| 1660 | This is meant to be a continuation to a series of the author’s publications devoted to the problems of teaching English as a second foreign language in a linguistic university (after German). The basic message which comes across from them is that there is a high correlation between the two foreign languages, what makes third language acquisition different in all aspects of teaching and learning processes. Here, we also briefly summarize the findings of a few studies that we have carried out, and take them a step further. This time we look at a fundamental problem for language pedagogy – principles that are applied in teaching a second foreign language. Hence, we refer to other writing on this subject, i.e. the existing classifications of basic principles viewed though through the component structure of professional competence of the linguist-teacher. So in surveying the factors determining the process of teaching and learning English after German (the peculiarities of the linguistic and ethnographic material; the peculiarities of the target group; the conditions of teaching and learning a second foreign language) we have tried to work out some principles that are supposed to be specific for the analyzed conditions: the principle of foundation and complementary connection with the first foreign language; the principle of constructive cooperation of the teacher and students; the principle of the spiral progression that implements the idea of intensification and extensification of third language acquisition. | 1661 | The artice discusses the role of lifelong learning for professional activity as a vital instrument providing both, current and perspective needs of labour market. Lifelong learning fulfills three main functions – professional, social and personal. One of the ways to deliver such kind of education is involving professional development programs, which can be delivered through in-service training in various formats (distant, face-to-face, autonomous learning). These programs can be arranged within various timescales with regard to government regulations and employer requirements. In addition, the staff participating in design, elaboration and implementation of these programs should meet the latest professional requirements in their area. It is suggested that professional competence among academics as people functioning like conductors between industrial sector and adult learners is of vital importance. For that reason, special attention is drawn to the programs for academics and doctoral training. As an illustrative example, the experience of participating in a PhD program at the University of Sheffield (UK) is described. This program is characterized as highly individualized, which leads to sufficient outcomes among learners. Along with that, the authors propose to borrow key aspects from Sheffield experience and adapt them for doctoral training in Russia. Finally, urgent problems in academics development are outlined, further steps and solutions are offered. | 1662 | The article discusses debatable issues related to the history of the Nazi concentration camp Salaspils. Appeal to these problems is relevant in connection with repeated attempts to revise the history of this camp in European historiography, as well as in connection with the lack of Russian generalizing works on Salaspils. The source of the research was unpublished materials of the Extraordinary State Commission (State Archives of the Russian Federation), materials on the criminal case of Friedrich Eckeln (Central Archive of the FSB), Nazi documents on Salaspils (Russian State Military Archive) testimonies of former prisoners kept in the Yad Vashem archives (Jerusalem), as well as published documents. The article examines the status of the Salaspils and proves the term “concentration” in regard to this camp. It means the camp had two main functions – exploitation and destruction of prisoners. The structure of camp management is characterized, as well as the problem of the number of children who have passed through the concentration camp and experiments on them. The number of prisoners and the death toll in the camp are considered. The author concludes that the number of victims in Salaspils could reach the figure indicated by the Extraordinary State Commission – about 50,000 people. About 7,000 of these victims were children. | 1679 | Numerical methods allow to circumvent the difficulties associated with lack of mathematical knowledge among the college students who are required to study physics. Using elementary numerical methods the models of various oscillating systems are built. A pendulum, a piston moving in a cylinder under the effect of pressure difference in a cylinder and a material point oscillating around the circumference under the action of elastic force, show a qualitatively different dependence between the amplitude and period of oscillations. Through the numerical solution of differential equations of the mathematical package MathCAD studied the motion of Kapitsa pendulum with a non-trivial restoring force. Construction of two - and three-dimensional graphs in MathCAD is applied to combine mutually perpendicular oscillations and obtaining Lissajous’s figures. Self-oscillating systems are presented in the form of models of the RC- oscillator with three-tier phase-shifting circuit negative feedback and the Wine’s oscillator. An example of relaxation oscillator is the model of the multivibrator on the dynistors. At the heart of a computer model of the generator on the tunnel diode is the use of current-voltage characteristics of N-type containing a section with negative resistance. The material may be used in the process of teaching physics at advanced level in secondary schools and junior courses of higher educational institutions. | 1680 | The article is dedicated to the concept of the myth about the poet in the work of Marina Tsvetaeva from the point of view of the organization of space in the verse text, primarily the sky space, because it plays an essential role in creating the myth about the poet, therefore, most important aspects are the image of the poet in verse cycles, its existence in space and the influence of the organization of space on the semantics of the myth about the poet. In the course of the research, the author applies not only to the declared cycles, but also to other poems, letters and essays by Marina Tsvetaeva, important for recreating the necessary context. The study leads to the conclusion that the semantics of the myth about the poet is inextricably linked with the space of the sky or the space near the sky. The basic principle of its creation is designated as metonymic, when the projection of a certain image on the poet sets the coordinates of a certain space. All the images participating in its creation can be divided into several groups: ornithological (images of birds), astronomical (images of the moon, sun, stars, cosmos and planets), mythological (images associated with specific mythologies) and religious (images associated with Christianity). Accordingly, we can talk about the different skies in which the poet is: the space of flight, the astronomical sky, the mythological sky and the religious sky. The semantics of the myth about the poet and the space in which Tsvetaeva puts him are in continuous interaction, moreover, the space of one or another cycle largely reflects the features of the poet’s work to which it is dedicated, and Tsvetaeva’s attitude to the poet. The didactic essence of these teaching aids application is the creation of multi-sensory learning systems complexes that are aimed at the interactive nature of learning, taking into account the personal characteristics of the students. Mobile learning is very closely related to the electronic and distance education, which is connected with any portable device, so that training does not have a rigid binding to the location of the trainee. In other words, mobile learning technologies reduce the restrictions of education. The need for studying the problem of developing cross-cultural competence in the context of higher education is covered. The theoretical aspects of developing cross-cultural competence in view of currently important values and aims of training in higher education system are discussed. The main methodological approaches to developing cross-cultural communication within the framework of professionally-oriented foreign language teaching – system based, activity and competence based, cross-cultural approaches are revealed. Based on the presented approaches the essence and the key concept of “cross-cultural competence” of the students are clarified. The structural components of cross-cultural competence are determined and described in detail. The structure of the cross-cultural competence is comprised of motivational, cognitive, personal and activity, axiological, reflective components. The concept of cross-cultural competence has made it possible to point out and reveal the basic principles of organizing and implementing the process of developing the cross-cultural competence in the framework of professional oriented foreign language teaching such as the principles of humanistic teaching, dialogic communication, learning professionally oriented thesaurus, openness to foreign cultures and ideas, integration into a different culture, critical appraisal of situation in cross-cultural communication. Traditional motives of suicide in Western drama are fault redemption, a desperate situation, honor, love, search for death as a form of “hidden suicides”. Russian Drama of the 19th century transfers motive of suicide from tragedy to a tragic farce or to “a comedy with suicide” by entering the motives “shammer of dead” and “unmotivated” suicide, which complicates the genre and distorts the mechanism of genre expectations. | 1695 | A comparative analysis of the effect brassinolide (BL) on the morphogenesis of the etiolated seedlings of nontransgenic (SR1) and three transgenic monoinsertion lines (IL18 № 7-1, IL18 № 7-11, and IL18 № 28-3) of Nicotiana tabacum L. on the early stages of ontogenesis was carry out. BL (10–6 M) significantly inhibited the growth of root and hypocotyl as at the non-transgenic, so and the genetically modified plants. The difference in the growth responses of etiolated seedlings for three transgenic and non-transgenic lines caused by exogenous BL was detected.
