| 3458 | Introduction. On the basis of a linguo-stylistic analysis of articles from English-language military journals, the authors study the language means of expressiveness of military publications, a deep knowledge of which allows the reader to understand not only the informative, but also the emotional element of their content. The aim of the work is to describe the variety and features of the use of linguistic means of expressiveness in modern English-language military publications. Material and methods. The authors studied dissertations and scientific articles in periodicals on the philology of Germanic languages over the past 10 years, as well as publications in such English-language military journals as Air Force News, Australian Defense Force Journal, Canadian Military Journal, Defense Turkey, Raider, covering the activities and state of the armed forces of Great Britain, the United States, Australia, Turkey, Canada and other states. General scientific methods of theoretical analysis, observation, generalization, and concretization are used. Results and discussion. A review of publications on the philology of Germanic languages over the past decade confirms the insufficient knowledge of the problems of the use of language means of expressiveness in English-language military publications and the relevance of conducting more in-depth research in this field of linguistics. Analysis of the content of English-language military journals indicates that military-political and scientific-technical styles dominate in articles of military orientation, although they also combine elements of artistic, conversational and advertising text, and the combination of elements of various functional styles in journalistic texts gives them not only typical features, but also expressiveness. The language means of expressiveness used in military publications can be divided into three groups: phonographic (alliteration, rhythm, morphological and lexical repetitions), lexical (epithets, metaphor, playing phraseological units, jargon) and syntactic (one-part sentences, emphatic constructions, inversion, antithesis, direct speech, quotation), the main function of which is to inform, attract attention, influence the reader, introduce certain psychological attitudes into his subconscious. Conclusion. In this paper, for the first time, the features of the use of language means of expressiveness in modern English-language military publications were analyzed. The results of the conducted research can be practically applied both for further theoretical study of the problem under consideration, and practically for improving the quality of foreign language education of cadets and students of military educational institutions within the framework of both the main training program and during training at military translators ‘ courses under the program of additional professional education. | 3459 | Introduction. А sensational story of Parasha Lupolova, the daughter of an exile, who in 1805 walked on foot from Siberia to St. Petersburg to ask Alexander I for mercy for her convicted father, served as a basis for a number of literary works. A consistent plot (we further refer to it as “parasha’s plot”) based on this true story was formed in the first half of the XIX century. Eventually it became so popular that it was reproduced not only in the author’s, but also in anonymous works of fiction of the last quarter of the 19th century. At least two periods can be singled out in the history of the development of the “parasha’s plot”: period of formation (first half of the XIX century) and period of modification (late XIX – early XX centuries). Aim and objectives. Among the aims of the article are: to introduce into scientific circulation the discovered anonymous stories based on “parasha’s plot”; to study interconnections of these texts; to trace changes in the plot code of these anonymous stories; and finally – to establish whether the patterns of plot development are universal for all so-called secondary texts, regardless of the source of their plot. Material and methods. As material for the study, four anonymous stories on the “parasha’s plot” related to the last quarter of the 19th century were taken. The work uses comparative and structural methods, as well as the method of intertextual analysis. Results and discussion. Anonymous stories based on the “parasha’s plot” reveal a close interconnection at the textual level, which suggests a sequence in which they emerged. The plot code of each of the stories demonstrates deformations or “empty spaces” (lacunae), which define the direction for the development of the plot in each subsequent version. Conclusion. Anonymous stories which belong to the second period of “parasha’s plot” development represent its integral stage, which consists in its gradual deformation both at the level of plot elements and at the level of ideological content. At the same time, the modifications of the plot code in the anonymous stories confirm the regularities revealed in the analysis of the plot codes of the secondary texts regardless of their plot origin. | 3471 | In his final article «Pushkin», Tynyanov has specified the two-sidedness of Pushkin’s semantics as a major factor of the poet’s literary evolution (“of catastrophic force and speed“). Semantic two-sidedness produces “varying” meanings and consequently can act as it were a regulator of contradictory understanding of Pushkin on the part of contemporaries and the latest literary generations. In this context, it is important to note the interest of Tynyanov to “a high ode”, having dual, two-sided nature. The Tynyanov’s formalistic attitudes excluded, on the one hand, the efficiency of psychological approach to the description of literary phenomena; on the other – created necessary conditions for forming up poetic forms, i.e. theoretically proved literary models. | 3474 | In present article there are the results of inner form analysis of idioms with the verbs of physical perception in the Russian and English languages. The purpose is to find isomorphic and allomorphic features. There are several types of phraselogical units but idioms are the most interesting for such analysis because they have the inner form based upon some kind of image. The inner form of idioms reflects the associative bonds between conceptual category of physical perception and other categories. The article demonstrates the analysis of inner form done by means of identifying associative models of phraseological inner form. The majority of the associative models are in visual perception that represents the importance of visual perception for native speakers and for the process of idioms creation in both languages. The article presents associative bonds of physical perception category with other categories and the similarities and differences in inner forms of idioms in comparable languages. Phraseological equivalents and coincident models of phraseological inner form represent the similarities of these languages. The connection of physical perception sphere and sphere of understanding, sphere of emotions, personal relations and others became evident. The fact that all associative models in English coincide with those in the Russian language may indicate the identical perceptual and cognitive apparatus. | 3483 | The article discusses the main tasks of the teacher of a foreign language in the system of higher education. It assumes the need to overcome the traditional process in the organization of foreign language teaching in non-linguistic universities that train specialists in different spheres of production. The focus is on teacher training that concentrates on the ability of students of non-linguistic educational institutions, their way of thinking. The possibility of using the system of knowledge of neuropsychology for the organization of a foreign language learning process for students of technical specialties is justified. It is noted that the transition from a traditional to a competence-based approach requires a complex change of their own personal position and the role of the teacher in the systematic management of linguo-educational process. The process requires the willingness and ability of the teacher to model linguo-educational process in a technical university with reference to the technological stages of training future specialists. | 3485 | The article deals with the cognitive foundations of the mental phenomenon of imagination as well as the language representation of the ability to form and model an image. Imagination as a mental activity is the ability to form and shape an image. Analysis of the language conceptualization of imagination is based on the method of a cognitive modeling of a situation, with the help of which it is possible to access the knowledge of the mental process studied. A large number of verb nominations verbalizing the process of imagination attests to the importance of this phenomenon for the English language picture of the world. According to the empirical material the situation of imagination can be categorized by verbs that differently characterize it. The generalization of the components of the semantic structure of linguistic expressions and the contexts of their representation have made it possible to construct a cognitive model of the situation of imagination with the following participants: the subject of imagination, the process of imagination (as the formation of mental images in a certain space-time environment) and the object of imagination (imaginary). The volume of the empirical material allowed us to identify and analyze the signs of the participants of the situation of imagination.
