Ilmandi, Fatiben L., Frankavizhia M., Reteri M. Entropy for horizons in theories of gravitation. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2004. Issue 7 (44). P. 80-87

A geometrical covariant definition of the variation of conserved quantities is introduced for Lagrangian field theories, suitable for both metric and affine gravitational theories. When this formalism is applied to the Hilbert Lagrangian we obtain a covariant definition of the Hamiltonian (and consequently a definition of the Energy) for a gravitational system The definition of the variation of Energy depends on boundary conditions one imposes. Different boundary conditions are introduced to define different energies: the gravitational heat (corresponding to Neumann boundary conditions) and the Brown-York quasilocal energy (corresponding to Dirichlet boundary conditions) for a gravitational system. An analogy between the behavior of a gravitational system and a macroscopical thermodynamics system naturally arises and relates control modes for the thermodynamical system with boundary conditions for the gravitational system. This geometrical and covariant framework enables one to define entropy of gravitational systems, wnich results to be a geometric quantity with well-defined cohomological properties arising from the obstruction to foliate spacetimes into spacelike hypersurfaces. This definition of gravitational entropy turns out to be very general: it can be generalized to causal horizons and multiple-horizon spacetimes and applied to define entropy for more exotic singular solutions of Einstein field equations. The same definition results also to be well-suited in higher dimensions and in the case of alternative gravitational theories.

Kim O.V. THE MILITARY FACTOR OF MODERNIZATION OF PRE-PERTINE RUSSIA IN THE MODERN ANGLOPHONE HISTORIOGRAPHY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2012. Issue 3 (118). P. 81-86

In anglophone historiography the modernization in prepetrine Muscovy is considered as the result of the military reforms and the external influences. The sources of such effects were located in the West as well as in the East. The “military revolution” has been recognized as an important aspect of the historical transformation of the state and society. It has identified the development of the fiscal-military state. Whereas the process of the new military technologies translation went out from Europe, the Ottoman Empire and the Golden Horde passed out the autocratic political model “of the Service State” and the concept of the fiscal policy. In the estimates of foreign authors pre-Petrine military reforms were effective enough, but they have increased social and cultural gap between Europe and Russia.

Identified during the analysis techniques are representative of the “feminine” type letters, because they have the appropriate symbolic content. For example, the machismo manifests itself in the motif of the “cast”, “objective”, feminine declares itself by the motive of the special life “order”. Acting in the process of writing as the translators of the consciousness of the authoress, engaged in the search for her own identity and in the expression of her own social preferences, the revealed motifs also represent various gender behaviors. Thus, specifically manifested in the character of correlation of the signifier and signified complexes, male and female elements manifest themselves primarily in different value orientations in relation to reality.

Tsygankova A.S., Tsygankova E.V. FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF STUDENTS’ GRADUATION PROJECTS BASED ON REAL INDUSTRY TASKS IN THE FAR EASTERN STATE TRANSPORT UNIVERSITY (1958–1989). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 3 (192). P. 121-125

The article discusses the establishment of students’ graduation projects based on real industry tasks in the Far Eastern State Transport University (former Khabarovsk State Railway University) as a progressive form of students’ scientific research at the end of the 50–80-ies of XX century. At first real-life graduation projects were introduced into educational process at the chair of “Railway operation” in 1958. The article presents a list of important students graduation projects of 1958–1960 completed for the Far Eastern Railway and the city of Khabarovsk. In addition, the stages of students’ the thesis design are analyzed, starting from information gathering to the presentation of projects to the examination committee. Also, the characteristics of real-life graduation projects are discussed such as the passthrough design (real and meaningful tasks of the industry were selected in the third year of the study, allowing students to do research in the format of coursework), group projects (the projects that require complex calculations were entrusted to a group of students), the use of computers for accurate design calculations. The author proves that students’ real-life projects were the most time-consuming form of research work as they were executed on the basis of real data; they were relevant, responsive and reliable and solved the tasks of the Far Eastern Railway and industries; they allowed students to be actively involved in the projects of industries, to adapt faster at the future workplace and have better career prospects.

Tuarmenskaya A.V. COGNITIVE PROCESS OF PERCEPTION THROUGH THE PRISM OF ENGLISH PHRASEOLOGY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 5 (202). P. 64-70

Introduction. A characteristic feature of modern linguistics is the study of language as a means of not only communication, but also the expression of human mental activity, giving access to his consciousness. Cognitive linguistics postulates the idea that language forms reflect all cognitive processes, one of which is the human perception of the world. The aim of the article is to identify the reflection of the peculiarities of perception in phraseological units of the modern English language. Material and methods. The work is carried out within the framework of cognitive linguistics based on a single cognitive methodology for the study of language structures. General and particular methods of cognition are used in the research, such as inductive-deductive method, the method of quantitative calculation and classification, the method of structural and semantic analysis of phraseological units and the method of conceptual analysis. The complex use of these methods allows to look at the theoretical aspects of phraseology from the point of view of the cognitive paradigm of knowledge. Results and discussion. The concept of perception as a cognitive process is defined. It is noted that different types of perception (vision, hearing, touch, smell, taste) are indicated in the English stable expressions by the verbs of sensory perception and the names of the corresponding senses. The article describes the reflection in phraseological units of the English language of such properties of perception as integrity, objectivity, meaningfulness, dependence on the personality of the perceiver, etc. It is confirmed that the perceived is subjected to further cognitive processing, manifested both in the language as a whole and in its phraseological system, in particular. The analysis of phraseological units formed on the basis of metaphorical and / or metonymic transference confirms the associative nature of human thinking. It is proved that the necessary intermediate link between perception and phraseological meaning is human experience. The study allows to understand better the nature of the relationship between cognition and the phraseological system of language, which can serve as a prerequisite for the creation of a separate branch in the science of language – cognitive phraseology, integrating the achievements of cognitive science and phraseology. Conclusion. The presented language material can be used in the practice of teaching English, and also included in the theoretical and practical courses in general linguistics, cognitive linguistics, lexicology and phraseology of the English language.

Keywords: cognition, the process of perception, human experience, metaphor, metonymy, phraseological units of the English language, phraseological meaning

Bolotnova N.S., Bolotnov A.V. Actual problems of stylistics in modern and historical coverage. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 3 (233). P. 56-64

The relevance of the study is determined by the importance of analyzing the main stages in the development of stylistics as one of the dominant areas of modern speech science. This area reflects a change in the scientific linguistic paradigm and a shift in emphasis from the study of language to the study of speech and speech activity. Although some stages of the development of stylistics have already been covered to one degree or another, it is important to summarize the existing observations and the dynamics of the formation of this field of knowledge as a whole. The purpose of the article is to analyze the problems and brief history of Russian stylistics in modern scientific interpretation, review various stylistic trends developing at different stages of its formation, and identify the prospects of stylistics. The material for the study is the works of famous linguists written in different years, including recent publications. Based on observation, analysis and generalization, the main features of individual stages and trends in stylistics development in Russia were identified, and the prospects for modern stylistic research in line with the new scientific cognitive-discursive paradigm in linguistics were outlined. The article points out stylistics as an important part of speech science and communicative theory of text, which is important for the formation of human speech culture. The dynamics of the development of Russian stylistics in the XX–XXI centuries are presented, the contribution of individual scientists to the formation of its various directions at different stages of stylistic development is characterized. The article notes the connection between stylistics and the theory of discourse and the prospects for the development of this field of knowledge, taking into account the change in scientific paradigms. The future of stylistics is connected with the communicative theory of text and related areas of knowledge in communicative, cognitive, anthropocentric, psycholinguistic, discursive and other scientific areas of modern Russian studies. The tendency towards integration with other fields of knowledge is decisive for modern stylistics, which has a strong theoretical basis, formed on the anthropocentrism and textocentrism of the humanities, and is strong in its scientific schools. The diversity of spheres of communication and speech practices of linguistic personalities of different types, the emergence of new information technologies and communication channels determine new horizons for stylistic research in the 21st century.

The QED ground state is studied for a four component Dirac fermion with the topological Chern-Simons term in 1+2 dimension. The Lagrangian for a massless Dirac fermion has the parity and the chiral symmetries. Spontaneous breaking of these symmetries can be found by evaluating the vacuum expectation values for fermion and anti-fermion pairs. We introduce approximate vertex functions and calculate the expectation values by solving the Schwinger-Dyson equation. We observe a smaller gauge dependence for the Ball-Chiu vertex function.

Pats’orka E.I. VALUE POTENTIAL OF EXISTENTIAL DIALOGUE IN THE SYSTEM OF PEDAGOGICAL IDEAS OF F. M. DOSTOEVSKY (THE STUDY OF „A WRITER`S DIARY” AND EGO-DOCUMENTS 1863–1880). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 3 (209). P. 22-29

Introduction. Phenomenological discourse in literature is connected with methodological orientation on perception of literary work as a phenomenon of author’s reality and event in reader perception. Due to such dialogue biorientation, the literary text ceases to be understood as a closed object, reaching the level of existential communication between the author and the reader with the basis for value event. Which makes it possible to talk about the possibility of revealing the perceiving consciousness through a dialog search for one’s word and another’s word. Materials and methods. The study uses analytical, descriptive, axiological methods and a phenomenological approach. The material for the study is the chapter of “A Writer’s Dairy” by F. M. Dostoevsky “One of the Modern Fales” (1873), ego-documents: notebooks 1863–1864, letters to A. G. Kovner (1877), N. P. Peterson (1878) and E. F. Yunge (1880). Results and discussion. As part of the axiological analysis of the text, the category “author’s position” was identified as an “aesthetic coefficient” of the value orientation vector of the literary work. The “position of the author” is understood through the dialogical principle, drawn by M. M. Bakhtin as the first definition in the polyphonic structure of the works of F. M. Dostoevsky. The dialogue of the writer is an all-encompassing concept, with neither temporary nor simple borders. This was directly reflected in the idea, genre and composition of “A Writer’s Diary”. Other modality, based on the conjugation of the Self and the Other consciousness, is characterized by position-value variability. The existential consciousness of the writer manifests itself in a word having a dialogue orientation. Dialogue is an attributive characteristic of existential consciousness. Personal Self shows itself as an object and subject through the situation of analysis of the process of self-knowledge. Conclusion. The process of the reader discovering not just the spiritual and moral foundations of the author’s personality, but the very situation of their formation is important in the situation of the value orientation of the young generation. Through the dialogue with the consciousness of the perceiving subject, Dostoevsky opens the way for the reader to acquire his Self (both I-author and I-reader).

Koshkarova N.N., Aleksandrova Y.A. LINGUO-COGNITIVE AND CULTURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE OPPOSITION “INTELLIGENCE-SILLINESS” (ON THE BASIS OF THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH FOLK TALES). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 4 (193). P. 138-141

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the linguo-cognitive and cultural characteristics of the opposition representation “intelligence-silliness” on the basis of the Russian and English folk tales. The underlying premises worked out in the framework of the linguistic conceptology serve as the theoretical foundation of the research. The linguistic conceptology is viewed as a branch of modern cognitive linguistics and it often focuses on the comparative analysis of these or those concepts. Folk talk as a genre reflects the reality and interprets it from a certain perspective. Moreover, folk tale can be considered as an axiogenic event which in its turn functions as a kind of an axiogenic situation. The opposition “intelligence-silliness” is analysed from the point of view of lexical explication, gender peculiarities and social status of the tales’ heroes. The conclusion is made that the English and Russian languages differ in terms of estimating and presenting intelligent and silly people. But at the same time intelligence in both linguo-cultures is associated with mental power, common sense, experience. Silliness always means lack of innate intelligence, wit and is even equal to greediness and laziness. The perspectives of the study are outlined. The representation of the opposition “intelligence- silliness” may be studied in the common language consciousness.

Keywords: intelligence, silliness, folk tale, genre, linguistic conceptology
