This paper discusses the features of the use and semantics evaluation of verbs from the microfield “regular consumption of alcohol in large quantities” (one of the microfields that make up the semantic field “binge drinking”). The goal is to analyze the evaluation value of the verbs of the selected microfield. Material and methods. The article is written on the material of the National Corpus of the Russian Language and various explanatory dictionaries. The methods of continuous sampling, contextual and definitional analysis were used. Results and discussion. The evaluative component of the verb «пить» ‘drink’ (the core lexeme of the microfield) can be reconstructed only from the surrounding context, the range of evaluative values of this verb is very wide. The verb “употреблять” ‘use’ and“злоупотреблять” ‘abuse’ have a negative rational assessment (as a rule, these verbs do not have an emotional assessment). The verbs “пить” ‘drink’ and the expression “глушить водку” ‘to hit vodka hard’ have a negative rational and a conflicting emotional assessment (sympathy). Within the selected microfield, a group of verbs of argot origin is distinguished: they are characterized by a common seme ‘excessiveness’ and a similar contextual environment. Another separate group is composed by verbs with the common potential semes ‘animal’ and ‘loss of human appearance’. These semes are often actualized with the surrounding context. Conclusion. The lexical meaning of the verbs of the selected microfield can contain various evaluative components. Some verbs express both rational and emotional judgment. | 4730 | The article deals with the ways of metaphorical interpretation of images of thermal processing of food in the Russian language. The semantics, pragmatics, textual functioning of figurative words and expressions, metaphorically motivated by the verbs “boil”, “fry” and “bake”, which are used to name various objects, qualities, processes and notions based on the analogy with cooking are analyzed. The cognitive metaphorical models and their lexical-phraseological and text representations, typical for this fragment of the figurative language system and the world view are described. Metaphorical projections are based on three initial situations. 1. Temperature exposure, which is projected on a) exposure of sunlight, hot surfaces on objects, a person, sensation of pain in the human body (zharit’, pech); b) physiological discomfort due to being in a hot, stuffy room (varit’, zharit’, pech); c) anguish of mind , anxiety, a sense of longing, deep sorrow (zharit’, pech); d) negative social and psychological effects from other people or social circumstances (zharit’, pech). 2. Transformation of the product is symbolically associated with a) the change of the shape, color of the object, body parts, human skin (varit’, zharit’, pech); b) change in character, moral qualities of a person (pech, varit’); с) with the formation of social stereotypes, habits, principles of thinking fixed in mind (varit’). 3. The nature of the figurative base of metaphorical assimilation may be due to a certain method of heat treatment. Thus, when the products are boiled in water during cooking, the liquid boils, the ingredients are intensively mixed, and these processes are metaphorically projected on a) co-operative vigorous activity , teamwork and implementation of social and political projects; b) active intellectual activity; c) the unification of dissimilar phenomena within the framework of one phenomenon (varevo). While frying the product, one can hear a distinctive sound the frying pan (the dish hisses, sizzles), the oil can splash, the product browns quickly, which is the basis of a) a model idea of the intensity and/or productivity of the action, process; b) projections on a scandalous, tense socio-political situation. When baking, the product is placed inside the oven heated to a high temperature, which causes analogies with a) being in a hazardous situation (peklo); b) deprivation of liberty (upech), c) with pain feelings within the body. | 4731 | The article is of great importance due to the increasing interest of modern linguistics to issues of conceptualizing time in general and in fact in the perception of representatives of different cultures. The research is conducted on the basis of the Ket language that is crucial due to the raising interest of linguists to the endangered languages. The Ket language is a unique archaic language without literacy, and the only one representing language of the Yenisey linguistic family. The goal of the research is to elicit basic cognitive metaphors of time in the Ket linguage. The research reveals crucial methods to form temporal concepts, universal biologically supported determinated features of temporal representation in the perception of a person. The research also studies occurrence of universal characteristics on the language level on the basis of the Ket language. The research studies the nouns naming time periods and components of its syntagmatic environment. On the basis of comparison of initial and resulting metaphoric meanings of lexical units, the main metaphoric models to percept time in the Ket language have been specified: dynamic language model and static language model. Dynamic language model reveals time as a space that a human passes through. In the work a model of time movement is considered as the basis for language perception because means of its expressions are frequent and regular. Statistic model is considered as less relevant because used only in literal metaphors. The main spatial time image is a straight line indicating back and forth direction. | 4732 | The issue of teaching the technique of hopping simulation during the snowless period of skiers-racers on the training stage is considered. The value of hopping simulation as one of the means of training skiers for races in the preparatory (summer-autumn) period is presented. The urgency of the question is determined. The errors encountered in the practice of hopping simulation at the beginning and at the end of a pedagogical experiment are considered. At the beginning of the pedagogical experiment, the groups did not have statistically significant differences in the possession of the technique of hopping simulation, i.e. were considered homogeneous in composition. Errors are systematized by gradation (gross, significant, small). The experimental substantiation of the peculiarities of the training technique of hopping simulation is presented. Peculiarities of training methodology are compiled taking into account the stages of learning the motor activity, the schedule, the system of particular tasks, the means (exercises) and the principles of training. Each stage of training contains a list of particular tasks, tools, methodical techniques. The principles of teaching are explained taking into account the peculiarities of their application. A scheme for correcting errors in the technique of hopping simulation is proposed. At the end of the pedagogical experiment, a comparison is made between the results of mastering the technique of the motor action being studied between the control and experimental groups. The data are presented on the basis of the method of expert evaluations (fixing of errors admitted for each subject) and the method of mathematical statistics. The average scores for the technique of exercise in the control and experimental groups (on a five-point scale) were determined. The quantitative composition of the recorded errors in engineering in both groups is presented. Positive effects of the developed features of the teaching methodology have been noted. | 4733 | Within the new direction of social history, the subject field of which is the study of the social processes that accompanied the global conflicts of the 20th century, forms an objective idea about the attitude of the French-Canadian population on the problem of Canada‘s participation in the collective defense of the British Empire during the First World War. The paper examines the views of various groups of French-Canadian society (provincial government of Quebec, Roman Catholic Church’s representatives, French Canadian nationalists, provincial press of different social and political orientation) on the question of sending French-Canadian battalions to Europe. The chronology of the described events includes the first five months of the First World War (August – December 1914). As a result of the research, it estimates the level of imperial loyalty of the population of Quebec on the question of Canada‘s participation in the imperial wars. It studies the objective and subjective factors of the passivity of voluntary recruitment in Quebec (lack of military experience of the French-Canadian population, insufficient number of provincial police forces, traditionalism of the the rural population, anti-militarism propaganda of French-Canadian pacifists and nationalists, imperial policy of Department of Militia in Federal Government). It determines the role of the social movement for the creation of separate French-Canadian battalions in the process of activating recruitment and sending volunteers to the front. Documentary materials are valuable sources, greatly expanding and refining our understanding of the formation of a volunteer movement of young people in a difficult time for the country. The article reflects the issues related to the examination of the essence, content and types of volunteer activity of the youth in the war years. Presents the data on the history of the formation of the first labor squads of pupils – in 1915–1916 on the territory of the Kursk province to help families of peasants drafted into the army, analyzes the features of the volunteer movement of the youth at the initial stages of formation of voluntary student groups, reveals the difficulties encountered by the organizers of the squads. It was the labor squads that became one of the most widespread forms of organizing amateur volunteer initiative youth associations that cared for distressed citizens, solving the problem of labor shortage in villages throughout the country, which increased after the recruitment of older men. The need to study them is caused not only by scientific, but also by the practical necessity for a deeper consideration of the volunteer movement of the youth in pre-revolutionary Russia. Echoes of thoughts about the existence of a “special” omnipotent person of the new era are found in the philosophical concept of transhumanism, aimed at improving the quality and prolonging the life span, as well as at preventing aging and death. The concept of transhumanism is considered not only as a philosophical concept, but also as a world organization. The ideas of transhumanism are embodied in texts dedicated to prolonging the life and preserving the youth of a person, including in Internet texts. With the wide spread of media in all spheres of life, the development of linguistics has reached a new stage – a new branch called media linguistics has been born. The object of the analysis of the new direction is one of the key concepts of media linguistics – an Internet blog, which is an Internet genre, which is a network space of a certain topic and contains relevant information content (texts, images, multimedia). The chosen model of blog analysis as an Internet genre highlights media, pragmatic, structural-semantic, and stylistic-language parameters. As part of the analysis of this work, the stylistic and linguistic features of the English-language blog “SkinTour” are: specific names of articles in the form of rhetorical questions, characteristic lexical units (medical procedures), the vocabulary used for nominating cosmetics themselves; acronyms, antonyms, the degree of comparison of adjectives. Material and methods. The material basis of the research was the author’s research corpus of texts of the Englishlanguage blog “SkinTour”, from which 50 authentic articles were selected. In the theoretical part of the study, the concepts of transhumanism, blogging and Internet genre are described; the analysis of the material base allowed to synthesize the obtained segments of scientific facts and knowledge accumulated by previous generations and contemporaries; the parameters of the analysis were systematized. In the practical part of the work, the lexical and grammatical content of the texts of the English-language transhumanist blog “SkinTour” is analyzed. The methodological basis of the work is a systematic approach, the following General scientific methods are implemented: analysis, synthesis, induction, generalization (methods of logic); quantitative methods, grouping method (methods of statistics); method of component analysis (methods of structural linguistics). Results and discussion. Due to the wide spread of media in a wide variety of areas of human activity, there is an increase in the number of products of the “network space”, one of which is the Internet blog (hereinafter: blog). The vast majority (about 90 %) analyzed English-speaking blogs tagged “Anti-aging” (more than 500) contains in the title the tag “Skin” and focused mainly on the female half of the population that seeks to care for problem skin. The English-language transhumanist blog “SkinTour” is also aimed at a female audience, containing thousands of articles from an expert in the field of medicine. In the process of analysis, media, pragmatic, structural-semantic and stylisticlanguage parameters of a blog as an Internet genre are highlighted. As part of the analysis of stylistic and language parameters, the content of the English-language transhumanist blog “SkinTour” is represented by the following features: lexical features: article titles in the form of rhetorical questions; frequent use of terms denoting medical procedures and cosmetics; acronyms; antonyms; grammatical features: the degree of comparison of adjectives. Conclusion. The English language of blogs is an original reflection of the modern virtual world. Due to the variety of language materials in the Internet space, medialinguistics is a large field for linguistic research. Heterogeneity of texts in the media sphere is the key to the diversity of analysis of transhumanistic blogs. The practice of studying texts of Internet genres should be carried out in order to fix new lexical, grammatical, stylistic and other features of the media repertoire of the English language. | 4746 | The article points to analysis of one of the types of partitioned constructions – conjunctive constructions – usage in the up-to-date Russian language. Peculiarities of conjunctive constructions in newspaper text are examined. The research material contains publications of “The Russian Newspaper” over 2012–2014. Studying of the newspaper material shows that the most part of the conjunctive constructions is presented by partition unit which are used by journalists for the definite purpose. The article reveals means of conjunction that include coordinating and subordinating conjunctions, pronouns, parenthetical words, etc. It is pointed out that conjunctive constructions’ functions depend on genres of publications. Varied functions of conjunctive constructions as an element of informal speech in journalistic style are revealed: imitation of informal speech, facilitation of sense perception, emphasizing of pragmatic information and some others. The article considers the influence of social and historical factors on development of modern educational terminology. As an illustration of theoretical reasoning the article demonstrates some examples of borrowed general pedagogical terms and their equivalents in the Russian language.
