. We can say that the chosen strategy, assuming the presence of sophisms, proved its situational effectiveness, since it probably became one of the factors that influenced the decision of the court that supported the prosecution. Each speaker, as a professional language personality, has his own arsenal of effective and ineffective ways of organizing a discussion, it is necessary to replenish his communicative arsenal with the most effective management strategies that influenced the court’s decision.
