Rodionov P.V. STUDENTS’ PROFESSIONAL TRIALS IN VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATIONS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 7 (196). P. 195-201

The interrelation and interaction of volunteer and educational organizations in the field of vocational education currently remains insufficiently studied. The analysis of the problem shows that in the process of learning students may acquire experience in professional activities in the activities of volunteer organizations if these are professionally adequate communities of practice. This type of volunteer organization can be created by the educational institution in cooperation with the social partners – the municipality, state and private organizations. Students can get professional experience by being involved in volunteer activities, especially if these activities are provided by professionally relevant communities of practice. This type of volunteer organizations can be established by an educational institution in cooperation with social partners. The aim of the research is to study the educational potential of volunteer organizations to provide vocational experience for university and college students during their studies. The paper presents an example of establishing and operating a volunteer organization for students with the aim of widening the curriculum and providing students with an opportunity for getting vocational experience. The anonymous survey method has been used for investigating the influence of students’ involvement in volunteer activities on their professional identity. Changes in students’ motivation levels have been revealed by comparing their academic performance in general educational and in special disciplines. The results of the anonymous survey showed both the positive shift in the professional identity of students participating in the activity of the volunteer organization as well as increased motivation to study vocationally relevant academic disciplines.

Keywords: professional education, practice communities, volunteer organizations, professional tests, professional competencies

Matviyenko O.V., Ushakov V.M. Numerical Investigation of the Structure of the Swirled Flow in the Cylindrical Chamber with the Porous Medium. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2003. Issue 4 (36). P. 14-24

Gas flow through porous media is characterized by large vortex structures and large friction coefficients, resulting in an extensive momentum and interphase energy exchange between gas and the solid phase. The model used for flow in porous regions is at once both a generalization of the Navier-Stokes equations and of Darcy's law commonly used for flows in porous regions. The model retains both advection and diffusion terms and so can be used where such effects are important. In deriving the continium equations, it assumed that 'infinitecimal' control volumes and surfaces are large relative to the interstitutal spacing of the porous medium, through small relative to the scales that we wish to resolve. Thus, given control cells and control surfaces are assumed to contain both solid and gas regions. Based on this model, an efficient numerical technique has been developed and a numerical algorithm has been produced to study the processes in the porous medium channel.

The article discusses the concept of the safe area of childhood and the necessity of its formation to ensure the safe development of the child. Development of the safe childhood area is aimed at reducing threats for child’s life and health and occurs in the course of interaction of an environment and kid’s private world, as well as in the task of creating a safety culture. The analysis of the relationship between the components of the safe childhood space was conducted using methods of statistics. The established causal relationships guide the development of a safe childhood area. Environmental conditions have a direct impact on the formation of safety culture in the child’s vital world. High ecological risks act as a motive for the formation of adaptive reactions, including safe behaviour. Adverse ecological conditions promote formation of children’s safety culture, while adverse social factors decelerate its development instead. Technological and social threats stimulate educational institution to develop health-saving technologies. The development of healthy and eco-friendly among pre-school educational institutions creates safe childhood space. Adaptive-developing environment of educational institutions is a condition of adaptation of the preschool child to the society and the preservation of his health. Kuptsova N.E. ACADEMIC RECEPTION OF THE NOVEL «HERO OF OUR TIME» BY M. Y. LERMONTOV IN THE USA: HISTORICAL BACKGROUND. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 3 (215). P. 146-154

Introduction. The article is devoted to the completely unexplored subject in Russian Lermontov studies – the academic reception of the novel “Hero of our time” by the scholars from the USA. In the article the most reputable and representative works published in the USA about this novel are outlined and analyzed in accordance with the following periodization: publications of 1900-1960s, publications of 1970-80s and the modern publications of 1900s until now. The goal. Research of the academic reception of the novel of M. Lermontov «Hero of our time” in the USA. Materials and methods. Search and analysis of the publications, devoted to the novel “Hero of our time” by M. Lermontov issued in the USA in accordance with the periodization proposed by the author. Results and discussion. The focus of publications 1900–1960s is primarily the understanding of how M.Yu. Lermontov portrayed the Russian society of the 1830s and the main character of his work, an emphasis on the psychological nature of the novel, as well as a comparison with A.S. Pushkin. Among the researchers there is no agreement on the genre of the novel - for example, Mercereau classifies it as a genre of psychological realism, and in the preface to the first Russian-language edition in the United States, the Byronic character of Pechorin is noted. In publications from the 1970s to 1980s, there is a completely different emphasis. First of all, the internal structure of the novel is in the focus. Despite the fact that there is still no full agreement on the genre of the novel, most researchers believe that the novel «A Hero of Our Time» that he put an end to romanticism in Russian prose, which is the main innovation of Lermontov. The view on the main character of the novel has also changed - in Pechorin they see not Byronic, but demonic features. At the present stage, American researchers have new topics in the study of the novel «Hero of our time”. For example, the topic of the relationship between the Russian and Caucasian peoples attracts a lot of attention. In addition, if earlier only Pechorin was in the center of attention of researchers, now other heroes and heroines of the novel are also being studied. It is also interesting that Pechorin is now considered a post-romantic hero, and most researchers classify the novel as post-romantic. Conclusion. The conducted analysis and the proposed periodization demonstrably illustrates the evolution of approaches and interest to the various aspects of the novel and its heroes. The bibliography of the article is impressive itself and makes a significant contribution to the Lermontov studies. The authors of the publications included in the review are philologists, publicists, political scientists, anthropologists.

Introduction. The need to introduce teaching methods contributing to the development of a multilingual educational space in Russian universities is due to the necessity of increasing competitiveness of Russian higher education. Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is one of the methods for solving this problem. However, its successful implementation requires additional training of subject teachers, which implies the development of a set of necessary competencies, which in the framework of this study is defined as CLIL-competence. The objective is to define CLIL-competence of a subject teacher, describe its components, assessment criteria, and propose the ways of its development. Material and methods. The theoretical methods of comparative analysis, synthesis and generalization foreign and domestic research on competencies necessary for the high-quality CLIL-training implementation are applied. Using the method of pedagogical modeling, development of the CLIL-competence of a subject teacher and approaches to measuring its level are described on a step-by-step basis. The method of comparative analysis, synthesis and generalization of scientific and methodological literature describing the world practices of implementing CLIL, and the content of the exam TKT: CLIL have determined the content of the advanced training course aimed to develop the CLIL-competence of a subject teacher. Results and discussion. The concept of “CLIL-competence of a subject teacher” has been derived on the basis of general cultural, general professional and professional competencies necessary for a subject teacher to implement CLIL. The criteria for assessing the level of this competence and their descriptors have been developed based on the didactic principles of CLIL and the content of the exam TKT: CLIL. A pedagogical model for developing the CLILcompetence of a subject teacher has been built on the basis of the advanced training course “Teaching a subject in a foreign language based on CLIL” developed on the LMS Moodle platform. Conclusion. The effective implementation of CLIL being an approach contributing to the creation of a multilingual educational environment of a modern Russian university is associated with the need to develop an appropriate set of knowledge, skills and abilities among subject teachers, that is, a CLIL-competence. This task can be solved in the process of professional development using the method of pedagogical modeling.
