| 3751 | Introduction. It is suggested that V. Nabokov’s story “The Spy” (1930) largely grows out of his drama “Death” (1923), which remains on the periphery of the interest of the researchers of Nabokov’s fiction. The grounds for comparing the works are found, first of all, at the plot level: the hero’s attempt at suicide and the experience of imaginary death. The aim is to compare the plot situations of imaginary death in the drama “Death” and the story “The Spy” in order to reveal the change in the author’s attitude to the mystification of his own life by a person, moreover, to the possibility of metaphysical (post-death) reality. Material and methods. The article examines the early V. Nabokov’s drama “Death”, which is close to the symbolist drama, and the story “The Spy”, which reflects the creative maturation of the writer. The research is based on the comparative historical method, as well as on the provisions of E. Erickson (personal identity) and V. I. Tyupa (narrative identity). Results and discussion. The author reveals a different interpretation of a similar plot situation: the situation of imaginary death outlined in “Death”, in “The Spy” is plotted, the author’s attention is focused on how a modern person will behave in a situation of freedom from previous conditions of existence. In Death, the hero in an attempt at suicide turns out to be an object of manipulation by another, and in The Spy, the hero performs lynching and himself mystifies further events. For both heroes, imaginary death brings imaginary freedom: but for a person with a romantic outlook it is an opportunity to free themselves from the crisis and acquire an identity (“Death”), and for an intact person of modern civilization – liberation from ethical boundaries in the ability to change identities in observing himself as another narration, and in the stories-hoaxes of the character about himself (“The Spy”). But according to Nabokov, rewriting oneself, playing with fate are doomed to failure. The finale of both works is the heroes’ awareness of their imaginary death and their freedom, but for the hero of the drama this is spiritual death, and the hero of the story renounces self-identity and assumes the position of a “spy” – self-observation while refusing moral responsibility. Conclusion. The conclusion is made about Nabokov’s concept of human existence, which is associated, first of all, with visual perception, the ability to see. Nabokov denies a person the opportunity to comprehend the essence of posthumous existence, the modality of vision is negative: imagination-composition is destroyed by the vision of reality. | 3760 | Introduction. The paper is devoted to the oligarchy’s description as an axiologically marked phenomenon from the language point of view. The necessity to take into account the perception of oligarchy in other cultures, the analysis of the national peculiarities of the oligarchy representation in the language, the need for the comparative research make the study of the mentioned phenomenon up-to-date. Material and methods. Mass-media texts retrieved from the sub-corpus of the British national corpus (NOW corpus) serve as the material for the analysis. NOW corpus contains newspaper and magazine articles dated 2010-2018. Results and discussion. Collocation analysis of the term oligarchy in the British national corpus is carried out according to the following criteria: types, characteristic features, co-occurrence with other concepts, metaphoric conceptualization of the phenomenon under study. As the result of the analysis it is shown that oligarchy’s representation in the British mass-media discourse is determined by social and discursive peculiarities of a definite linguo-culture. Alongside with the universal features (the connection of oligarchy with a definite sphere of human activity) the English language possesses special terms for denoting this destructive phenomenon in this or that country. In examining the relation between oligarchy and other negative phenomena the latter is viewed not as different from the rest of the destructive things but as synonymous to them (corruption and oligarchy, despotism and oligarchy, imperialism and oligarchy). The metaphoric representation of oligarchy is not constituted by a wide range of features. The theoretical relevance of the research consists in the development of the mass-media discourse and axiological linguistics’ theory through the analysis of the ordinary definition of the term on the basis of newspapers and magazines. The applicability of the study consists in the possibility of using the results of the analysis while studying other axiologically marked phenomena in different cultures and through the prism of different time segments. Conclusion. The paper outlines possible prospects for research, including consideration of the interpretation of the phenomenon of oligarchy on the material of English discourse in the diachronic aspect, which will complement the results and identify those aspects of the presentation of the analyzed phenomenon that are not present in the representation of the oligarchy phenomenon in modern English. | 3761 | Introduction. The article deals with a question of the discursive status of forensic medical examination texts, the existence of a separate sub-discourse of the forensic medical examination, which is at the intersection of medical and legal discourses, and its place in the typology of institutional discourses. The need to distinguish the discourse of forensic medical examination as a separate subtype of discourse, the description of its model and the study of it as a multidiscourse phenomenon is due to the peculiarities of the interaction of the two institutional discourses with a high level of formalization and ritualization. The aim of the article is to determine the status of the forensic medical examination (SME) as an area of social, professional and textual activity, its place in the typology of institutional discourses. Material and methods. The model of describing the institutional discourse of V. I. Karasik was chosen as the main methodological dominant. This is due to the fact that the studied area belongs to the sphere of institutional interaction, and the fact that this model allows one to identify own discursive parameters at the stage of initial analysis. This theory of discourse analysis makes it possible to define categories such as “participants of communication”, “conditions of communication”, “organization” and “methods of communication”. The material for the study was the full texts of 10 opinions of forensic doctors with a total volume of more than 100 pages, taken at a professional forum of forensic doctors of Russia in the section “Consultation Center”. Results and discussion. Communicators in the field of forensic medicine have a different status than participants in medical or legal discourse. The main type of communication is the type “doctor-forensic scientist – the examined”. Communication places are medical and legal organizations, as well as scientific organizations and events. The goals of the forensic doctor as a participant in the communication “forensic doctor – the examined” go back to legal discourse, while the strategy used is medical. The nuclear genre of discourse is the opinion of the medical examiner, which applies to both legal and medical discourse, and also contains a large number of discursive formulas, stable and specific. Conclusion. The main parameters of communications in the field of forensic examination correspond to the models proposed by V.I. Karasik, however, is not reduced to either legal or medical discourse. Based on the results of this study, a forensic medical examination may qualify for the status of a specific interdiscourse area. | 3775 | The paper presents the results of involvement of future mathematics and physics teachers in independent scientific research activity in conditions of realization of competence approach. In the case of such approach the competence is a general capability which is checked and created in activities. It is based on knowledge and allows the person to establish connection between the system of actions for successful problem solution. During the educational process, the formation of elements of competencies at implementation of curriculum is carried out by means of maintenance of the studied subject. The course of the differential equations has great opportunities for forming of professional competencies of future teachers of mathematics and physics, however the existing education guidance, according to the theory of differential equations, are obviously not oriented to form the competencies. Besides modern development of technology, chemistry, biology, ecology, geography, economics and other sciences is impossible without the use of differential equations. The solutions of Clairaut-type equations with a special right-hand part found in the paper are a new result in the theory of partial differential equations. In turn the organization of independent scientific research in the framework of the course of differential equations promotes the main goal of professional competencies of future mathematics and physics teachers, namely forming the professional competencies being ready to use theoretical and practical knowledge in science and education. | 3776 | The following article studies phonetic and prosodic changes in mother’s speech. We consider that the situation of awaking a child preconditions these changes. We propose the role of a mother as socially relevant. Mother’s speech is an informational key to the system of a native language. Basing on Russian and the French language, we analyze qualitative and quantitative changes in consonants and vowels in lexical units of different parts of speech, as well as changes in tone and rate of mother’s utterances. We take into account such phonetic phenomena as longitude of a sound, palatalization of consonants, changes of values in tone. The changes of values in tone are illustrated by graphs. The material for analysis includes audio and video of recorded talk between mothers and their children (age from 0 to 10 months). The participants were divided into two groups: 1) Russian-speaking dyad “mother-child” (5 participants); 2) French-speaking dyad “mother-child” (4 participants). To undertake the analysis we applied computer software package for the scientific analysis of speech in phonetics called PRAAT. Resulting in setting minimal and maximal values in tone of analyzed utterances, correlation of longitude of a sound with tone and pragmatic meaning we conclude that these features of mother’s speech are universal for the situation of awaking a child. | 3777 | Introduction. The paper focuses on the main term formation processes in the Russian language based on the field of oil and oil products desulfurization. Such features of the studied filed as low exploration degree and absence of term pattern bring this study up-to-date. Taking into account that the removal of sulfur improves the quality of oil and its derivatives, desulfurisation of crude oil and oil products is a strategic pathway not only for Russia, but also for other countries that extract and refine oil. A more complete understanding of the term formation processes has a positive impact on the development of the Russian language scientific worldview, and also enhances the professional qualities of Russian translators. Aim and objectives. The aim of current paper is to regulate selected terms of the previously unexplored oil and oil products desulfurization field according to the principle of term formation. This research is useful not only for specialists in this field, but also for translators working in the chosen sphere. Material and methods. The material for research is The Basic Terms in Oil and Gas Processing: A Brief Reference Book by G. Tarakanov and Transformations of Sulfur Compounds and Aromatic Hydrocarbons of Oils Diesel Fractions in the Processes of Oxidative Desulfurization by E. Krivtsov. Resuls and discussion. Basic word formation processes of the national Russian language, terminologization, and transterminization are widely-used at the level of the original vocabulary in the studied terminology sphere. The term formation with the adaptation of foreign language inclusions also occurs at the same level. The formation of terms based on the method of calquing belongs to the junction of the borrowed and original vocabulary. The Russian language is able to transcribe foreign terms, and its alphabetic system determines its ability to transliteration. Conclusion. Term formation processes in the Russian terminology of the “Desulphurization of oils and oil products” sphere on the basis of original vocabulary is more motivated than on the basis of borrowed. However, in the studied term system, there is a high tendency to adapt foreign-language inclusions, mainly Greek and Latin, which is caused by the medieval tradition to assign chemical elements names in Latin.
