DISCOURSE STYLISTIC SPECIFICITY OF THE EVALUATIVE MEANS IN A REGIONAL EDITION (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE REALIZATION OF THE TOPIC “F. M. DOSTOEVSKY IN KUZNETSK” IN THE CITY NEWSPAPER “KUZNETSKIY RABOCHIY”) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 6 (195). P. 31-38

The article examines the influence of the city newspaper’s discourse on the system of the evaluative means having the specificity determined by the memorial and local historical function of the regional edition. Semantic and stylistic analysis of the materials of the newspaper “Kuznetskiy rabochiy” (Novokuznetsk) linked to the local historical dominant “F. M. Dostoevsky in Kuznetsk” shows that the meliorative contexts prevail. Due to the semantic and stylistic analysis of the evaluative contexts participating in the representation of the examined local historical dominant, it is possible to identify two connected components of the value content: the Kuznetsk events in the writer’s life as the cultural heritage of the city and F. M. Dostoevsky’s contribution to the culture. The first component is more concretized, while the second component, which is the base of the first one from the logical point of view, is presented by the repeated periphrases and appendices characterizing F. M. Dostoevsky as an artist in the general meliorative (normative) aspect. The materials not linked to the local historical dominant “F. M. Dostoevsky in Kuznetsk” present the great writer’s contribution to the Russian and world culture in a more multidimensional way. The memorial and local historical function of the regional edition determines, primarily, the ethical evaluation actualization; however, it interacts with other types of the evaluation as well – teleological, normative, and aesthetic ones. During the realization of such topics as the importance of F. M. Dostoevsky’s stay for Kuznetsk, the preservation of the memory of this stay, the value of the contact with the spiritual space of the memory, the emotional and expressive means are constantly used in the evaluative contexts. The emotional and expressive intensity of the contexts increases together with the role of the ethical evaluation. In the examined newspaper materials, the topic of the preservation of cultural memory is the central one among the topics representing the hyper-topic of Dostoevsky’s stay in Kuznetsk as the cultural heritage of the city. Particularly, it is presented not only by the meliorative pole but also by the pejorative one actualizing the topic of cultural oblivion. Pejorative contexts are not isolated; they are used in correlation with the meliorative ones, which, due to such means as contrast, increases the pragmatic effect. Prevailing of the meliorative contexts in the representation of the local historical dominant “F. M. Dostoevsky in Kuznetsk” confirms the sustainable ideals of the regional community and the stable range of the materially embodied values discussed in the city newspaper.

Keywords: evaluation, evaluative means, emotional and expressive means, regional media discourse, city newspaper, local historical dominant

Chernyak V.D., Chernyak M.A. “WHEN IT WAS – FIGURE OUT, WHERE IT WAS – GUESS...”: NEKRASOV IN THE PERCEPTION OF THE XXI CENTURY READER // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 3 (221). P. 88-96

Introduction. The article deals with the problem of perception of the canonical Russian literature texts by contemporary readers. The 200th anniversary of N. A. Nekrasov is a significant occasion for reflection on the place of the poet’s heritage in the cultural memory and linguistic consciousness of the contemporary Russian native speakers. ‘Winged’ words and expressions from Nekrasov’s works have been an important part of the intertextual thesaurus of the native Russian speakers for many decades. Largely, it is due to unchangeable place of the poet’s works in school literature programs. The aim of the article is to show the changes in the intertextual thesaurus associated with the perception of winged words from t Nekrasov’s works. Material and methods. ‘Winged’ words from Nekrasov’s works are a significant part of the precedent phenomena corpus resented in the consciousness of a linguistic personality. The lexicographic sources and the Russian National Corpus evidence this. The data was also taken from a survey of contemporary writers and critics carried out by the Central Universal Science Nekrasov Library for the poet’s 200th anniversary. The results of a mass survey in which about 1,000 people participated were used to study the dynamic processes characterizing the differences in the cultural memory of young people. The respondents had to determine the authorship of the expressions written by several writers and poets, including Nekrasov, and continue some of them. Results and. discussion. The analysis of the questionnaires of famous contemporary writers and Nekrasov’s legacy still has a significant place in the modern cultural space. At the same time, the article results confirm the opinion that Nekrasov’s works have mainly form of the clichéd phrases in the thesaurus of youth. Conclusion. The conducted mass survey indicates a clear change in the cultural code of a young contemporary reader, a noticeable poverty of the intertextual thesaurus. This may be an obstacle to the cultural dialogue of different generations representatives, as well as to the adequate perception of texts.

Shulgina E.M., Savitskaya I.S., Zhitkova E.V. Conditions for building of language environment in higher educational institutions for nonlinguistic students’ intercultural and professional development // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 2 (226). P. 70-76

The purpose of the paper is to consider the key trends of the society transformation into a digital environment and the current conditions that the contemporary reality dictates. The contemporary environment determines the organizational changes within a modern university by searching for new mechanisms and methods for educational process managing when teaching a foreign language to non-linguistic students with an enhanced professional component that can promote forming a new infrastructure and consequently a new language environment via professional interpersonal communication. The research ambition is to explore the conditions for the formation and development of a new infrastructure within a multicultural educational environment; how this educational environment responds to newly emerging challenges and what makes us rethink the paradigm of the existing educational language environment in the university. Therefore, it follows that the concept of creating a new favorable intercultural educational environment is important for modern universities, particularly in a multilingual and multicultural university environment. The main task for finding mechanisms to manage the process of teaching a foreign language in a modern university is their subsequent transformation and, as a result, the formation and development of a new special language environment, which can be formed under specially created conditions in order to increase the efficiency, reliability and quality of professional education. Moreover, the formation of a language environment within the university context in the process of teaching a professional foreign language to non-linguistic students on a new basis allows us to change the logic of learning processes. It makes us to move to new forms of learning, including online learning, based on the introduction of digital technologies, taking into account personal and professional development and interdisciplinary features. In the paper, the authors propose to consider the conditions for the development of a favorable educational environment within the concept of “Big University”, where the key element is the linguodidactic urban environment with active language practice. There is an assumption that the digital transformation, taking place in education as part of a change in the philosophy of foreign language teaching will somehow increase the professional component of students, including their skills and abilities, due to accessibility with the help of the use of professional interpersonal communication within a foreign language urban environment. The paper provides a number of examples of successful projects that encourage attracting both domestic experts, including the current faculty, and foreign professors as well as students of bachelor’s, master’s, and postgraduate degrees.

Yurchenkova E.Y. ON THE ETHNOCULTURAL BACKGROUND OF THE PLANT NAMES MOTIVATED BY THEIR HABITAT (BASED ON RUSSIAN AND GERMAN DATA) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 11 (176). P. 95-100

The article deals with the plant names motivated by their habitat. The study relies on regional and common names that belong to Russian and German traditional nomenclatures of plants and derive from animal names by a metonymic transfer. The author reveals common and particular bases of such transfer. First of all, the transfer may take place in both Russian and German if habitat of a plant concurs with habitat of an animal. Such correlation implies seven coincident habitats. Five of them are common in Russian and German. They are 1) woods, 2) fields and meadows, 3) waters, 4) marshes and 5) shadow places. The one habitat specific in Russian is steppe; the one specific in German is rocks and mountains. The other common bases of metonymic transfer are ‘habitat of a plant concurs with shelter of an animal, and concurs with a place animal usually prefers to stay or visit. To the specific German bases belong the following two: habitat of a plant concurs with pasture of an animal; and habitat of a plant concurs with a place for animal to breed. Another aim of the article is to show how important the ethnocultural background is for plants’ nomination. Common symbolism in Russian and German ethnocultures have such animals and birds like wolf, bear, deer, hare, snake, frog, toad, duck, swan and crane. That is the reason plants with similar habitat have similar names in both languages. Different ethnocultural meaning have elk, woodpecker, raven, crow and magpie (in Russian); as well as chamois, fox, cuckoo, stork, swine, cow, sheep and goat (in German).

The solution to the current extending Universe problem, and the description of all stages of evolution compels scientists to consider various cosmological models. We combine two different approaches to the description of dark energy: modified gravity theory and introduction of the additional fields. We investigate the accelerating and decelerating cosmological models with non-linear spinor fields and non-minimal interaction of gravity with a scalar field. Scalar - tensor models are rather simple and also allow us to clearly define the separate stages of evolution. We explained the role of scalar and spinor potentials for emergence of accelerating or decelerating cosmology.

Kozachina A.V. THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MYTHOPOETIC STRATEGY OF LEGITIMATION IN JAPANESE PEDAGOGICAL DISCOURSE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 6 (212). P. 20-26

Introduction. The current paper is dedicated to studying one of the 4 discursive strategies of legitimation identified by discourse analyst T. van Leeuwen, mythopoesis. The aim of the study is to reveal specific features of realization of legitimation discursive strategies and to interpret the results in the context of nature of education policy in Japan. Material and methods. The focus of our study is Japanese modern educational system and textbooks of the Course of Moral Education for elementary and secondary schools provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, MEXT. In order to uncover the legitimation strategies in the Course of Moral Education we used the method of discourse analysis and also the critical discourse analysis. Moreover, the method of content analysis and cultural linguistics method are also used. Results and discussion. All the sub-strategies of mythopoesis that was identified by T. van Leeuwen are found in textbooks. Moral tale demonstrates how protagonist achieves success relying on perseverance and diligence, which are in directly linked to the Japanese value gambari. Another story which refers to the inversion is also addresses to this value. Inversion is achieved by endowing the animals from the forest with the qualities of real social actors. The cautionary tale, in contrast, illustrates how the protagonist’s willfulness and unwillingness to obey social principles lead to his exclusion from the society. The symbolization story is an allusion of Japanese society itself with its laws and traditions. Conclusion. The analysis allows to identify the main areas of Japanese pedagogy, as well as to identify the values that are transmitted to the Japanese younger generation through pedagogical discourse. Although Japanese education is modelled after the Western countries’ system, it is still in close connection with moral standards which were the main construct of Japanese society from old centuries.

Zholudeva L.I. THE COMPARATIVE GRAMMAR BY G. M. ALESSANDRI AS A PIECE OF EVIDENCE REGARDING LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL CONTACTS BETWEEN ITALY AND SPAIN IN THE XVI CENTURY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 8 (197). P. 62-68

The present paper is devoted to a little-known XVI-century piece of linguistic writing – the comparative grammar of Italian and Spanish (“Il paragone della lingua toscana et castigliana”, “The comparison of Tuscan and Castilian languages”, 1560) by Giovanni Mario Alessandri, a Naples-born courtier. The grammar was meant both for the Spanish nobles eager to learn Italian and for the Italians who pursued a career at the Spanish court. In many ways “Il paragone” stands apart from the bulk of the Italian grammatical treatises of that epoch. Alessandri does not cite classic authors like Boccaccio or Petrarch to support theoretical points although it is on such XIV-century literary basis that the Italian language norm is based. The grammar contains a number of interesting comments of sociolinguistic nature, like those regarding social hierarchy and its impact on language use (the use of “Vostra Signoria”, for instance). It also gives an idea of how the ideology of Counter-Reformation could influence grammaticography in the Romance world (hence the frequent appeals to the authority of Catholic church – quite a queer feature for a grammatical treatise). G. M. Alessandri’s views on language have much in common with those of B. Castiglione, G. Trissino and other XVI-century Italian theorists of “courtly” language.

Kozachina A.V., Bazayeva Y.A. Linguistic representation of heterostereotypes in Japanese pedagogical discourse (based on the Japanese language textbooks for foreigners) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 3 (227). P. 40-47

In the 20th century, the phenomenon of stereotype started to attract wide scientific attention in the field of humanities, due to the occurred awareness of the influence of socio-cultural context on an individual. Nowadays we can see a growing interest in the research of stereotyping in pedagogical discourse, because while being seemingly unbiased, pedagogical discourse is subject to ideological influence and involves perception of information that inevitably transmits ethnic and cultural stereotypes and prejudices. That fact forms the necessity of detecting and researching the ideological content in written foreign language learning materials. The aim is to describe various ways in which heterostereotypes are verbalized in Japanese language textbooks for foreigners. The research is based on Japanese language textbooks for foreigners of elementary and intermediate level of proficiency. The major methods used are qualitative-quantitative, contextual and discourse analysis as well as some elements of linguocultural analysis. In the content of the analyzed textbooks we see the elements of stereotypical image of a foreigner represented by various linguistic means. On the vocabulary level, there are multiple positive characteristics of appearance, personality traits and Japanese language skills of the foreign characters residing in Japan. At the same time, grammatical structures, the existence of presupposition in some sentences, and the thematic selection of narratives often emphasize the insufficient level of integration of the foreign characters into Japanese society through the presumption of their temporary status in Japan. In addition, foreigners, especially Western culture bearers, are often shown making communicative mistakes, violating Japanese etiquette rules and causing trouble for Japanese characters. The analysis demonstrates main stereotypical features of the image of a foreigner in Japanese textbooks and the ways of their linguistic representation. Established patterns reveal the contradiction between the intentional transmission of the message of Japan’s openness towards foreigners and the perception of a foreigner as a member of the “out-group” that is deeply rooted in Japanese culture.

Gholi-zadeh R., Hosseini A. THE ROLE OF PSYCHOLINGUISTICS IN TEACHING RUSSIAN AT IRANIAN UNIVERSITIES // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 8 (197). P. 98-101

The current state of humanitarian science, on the one hand, and the objective conditions of the changed world, on the other hand, inevitably require a new comprehension of problems, both long-known and actual for the new era. And therefore, it is by no means a coincidence that there is a surge of interest in such young scientific fields as psycholinguistics and linguoculturology. The role of psycholinguistics in the study of RFL in the absence of a language environment is considered in the article. It emphasizes the importance of possession, along with the fundamental foundations of the Russian language and the science of it, psychological features and communicative culture of native speakers of the Russian language. Based on a comparative analysis of the facts of the Iranian and Russian linguocultures, examples are given of accounting for psycholinguistic factors in the teaching of the Russian language to Iranian students. Considering the fact that psycholinguistics is a relatively young science, however, it has firmly won the scientific space not only because of its interdisciplinarity, but also the novelty of approaches and, most importantly, the effectiveness of research. Psycholinguistics is the core of the anthropocentric trend in linguistics. While the object of research is a linguistic person – the general discipline of different disciplines that make up anthropological linguistics, each science has its own subject of study. The subject of psycholinguistics is linguistic personality, considered in the individual psychological aspect. Questions that are solved in psycholinguistics, are of pivotal importance for the methodology of teaching foreign languages. Successful mastery of a foreign language is its practical mastery.

Spatial Mobility anSPATIAL MOBILITY AND SPIRITUAL OSCILLATIONS: ESTRANGEMENT OF DIASPORIC FEMALES IN MULBERRY AND PEACH AND SEARCHING FOR SYLVIE LEEd Spiritual Oscillations: Estrangement of Diasporic Females in Mulberry and Peach and Searching for Sylvie Lee // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 3 (215). P. 135-145

Introduction. The problems of awareness of life difficulties, psychological needs and anxieties of women of the Asian diaspora, as well as their survival strategies are studied. Material and methods. This paper takes a comparative literature approach and textual close reading methods to interpret two novels written by Chinese overseas female writers. Results and discussion. Both Nieh Hualing’s Mulberry and Peach (1981) and Jean Kwok’s Searching for Sylvie Lee (2019) depict the diasporic experiences of female fictional characters in war times and peaceful contemporary era respectively. Even if the dates of publication of the two novels are across nearly half a century, there are a number of identical elements between them. For instance, both female protagonists suffer from constant cross-border movements, estrangement, even schizophrenia. This paper endeavors to tackle the problems that firstly why female diasporas fall into the estrangement predicament through ceaseless transnational movements, then what are the dialectical relations of spatial mobility and estrangement, and lastly how and why they forge the alternating personality and fluid identity. Conclusion. Through analysis, it concludes that the ceaseless spatial mobility experiences prompt the diasporic protagonists to estrange from their family, culture and self. Furthermore, spatial mobility and estrangement interplay between each other, and finally leading to diasporic women’s dual personalities, which can be seen as both the predicament and the survival strategies of those diasporas. That is to say, the flexible and fluid personality or identity is a request for them to survive in foreign countries. It is hoped that the discussion on those protagonists’ survival tactics will shed light on the exploration of the possible strategies to better the diasporas’ living conditions.
