| 3762 | Introduction. Meta-language narratives are the most indicative material to study how the dialect speakers perceive their own speech and the speech of others, as well as peculiarities of their linguistic reflection. The study of this phenomenon revealed the set of peculiarities of dialect speakers’ language consciousness. But dynamic aspects of dialect speakers’ language consciousness haven’t been examined until present. The purpose of the article is to reveal the types (degrees) of meta-language reflection and to determine the factors of its heterogeneity in the speech of dialect speakers. Material and methods. The material for analysis includes contexts with meta-language topics; the subject of the research is the character of meta-language topic development in the speech of a dialect speaker, as well as his ability for metalanguage reflection; the main research method is probabilistic object modeling. Results and discussion. Records of dialect speech represent different degrees of awareness of dialect speakers of their speech – from almost complete inability to concentrate their attention on a word itself, in distraction from objects and situations denoted by this word, to the active meta-language reflection. The attention of dialect speakers is usually drawn to the language and speech in those communicative situations, when the communicants belong to different social groups and have visibly different language and/or culture codes. But there are also transitional, intermediate degrees of speech awareness. These are the cases of effortful, gradual transition from the situational reflection to the linguistic one, the cases of switching from meta-language topic to the reflection on the corresponding facts or things, as well as the cases of meta-language reflection in situations, untypical for literary language speakers. Conclusion. Unwritten traditional culture is characterized by the weak speech awareness, by the interfusion of the word itself and situations it represents. These features are consequences of such general distinguishing characteristics of traditional folk life culture bearers as the priority of trivial consciousness in contrast with rational (theoretical) consciousness, which is formed by specially organized cognitive activity. The strengthening of meta-language reflection is associated with the growth of literacy among the dialect speakers. Familiarization with written culture leads to greater speech awareness, to shifting the balance between trivial and rational consciousness. The scale of the degrees of speech awareness in dialect speech is the result and the evidence of changes in dialect communication. The specificity of socio-cultural situations in the dialects supports and promotes the tendency to the expansion of meta-language reflection. | 3778 | Introduction. The paper is devoted to the oligarchy’s description as an axiologically marked phenomenon from the language point of view. The necessity to take into account the perception of oligarchy in other cultures, the analysis of the national peculiarities of the oligarchy representation in the language, the need for the comparative research make the study of the mentioned phenomenon up-to-date. Material and methods. Mass-media texts retrieved from the sub-corpus of the British national corpus (NOW corpus) serve as the material for the analysis. NOW corpus contains newspaper and magazine articles dated 2010-2018. Results and discussion. Collocation analysis of the term oligarchy in the British national corpus is carried out according to the following criteria: types, characteristic features, co-occurrence with other concepts, metaphoric conceptualization of the phenomenon under study. As the result of the analysis it is shown that oligarchy’s representation in the British mass-media discourse is determined by social and discursive peculiarities of a definite linguo-culture. Alongside with the universal features (the connection of oligarchy with a definite sphere of human activity) the English language possesses special terms for denoting this destructive phenomenon in this or that country. In examining the relation between oligarchy and other negative phenomena the latter is viewed not as different from the rest of the destructive things but as synonymous to them (corruption and oligarchy, despotism and oligarchy, imperialism and oligarchy). The metaphoric representation of oligarchy is not constituted by a wide range of features. The theoretical relevance of the research consists in the development of the mass-media discourse and axiological linguistics’ theory through the analysis of the ordinary definition of the term on the basis of newspapers and magazines. The applicability of the study consists in the possibility of using the results of the analysis while studying other axiologically marked phenomena in different cultures and through the prism of different time segments. Conclusion. The paper outlines possible prospects for research, including consideration of the interpretation of the phenomenon of oligarchy on the material of English discourse in the diachronic aspect, which will complement the results and identify those aspects of the presentation of the analyzed phenomenon that are not present in the representation of the oligarchy phenomenon in modern English. | 3787 | Introduction. The article is devoted to the problem of organizing the methodological activities of a school teacher and university teacher. Methodological activity is the most important component of a teacher’s professional activity, therefore it is important to understand in what ways it can be organized. This aspect is important not only for teachers of private methods, but also for any teacher of higher education, as he is a methodologist - the organizer of the assimilation of educational material by students. When preparing undergraduates as potential teachers, it is important to teach them different ways of organizing methodological activities. Materials and methods. The article was written on the basis of the author’s generalization of the teaching experience for undergraduates “Methods of Teaching Communicative Disciplines”, as well as many years of experience in teaching a course in teaching Russian to future elementary school teachers. Master students not only got acquainted with these methods at lectures, but also actively discussed them in tutorial mode. A comparative analysis of reproductive, constructive, research methods of organizing activities is used. Results and discussion. The characteristic of different ways of organizing methodological activities is given: reproductive, constructive, research. Тhe following comparison criteria were used: positions of participants in joint educational activities, subject of methodological activities, methodological tools, features of working with educational information, organization of the educational environment, result. Conclusion. As a basic principle of organizing methodological activities, co-organization and mutual complementarity of different methods are proposed. The methods are correlated with different models of the organization of joint activities of the teacher and students. | 3788 | Introduction. This study is a series of consecutive problems in the practice of educational reading in modern university pedagogical training. Educational reading is defined as a complex, sophisticated multi-order phenomenon. The study highlights the textual dimension of reading (aspects inherent in speech educational practices, without including management plans through the training assignment and pedagogical communication by reading practices). The empirical focus of the research includes the experience of interaction of undergraduate students of the Belarusian Maxim Tank State Pedagogical University (BSPU) with a fragment of the text by the Polish pedagogue Janusz Korczak. Aim and objectives. The research organization solves two interrelated tasks – diagnostic and project ones. The first is designed to identify the established trends in the educational work of students with a text. The second is to specify the circle and type of priority tasks that ensure the propaedeutics of educational transformations. An important goal of the study is to discover the specifics of the work of the retransmitting educational model in the practice of educational reading. The objective of this study is to find effective tools to limit the range of retransmitting reading regulators. Material and methods. The study used the method of discourse analysis of students’ written statements. The empirical basis was formed by the acts of reading and interpretive interaction of BSPU students with the pedagogical works by J. Korczak. The typical reading strategies used by students in teaching, as well as marginal textual tactics, creating the possibility of diversification of reading practices in the process of their studies are highlighted and described. As a condition for this kind of transformation, a specific (poetic) design of J. Korczak’s pedagogical statement is considered, which enables him to act as a “screen” of objectification of the students’ pedagogical experience. Results and discussion. It was identified that the dominant trends that have shown themselves in the students’ statements are textual (semantic) reconstruction and semiotic correlation. The following are the most frequently used text reconstruction tools by students: thematically oriented reading, qualification of the text as messages about real events, and text authorization. In marginal ways of reading, one can diagnose, on a preliminary basis, the issues of initiating, in the process of reading J. Korczak’s text, the primary signs of students’ linguistic (discursive) consciousness. It has been shown that in “relations with oneself” working with a text by J. Korczak brings to life three types of discursive effects: self-identification, self-observation, and self-motivation. One of the important results of the research is the discovery of the specifics of the retransmitting educational model, which traditionally acts as an asymmetric shift in the reader’s attention from the form (AS) to the content (WHAT) of the message. The following plans for limiting this model have been identified: theoretical-methodological, epistemological, and methodological. Conclusion. The study shows that pedagogical work in the situation of an educational reading crisis should be withdrawn from the reflexive-theoretical state and placed into an experimental-developmental environment. This means the need for didactic reconstruction of reading practices in professional pedagogical training, one of the options for which can be rhetorical re-reading of pedagogical classics. An example of the implementation of such didactic work in the meaning of the constructive condition for the formation of the professional position of the future teacher is a poetic attitude to the text representing the teaching practice by J. Korczak. It puts in the focus of attention the pedagogical experience of the students themselves and creates the possibility of their objectification and discursivation. The basic condition for such an opportunity is the specifics of the participation of the future teacher’s experience in the formation and changes of pedagogical situations. Keywords: reading practices, pedagogical text, grammatical exposition of pedagogical text, rhetorical exposition of pedagogical text, didactic transformation, reading crisis in culture and education, retransmitting educational model | 1907 | |||||
| 3789 | Introduction. The choice of approach to the analysis of literary translation in this article is explained by the fact that interpretation in translation involves co-creation of the translator and the author of the original work, so that a new understanding of it can arise. Aim and objectives. The aim of the article is to identify the differences between the author’s interpretation of the comedy “The Government Inspector” and its translation interpretation by K. Garnett. It will allow us to see the semantic transformations of the work as it penetrates into the English-speaking culture. Material and methods. The material of the research is the comedy “The Government Inspector” by N. V. Gogol and its translation into English, made by the British translator K. Garnett in 1926. The methodology of this research is based on a comparative method, as well as a method for studying translation through the concept of “translation interpretation”. Results and discussion. The translator does not put the name “Silent scene” in a separate title and writes it in small italics merged with the previous text. This reduces its significance for English readers. In addition, K. Garnett in the translation of the play removes the division into scenes, which supports the classical symmetry and correctness of architectonics, while demonstrating the subordination of being to the divine plan. This suggests that in the understanding of the translator there were no initially harmonious laws of human existence. As for anthroponomy, all the names and surnames of the characters are conveyed by K. Garnett using transliteration. This means that for the English-speaking reader, their “speaking” meaning is lost. At the same time, this method of translation may also have a deeper meaning. In the original work, the characters are united by their involvement in vice, the symbolic embodiment of which they are. They are also connected by a common expectation of punishment for their actions and, undoubtedly, by belonging to the same people, since this issue was important for Gogol. It embodies the influence of the romanticism traditions on him. In comedy, the unity of the people demonstrates, in particular, the common national character of the dramatic personae. The presence and nature of the vice in each individual case is expressed, among other things, by the name of the character. But since this semantics is lost due to transliteration in translation, the connecting thread becomes less obvious to English-speaking reader. The loss of the original semantics of belonging of heroes to a common nation is facilitated by the translation of phraseological phrases, proverbs and sayings found in the original text. In the translation by K. Garnett, the idiomatic speech of the characters, indicating their folk character, was largely reduced. A similar feature is the frequent replacement of colloquial expressions of heroes with lexemes of the literary language. Therefore, the characters’ speech becomes more neutral and loses its expressiveness. Due to the prevailing number of such transformations, the characters of the dramatic personae in the translation of the comedy can hardly be called folk. Regarding the translation of Russian realities, it should be noted that K. Garnett replaced many of them with English ones. And although we cannot say that this applies to all realities, but they are the absolute majority, which cannot but affect readers reception. Among other things, K. Garnett adds a Gendarme to the list of actors, which does not correspond to Gogol’s conception. The Gendarme in the comedy acts as a “herald of the Last judgment” and his figure shows “transpersonal power”, which is why he is not on the stage of the theater. However, the appearance of the Gendarme in the list of actors in the translation text completely deprives him of the opportunity to embody the hand of God. Together with the “Silent scene” leveling this deprives comedy its significance and true meaning, which Gogol sought to express. Conclusion. The emergence of such a version of the comedy translation can be attributed to the fact that K. Garnett worked at the beginning of the modernist era, “the root characteristic of the literature of which is, in particular, the belief in the isolation, alienation and ultimate absurdity of each individual existence and the entire macrocosm of reality”. This largely contributes to the formalistic approach to poetics, which in this case is chosen by the translator. This is expressed in the fact that K. Garnett reproduces the text without taking into account the influence of the author’s biography and views. It cannot also be said that the cultural and historical context of the original and Gogol’s reception of literary traditions were sufficiently taken into account. Transformations in translation have led to the fact that characters are perceived as part of a faceless crowd, each member of which is not connected by anything, and not as people drawing inspiration from their unity. The characters are still together waiting for the Government Inspector, but the meaning of his appearance loses its sacred meaning of God’s punishment. In this interpretation, the existence of comedy characters appears absurd and even tragic to some extent, since there is no positive or negative dynamics. Thus, although the original author’s meaning was not recreated by K. Garnett in the translation of “The Government Inspector” into English, it can be stated that a new one that conveys a sense of hopelessness at the turn of the XIX−XX centuries has emerged.
