Novitskaya I.V., Fedorinova Z.V., Vorob’eva V.V. OCCASIONAL WORD-FORMATION TYPES OF ABSTRACT NOUNS IN OLD NORSE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 4 (222). P. 15-25

Introduction. This article focuses on studying the functioning of the word-formation system and its components in Old Norse, one of the ancient Germanic languages, on studying the derivational potential of the Old Germanic languages for the production of abstract nouns. The purpose of the article is to describe a fragment of the field of the word-formation category, represented by occasional word-formation types of suffixed abstract nouns in Old Norse. Material and methods. The study draws on an analysis of Old Norse nouns with abstract meanings, marked by derivational suffixes -átta-, -andi-, -erni-, -eskja-, -osta-, -gi- and derived from nominal or verbal stems. The language data resulted from continuous sampling from etymological dictionaries of Old Norse. The analysis of the linguistic material involved using the methods of scientific description, generalization, and interpretation of results, the method of analyzing dictionary definitions, and the method of quantitative calculation. Results and discussion. The group of nouns marked by the Old Norse suffixes -átta-, -andi-, -erni-, -eskja-, -osta-, -gi- represents derivational types from the periphery of the derivational field of abstract nouns and refers to the declension types of feminine nouns in -ōn (derivatives with the suffixes -osta-, -átta-, -eskja-), of feminine nouns in -īn (derivatives with the suffixes -andi-, -gi-), of masculine nouns in -an (derivatives with the suffix -andi-), of neuter nouns in -ia (derivatives with the suffix -erni-). The proportion of lexemes with the analyzed suffixes, which are attested in Old Norse alone, is 2.4 % of the total number of abstract nouns corpus. These suffixes were formed on the basis of the Indo-European suffix morphemes, they were phonetically distinguishable in Old Norse and tended to join adjective or verbal stems to form abstract nouns. The limited number of Old Norse derivatives with these suffixes does not allow us to reveal the thematic profile of each suffix, however, the etymological links of the word-forming morphemes allow us to reveal some motivational features that might have contributed to the formation of the derivational types for the production of nouns with these formants. Conclusion. An analysis of the etymological connections of the Old Norse suffixes of abstract derivatives -átta-, -andi-, -erni-, -eskja-, -osta-, -gi- suggests that the word-formation types with them were included in the process of developing the word-formation category of abstract nouns and reflected results of their approbation.

Dolganova N.F., Sartakova E.E. To the question of the mechanisms of organizational and methodical support of training teachers for work in rural schools by means of the Master’s degree program of pedagogical university // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 5 (229). P. 84-92

The development of rural schools as the main group of Russian general education organizations has led to the task of forming a modern human resource with not only subject-specialized competencies, but also readiness for professional activity in the field of psychological and pedagogical support of the educational process, including means of digital didactics, organization of the process of self-improvement, etc. Professional development, the formation of pedagogical skills of a teacher in modern conditions of school in rural areas is possible only through his continuous education. One of the stages of formal continuing education for teachers of rural schools is a master’s degree. The purpose of this work is to systematize scientific ideas about the mechanisms of organizational and pedagogical support for the preparation of teachers to work in a rural school by means of a master’s degree of a pedagogical university. In the article, by means of theoretical analysis, the scientific knowledge about the peculiarities of rural schools in the conditions of modern complex structural changes is systematized, the specifics of the professional pedagogical activity of this group of teachers are highlighted. The position is proved that one of the mechanisms of professional development of a rural school teacher is a master’s degree with a specialized educational program. On the basis of historical and pedagogical analysis, a systematics of the leading mechanisms for supporting the professional development of a rural school teacher is proposed (including scientific and methodological, organizational and pedagogical, etc.), technologies, forms of its implementation (tutoring, curatorship, mentoring, etc.), the concept of organizational and methodological support of the educational process as the activity of actors in the design and implementation of interaction between subjects is introduced (students, coordinators, teachers), by means of the developed complex organizational and methodological activities aimed at improving its effectiveness. The content of organizational and methodological support of the educational process developed for undergraduates of Tomsk State Pedagogical University is analyzed. The implementation of this master’s program, including the author’s model of organizational and methodological support, will effectively solve both the tasks of training new professionals for the modern system of rural education, and create conditions for the formation of future researchers in the field of rural school pedagogy.

Emelyanova J.B. From general to translation-oriented listening: challenges and solutions // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 6 (230). P. 58-68

The article is devoted to the problem of teaching listening comprehension for interpreting purposes in translation-oriented foreign language training based on its specific character and related difficulties. Listening comprehension plays a vital role in consecutive interpreting as it involves listening to and analysing the content and message of the source text and accounts for a large number of difficulties that affect the process and the quality of consecutive interpreting. The aim of the present study was to identify the skills essential to listening for translation purposes which, however, pose significant challenges to trainee translators starting a senior phase of their professional training (year 3). The development and practice of these skills should be made an integral part of translation-oriented foreign language training. The participants were 3rd-year full-time translation students (29) enrolled on a 5-year translation training programme. After listening to a recording in English and reproducing it in the same language, the participants were asked to comment on the problems and difficulties they encountered; the teacher also monitored the participants’ performance during the listening and reproduction task. The data revealed (a) some specific obstacles mentioned by the participants which hampered the complete and profound understanding of the recording and (b) some deeper underlying problems identified by the teacher. Based on these observations, we identified four groups of difficulties caused by (a) the students’ approach to the perception of the text, (b) factors hindering the perception of information, (c) the topic and the characteristics of the information in the text, (d) psycholinguistic factors. However, the key problem is believed to be the students’ approach to the perception of the text, i.e., their inability to perceive a text as a complete structural and semantic unit which can cause or exacerbate other listening comprehension difficulties. To address this problem, we proposed a number of recommendations and professionally oriented learning activities which have proved effective in developing the skills required for listening comprehension for interpreting purposes. This effort can ensure continuity between language and interpreting courses and provide a solid basis for teaching consecutive interpreting.

Novitskaya I.V. The Problem of Interpretation Gothic Nouns (of the Same Root) Belonging to Different Declensions // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2005. Issue 4 (48). P. 27-32

The article deals with a group of Gothic nouns of the same root belonging to different declensions. It presents an overview of how much this linguistic phenomenon is spread in the Gothic language. Two present theories interpreting this phenomenon are being considered in the article. It is argued that the paradigmatic opposition of Gothic nouns of the same root had a semantic basis which can be decoded.

Lobanova S.V. THE “INNER CONTAINER” AS AN ELEMENT IN THE STRUCTURE OF THE VERBATIVE SYNLEXES // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 9 (150). P. 24-27

This article deals with the so-called verbative synlexes – composite, stable, only nominative (without cultural and basically without expressive or evaluative connotations) units of language. One can meet these collocations in texts of all functional styles. The term “synlex” was suggested by Professor G. I. Klimovskaya. In her opinion, the words of the different parts of speech have their analytic functional analogs – stable collocations with semantic and grammatical characteristics of the substantive, the adjective, the verb and the adverb. This article includes the list of the synlexical structural types and analysis of use of the so-called “inner containers” – the adjectives as structural elements of the verbative synlexes. There are the obligatory and facultative “inner containers”. They make the meaning of the synlex more concrete or expressive and evaluative. The collocations with the “inner containers” and the fragments of texts with synlexes are used as illustrations of functions of this adjective “inset”.

Keywords: verbative synlex, nominative unit, “inner container”, obligatory or facultative element of synlex

Nikitina L.B. THE NEGATIVE ASSESSMENT IN JOURNALISM: THE BASIC TOOLS FOR CREATING INDIRECTION // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 7 (172). P. 113-118

There are considered the main means of indirect expression of human negative assessment in journalistic texts: representatives, maxims, interrogative constructions. Statements- representatives describe a state of affairs, the assessment of which is displayed through its correlation with the existing in society notions of good and bad. Statements- maxims reflect typical for national-cultural community stereotypes about the world and the man and perform the role of indirectly expressed authoritative assessment in a journalistic text. Interrogatives tatements concealing the assertion encourage the recipient to look for an answer to the question and to conclude an evaluative meaning. Indirection of evaluative intension expression provides noncategorical tonality of statements.

Petrova S.V., Slyadneva G.V. POLITICAL SITUAITION IN THE REGION OF SOUTHERN CAUCASUS IN THE CONTEXT OF GEOPOLITICAL AND CIVILIZATION PROCESSES // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 2 (155). P. 72-77

The article deals with the questions of modern geopolitics of Southern Caucasus and the process of origin of the new unrecognized states: Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Nagorny Karabah. It determines the role of Russia in the course of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and rendering assistance to Abkhazia and South Ossetia in their acknowledgement as the independent states. A change in the political situation in the South Caucasus region is largely due to the geopolitical processes that often are civilized nature and depend on trends, which were formed during the Soviet era and created a latent conflict situation, which had been transferred to the open phase in modern history. The Russian Federation serves as the main ”peacemaker“ in the region, initiating the negotiation process in cases where it is possible and helping to gain the support of States seeking to gain sovereignty and genuine statehood, using his constitutional right to self-prescribe in international law.

Snegirev T.V. ON MASSIVE SPIN 3/2 INTERACTIONS IN FRAME-LIKE FORMALISM // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 12 (153). P. 228-231

In this paper we consider massive spin 3/2 field and study its gravitational interaction. We use frame-like formulation for higher spin fields (s ≥ 3/2) in terms of gauge invariant field strengths. It is shown that as for massless higher spin field the gravitational interaction for massive spin 3/2 field can be constructed as strength deformation procedure.

Gubaydullina A.N. POETRY OF DMITRIY SIROTIN FOR CHILDREN: THINKING WITH ANALOGIES // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 11 (176). P. 148-152

Poems by Dmitriy Sirotin often have the plot and character. The author is trying to convey identity of child’s consciousness. This poetry opens a familiar but always mysterious world. Sirotin invites the reader to look at the role-play situation from different points of view. If an adult person understands life, the child feels reality intuitively, and he is able to transfigure it mythologically. This poet resorts to method of analogy in different levels of text. Search of words that coincide in sound and form stimulates wordplay. Analogy gives an opportunity to compare the two things of reality. In addition, the author finds existential similarity in these things, it helps to overcome the difference between the Me and the Other.

Shchukov D.A. “Arzamas Code” and V. A. Zhukovsky’s Creative Models in “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarelled with Ivan Nikiforovich” by N. V. Gogol // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 1 (225). P. 132-142

In the collection of stories “Mirgorod” N. V. Gogol discusses what is behind the folk idyll. He shows the absurdity of any deviation from his harmonic model (the mixing of superstition and dogmas of Christianity in the “Viy”, the landlords’ quarrel over a stupid question in the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”). The illogicality of the last story is particularly frightening. It signals the disintegration of the culture of good neighborhood, friendship and patriarchy. In the first third of the XIX century, when Gogol wrote “Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka”, friendly societies appeared en masse in Russia and the genre of “epistle to a friend” was actively developing, so the motive of the quarrel, already represented in the nomination of the work, could cause negative associations. The genre of the “epistle to a friend” was actively developed by the participants of the literary society “Arzamas”, which could well become the subject of Gogol’s reflection. The business card of “Arzamas” was “galimat’ya” (nonsense), friendly gatherings. Absurd speeches of friends acquired a written form. The poet V. A. Zhukovsky almost always recorded the comic texts of “Arzamas” meetings. In this regard, we consider it legitimate to refer to this facet of Zhukovsky’s talent in the further analysis of Gogol’s “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”, in which absurdism and caricatures are everywhere revealed. The purpose of the article is to identify the “Arzamas code” and analyze the creative models of Zhukovsky’s works in Gogol’s text. This analysis is being conducted for the first time and will expand the range of interpretations of the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”. The choice of Zhukovsky’s works models is justified by the fact that the poet was the permanent secretary of “Arzamas”; in addition, the poet continues to a certain extent the sentimental line in Russian literature, which correlates with the subjectivity of epistles to a friend chosen for analysis. The material of the article is the work of N. V. Gogol “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”, “Arzamas” protocols of V. A. Zhukovsky, as well as such his works as the dramatic poem “The Maid of Orleans”; the poem “Theon and Aeschines”; articles from the journal “Herald of Europe”; ballads “Lenore”, “Lyudmila”, “Svetlana”; epistle to a friend “To Batyushkov”, etc.; fable, “The Quarrel of the bald”, etc. Comparative and biographical research methods are used in the work. The final story of the tetralogy is characterized by absurdity, not harmony. There is a mixture of contexts in the story: the bright, idyllic side by side with destructive denial, the base and sinful penetrates into the consciousness of Gogol’s characters. In addition, the narrator puts an equal sign between a person and a thing. The man in the final story of “Mirgorod” gradually turns into a predator and pest. The main characters destroy the natural harmony by quarreling, which contradicts the principles of Zhukovsky’s creativity. The poet often sings friendship, love and harmony in his lyrics, but in Gogol’s story we see a crisis of these values. In Gogol’s story there are not enough components of friendly messages like those that Zhukovsky wrote. The idyllic model of Zhukovsky, which was still visible in the “Old-World Landowners”, completely disappears in the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”. Firstly, patriarchy is leveled. A carefree stay in the bosom of nature is no longer enough for a person. Secondly, the reader in the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich” does not see families and couples (Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich are single and have no children). Idyll in “Mirgorod” is now impossible, and harmonious relations between the characters are also impossible. The heroes do not seek to learn new things, do not want to give up harmful passions. No one can reason with those who have quarreled. Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich turn into litigators, and litigation for former friends becomes a cult, an obsession. They do not hear the voice of conscience, nor the advice of others. The development and resurrection of the characters is postponed forever. The famous “Arzamas galimat’ya” plays the role of a facilitator in the quarrel of the heroes. Gogol’s narrator deliberately uses it to demonstrate the uniqueness of the phenomenon of friendship. There is a substitution of concepts everywhere in the work. Friendship turns into anti-friendship, idyll turns into anti-idyll, and the base replaces eternal values. The absurdity of Gogol’s story resembles “Arzamas” carnival. The narrator is characterized by high pathos when describing lowly objects. Thus, in “The Tale of how Ivan Ivanovich quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich” we see a decisive rejection of Gogol’s youthful aspirations to comprehend and reproduce Zhukovsky’s high idyllic and elegiac models. It is clear from the writer’s text that friendship is now a rare spiritual phenomenon. This destroys the model of epistle to a friend and creates a kind of antagonism, uncharacteristic of Zhukovsky’s creative thinking. Gogol’s exaltation and imitation of the poet in “Mirgorod” are weakening. Zhukovsky believes that all changes in the world are for the better, but Gogol’s opinion on this is somewhat different. He often shows a distorted, deformed world. By the end of “Mirgorod” there is no place for the aesthetic, because Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich are disgusting in their pettiness. Gogol shows the result of man’s falling away from patriarchal traditions and Christian values, which leads to a violation of the universe logic (this was seen earlier in the death of the main characters in the novels “Old World Landowners”, “Taras Bulba”, “Viy”).

Nabati S.S., Mehdikhanli S.G. To the question of expressive and evaluative constructions that reflect different intentions and emotions in Russian colloquial speech and their expressions in Persian // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 3 (233). P. 28-36

This work analyzes expressive and evaluative constructions that objectify various intentions and emotions in Russian colloquial speech. People have different means and ways of expressing emotions. These differences are observed not only among representatives of different peoples, but also among representatives of the same nation. Expressive and evaluative constructions are considered as important features of Russian communicative culture. The relevance of this work lies in the need to study the ways of expressing emotion, evaluation and expressiveness of Russian colloquial speech in an Iranian audience, since, without knowing the verbal forms of emotional interaction in society, learning the Russian language can be said to be unthinkable. Emotions are an integral part of the human personality and determine the national and cultural identity and uniqueness of this personality. Russian language is studied simultaneously with the study of the emotional layer of the Russian language and the assimilation by Iranian students of the information concerning the peculiarities of the linguistic consciousness and culture of the Russian people. Iranian students who study Russian outside the language environment, learn a new linguistic culture, comprehend emotional language and, one might say, an emotional picture of the world in the learning process. The relevance of the work is also determined by the goals and objectives of teaching Russian as a foreign language in an Iranian audience and correct language knowledges in a non-linguistic environment. The purpose of this article is to identify expressive and evaluative constructions denoting different intentions and emotions in Russian speech and their expression in Persian. Contextual analysis was carried out on the basis of authentic contexts obtained from the information and reference system “National Corpus of the Russian Language”. The analysis showed that the expressive constructions of colloquial speech can express various intentions and emotions in the Russian language: astonishment, agreement, objection, assumption, refusal, regret, admiration, indignation, joy, chagrin, but due to national identity, in the Persian language these intentions and emotions have their own ways and means of expression. The theoretical and practical significance of the work lies in the fact that the results of the article can be used by students studying at the departments of Russian as a foreign language in Iranian universities as additional material in the relevant academic subjects, in university practice at different levels of teaching Russian and Persian languages, as well as by translators.

Erokhina E.L., Samolina A.V. Teaching text activity in Russian language lessons: the possibilities of using texts with augmented reality // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 1 (231). P. 97-105

The article substantiates the possibility and expediency of using texts of a new nature for the development of students’ communicative competence. The inclusion of these texts in the didactic arsenal of a verbal teacher is due, on the one hand, to the tasks of forming meta-subject learning outcomes in a comprehensive school (we focused on the results related to the skills of information processing of texts), and on the other hand, to the peculiarities of the modern communicative space in which texts of a new nature occupy a significant place, making up the actual text the repertoire of schoolchildren. The material of the article contains the result of a theoretical study – a comparative analysis of scientific data on the varieties of texts presented in linguistic, speech, and cultural literature. It allowed us to build a hierarchy of texts: a linear text, a nonlinear (monocode, dicode, polycode) text, a creolized text, a media text, a hypertext, a cybertext, an intertext, an augmented reality text. In addition, the article reveals the course and results of an experiment aimed at determining the level of formation of the skills of 7th grade students to carry out information processing of texts, depending on the ways of its encoding. The results of the experiment showed that the students who worked with augmented reality texts coped best with the task (comparison was carried out with the results of the task by students who worked with linear text and dicode text). The conducted research gave grounds to assert that texts with augmented reality have great potential for teaching schoolchildren to write secondary texts-reasoning based on information processing of the primary text. This is due to several factors. Firstly, the perception and understanding of any texts is nonlinear, not instantaneous, but passes through several layers of decoding. Secondly, the digital generation deals daily with nonlinear structures in various spheres of life, which indicates the psychological and physiological readiness of modern schoolchildren to perceive nonlinear information. It is concluded that modern texts (texts of a new nature) have great potential for the formation of textual skills of students.

Starodubtsev V.A., Igna O.N., Belskaya E.J. UNIVERSITY CURATORS AND UNIVERSITY TUTORS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 5 (223). P. 148-156

Introduction. One of the goals of youth policy in the Russian Federation is the formation of a system of moral and semantic guidelines that can allow us to resist the ideology of extremism, nationalism, manifestations of xenophobia, discrimination and other negative social phenomena. Under the FSES university graduates are required to be able to navigate the socio-political environment, to have their own worldview, ideals and humanistic values, to have the ability to self-develop. Therefore, the active phase of youth education should be continued today beyond school education – in higher education. This requires the reanimation of the educational potential of universities. The main task of educating students at the university falls on the shoulders of curators of academic groups and tutors. The aim of the article is to compare the educational roles of curators and tutors in higher education. Material and methods. The material of the study was dissertations and articles in pedagogical periodicals devoted to the study of the activities of curators and tutors of universities, as well as the results of the practical organization of the work of a team of curators in a technical university. The study used the method of contextual analysis of publications and the setting of a pedagogical experiment to identify the effectiveness of the educational work of curators of student groups. Results and discussion. This article compares the educational roles of curators and tutors in higher education. It is noted that unlike tutors, the professionogram of curators of academic groups is not legally defined, their official duties are regulated by local acts established by universities independently. Comparing the functional responsibilities of tutors and curators shows the commonality of their educational roles, both categories are mentors of young people, implementing informal transfer of knowledge and social experience, providing assistance in personal and professional development. It is determined that the curator of the academic group is an employee of the educational organization from the teaching staff, who provides tutor support and academic guidance to the student group, organizes the educational and extracurricular activities of students with the aim of adaptation, harmonious development, personal and professional development of each student. It is concluded that the full implementation of the activities of academic groups’ curators requires the creation of an appropriate system of organizational and methodological support for this activity, including psychological and pedagogical training of academic groups’ curators. Conclusion. It is concluded that for the full implementation of the activities of curators of academic groups at a technical university, it is necessary to create an appropriate system of organizational and methodological support for this activity, including the psychological and pedagogical training of curators.

The article deals with the adaptation of ski tourists to the extreme conditions of their activities. We give a systematic description of the extremal factors in the ski tourism and identify the four components of extreme factors: impact of environment, sportsman techniques, physiological and psychological factors. The results of involved physiological and psychological studies are obtained using four test methods: Genchi’s test, measuring heart rate, short-term memory test and the test of time metering. The tests results coincide with the intencity of loads on the route, which includes, basically changes in altitude. The individual characteristics of participants and leader’s reactions in the process of adaptation to extreme conditions of the route are defined. We generalize the four tests getting the overall dynamics of the process of adaptation of sportsmen in the highlands. By this data we range the sportsmen into the groups of “strong” and “weak” in the group. The leader received higher scores compared to the participants. Thus, the use of this complex method of assessment of ski tourists in a group allows us to observe and assess the dynamics of adaptation to extreme conditions.

The article presents statistical analysis of the results of testing of students involved in the pedagogical experiment conducted by the department of “Higher Mathematics” in Samara State University of Railways. Built interval variation series calculated the most important numerical characteristics of random variable – the sample mean, sample variance and the sample standard deviation allowed to build a histogram of relative frequencies. By type of the line of empiric density was put forward the statistic hypothesis of normal distribution of the random variable. To test this hypothesis is used the Pearson criterion consisting in comparing empirical and theoretical frequencies, which confirms the hypothesis. Selection of the normal distribution curve leads to the conclusion that about 30 % of students will require more self-educational activity in order to achieve a satisfactory result, as well as to build a scale of success of training.

The study of the peculiarities of the traditional culture of the Old Believers is especially important in today’s era of globalization. The musical art of the Old Believers, in particular, their theoretical ideas, is currently not fully researched, and at the same time, they are an important cultural-forming factor of their time and a historical monument. Analysis of the printed musical-theoretical manuals of the beginning of the last century, belonging to different types of musical-theoretical manuals, allows us to see the clear direction of their authors to raise the level of art of chanting by means of a clearly arranged systematic training of Old Believer musical-pedagogical personnel. The emergence of new teaching aids and the development of teaching methods, along with the creation of educational institutions, have significantly increased the level of musical knowledge in the Old Believer environment. Thus, the Old Believers in the beginning of the 20th century made the first steps in the preparation of musical and pedagogical personnel. Unfortunately, this important undertaking did not receive its continuation because of the outbreak of world war, and later of the revolutionary events. The mass publication of musical-theoretical guides and coverage of musical education in periodical literature became a characteristic feature of the cultural life of the Old Believer society at the beginning of the 20th century. The article is based on the results of the author’s dissertation research for the degree of candidate of art history (2005).

Vagin N.N. DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ VISUAL THOUGHT IN THE PROCESS OF PORTRAIT PAINTING TEACHING // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 12 (177). P. 122-125

Visual thought of a student is, in the most effective way, developed by portraiture studying. It is formed by the impressions about the model and the author’s imagination. Visual memory helps to master the impressions and is involved in converting them into the artistic image. It is essential that a student has a clear notion not only about the image, that is being created, but also about the way of the portraiture process itself. The main idea of a life class in art consists in student’s applying his acquired skills in the work with his original piece. The phenomenon that underlies in the painting from memory is a sensible and meaningful perception of the life itself. As in any image, composition is the main thing in portrait painting. Tackling an imaginative concept on the whole boils down to the completion of a portrait.

Grichin S.V. EXTRALINGUISTIC BASIS OF EVIDENTIALITY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 11 (176). P. 21-26

The paper deals with the issue of extra-linguistic factors that determine the properties of language units in scientific discourse in general and the category of evidentiality (in Russian, authorization) in particular. Based on the concept of extralinguistic bases of the scientific style developed within the framework of the functional stylistics, it includes a set of primary and secondary style-forming factors. The author focuses on those of them that determine the functioning of the category of evidentiality in scientific discourse. The main distinctive feature of the cognitive-discursive aspect of considering the extralinguistic bases of scientific discourse is the fact that it allows seeing evidentiality not only as a personal psychological reflection of a subject, but also as marking objective cognitive processes taking place in the scientific text and discourse.

Ketov S.V. MINIMAL MODELS OF INFLATION IN SUPERGRAVITY AND SUPERSTRINGS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 12 (153). P. 127-130

A novel framework is proposed for embedding the natural inflation into the type IIA superstrings compactified on a Calabi￾Yau three-fold. Inflaton is identified with axion of the universal hypermultiplet (UH). The other UH scalars (including dilaton) are stabilized by the CY fluxes whose impact can be described by gauging of the abelian isometry associated with the axion. The stabilizing scalar potential is controlled by the integrable three-dimensional Toda equation. The inflationary scalar potential of the UH axion is dynamically generated at a lower scale in the natural inflation via the non-perturbative quantum field effects such as gaugino condensation. The natural inflation has two scales that allow any values of the CMB observables (ns, r).

Verkhoturova T.L. ONTOLOGICAL AND MODUS CATEGORIES CORRELATION: ABSENCE AND NEGATION // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 9 (206). P. 39-46

Introduction. Categories, traditionally studied in philosophy, got into the sphere of linguistic interests with the development of cognitive investigations in linguistics, motivated by the fact that cognitive process of category formation is completed with the acquisition by the category of its name. Among various types of categories relevant for cognitive studies ontological and modus categories are found, some of them are formed and function due to crosscorrelation. Aim. The article is devoted to the analysis of the ontological category of absence (and its concept) and to the inquiry into functional interdependence of absence and the modus category of negation on the material of the Russian and English languages. Material and methods. Conceptual and semantic derivation in the field of scientific terminology caused the philosophical notion “ontological” to develop a new meaning in the context of the notion “category”. The scientific terminological word combination “ontological category” has rather a strong position in the linguistic methodology. The attribute “ontological” specifies the type of categories that are singled out from the universal continuum of human being (language world view). Absence refers to the sphere of ontological categories of a more general, abstract group (process, state, quality, object, etc.). The corresponding concept “otsutstviye/absence” is a universal and abstract knowledge structure of basic human experience. Although the vocabulary definitions of the concept names otsutstviye and absence are extremely generalized, the contexts in which the words can be used, highlight the dominant features of the concept, pointing to the related fundamental concepts, negation as a modus category being among them. Modus concepts exist jointly with their attributive conceptual fields. “Emptiness” of the concept of negation accounts for its being built in the concept of absence, their joint representation of unified, integrated knowledge. Conclusion. The investigation helps to clarify the specificity of ontological and modus categories interaction. It can be used to develop theoretical courses on cognitive studies in linguistics, lexicology, conceptology.

Belonogova T.Y. Culture shock and the problem of linguocultural adaptation of students in a foreign-language environmen // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 2 (232). P. 101-109

Globalization processes in the economy, the strengthening of political and cultural ties between states, the spread of the Internet and distance learning technologies, which marked the 21st century, contributed to the rapid growth of international academic mobility. In this regard, the issue of overcoming cultural shock and the problem of linguocultural adaptation of foreign students in a foreign language environment becomes especially relevant. To identify the difficulties that affect the process of linguocultural adaptation in the Russian-speaking educational environment, we conducted an online survey of foreign students studying at Tyumen State University (Tyumen). According to the results of the survey, the majority of foreign students has never heard of the theory of culture shock, but all the respondents we interviewed have experienced it to a greater or lesser extent. Among the main problems, the respondents mentioned the language barrier, problems of socialization, new climate conditions, unfamiliar food, etc. In such case overcoming the language barrier directly influences the effectiveness of the educational process. The peculiarities of the grammatical system of the Russian language, the auditory perception of Russian speech, word stress rules, fast speaking rate of native speakers, articulation of some sounds, semantic differences between synonyms present the most difficult issues for foreign students learning the Russian language. The research findings show that in order to adapt successfully to the foreign language environment it is necessary to know verbal and nonverbal means of communication and to use them correctly according to the situation or context, to have a positive attitude towards the interaction with native speakers, to strive to know the host culture better and avoid stereotyping, to be aware of the values and norms of the host society, to be tolerant towards the cultural identity of another ethnic group. In general, foreign students studying in Russia see the positive results of overcoming culture shock and characterise cross-cultural adaptation as invaluable experience which fostered personal growth and unleashed their full potential, gave them an excellent opportunity to acquire new knowledge and competencies.

Nebera M.V. The concept of "friendship" in educational materials on russian as a foreign language: value aspect // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 3 (233). P. 7-15

Anthropocentric approach of modern science, as well as the undoubted value potential of textbooks on the Russian as a foreign language, has led to the need to identify the features of the representation of the concept of “friendship” that exist in the textbooks on Russian as a foreign language (RFL), and to analyze them from the axiological point of view. The material for this study are textbooks on Russian as a foreign language by Russian authors published in the period from 2007–2019, with a total volume of more than 2 500 pages, selected in accordance with certain requirements. From the received corpus of educational materials, there were selected dialogues and narrative texts related to the topic “friendship” with the help of a continuous sampling method. The application of an axiological approach to the analysis of the obtained data allowed to identify the cultural features of the representation of the concept of “friendship” that help foreign students to form a certain picture of the world in a foreign student. Lexical and syntactic units were analyzed by using the methods of contextual, comparative and lexic and semantic analysis. Statistical methods of data processing were also used. The value category of “friendship” belongs to one of the most significant in all cultures of the world. Analysis of the specifics of the translation of this concept in educational materials on the Russian as a foreign language allowed to specify, how the picture of friendship, represented to a foreign student, contributes to the adequate formation of the picture of the Russian world in his mind. It is revealed that the topic of friendship in textbooks appears from the elementary level and can also be found in texts about love, work, and leisure. A friend in RFL textbooks is mostly “used” for joint leisure or joint activity (80 % of all cases). The qualitative and quantitative analysis made it possible to specify the evaluative load of adjectives and to identify such valuable component of friendly relations as the long-term friendship. Adjectives that are used to describe a nationality of a friend/girlfriend are also frequently used. It is noted that the duration of friendship mainly appears in friendly relations between males. The frequency analysis of evaluative adjectives also allowed to conclude that RFL textbooks are focused mainly on such important qualities of a friend as kindness and closeness, which generally corresponds to the frequency of word usage in the National Corpus of the Russian Language. The analysis of examples selected from textbooks on Russian as a foreign language also revealed preferences in the translation of the models of friendship from the point of view of the gender distribution of participants. It was revealed that the largest number of examples do not allow to determine the gender of communicants or demonstrate friendly ties in the company of friends of a mixed type. The model of friendly relations between two males takes the second place, which is twice the number of similar examples describing friendship between two females. Friendship between a man and a woman is represented in an absolute minority and often subconsciously represents not a friendly, but a love affair. The model of friendly relations between males, as well as friendship between the actors of opposite sex, is characterized in textbooks on RFL by mutual support, whereas in examples describing friendship between females or between a man and a woman, assistance to a friend mainly appears. In the examples from RFL textbooks describing friendship, along with the positive evaluation components, the negative ones also exist, but their number is much smaller. In general, a positive image of friendship is broadcasted. The analysis showed that, in general, the values related to friendship are correctly represented in textbooks on the Russian as a foreign language, although not always fully. Gender differentiation in certain aspects of friendship is observed. If taking into account the obtained results, it may further allow foreign students to discover what values exist in the world of friendship among Russian people, which will also contribute to a deeper understanding of the peculiarities of Russian culture as a whole.
