| 1759 | The article presents the results of the comparative analysis of the dynamics of the formation of the indices of the students’ professional motivation in Ershov Ishim Teachers Training Institute (branch) of Tyumen State University. According to the authors’ opinion training of highly qualified teachers is the consequence of the timely development of the mechanisms of the increase in the students’ interest in obtaining qualitative knowledge, the development of the necessary skills, which correspond to their professional competence. On the basis of the qualitative analysis of the results of diagnostic procedures (K. Zamfir’s technique «Motivation of professional activity» (A. Rean’s modification), T. N. Silchenkova’s technique «Studying the motives of the pedagogical profession» and V. A. Yadov’s technique «Studying the factors of the appeal of a profession» (I. Kuzmina and A. | 1778 | The French medical discourse refers to institutional discourses and results from the interaction of a number of other discourses, such as advertising, medical academic discourse, legislative (legal) discourse in the field of medicine, scientific medical discourse and the actual medical discourse. It is characterized by polyphonic inclusions of social, historical, pharmaceutical, encyclopedic discourses. The article deals with the French scientific medical discourse and its genre palette. The concept of «genre» originates in antiquity being many centuries-old. The «Father» of the term «speech genre» is M.M. Bakhtin, who created the theory of speech genres, which under the influence of a new paradigm in linguistics has undergone same changes in its development, but still remains in demand. Modern linguistics does not have an exhaustive classification of speech genres. There are many definitions of the speech genre depending on the trend of the study. We consider that, the speech genre is a model, a canon, a relatively stable thematic, compositional and stylistic type of expression. Due to the heterogeneity of genre forms are different: macro-genre (hyper-genre), complex genre, nuclear genre, subgenre. | 1779 | The concept ‘Arrogance’ has a complex nature represented by script and image forms. In this article, I analyze the script component of the concept in the Russian language. I analyze the main components of the mental script of arrogant person’s behavior and attitude on the material taken from the National Corpus of the Russian Language. These elements include the agent, causes, action, aim, estimation and emotional components. I use corpus-based linguistics methods and model-based inquiry in my research. The agent is a person. The causes of arrogant attitude and behavior belong to two groups: a wish to oppose oneself to other people and a wish to isolate oneself from them. The more specific reasons for such opposition are ancestry, age, power, place of residence, nationality, wealth, position, knowledge and experience, membership in closed societies, spiritual development, and success. The reason of self-isolation from other people is a fear of possible psychological trauma, which people can cause. Verbs describing arrogant attitude or behavior can either have ‘arrogance’ component in their lexical meaning or be neutral. They characterize manner of speech, gestures, body language and arrogant person’s manner of looking at people. The aim of arrogant behavior is either opposing oneself to other people or selfisolation. The object of arrogant attitude is surrounding people. Estimation and emotional components are contradictory and depend on whether people understand the reason of arrogant attitude or behavior or not. Thus, the script of arrogant attitude and behavior has a double nature depending on the type of cause and aim, but the actions are the same in both cases. A person influences other people with the help of body language and manner of speech. People have a negative reaction to such behavior unless they understand the arrogant person’s fear of possible psychological trauma; in this case, the reaction can be sympathy or pity. In the language conceptualization of emotional states there is a special place for metaphorical representations based on sensory associations caused by one or another emotion. The category of emotional state of Disappointment is considered to be the part of semantic space of human inner world which is reflected in cognitive metaphors. The research task involves differentiation and description of specific types of the metaphorical models actualizing the emotional state of Disappointment in the English perception of the world. The study of religious and literary texts of hagiographic character of the Siberian Holy righteous elder Theodore of Tomsk in this article is carried out in the aspect of receptive aesthetics. The first part of the article is devoted to the study of “horizon of expectations” of the young readers of contemporary hagiographic literature. To do this, an experiment was conducted with a written survey of adolescents of secondary and Sunday schools of Tomsk to ascertain the sociology of their reader taste and competence. In the course of the experiment, the students answered the questions of the questionnaire, which allowed to identify the current and potential reader of the hagiographic literature with the existing ideas about the cultural concept of holiness, as well as clarify the attitude of the respondents to the hagiographic literature. At the present stage of the development of linguistics as a science, no common criteria have been developed that would be applicable to all the languages in order to distinguish the periods of their historical development. This is due to the significant differences between literary languages at all, as well as the lack of a common opinion of researchers on this issue. The development of a certain periodization is intended to regulate the accumulated theoretical knowledge of the changes that occurred at different stages of the formation of a literary language. English literary language has the status of a language of international communication and is heterogeneous in its nature. In its vocabulary there are layers of borrowings from many other languages. The borrowing process, in turn, is ambiguous, and also needs a detailed description. Speaking about the layer of Chinese borrowings in the system of the English language, it should be noted that this structural part of the language system has its peculiar features determined by fundamental sociocultural differences between the European countries as a whole and the countries of Asia. The peculiarities of Chinese borrowings are closely connected with the evolution of the recipient language, therefore it is important to consider the periodization of the borrowing process in the context of the two cultures’ interaction. The aim of the paper is to suggest a certain periodization of the borrowing process of lexical units of Chinese origin in the system of the English literary language, taking into account the system and historical parameters of this borrowing layer. Material and methods. The borrowing process is the result of the interaction of languages over a definite period of time. Today, the number of languages that are not affected by foreign influence is minimal. On this basis, borrowing process seems to be one of the inherent phenomena peculiar to the language system at various points of its historical development. The evolution of the language, in turn, is determined by both linguistic and extralinguistic factors. The latter are the socio-cultural basis, which, in many respects, determines the linguistic side of the changes occurring in the language in different time intervals. By its nature, language is a social phenomenon; therefore, the description of its system requires an approach that is able to fully reflect the characteristic features of the various stages, which also includes an understanding of the cultural and historical environment of language functioning. Results and discussion. The existing periodization of the English literary language is considered. The correlation between the temporal division of the language history into stages and the language situation typical for each of them is revealed. The criteria for distinguishing periods in the process of borrowing lexical units of Chinese origin in the system of the English literary language have been developed: 1. language situation, 2. type of borrowing, 3. diversity of intermediate languages, 4. equivalence. Based on these criteria, the periodization of the borrowing process of lexical units from Chinese is proposed: Chinese borrowings of the Early period (XVII-XVIII centuries), Chinese borrowings of the Middle period (XIX century up to 1978) and Chinese borrowings of the Modern period (1978 – present time). Within the three periods listed above, the scientific novelty is represented by the development of a new set of criteria determining the periodization of the borrowing process for lexical units of Chinese origin. The description of borrowings in the system of the English literary language in the role of a recipient language is given considering the language situation as a significant factor for the development along with the traditionally accepted temporal criterion. Conclusion. The developed periodization allows structuring the layer of borrowed lexical units of Chinese origin in accordance with the peculiarities of the English literary language (recipient language) at different stages of its historical development. Taking the sociocultural factor into account contributes to creating a more complete picture of the language system evolution. The materials of the current research have both theoretical and practical value and can be applied to developing university courses and teaching such disciplines as English grammar, phonetics, stylistics, lexicology, sociolinguistics, history of English, intercultural communication, also in teaching theory and practice of translation. The aim of the research is to study the somatisms that function in the texts of Russian folk proverbs, in the aspect of their realization of their lexical and world-modeling potential. Material and methods. As the research material, the texts of Russian folk proverbs containing somatism lexemes are used. The principle of selection of empirical material is based on a continuous sample of the most frequently encountered somatic units from texts. The research methodology consists of methods of observation, quantitative analysis, lexical and semantic analysis, with the involvement of elements of discourse and conceptual analysis. Results and discussion. Somatisms, the meaning of which is based on the meanings of anthropomorphism, play a significant role in the formation of the idea of a person in the linguistic and conceptual picture of the world. The conceptual meaning of somatisms is manifested differently in different linguocultures. In the presence of undoubted universal, constant characteristics inherent in all ethnic groups, there is a presence of interpretations due to the specificity of a particular culture. This becomes obvious when comparing the cases of the functioning of somatisms in the texts of Russian and Chinese proverbs: the named linguocultures are extremely different in cultural and linguistic terms. It was revealed that the greatest lexical and world-modeling potential, judging by the texts of proverbs, in the Russian linguistic picture of the world is possessed by the somatisms head, hand, and eyes. Each somatic lexeme has a specific conceptual meaning, an important component of which is the axiological component “value”. So, somatism, the head is interpreted as «the value of the intellect», the hand is the «value of vital activity», the eyes are the «value of personal participation.» In fewer proverbs, there are somatisms hair, legs, mouth, tongue, nose. In this list, interpretations such as legs, symbolizing the «value of mobility,» and hair, a marker of the anti-value of «external» as opposed to the value of «internal», are primarily evident. Conclusion. The study of somatisms in the aspect of considering their lexical and world-modeling activity, manifested in folklore texts (in this case, in proverbs), makes it possible to form an idea of fragments of the linguistic and conceptual picture of the world of an ethnic group.
