The contrastive analysis of the personage system of Scotland’s poets (who didn’t emigrate) with the personage system of the USA’s Scottish emigrational poets is made. In the poetry of Scotland’s poets such additional personages are found: Fergus I (ab. 434 – 501), Kenneth MacAlpin (810-858), Duncan I (1001-1040), Malcolm IV (1141-1165), John Knox (1513-1572), Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587), James Melville (1556-1614). Contrastive analysis of patriotic images and motives proves that emigrational literature can be treated as diasporic literature in case emigrational literature appeals to the historical and cultural traditions of the Motherland country (Scotland). | 3909 | The significance of research is attributed to the constant attention of linguists paid to the discourse of women’s prose and to the usage of the components of functional-semantic categories, including the category «comparativeness», in the language of artistic works. The article considers the participation of different structural comparisons in the description of the female characters in the novel The Kukotsky Enigma by Lyudmila Ulitskaya. The structural diversity of comparisons is presented within the functional-semantic field of comparativeness. All forms of comparatives are present in the language of the novel, with conjunctional comparisons by similarity prevailing. From comparisons on the difference, there are forms of comparative and negative parallelisms. The gender approach to describing femininely marked comparatives facilitates to identify idiostyle characteristics of the writer, namely the tendency to extend and concretize the image of comparison, the usage of comparisons for the comparison of heroines, the author’s boldness and frankness of comparative images as well as the images’ allusiveness, and axiological differences between feminine comparisons in the speech of the characters and in the author’s speech. The article pays attention to the text-forming function of comparatives in the broad sense in the language of the novel The Kukotsky Enigma by Lуudmila Ulitskaya, namely to «the correlation of the tropes and realities». | 3926 | Universal commerce that appeared in Russia in XIX century reached its fullest flower in Soviet period both in cities and countries. In 1920’s GUM (State Department Store, from Russian Gosudarstvenniy Universalniy Magazin) became a symbol of NEP. After a bright period of activities in 1920’s Tyumen branch of GUM reappeared in 1930’s in the form of state and cooperative trading organizations. By the end of 1930’s state department stores that started their activity as one of the forms of trading organizations became the best form of Soviet trading. The article describes the main periods of this evolution, draws reader’s attention to the managerial decisions in trading sphere, the analysis of the activity of the Tyumen branch of GUM and the reasons of its liquidation. Much attention is given to the difficulties of the development of the state trading in the provincial Tyumen in 1930’s, the author defines forms and methods of state universal commerce and analyses the role of advertisement in this process. The results of the research show that by the end of 1930’s state commerce already had leading position in the city in context of command and administration system establishment. This period was essential in shaping the principles of Soviet universal commerce. The question of the development of theoretical thinking of the artist has always been at the center of scientific interests, since the effectiveness of the subsequent musical, performing and pedagogical activity of the graduate depends on his decision. The specificity of the theoretical thinking of the musician-performer is considered. On the one hand, it is closely related to the content and logic inherent in music by its author. On the other hand, it deciphers the author‘s intention, in order to intone it in sounds for listeners. Consequently, the theoretical thinking of the performer from the philosophical standpoint is revealed in the dialectic of artistic time and intonation. Further, the content of conceptprocesses is revealed: artistic time, intonation. The creation of artistic time and its intonation are two interrelated and at the same time independent types of artistic activity. From this unity and struggle, the energy of self-movement and self-expression of the performer is born, an artistic interpretation of the author‘s design is created. An algorithm for the theoretical thinking of the performer is considered. This is the process of the afterlife of the formation of the musical form as a whole formation, where the form is derived from the content as a concrete from the universal. | 3928 | Introduction. The article is devoted to the completely unexplored subject in Russian Lermontov studies – the academic reception of the novel “Hero of our time” by the scholars from the USA. In the article the most reputable and representative works published in the USA about this novel are outlined and analyzed in accordance with the following periodization: publications of 1900-1960s, publications of 1970-80s and the modern publications of 1900s until now. The goal. Research of the academic reception of the novel of M. Lermontov «Hero of our time” in the USA. Materials and methods. Search and analysis of the publications, devoted to the novel “Hero of our time” by M. Lermontov issued in the USA in accordance with the periodization proposed by the author. Results and discussion. The focus of publications 1900–1960s is primarily the understanding of how M.Yu. Lermontov portrayed the Russian society of the 1830s and the main character of his work, an emphasis on the psychological nature of the novel, as well as a comparison with A.S. Pushkin. Among the researchers there is no agreement on the genre of the novel - for example, Mercereau classifies it as a genre of psychological realism, and in the preface to the first Russian-language edition in the United States, the Byronic character of Pechorin is noted. In publications from the 1970s to 1980s, there is a completely different emphasis. First of all, the internal structure of the novel is in the focus. Despite the fact that there is still no full agreement on the genre of the novel, most researchers believe that the novel «A Hero of Our Time» that he put an end to romanticism in Russian prose, which is the main innovation of Lermontov. The view on the main character of the novel has also changed - in Pechorin they see not Byronic, but demonic features. At the present stage, American researchers have new topics in the study of the novel «Hero of our time”. For example, the topic of the relationship between the Russian and Caucasian peoples attracts a lot of attention. In addition, if earlier only Pechorin was in the center of attention of researchers, now other heroes and heroines of the novel are also being studied. It is also interesting that Pechorin is now considered a post-romantic hero, and most researchers classify the novel as post-romantic. Conclusion. The conducted analysis and the proposed periodization demonstrably illustrates the evolution of approaches and interest to the various aspects of the novel and its heroes. The bibliography of the article is impressive itself and makes a significant contribution to the Lermontov studies. The authors of the publications included in the review are philologists, publicists, political scientists, anthropologists. The essence of regulativity, reflection, including its types, as well as reflectivity is considered in detail. Regulativity is a systemic textual quality that provides management of the cognitive activity of the addressee. Reflection is interpreted as a universal sign of human thought activity. Reflectivity is a person’s ability to reflection. The reflectivity is closely connected with images of the author and addressee which are realized in the textual categories of subjectivity and addressing. The author relies on the researches of linguists, literary critics, also observations of masters of the artistic word for establishing the connection between the regulativity of the poetic text and the reflectivity.
