| 1801 | The article deals with the modelling of pilot falling from a height of 6 000 meters in water. It is shown that the use of computer algebra system (CAS) Maxima qualitatively improves the consideration of the topic “Freefall considering environmental resistance”, traditionally studied in the discipline “Computer simulation”. Maxima has found the general solution of the nonlinear differential equation and found a partial solution with zero initial conditions – the Cauchy problem. CAS Maxima has found the analytical expression for the rate of fall and height fallen down as the functions of time. CAS Maxima has obtained the asymptotic behavior of the rate of fall in the time and has calculated the rate limit of fall. CAS Maxima calculated numerically intermediate values of fall speed and height fallen down for the 15 time values in the range of 1–15 in increments of 1. These values are compared with analogical values calculated by numerical method in book, with the standard deviation for rate is equal 2 %. CAS Maxima has plot graphics the rate of fall versus the time. | 1802 | The work traces the interrelation of the toponyms, which are mainly folks’ names of agricultural lands, with the specifics of agricultural exploitation of the Russian population of the territories of Gorny Altai. The author’s field materials, collected at Ust-Koksa, Shebalino, Ust-Kan Districts of the Altai Republic at different periods, as well as the archival data have comprised the basis for the research. The author’s particular attention is the specific features of land management in mountainous areas with such properties viewed as an angle of slopes, exposition of slopes and a degree of density of population. Particularly important in the farming activities are even territories with low angles of slopes, and even more they are meaningful in the valleys with higher elevations. It is stated that the natural conditions of this region influence frequent division of lands for serving various purposes. The author reveals this idea in the local names of places. The research shows how toponyms of small ravines, springs and mounts may explicit the role of the man, and even of his family in the natural resources management of the territory. Moreover, the names of natural pastures depend on the land’s properties, including such as the order of their location and size. The introduction of a new administrative order of the management of agricultural use of lands during the periods of the work of collective farms destroyed the system of the traditional natural resources management, which had became useful for the Russian peasantry as a result of their ethnic adaptation to the conditions of Gorny Altai. The characteristics of this system are the inclusion into the natural landscape, having a chief of the land and rationality of the natural resources management in accordance with their natural geographic properties, which is understood as a result of segmentation of farm lands that serve various purposes. The folk’s geographical names have become a concentrate of all these specific features of natural resources management. Therefore, a toponym is a so-called symbol-word that has a number of associations and notions about the particular properties of a definite place and about the way how people use their natural environmental space. The framework provides students with an education stressing engineering fundamentals set in context of Conceiving – Designing – Implementing – Operating real world systems and products. Active learning is an essential part of the syllabus, which is supposed to engage students directly in thinking and problem solving activities. It defines the problem of using professional vocabulary in speech in solving problems and cases. The article gives the definition of a lexical skill; its significant features both situational correlation and communicativeness are necessary in formation and development. It discloses the specifics of professional lexical skill formation, presents the examples of phrases important for engineering students to master speaking. As a result, it suggests implementing exercises based on a widening rhythmic group, which is a short phrase – a thought consisting of some logically connected phrases where a key phrase is repeated in every sentence. A widening rhythmic group possesses all the qualities as any other statement. It means it has the aim to explain, to persuade, to give arguments. Exercises based on a widening rhythmic group can be used in different activities: speaking, reading, listening, and writing. The article proves the effectiveness of these exercises; it demonstrates the examples of widening rhythmic groups. | 1804 | Introduction. The article deals with the problem of modern English punctuation in a written communication of American mass media (The New York Times, San Francisco Chronicle). The paper is focused on the rules of putting comma as a sign, the functions of which are very contradictory and diverse, since in the same syntactic contexts it can be either allowed or avoided. The analysis of the comma functioning rules is explained by the fact that this sign often replaces all other punctuation marks in modern written communication. The aim of the work is to identify and explain the principles of comma functioning in modern communication (based on the material of American English) in order to facilitate the understanding of the laws of punctuation in the English language. Material and methods. The main research methods are the method of linguistic description, syntactic analysis, interpretative method, the method of stylistic description. Results and discussion. In the undertaken analysis, we claim that in American written communication, comma performs the following set of functions: dividing or separating syntactic units within a syntactic structure, highlighting the meaning, enhancing an expressiveness and semantic significance of a syntactic element, using the sign as an individualised stylistic means of expressiveness in the text. The scientific novelty of this work is systematization and scientific classification of functions typical of a comma from the point of view of the English grammar laws and their stylistic variation, which practically were not covered in other studies on the grammar of English. Conclusion. The proposed list of functions performed by comma in a modern American discourse allows us to offer students studying English a relatively complete overview of the possible meanings characteristic of this sign, and thus, remove some difficulties in understanding and mastering the syntactic theory of English. | 1805 | The purpose of the paper is to highlight the main features of the category of distribution in time and determine the basis for typological analysis of the selected Ket verbal derivational categories. On the one hand, the main semantic features of the Ket category of distribution in time are considered, on the other hand the attention is paid to the means of the description of these features. The analysis presented in the paper shows that the main feature of the semantic category of the verbal quantity is the split into two derivational patterns. The first pattern ‘iterative’ includes the opposition of multiplex and full-cycle verbs, the second pattern ‘semelfactive’ involves only one semantic class of verbs (sound production verbs), moreover it is based on the oppositions within two cognitive categories plexity and state of boundedness. | 2111 | |||||

| 1813 | The research of means verbalizing the modal semantics, and in particular of modal verbs remains urgent in modern linguistics as they express modal values of the possibility and need which are ones of the most important in the cognitive and communicative relation. In its turn, cognitive and communicative needs of society remain variable and that causes semantic function extension of the language means, which are constantly to respond to the needs of society noted above. In this regard the semantics studying of the verb müssen is especially significant. The purpose of the research presented in this article is to reveal specifics and to define the mechanisms of the past and current semantic changes of the verb müssen that have ensured its development as a modal verb according to cognitive and communicative needs of the German society. To that effect the original Old, Middle, Early New and New High German texts were studied. In the selected examples from the given texts by means of the method of semantic interpretation and using the method of contextual analysis the meanings of preterite-present verb müssen functioning as modal verb in the correspondent periods of the development of German language were determined. Due to the consistent usage of the method of comparison and collation in the process of analysis of the meanings their similarities and differences were determined. For more detailed reflection on the transformation development tendency in the semantics of the verb müssen appearing in modal function the methods of mathematical statistics were also used. As a result of the conducted research semantic peculiarities of the verb müssen functioning in various periods of German were specified and the mechanism of the past and current changes is defined. | 1835 | The article presents the experience of comparative analysis of the image of the lyrical hero in Russian and French poetry of symbolism in the aspect of lexical means of explicating the problem of life searches and searching for the meaning of human existence. It is demonstrated that the essence of the philosophical aesthetics of symbolism lies in the knowledge of the world on the basis of the idealistic concept of duality, according to which the world of ideas is considered true, and the real world is recognized as imperfect. The subject of consideration is the specificity of the organization of lexical level units involved in creating images of the lyric hero in the poetical texts of S. Baudelaire and A. Blok. Through the use of lexical-semantic, textological analysis and with reference to the dictionary data it is demonstrated that the rebellious heroes of famous poets perceive life through the tragedy aesthetics of symbolism. | 1836 | Introduction. This article presents a methodological reflection of the study of the value-semantic aspects of the representation of the hagiographic tradition in Dostoevsky’s work. Analysis of the artistic anthropology of the writer, ideological searches and spiritual conflicts, which determine the peculiarities of the problem and poetry of his works, allows to see the deep connection with the hagiographic tradition in its understanding of the world and man. The spiritual experience captured in the lives for the writer is not just a genre or pictorial tool, but a deep semantic vector, anthropological and axiological dominant. Material and methods. The material of the study is artistic and journalistic works of late creativity of F.M. Dostoevsky, the ego-documents of the writer, memories of contemporaries. The methodological basis of the study is the axiological approach, which is complex and includes cultural-historical, comparative, structural-typological, and biographical aspects. In the system of views of F. M. Dostoevsky, questions about a person, his spiritual and moral development, value attitudes and ideals are of great importance, are reflected in artistic creation, especially in the novel The Brothers Karamazov and The Life of the Great Sinner, take a basis among the life of the writer, his religious education and religious-philosophical worldview. Results and discussion. The representation of the hagiographic tradition is inextricably linked to the writer ‘s worldview, his system of values. In the system of views of F.M. Dostoevsky, questions about man, his spiritual and moral development, values and ideals are of fundamental importance, are reflected in artistic creativity, especially in the novel The Brothers Karamazov and The Life of a Great Sinner, take the basis among the life attitudes of the writer, his religious education and religious and philosophical worldview. Conclusion. The influence of the hagiographic tradition on Dostoevsky’s creativity is a complex problem both in terms of research aspect and methodology. In folklore studies the following motives are distinguished: birth and death, three kingdoms, big house, marriage, enchanted forest and magic escape. The latter is one of the most popular motives not only in folklore but also in literature. The author resorts to the classification of magic escape forms introduced by V. Propp: magic escape alongside with throwing things/objects, magic escape connected with transformations, magic escape and pursuit. Special attention is paid to metamorphosis due to which characters can transform into different animals or birds (a horse, a wolf, a swan, an eagle, a hawk, a loon, a bear, a ruff) or objects (a ring, a straw, a needle). The characters of a runaway (a young man) and pursuer (a witch, a sorcerer) are studied. The article makes distinction between fairy tale plots and compositions in Russian and Selkup folklore. Some common and peculiar features are found. Magic escape motive is regarded as one of the oldest, it dates back to ancient mythology and could be found in different folklore traditions. The author comes to the conclusion that different motives are interweaved in fairytale plots. Cultural and ethnographic background determines peculiarities of Selkup and Russian prose folklore. | 1844 | Introduction. This work explores the recreational function of Media also recognized as the recreational function, hedonistic function, function of mental regulation, function of emotional release, etc. by various sources. We suppose that modern media mostly pursue hedonistic aspects of broadcasting as the changed structure and new conditions of functioning increased consumer’s component of address activity. Aim and objectives. The aim of this article is to describe the specifics of the entertainment function of the media in the discursive space of convergent radio. The object of research is the discursive practice of convergent radio. Material and methods. The article considers new forms of media communication that are significant in the aspect of those technological and socio-cultural changes that led to the emergence of convergent radio. Based on the material of web pages and social network versions of radio channels, the discursive mechanisms for the implementation of the entertainment function are analyzed. On the basis of the theoretical provisions of discourse analysis and social semiotics, an assumption is made about the hedonistic nature of the entertainment function of convergent radio. Results and discussion. The work investigates the specialty of the hedonistic function of modern radio discourse. Texts from radio websites and social network versions of entertaining radio channels served as material. From the position of modern semiotics and discourse analysis, the main communicative models between the subjects of discourse, which are formed on the borders of hedonistic strategy of radio, are allotted. A big role was played by advertising discourse and PR both integrated into communication practice by strategies of radio which pursue consumer’s ideology of modern media. Conclusion. Thus the interaction of radio discourse, advertising discourse, and PR provides hedonistic effects of (targeted attention) and participation: based on action and semiotic codes the addressee forms a convenient psychoemotional area of their identity – the consumer of high-quality media products, the user of various services that replace social institutions such as libraries, cinemas, hobby clubs, etc.. In this case the interactive user shows the necessary activeness (for discourse practice) in choosing recreational products and engagement in consumption of such. | 1845 | Introduction. The article highlights the specifics of the legal discourse in the aspect of its institutional interdependence and space conceptualization of metaphor terminology. The aim of the article is to identify the interrelation between the SPACE (horizontal/vertical) conceptualization of the metaphorical terminology of the Russian legal discourse and the horizontal line classification by branches of law and the vertical hierarchical system of the Russian legislation system. Material and methods. The legal discourse notion and its specificity is considered through the prism of legislative system branch classification accepted in the Russian Federation. The conceptual structure of the legislation system arranged in the form of the horizontal line classification by branches of law and the vertical hierarchical system of conceptual metaphor representation is realized through the terminology of the legal discourse. Results and discussion. Conceptualization in the field of metaphor terminology directly reflects the conceptual structure of the law branch. Although there is a broad variety of grounds for classification typology, the conceptualization of knowledge structures depends directly on the branch of law. Legal branch metaphor terms are constructs of a particular branch of legal discourse, which transfer special concepts of mentality regarding the objects of a particular branch of legal discourse. Conclusion. The analysis of the specifics of the institutional legal discourse reveals the conditionality and interdependence of the knowledge conceptualization within metaphor modeling in the legal terminology. The nominative means for the concepts system transfer are based on the terminology concept system and are determined mainly by the legal context (i.e. legal branch). The content of the knowledge structures in the legal discourse terminology is determined and influenced by the evolution of the legal knowledge within the framework of language and socio-cultural community.
