| 4651 | Introduction. The article examines images, motives, allusions tied to Italy in the prose of N. F. Pavlov. Pavlov’s Italian text corresponds to the one of the Lubomudry to whom he was close and to the Italian text of Russian romanticism as a whole. The issue of Pavlov’s Italian text is relevant: his creativity was not studied in this aspect, although his images and motives of Italy is a significant part of the cultural dialogue between Russia and Italy in Russian romanticism. The aim of the research is to reveal the imagological phenomenon of the Italian text in Pavlov’s stories and determine its specificity. Methods of research are comprehensive analysis and intertextual comparisons. Results and discussion. The research shows that Italian text plays an important role in Pavlov’s prose. As well as in the writings of Lubomudry, it is significant at the implicit level of motives and allusions. According to the tradition of German and Russian romanticism, Italy is tied to the art, beauty, and spiritual life. It is a part of the mythologeme of the beautiful South opposite to the North. The image of Ancient Rome as a symbol of strength and power is important. However, these connotations exist in the prosaic reality of high society; thus, Italy embodies lost values and ideals. Texts realize this viewpoint through Italian musical terms, proper names, allusions to Italian art combined satirically with the unspiritual reality. The use of “Italian” allusions through a foreign “author-mediator” is interesting. Some plot features point to a possible typological connection with the poetics of the Renaissance Italian novella. Thus, Pavlov’s Italian text is a particular semantic phenomenon close to the Italian text of the Lubomudry; it is tied to the philosophical issues, psychological collisions of characters, romantic myth of Italy and its art. However, it has some specific features. Pavlov’s Italian text is a significant part of the cultural dialogue between Russia and Italy. Practical significance. The research material may be used in such university philological courses as “History of the 19th century Russian Literature”, “Imagology”, “Comparative Studies”. Keywords: Italian text, Russian romanticism, cultural dialogue, allusion, imagology | 1883 | |||||

| 4657 | In this article the duality of mentality of a man of traditional cultures of Siberia and the North is characterized by a combination of empirical and pre-ioglcal elements of mentality. Empirical element of mentality of a man of traditional culture embodies individual practical experience of formal-logical order. But being indifferent to the objective cause and effect relationships of the phenomena, he reveals particular attentiveness to manifested and hidden mystical links between phenomena, the basis of which is the law of mystical contiguity of cause and effect. As a result of domination of such law a man of traditional society makes his behavior in the culture. This explains the duality of mentality of a man of traditional culture of Siberia and the North, whose empirical intuition is subjected to the «supreme collective notions*. | 1882 | |||||

The used method to study such a problem is a variational approach with Gaussian trial wave functionate. We approximate the equation to one loop in a Schwarzschild background. A zeta function reguiarization is involved to handle with divergences. The reguiarization is closely related to the subtraction procedure appearing in the computation of Casimir energy in a curved background. A renormallzation procedure is introduced to remove the infinities together with a renormalization group equation. | 1882 | |||||

| 4665 | The article considers individual aspect of time perception. Firstly, a brief theoretical review of problem studies goes. Depending on mood and activity, personal time proceeds either quickly or slowly and it can be either pleasant or not. Positive emotions bring a deceptive impression of a fast flow of time. Negative emotions, on the contrary, subjectively lengthen the time intervals. The practical part examines around 30 modern English set expressions denoting time as perceived by a person. The conclusion says that the perception of time as short/long or pleasant/unpleasant is expressed in speech through fixed collocations used by authors of modern fiction. Short time is described in dictionary English set expressions as “fun” and “it flies”. Long time “hangs heavily on one’s hands.” Unpleasant time is “bad, hard, dark, evil, rough, thin, lean and it is not one’s own. Pleasant time is “good, easy, the best of one’s life, the time of one’s life, high and there’s a lot of it”. Pleasant time “has its moments, it is one’s finest hour and it makes one’s day”. Fiction authors’ creative thinking depicts bad time as “poor, awful, dreadful, horrible, terrible, very uncomfortable, devil of a time and hell of a bloody time”. Pleasant time is “nice, lovely, great, excellent, delightful, smashing, terrific, fantastic, marvelous, riotous, and dead good”. | 4697 | The paper analyses figurative expressions with the denomination “bread” in the French and Russian languages. Figurative expressions of a language serve as an important source for getting information about national world perception because they reflect the spiritual and material culture in the language. The choice for figurative expressions with the components representing food is explained by the fact that food is one of the most vivid elements of national culture which is connected with the native speakers’ understanding of their national specificity. Although the French and Russian cuisines have distinctive features, four products are archetypically significant for both cultures: bread, butter, milk and honey. Their denominations in both languages are very widely represented in figurative expressions. The image of bread is the most significant one in the French and Russian cultures; figurative expressions with this component in both languages are based on the archetype of bread as the symbol of life, well-being and wealth. We believe that for assessing the potential of a figurative expression of a language it is necessary to combine the linguoculturological analysis with the analysis of discursive realization of a studied linguistic unit in different types of discourse. Thus the French figural expression “avoir du pain sur la planche” was analyzed both linguoculturologically and discursively in three meanings. The results have shown that this expression is widely used in different types of modern discourse only in one of its meanings. The results prove that discursive realization is the key element for studying figurative expressions and it should become the key component for complex investigation of the figurative layer of a language.
