In both Australian and New Zealand worldviews the spheres of national symbols and flora and fauna concepts excessively overlap. National symbols were created as a result of mental processing the concepts of native Australian and New Zealand flora and fauna. The purpose of the article is to identify the features of scientific linguistic habitus. The author proceeds from the interpretation of science as a form of social practice and understanding of its subjective basis as a set of dispositions (scientific habitus). The linguistic habitus of science is defined as one of the sets of dispositions of the subject of scientific practice, acquired in a particular socio-historical context by taking into account the peculiarities of its carrier, and reflected the linguistic identity of a scientist to a particular tradition (educational, disciplinal, national, cultural). Responding to the question of how linguistic habitus is associated with an actual scientific practice, what specific nature it has and what the mechanisms of formation are, – the author, firstly, asserts the existence of a gap between the linguistic habitus of science and scientific practice itself. Secondly, the analysis of works of local researchers allows to refer intertextuality, expressivity and dialogueness identifying to the features of scientific linguistic habitus. Thirdly, the dynamics mechanism of scientific linguistic habitus is described on the basis of theories of P. Bourdieu and W. Labov.

The article analyses a possibility to use the stem-building suffix -ein- in the function of the definite article in the gothic language. This suffix is based on the Indo-European pronominal root that used to have a demonstrative meaning (Jener-Deixis). Further use of the suffix -n- as a marker of relation to something resulted in its development into a marker of a constant, typical feature of a thing or a being that made them definite. The meaning of definiteness expressed by the suffix is revealed if one compares the use of abstract nouns derived from the same root and belonging to different declension types in the gothic language.

Investigations of electrical breakdown in acceleration gap of plasma cathode electron source are presented. The tested pressure range 0,01 -0,1 Torr is produced by only mechanical pumps. It is stated breakdown volt¬age decreases with emission current growth. The most probable reason is electric field growth because of ac¬celeration gap shortening as a result of plasma produc¬ing near accelerating electrode.
