| 4751 | The article deals with the problem of «concept» and «anticoncept» relations by the example of concepts TRADITION and FASHION in the English world picture. Concept and anticoncept are interrelated and interconnected. The relations between them and a metaconcept domain are similar to those of hyponyms and a hyperonym but not absolutely identical. Therefore, concept and anticoncept relations shouldn’t be described in terms of antonymy, because these two mental representations are not simply contrasted to each other. They have integrative and distinctive features that can be restored by different means, including association experiment. A study of association links can help in modeling the structure of the concept. The resulting verbal associations reflect the conceptual signs of the concepts TRADITION and FASHION, indicate a deep rootedness in the consciousness of the English cultural stereotypes which are a figurative representation of what is traditional and what is fashionable. The full spectrum of obtained associations allows to speak about the specifics of the conceptual connections in the consciousness of English-speakers. On the basis of the association experiment data analysis, it is proposed to treat concepts TRADITION and FASHION as concept and anticoncept correspondingly and to determine them as interrelated and interconnected oppositions included in the same metaconcept domain VALUES and forming its poles. A large number of names are received by those atmospheric phenomena or weather conditions which negatively influence economic activity: long incessant rain; snow with the wind, blizzard; cold weather. The considerable part of the Russian meteorological vocabulary consists of the names of long incessant rain while the Selkup language is characterized by a large number of the names of snow and cold weather. The library organizes, stores, and provides users with the Fund, including electronic materials, tactile-audio-visual plan, and other documents intended for the blind and visually impaired. In addition, it provides easy access to information for people with disabilities through the use of adaptive technology and heat engineering funds, provides support for vocational training, socio-cultural, recreational activities of persons with disabilities, promoting their rehabilitation and socialization through books and reading. The article makes an attempt not just to consider the activities and role of special libraries in providing people with various forms of disabilities with free and equal access to information resources and services, but also to determine the model of the development of institutions of this type. The above mentioned aspects of the mission of the special libraries are aimed at providing easy access to library information and cultural services. A model for the development of special libraries has been developed, which is aimed at improving the conditions for creating an independent life of the disabled and the disabled population of the Russian Federation through unhindered access to information and library and socio-cultural resources and services. | 4767 | The task of this work is to identify the features of foreign inclusions in the letters of the Romantic poets. Foreign inclusions in their correspondence are an important characteristic of poetics, which until now has not attracted special attention of researchers. The purpose of the paper is to identify and compare foreign inclusions in the epistolary prose of Vasily Zhukovsky and Konstantin Batuyshkov in the context of biography and literary creativity of the authors. It is concluded that Batuyshkov uses primarily Latin and Italian inclusions to incorporate intertexts of Romance culture, for self-identification and authentication of the correspondence partner; in the dialogue of the poet with Nikolay Gnedich these inclusions form a special communicative code. In the ego-documents of Vasily Zhukovsky German inclusions predominate and play a similar role, expressing the most important philosophical and aesthetic concepts of the Romanticism. The analysis of foreign inclusions in the epistle of Batyushkov and Zhukovsky allows expanding significantly the notion of the language biography of these authors. The results confirm the hypothesis that a particular author prefers certain foreign literature. Batyushkov’s letters represent full type of foreign inclusions, Zhukovsky’s letters represent full and partial types, he tends to fix foreign words on the derivational model of the Russian language, or to combine the graphics of the source language and Russian. Some types of foreign inclusions, used by both authors, fit into the poetics of the epistolary tradition of the Arzamas society. | 4780 | Introduction. The material of historical essays by E. P. Kovalevsky, devoted to the events of the Danube campaign, which was practically not studied before, is presented in the work. The aim of the work is to study the genre content of Kovalevsky’s essays and determine their role in the literary process of the 1850s. Material and methods. The research focuses on the work “Three chapters from the political and military history of 1853, 1854 and 1855”, written by a direct participant of the events and at the same time a representative of official circles. Published in “Otechestvennye Zapiski” in 1856, it is considered in comparison with the work “The War with Turkey and the severance with the Western powers in 1853 and 1854” which was published for political reasons only in 1866. The research uses comparative and cultural-historical methods. Results and discussion. The research shows that Kovalevsky’s essays are the first artistic interpretation of the Danube campaign events against the background of official circles’ silence on the political reasons for the beginning of the Crimean war. The originality of the author’s creative manner is shown in the synthesis of a documentary narrative with elements of essay and story. The problems of essays (the problem of the hero, patriotism) and their poetics (the description of nature, the role of the narrator) expand the horizons of the author’s creative search and give an impetus to understanding and presenting new material (form and content) to contemporaries. Conclusion. Typological features of the historical essay and its artistic features in the work of Kovalevsky are revealed. The study of the essay genre on the example of Kovalevsky’s “war stories” makes it possible to build a line of creative continuity in Russian literature (Tolstoy and Dostoevsky). This work will be useful for scientists of historical and philological profile: from the point of view of genesis, the synthetic nature of the essay genre and the literary and factual context of the events of the Crimean campaign. The article provides the survey of distance technologies implementation experience in response to forced transition to e-learning environment at the university classes of the English language. The objective of the work is to consolidate and summarize the findings of the questionnaire aimed at identifying students and teachers’ attitude towards the educational process transition to electronic format. Material and methods. Research statistics was taken from the questionnaire conducted in the first couple of weeks of online English classes and at the end of 2019–2020 academic year spring term. In order to solve the task the authors applied the following methods: the analysis of methodological literature on technologies introduction into educational process at English language classes, questionnaire given to university students and teachers. Results and discussion. The paper combines and generalizes the replies to the questionnaire about the very first experience of using e-learning environment fully instead of in-class activities for the English language classes at the university. Advantages and drawbacks of a distance education are mentioned as well as the level of educational process participants’ satisfaction with the language teaching quality within a new format. There are also some special aspects of teaching English online shown. It was defined that during these classes students and teachers had faced the major challenge – the lack of a real-life communication with verbal and nonverbal channels of information exchange. One of the undeniable benefits of a distance education when compared to classroom sessions is organizational aspect, especially time saving. Conclusion. Remote format of the English language classes is considered as a high quality alternative to in-class learning in situations when classroom settings are impossible to be organized due to different circumstances (pandemics, weather conditions, etc.). Practical focus of a “Foreign language” as a subject determines the significance of a real-life face-to-face communication during the classes. | 4782 | Introduction. The article reveals the specifics of the archetypal images of earth, water, and air in L. Goralik’s trilogy about Venisana, which, in our opinion, contributes to a deeper understanding of the main trends in the development of modern Russian-language prose. The purpose of the work: to reveal the originality of archetypal images in L. Goralik’s cycle about Venisana. Material and methods. The theoretical basis of the research was the works of Russian structuralists and mythologists. The research material is L. Goralik’s trilogy about Venisana. Results and discussion. The analysis made it possible to identify the characteristic features of archetypal images in the L. Goralik trilogy. The images of stone, earth, water, air reveal their symbolic nature, reflecting the inner movement of the heroine in search of finding the meaning of her existence, at the same time, revealing the deep desire of the individual to change a destructive, unstable society. Conclusion. The author is involved in a postmodern game with the text, plays with meanings, so that the plot that unites the trilogy into a whole can be interpreted as 1) the story of the heroine’s growing up; 2) transformation of the fairy-tale plot of the journey to the afterlife; 3) the struggle of the conscious/unconscious. The text of the trilogy is a step-by-step analysis of the spiritual life of the main character, trying to find her place in a destructive society and her own family, burdened with an analysis of her own frustrations and, first of all, the drama of birth. The heroine is bound by the laws of the stone, unfree world, trying to escape into the space of freedom, relive the euphoria of birth, which ends in disaster – the newfound freedom discourages with its alienation and emptiness. The scenario with some variations is repeated several times throughout all three stories included in the cycle. The lack of freedom associated with the world of the city (stone), depending on the situation, turns out to be hostile (at the beginning of the quest), and desirable at the end. The return to the usual way of life is again replaced by the desire for freedom and leads to the next round of transformation. If correct, it provides means of determining the mass of CSM along the line of sight. We study the distribution of mass in accretion disk, a natural candidate for the needed CSM. Accurate equation of state and Rosseland-mean opacities are used; several models for the latter are compared. We developed criteria, indicators and tools to determine self-educational competence formation of university students through interactive computer technology. Diagnosis of high school students conducted by electronic tests and questionnaires are available on the websites and moodle.gasu.ru and ank. gasu.ru. To prove the existence of statistically significant differences in the level of development of self-competence in the control and experimental groups was used Fisher’s test. After statistical analysis of experimental data it can be concluded that students of control and experimental groups have significant differences caused not only by random factors but a certain legitimate reason. | 4797 | The paper analyses figurative expressions with the denomination “bread” in the French and Russian languages. Figurative expressions of a language serve as an important source for getting information about national world perception because they reflect the spiritual and material culture in the language. The choice for figurative expressions with the components representing food is explained by the fact that food is one of the most vivid elements of national culture which is connected with the native speakers’ understanding of their national specificity. Although the French and Russian cuisines have distinctive features, four products are archetypically significant for both cultures: bread, butter, milk and honey. Their denominations in both languages are very widely represented in figurative expressions. The image of bread is the most significant one in the French and Russian cultures; figurative expressions with this component in both languages are based on the archetype of bread as the symbol of life, well-being and wealth. We believe that for assessing the potential of a figurative expression of a language it is necessary to combine the linguoculturological analysis with the analysis of discursive realization of a studied linguistic unit in different types of discourse. Thus the French figural expression “avoir du pain sur la planche” was analyzed both linguoculturologically and discursively in three meanings. The results have shown that this expression is widely used in different types of modern discourse only in one of its meanings. The results prove that discursive realization is the key element for studying figurative expressions and it should become the key component for complex investigation of the figurative layer of a language. | 4798 | The article deals with the ways of metaphorical interpretation of images of thermal processing of food in the Russian language. The semantics, pragmatics, textual functioning of figurative words and expressions, metaphorically motivated by the verbs “boil”, “fry” and “bake”, which are used to name various objects, qualities, processes and notions based on the analogy with cooking are analyzed. The cognitive metaphorical models and their lexical-phraseological and text representations, typical for this fragment of the figurative language system and the world view are described. Metaphorical projections are based on three initial situations. 1. Temperature exposure, which is projected on a) exposure of sunlight, hot surfaces on objects, a person, sensation of pain in the human body (zharit’, pech); b) physiological discomfort due to being in a hot, stuffy room (varit’, zharit’, pech); c) anguish of mind , anxiety, a sense of longing, deep sorrow (zharit’, pech); d) negative social and psychological effects from other people or social circumstances (zharit’, pech). 2. Transformation of the product is symbolically associated with a) the change of the shape, color of the object, body parts, human skin (varit’, zharit’, pech); b) change in character, moral qualities of a person (pech, varit’); с) with the formation of social stereotypes, habits, principles of thinking fixed in mind (varit’). 3. The nature of the figurative base of metaphorical assimilation may be due to a certain method of heat treatment. Thus, when the products are boiled in water during cooking, the liquid boils, the ingredients are intensively mixed, and these processes are metaphorically projected on a) co-operative vigorous activity , teamwork and implementation of social and political projects; b) active intellectual activity; c) the unification of dissimilar phenomena within the framework of one phenomenon (varevo). While frying the product, one can hear a distinctive sound the frying pan (the dish hisses, sizzles), the oil can splash, the product browns quickly, which is the basis of a) a model idea of the intensity and/or productivity of the action, process; b) projections on a scandalous, tense socio-political situation. When baking, the product is placed inside the oven heated to a high temperature, which causes analogies with a) being in a hazardous situation (peklo); b) deprivation of liberty (upech), c) with pain feelings within the body. | 4799 | Introduction. The article focuses on the ways human beings conceptualize, structure and make sense of their physical and mental experience. Mental states of perception, imagination, belief, knowledge interact tightly with one another and this ontological nature is represented in the lexical semantics of the verbs see, imagine, believe, think, know. Thus, the main concern of the study is to highlight cognitive-semantic grounds of the semantic shifts of the imagine class verbs and to reveal syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic properties of the utterances arranged by these verbs. Material and methods. The research is based on the empirical data from available sources and corpora data. The research is conducted within the cognitive linguistics framework where a common view is that meaning has a cognitive nature. Results and discussion. The paper explores how lexical meanings get extended in a particular cognitive context. The findings of the study suggest that the verbs under consideration function as IMAGINERY VISION verbs and as epistemic verbs in the cognitive context BELIEF. The results obtained suggest that meanings of the imagine class verbs (supposition/evaluative judgment/wrong opinion) imply that related word “senses” may be part of a continuum of meanings rather than discrete entity. The research highlights polyphony as an important double-voiced dimension of the utterances with the imagine class verbs in the cognitive context BELIEF. Conclusion. The findings of the study prove that the meanings of the imagine class verbs occupy overlapping areas of semantic space. The results obtained may contribute to further studies of the word meaning theory.
