Due to the fact that there is a decline in percentage of university students involved in physical activity and decrease in the physical education programmes’ guidelines, the role of students’ involvement in extra-school sport is highly significant. The study indicates the results of the survey conducted among the girls-students of Tomsk polytechnic university to assess levels of extra-school sport participation. The analysis of the survey data reveals that one of the factors affecting students’ participation in sport and physical activity is poor physical education competence and skills. The study highlights that the issue raised calls for a multi-level approach including developing and promoting encouraging projects that have significant benefit to health and increase physical activity, and it must be supported by a strong information and knowledge base.

The article presents the analysis of the functional development of the Russian language anglicisms present in the texts of out-of-home advertising. For this purpose the meaning of the concept out-of-home advertising is revealed, the reasons of anglicisms loans and their theme groups in advertising are determined. Acording to the method of loan of anglicisms in out-of-home advertising there are: foreign-language blobs (ekzotizms), composites, abbreviations and hybrids. The active and universal use of anglicisms in outdoor advertising is explained by the functional properties of advertising texts (nominative, pragmatical and incentive functions).

Introduction. The digital platform for the organization of modern broadcasting significantly transforms the principles of information and communication with the addressee. Material and methods. The subject of discussion in this article is the communicative ways of implementing personal radio discourse. Results and discussion. The focus is on the image of the radio host, which is formed at the intersection of the strategies of self-presentation and advertising of the radio site as an information resource. The functional potential of the interaction of communicative strategies is manifested in how the author identifies himself through a set of roles of professional and personal orientation. The specificity of the author’s role realization is examined through the description of the macrotext structure – the sociocultural and genre features of the Internet blog, which serves as a precedent form of broadcasting organization. The social network principle of radio functioning determines the basic parameter of its picture of the world – the individualization of the process of interaction with the addressee, the organization of the psycho-emotional environment of identity formation. Conclusion. The complex of interacting communicative strategies becomes the discursive mechanism that determines the variability of the author’s role-playing behavior – a discursive personality that manifests itself in the process of interactive communication, in the process of forming a discursive picture of the world as a world shared with the addressee, a comfortable psycho-emotional interaction environment.

Asya Petrova is a modern St. Petersburg writer who is actively working in the genre of “school” story. Asya Petrova’s stories address an important question: why is it impossible or unsuccessful for a teenager to communicate with peers or adults? A related question: should a teenager distinguish between “own” circle of family / friends and a “wide” social circle of communication and, in accordance with this, choose a type of speech behavior? The choice of Asya Petrova’s works as a material for analysis is due to the fact that in most cases the writer finds for her characters the possibility of a positive resolution of conflicts; the finals of works are open to the future. Particular attention is paid to the story «Who says what – it doesn’t matter», since this work can be recommended to the teacher for a joint discussion with pupils in grades 6 or 7. The purpose of this article is to identify ways to solve the communicative failures of the heroes offered by Asya Petrova. The existential problems of the characters (the desire to “just say” and the feeling of the impossibility of this action) are realized in the same type of conversation situation. These situations mark the stages of plot development. The methodological basis of the study includes, in addition to the traditional system-structural concept of the artistic world of the work and the plot as part of the chronotope, the theory of the subjective organization of the narrative. Based on the concept of the dialogic word M.M. Bakhtin, methods of organizing the speech level are analyzed; in the study of errors and failures of dialogues, the theory of discourse formations of V.I. Tyupa is involved. The features of the genre of “school” story are taken into account. As a result, five stories by Asya Petrova are considered, offering several possible options for establishing communicative contacts between a teenager and people around him. The general invariant is the hero’s overcoming of isolation on himself, the emergence of a desire to help other people. In addition, the author declares the independence of the child’s personal statement, not subject to double communicative standards. The conclusions point to the significance of such a trend in modern teenage literature, which successfully combines psychologism in revealing the characters’ images and the author’s game strategies. The practical significance is seen in drawing attention to an actively writing modern author, who is still outside the attention of researchers in children’s and adolescent literature.

This article, based on the material of “AiF in Tomsk” appendix for 2008–2010 considers different types of regulatory strategies, which are typical not only for literary texts that were previously identified, but also for regional media discourse. The research is carried out with the communicative stylistics, oriented at the analysis of the dialogue between the author and the reader of newspaper and journalistic texts, which is possible owing to their particular organization and selection of language means. Different texts on the same topic analysis allowed defining some features of the journalists’ texts on the level of their regulatory tools, structures and regulatory strategies. The largest communicative effect, according to the survey of informants, is caused by regulatory strategy of paradoxically contrastive type thanks to contrast and irony techniques, as well as various regulatory tools.

The term “the national character of the literary creation” is in the base of our research showing how the language material can reflect peculiar features of a certain culture. Language and culture meet each other with the help of a concept. Usually an interpreter translates only a conceptual component, as a rule ignoring an associative-cultural one. In our work we reveal lexemes which reflect national concepts of Little Russia and analyze English translation of them. On the basis of Little Russian songs from the stories “The fair of Sorochinetz” and “A night in May or drowned maiden” we are revealing lexemes which reflect national Little Russian concepts, which are given in the texts of songs as ethnographic and political realia and analyzing a specific character of their translation into English.

The article discusses prospects of using the method of tandem leaning in Master courses of a multidisciplinary university. The conventional concept of tandem learning is broadened and it does not necessary apply to leaning foreign languages by means of intercommunication between two speakers of different languages. The author argues that in a multidisciplinary university a tandem can include Master students of various specializations. The article provides a reflection on a tandem learning experience when organizing Master of Linguistics students’ internship. In one case the second party of the tandem was Master of Engineering students, while in another case the second party of a tandem was students of an additional qualification program “Translator in the sphere of professional communication”. The two-year successful experience has proved the efficiency of using the method of tandem learning in a multidisciplinary university.

The article highlights the process of separation of the bodies of social security and domestic organization of military families from social welfare bodies. The article deals with the question of studying the structural properties of the academic medical discourse text of such type as “Original Research”, based on the material of the New England medical journal. It provides the characteristic of text-Background, text-Methods, text-Discussion, text-Results and text-Conclusions. The article presents the examples of the implementation of the information content of the above texts of the article in Russian in comparison with the submission of information in English. It describes the specifics of the linguistic manifestations of English sentences presenting the text of a medical journal article under study. It demonstrates the result of studying of what the text of the article of academic medical discourse is. The most significant factor of the study is that the analyzed article text is considered as a scientific conversation with colleagues, whose purpose is to discuss participation in the conduct of statistical analysis and public presentation of the results of research activities and intended for a narrow circle of specialists using natural science concepts and methods, information, bibliographic resources and medical and biological terminology in solving professional problems can be defined by verbal constructions, consistent and inconsistent definitions, prepositional and non-prepositional combinations of nouns with adjectives, nests of words, letter abbreviations (acronyms) and correlates with medical terminology by German and Latin symbols in written form.

Precedent phenomena of various types are an important part of an intertextual thesaurus. In the process of communication, the cultural allusions of communicants play a great role, as well as the application of their cultural backgrounds that include components of the intertextual thesaurus. Aim and objectives. The purpose of the article is to analyze the area of the Russian linguistic personality thesaurus that contains the catchphrases by Bulat Okudzhava – a prominent 20th century Russian author. Material and methods. Being constantly played out in the 1970–1980s, Bulat Okudzhava’s songs were shaping the cultural values of the generation. Many phrases from the songs got a folklore status, which is witnessed both by the dictionaries and by the Russian National Corpus. In order to study the dynamics characterizing the differences in the cultural memory of generations of fathers and sons an experiment has been carried out based on the 10 popular catchphrases from Okudzhava’s verse. These phrases underlie the survey covering an audience of approximately 1,000 people. Those surveyed had to determine the authorship of the phrases and to continue some of them. Results and discussion. The analysis showed that in most cases there are no links in the mind of respondents between the name of Bulat Okudzhava and even the most widespread phrases from his songs. The authorship was often attributed to fully unexpected names, which shows serious gaps in the cultural memory of the young. However, it was proven that Okudzhava’s catchphrases definitely exist in the intertextual thesaurus of the linguistic personality, which is surely determined by the interaction of verbal and multimedia information. Conclusion. The analysis of the dictionary entries and the corpus data proves the precedent status of many of the Okudzhava’s phrases. Nevertheless, the results of the mass survey reflect a significant change in the intertextual thesaurus of the young.

The article presents Tatiana Meiko’s (Tomsk) appeal to the genre of prosaic short stories in the context of children’s literature formation traditions and development trends. At the turn of the XX–XXI centuries many children’s writers develop such genre types as nature, autobiographic short stories, mini tales (fairy, about animals), anecdotes / humorous short stories, horror stories, etc. It is more rarely when writers create short stories in the tideway of paroemia and philosophic-lyrical story traditions. Such writings including T. Meiko’s short fairy tales present the phenomenon of “common” (I. Arzamastseva) literature, which appeals both to children and adults. The article presents the analysis of some peculiarities of T. Meiko’s short stories poetic manner devoted to existential-ontological and socialphilosophic problematic.
