Lomakova A.V. THE WORD-IMAGE “MEMORY” IN M. I. TSVETAEVA’S LYRIC POETRY OF 1920 // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 3 (209). P. 124-131

Introduction. The theme of Memory is a key one in culture and thus it is studied in history, sociology, semiotics, philology and other domains. The “Mnemonic Code” retains its significance throughout the entire career of M. I. Tsvetaeva as a poet. Material and methods. The aim of the article is to study semantic and stylistic features of the word-image “Memory” in M. Tsvetaeva’s lyrics of 1920 through the analysis of the lexical structure of the corresponding poetic text. The semantic-stylistic analysis is based on the theories of the imaginative speech substantiation by M. N. Kozhina and of the text paradigms by N. S. Bolotnova. Referring to both linguistic and textual paradigms goes within the textocentric approach in modern linguistics and the linguistic analysis of the literary text itself. Results and discussion. Semantic lexical paradigms present associative pairs and fragments of associative series of words and superword units within the lexical system of the text, already existing in the linguistic consciousness of the reader on the one hand and formed by the text on the other hand. Analysis of M. Tsvetaeva’s poems revealed semantic lexical paradigms based on semic recurrence, isotopic chains actualized due to such type of foregrounding as repetition, and semantic lexical paradigms based on semantic contrast. In 1920 M. Tsvetaeva wrote 4 poems containing the word-image “Memory”: “Good Night to a Stranger in a New Cell...”, “Psyche” (“Punch and Midnight ...”), “Running from Home…”, “How They Drink in Long Drinks... ” (Excerpt). They are written at the end of the third period of the poet’s creative work, they precede the new features of her idiostyle. The word-image “Memory” is associated with the main themes of M. Tsvetaeva’s works – the lost world, creativity, love. In the verbal associative network of M. Tsvetaeva’s poems of 1920, the word “memory” is accompanied by the usual lexical representatives “remember”, “forget”, phraseological unit meaning “without memory”. It actualizes in the locative “in memory”, in the spoken syntactic structure “what a memory” and it is accompanied by the epithets and descriptive adjectives as “bad”, “female”, “all”. Conclusion. The contextual meaning of the word-image “Memory” is based on a rich usual background and is explained in M. Tsvetaeva’s lyrics of 1920 through the themes of the vanishing old world, creativity and love. This further develops the trends outlined in the earlier poems, but they are expressed more clearly, expressively and deeply.

Keywords: cultural memory, M. I. Tsvetaeva’s idiostyle, M. I. Tsvetaeva’s lyric poetry, communicative stylistics, lexical structure of the poetic text, semantic lexical paradigms

Kritskaya N.V., Tran K.T. FEATURES OF “DÊMÈN PHIÊU LU’U KÝ” BY TO HOAI IN VIETNAMESE-RUSSIAN AND VIETNAMESE-ENGLISH TRANSLATION // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 6 (218). P. 83-89

Introduction. Though not being widely known abroad, Vietnamese literature managed to produce some texts enjoying vast popularity all around the world. One of such international masterpieces is “Dế mèn phiêu lưu ký” by To Hoai, which has been regarded as a classic children’s novel through seven decades. Up to now, “Dế mèn phiêu lưu ký” has been translated into more than 40 world languages including Russian and English. The book’s plot revolves around the adventures of a cricket in a world of animals and people, metaphorically introducing the ideas of good and evil, war and peace, ideals and life’s purpose in an insightful way. Aim and objectives. The purpose of the research is to analyze specific features of Russian and English versions of “Dế mèn phiêu lưu ký” by To Hoai. Material and methods. The research is based on 3 text sources: the Vietnamese original text of “Dế mèn phiêu lưu ký” by To Hoai, and its two versions: “Приключения кузнечика Мена” (transl. M. N. Tkachiov) and “Adventures of a Cricket” (transl. Dang Te Binh). The methods applied are general scientific (observation and description) and linguistic (text analysis, comparative analysis). Results and discussion. English and Russian versions of “Dế mèn phiêu lưu ký” may serve as an example of interdependence of the result of translation process and translator’s aims and objectives. Comparison of several aspects of the Russian and the English versions of the literary text (translation of proper names, description techniques, rendering of realia, transferring of folklore element) makes evident different translation techniques while translating the Vietnamese source text into the two languages. While the Russian interpreter emphasizes human features in animal characters and mainly amplifies description, having in mind younger audience, Dang Te Binh sticks to the Vietnamese original. One more distinctive feature widening the gap between the Russian and the English versions is visible intention of the Russian interpreter to emphasize Vietnamese flavor of the original text by deliberate foreignization of realia, preserving and even amplifying inserts of folk material. In this aspect, the English version, too, closely follows the Vietnamese text. Conclusion. Сomparative analysis of the two versions of To Hoai’s “Dế mèn phiêu lưu ký” shows two polar strategies of the Russian and the English interpreters. While Dang Te Binh’s version tends to stick to the source text and (in several utter cases) even simplifies it, the Russian interpreter chooses to amplify the Vietnamese text and underlines its ethnic affiliation.

Currently, the most crucial social order is to prepare specialists with a number of professional and general cultural competencies. The ability for lifelong learning is one of them. It implies, firstly, the presence of skills to surf the surrounding information, secondly, selectively choosing the professionally significant material and, finally, sharing it in situations requiring precise solutions. Due to the avalanche of information and communication technologies in our up-to date life, students have a great possibility to satisfy their specific interests in the process of individual reading in a foreign language. Within it, the professionally-oriented foreign language reading skills are posed to be essential in the global network. Thus, the main goal of the present paper is to describe the teaching methodology of professionallyoriented foreign language reading, developed and based on the theoretical research results. The established methodology of teaching includes four main blocks: basis (the aim and objectives set), methodology (education approaches, principles and pedagogical conditions establishment), content (speech and language material work out) and result (the list of developing skills). These blocks determine the substantive and structural side of learning. The observed conditions were reflected in the electronic tutorial aimed at reading skills’ developing (roughly-referential, assign-informative, produce-informative) to work with professional texts in the technical university. The effectiveness of the proposed method is clarified and evaluated in the consistent steps of education that supply and model every next stage. As the result, the illustrated methodology provides appropriate pedagogical conditions for efficient teaching and studying.

Butenko E.V. PAREMIOLOGICAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN FILM TRANSLATION (BASED ON THE RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LANGUAGES) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 3 (215). P. 102-109

Introduction. The linguistic research analyzes paremiological transformations in the film text and stud-ies the possibilities of their equivalent translation in the host culture. The relevance of the study is due to the wide use of proverbial units in the artistic language and namely in film discourse. Embedded in the matrix of the film dialogue, they become a basis for subsequent transformations in characters’ speech, creating a significant expressive potential because of their occasional character. Aim and objectives. Since the recognition of the original proverb in the modified version is the proof of an effective transformation, the aim of the study is to identify the linguistic means that contribute to recognition, decoding and adequate perception of the transform in the language of the host culture. Material and methods. The research is based on the proverbial transforms in the characters’ utterances of the animated film “The Lion King. Hakuna Matata”. Being of a theoretical-empirical nature, the lingua-stylistic study required the use of the structural and descriptive methods, which made it possible to pinpoint certain linguistic regularities of paremiological transformations. Results and discussion. The analyzed author’s transform is actually an epigram – an anaphoristic statement, concise and instructive. It reproduces the typical features of a proverb: didacticity, transfig-uration, implication. Renewing the traditional form of the paremiological unit, the epigram retains the semantic-stylistic identity with the precedent text. Alongside the semantic identity with the proverbial prototype, the transform also demonstrates the syntactic similarity, while seamlessly integrating into the context of the dialogue. The stated manifestations of the transformation process are explicable, since the transform is created according to proverbial algorithms, which ensure its correlation with the original proverb. The implicit mutuality predetermines and limits, to a certan extent, the variability of the lexical content and the syn-tactic pattern of a transform. This deductive reasoning can be a scientific contribution to the lingua-stylistic research in the sphere of paremiological transformation. It works efficiently in the artistic lan-guage, where, ensuring an adequate perception, the logical framework of a traditional proverb pro-duces derivatives, various and expressive in form. The lingua-stylistic research explores the game art resources of polysemy used in the transformation unit, and analyzes the exploited possibilities of translating a pun. The introduction of a modified proverbial unit — an epigram, for example – into the structure of a film dialogue is viewed as a stylistic citation technique, the functional value of which is confirmed by the appropriateness of its use in a certain situation of communication. The status of an intertextual unit, acquired by a transform in a character’s utterance, endows it with special significance and promotes the emergence of directed associations, serves as a means of strengthening argumentation and assess-ment. Conclusion. The transformation of paremias is the outcome of an artistically processed precedent text, where the structural and semantic fixity is revived by an expression, identical in content, but peculiar in form. Thus modified paremias are not perceived as lifeless folklore cliches, but real live compo-nents of speech use. Since brevity is one of the main components in the concept of «a proverb», its derivative is also char-acterized by semantic capacity and syntactic conciseness. Such models contribute to the creation of language compression required in subtitling, the most popular kind of film translation. This factor con-firms both the practical significance of the study and its relevance for the film industry.

Efendiyeva N.R. FEATURES OF THE TRANSLATION RECEPTION OF THE FAIRY TALE BY C. COLLODI “THE ADVENTURES OF PINOCCHIO” IN RUSSIAN LITERATURE OF THE XX CENTURY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 3 (209). P. 72-85

Introduction. A brief history of the Italian literary tale is given, the main features of its poetics are highlighted, the most important features of its reception in Russian literature of the 19th-20th centuries are characterized. The goal - is to present a comparative analysis of the translation of the fairy tale by C. Collodi “The Adventures of Pinocchio”, made by E. Kazakevich, and its translation-alteration, carried out by A. Tolstoy under the title “The Golden Key, or The Adventures of Buratio”. Material and methods. The material of the study was the translation of C. Collodi’s fairy tale “The Adventures of Pinocchio” into Russian, made partially by A. Tolstoy (the first four chapters) and completely by E. Kazakevich. When writing the article, historical-cultural and comparative-historical methods were used, allowing to consider the original and translated text within the framework of intercultural dialogue. An important place is given to translational receptive approaches and the imagological method. Results and discussion. The story of the creation of C. Collody’s fairy tale “The Adventures of Pinocchio” and its translations into Russian at the turn of the 19th - 20th centuries is revealed. Particular attention is paid to the Berlin translation of “The Adventures of Pinocchio” (1924) into Russian, made by N. Petrovskaya and edited by A. Tolstoy. This translation is perceived as an intermediary text between the C. Collody fairy tale and A. Tolstoy’s “Golden Key”. It is proved that the action in the work of C. Collodi is built according to the laws of commedia dell’arte, and by A. Tolstoy - in accordance with the traditions of the Russian puppet theater and an adventure story. The author analyzes the initial plot underlying the Italian fairy tale and the structural elements of the fairy tale, which the Russian author focuses on. The equivalent translation by E. Kazakevich of the fairy tale by K. Collodi is compared with the translation-remake of A. Tolstoy, which is characterized by plot and compositional contraction compared to the original, narrative dynamics and stylistic laconicism. Comparison of the C. Collody fairy tale with its translation by E. Kazakevich and the remake translation by A. Tolstoy suggests that a complex semantic and aesthetic connection is established between the original, E. Kazakevich’s translation and the fairy tale “Golden Key”, a text that has come from one culture to another directly affects this latter, enriching it with new meanings, encouraging the creation of independent works based on the borrowing of images, individual plot schemes and motifs. Conclusion. Thus, one of the characteristic features of Russian-Italian literary relations in the field of children’s literature of the 19th-20th centuries was the activation of the translation process. It can be argued that the “inclusion” of Italian literature in the development of their own literature and in the spiritual life of the nation during these years in Russia was more intense than in other countries. Russian literature, perceiving Italian plots and images, gave them their own interpretation. The works of Italian writers opened up a new world and new ideas about Italy. The story of “The Adventures of Pinocchio” is unique, numerous translations became a twist in its fate, they gave the fairy tale a new life in a different language environment. Translations that exist along with the original in various cultural contexts, regardless of space and time, gave the literary fairy tale the opportunity to live an infinite number of lives. In the XIX-XX centuries the fairy-tale by K. Collodi translated into Russian by various translators entered the treasury of children’s literature and took forever its place in it, and each subsequent translation of “The Adventures of Pinocchio” only confirmed the invariable relevance and relevance of the tale to young readers. The work of C. Collodi is a thread connecting and bringing together the culture of Italy with the culture of Russia. The Italian fairy tale, thanks to the efforts of, first of all, A. Tolstoy and E. Kazakevich, became a “common” book for the two countries.

The results of investigations of the surface modification and alloying of metallic materials with the low-energy (up to 40 keV), high-current (up to 40 J/cm2) electron beams (LEHCEB’s) of microsecond duration are presented. The results of simulation of non-stationary temperature fields induced in the LEHCEB’s affected zone are given. The particularities of the structure – phase transformations into the surface layers of irradiated materials are considered. It is shown that the irradiation in the surface melting and initial evaporation modes allows to decrease noticeably the surface roughness and to clean it of harmful impurities. In the near-surface layers quenched from the melt the metastable structure – phase states are formed. These states in the aggregate with the surface smoothing and cleaning provide the enhancement of some surface-sensitive properties, such as, electric strength of vacuum gaps with electrodes made of austenitic stainless steel, fatigue properties of titanium alloys, wear resistance of high-speed steel and hard metals. It is shown that pulsed melting of the film-substrate systems allows to realize the efficient surface alloying

Tolmacheva G.S. Functioning of comparative adverbs (the study of statements with military adverbials) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 4 (228). P. 60-67

The study is carried out within the framework of functional grammar and is aimed at studying Russian comparative-assimilative adverbs of military themes. The aim of the work is to conduct a comprehensive study of the functioning of comparative-assimilative adverbs of military themes taking into account explicit and implicit semantic features, to determine the composition of this thematic group and to identify word-formation features and types of combinability. The research is based on the works of Russian linguists treating comparative adverbs from different points of view and applying different scientific approaches, as well as on the works of linguists studying lexical-semantic groups of words of the “war” thematic group. The illustrative material was taken from statements from the National Corpus of the Russian language and from a free selection from the Internet. The work was carried out within the framework of A.V. Bondarko’s theory of categorical situations of functional grammar, and elements of contextual and component analysis were also applied. During the research, the composition of this group of adverbs was distributed into semantic subgroups describing the behaviour of persons belonging to different types and divisions of troops, conditions of military service, military ranks and positions. In dividing into word-formation types, a special type with a qualitative-substantive connotation was distinguished, with the meaning of places of location and dislocation of military operations. The division of military adverbs into compatibility types was carried out taking into account the connective, adversative, qualifying and explanatory relations with the main word and as the result both general (according to appearance and speech, character and behaviour, situation and living conditions) and individual semes were identified. As a result of the study, it was found that to represent the behaviour of persons, objects and phenomena of military subjects, comparative-suggestive adverbs actualize in the minds of native speakers either a well-known image in the form of background knowledge, or one of the nuclear or peripheral features.

Еducation reforms in 1880–1890-th years contributed to the development of educational initiatives in some schools, especially in Sunday schools. Activities of teachers of Tomsk Sunday female school corresponded to the general trends in the development of education for adults. Students of different age-group studed here. Teenage girls prevailed among them. Teachers of Sunday school accumulated practice in management of youthful extracurricular reading. This was the innovation of methodical work of teachers. Firstly, they raised the question of the range of children’s reading in the framework of the adult school. The girls studied by the same books as the adults. Of course, this expanded the range of reading for young readers, has contributed to their development. But this required more methodical work of teachers. Secondly, the teachers of Tomsk Sunday female school thought how to instill love of reading in young female pupils. For this purpose they needed to develop their auditory skills first. So, the special role in methods of teaching assigned for teacher’s reading in the classroom. It was to be prepared, emotional, expressive, dialogical. Finally, the question of development of female pupils’ reading culture involved progressive mastery of their reading skills, at the beginning – emotional, later – esthetic, and then – conceptual and analytical. These conclusions allowed to analyze the teachers reports, the diaries of the school director V. E. Volozhanina.

Kavand M. WORD ORDER OF AS A MEANS OF EXPRESSION OF THE CATEGORIY OF CЕRTAINTY-UNCERTAINTY IN RUSSIAN AND METHODS TO CONVEY ITS MEANING TO PERSIAN // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 2 (191). P. 148-152

The category of certainty-uncertainty is a significant communicative category. This category is universal and in different languages it is expressed by various means. In the Russian language there are no special indicators of certainty-uncertainty – articles, however, these values are expressed by a variety of means, belonging to different language levels. In this regard, the word order is an important and interesting object for linguistic research. As a grammatical means, word order can convey not only information, but also the speaker’s attitude to the information or the situation of communication, and also specify the content of the spoken messages from the point of view of certainty-uncertainty. Based on the analysis of a large number of examples, the authors demonstrate the important role of word order in the Russian language, while in Persian there are more «tangible» grammatical means, such as the Persian indefinite article ی – ye. At the same time, the order of words in the Persian language in the value expression of certainty-uncertainty is of no importance. The ability of word order in the Russian language to perform a variety of functions, including expression of the categorial meaning of certainty- uncertainty, leads to a number of problems arising in the process of studying the Russian language by the Iranian students. The word order is actively used as a means of expressing certainty- uncertainty, and therefore when teaching the Russian language, it is necessary to explain, firstly, its significance as a means of expressing this category in the Russian language, and secondly, how it is transmitted in the translation into Persian.
