Melekhina E.A. ESSAY ASSESSMENT TECHNOLOGY IN TEACHING WRITING FOR ACADEMIC PURPOSES TO MASTER AND GRADUATE STUDENTS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 10 (151). P. 202-206

The article discusses the problem of developing skills in writing for academic purposes in English. The feedback plays a very important role in teaching writing. The students’ attitude questionnaire results towards feedback prove that students value the teacher’s feedback and feel some uncertainty about receiving feedback from their peers. The application of the assessment technique, combining peer and teacher evaluation, to teaching master and graduate students is described. This system makes students self-edit and redraft their essays twice before giving to the teacher for grading. It is shown that this technique contributes to the development of academic writing skills of master and graduate students.

Chumachenko M.N. INTONATION AS THE WAY TO ACTUALISE THE MORAL PROBLEMS IN THE SHORT NOVEL “STROYBAT” BY SERGEY KALEDIN: FROM DOCUMENTALISM TO CONDITIONALITY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 11 (152). P. 109-114

Social and domestic background of the short novel “Stroybat” (Construction Battalion) today is archaic, but the problems of betrayal, the preservation of culture in a hostile environment, youthful irresponsibility remain up to date. The story representing retelling of events on behalf of the character, is richly intoned and intonation gives topical character to its main subjects. Sergey Kaledin builds his story at the intersection of many voice streams: through the detached comment of an “alien” character, combination of exalted and everyday speech, alien words, chronotop “cutins”, playing with the rhythm and text density. The art world of the story is actively sated with the cultural and paracultural signs which today have become part of “the Soviet myth”. In reader's perception they also don't contribute to dokumentalizm of “Stroybat”, and on the contrary, promote his perception as parables about the good and evil. The system of the speech creates a feeling of convention of terrible details of stroybat as a social phenomenon and allows the reader to focus on the inner life of the character.

Keywords: Russian short novel of the 90s, actualisation, “soviet clichй”, dismissal, absurdist conventionality

Lukina A.K., Chiganova S.D. IMAGE OF TEACHING PROFESSION AMONG THE FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS AS THE RESOURCE FOR INDIVIDUALIZATION OF EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 1 (154). P. 38-42

The article examines the results of research on the first-year students’ motives of choice of pedagogical profession and theirs ideas about the image of the ideal teacher. The choice of pedagogical profession is mainly accidental, only 8 % of those entered were not experience fluctuations with the selection of the professional education. Students’ ideas of pedagogical profession are not adequate, they do not contain representations about subjectivity of teacher in his professional activity, about his social mission and public destination, about the active, converting nature of his work. Describes some methods for self-determination of students, and building adequate ideas about the main features and competences of teachers. These are such methods as active seminars, business games, trainings, the analysis of concrete situations, practice in the schools under the management of experienced teachers. Such seminars develop reflexive abilities of students and critical attitude to their professional abilities. Shows that adequate image of the profession can serve the base of construction of individual educational programs of student.

Li N.V. STRUCTURE OF STRATEGIC SPEECH COMPETENCE IN KOREAN THROUGH TEACHING ORAL-VERBAL COMMUNICATION. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 4 (193). P. 178-182

The article deals with the notion of “strategic speech competence” in the composition of communicative competence, its structure, represented by substantial and pragmatic components. The urgency of the proposed problem is to intensify the process of teaching the Korean language at school and at a university. One of the ways to solve the problem of preparing graduates for speaking in a foreign language in the Korean language is the formation of strategic speech competence among students in the process of mastering the Korean language. The content component reflects the specifics of the Korean language, namely knowledge of cultural traditions, knowledge of social situations and social functions of communication, non-verbal features of oral-speech communication in the Korean language. The pragmatic component is represented by a complex of compensatory, perceptual and discursive skills. Particular attention is paid to the definition of a “discursive skill”, a “discursive marker”. The discursive skills include 1) the ability to accurately formulate your thoughts, 2) the ability to accurately use a variety of language tools, 3) the ability to defend your point of view, 4) the ability to introduce yourself; 5) the ability to put forth possible variants “For” and “Against”; 6) the ability to conclude, 7) the ability to end the conversation. The discursive markers include introductory sentences, prepositional constructions, introductory words, particles, functioning primarily in oral speech and orienting it on the listener. Discursive markers in Korean are distinguished. Methodical techniques aimed at forming strategic speech competence and teaching oral-speech communication in the Korean language are proposed.

Keywords: strategic competence, speech competence, strategic speech competence, the Korean language, oralspeech communication, communicative maxima, compensatory skill, perceptual ability, discursive ability, discursive marker

Semenova T.I., Ishenina A.S. EPISTEMIC MEANINGS OF IMAGINE CLASS VERBS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 9 (206). P. 9-15

Introduction. The article focuses on the ways human beings conceptualize, structure and make sense of their physical and mental experience. Mental states of perception, imagination, belief, knowledge interact tightly with one another and this ontological nature is represented in the lexical semantics of the verbs see, imagine, believe, think, know. Thus, the main concern of the study is to highlight cognitive-semantic grounds of the semantic shifts of the imagine class verbs and to reveal syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic properties of the utterances arranged by these verbs. Material and methods. The research is based on the empirical data from available sources and corpora data. The research is conducted within the cognitive linguistics framework where a common view is that meaning has a cognitive nature. Results and discussion. The paper explores how lexical meanings get extended in a particular cognitive context. The findings of the study suggest that the verbs under consideration function as IMAGINERY VISION verbs and as epistemic verbs in the cognitive context BELIEF. The results obtained suggest that meanings of the imagine class verbs (supposition/evaluative judgment/wrong opinion) imply that related word “senses” may be part of a continuum of meanings rather than discrete entity. The research highlights polyphony as an important double-voiced dimension of the utterances with the imagine class verbs in the cognitive context BELIEF. Conclusion. The findings of the study prove that the meanings of the imagine class verbs occupy overlapping areas of semantic space. The results obtained may contribute to further studies of the word meaning theory.

Keywords: mental state, proposition, propositional attitude, imagination, semantic derivation, evaluative judgment, supposition

Rakhlevskaya L.K. Modem anthropological ideas for courses of a series «Study of human nature». Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2000. Issue 7 (23). P. 3-6

In this article you will find the information about the matter of anthropological ideas in professional pedagogical education. Three aspects are under study: anthropological consciousness; anthropological technology and spiritual relationship in the system of teachers' training. Anthropological consciousness is based upon integral conceptual study of human nature. It arises either through the system of anthropology or through the process of modeling a human as integral formation. Integral study of human nature permits to understand the integral culture through studying the courses of a series «Study of Human Nature». This system is worked out by the author of this article and is defended in the author's thesis for a Doctor's degree «Theory and Practice of Courses of a Series» Study of Human Nature» in Pedagogical Education structure» (Yaroslavl - Tomsk, 1999).

The article of Seiiwanoff F.A. with the title «Atasphere» examines two opposite characteristics of the culture. The first of them is the quality of intellect and perfection of the human activity in the culture; the second one is the stupidity, evil and imperfection. The author shows that the second quality of the human nature builds the Atasphere and plays the same role as noosphere but it has the opposite meaning and significance.

Azuma T., Morita T., Takeuchi S. NEW STATES OF GAUGE THEORIES ON A CIRCLE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2012. Issue 13 (128). P. 13-18

We study a one-dimensional large-N U(N) gauge theory on a circle as a toy model of higher dimensional Yang-Mills theories. We nd a new class of saddle point solutions in this theory. These solutions are characterized by the expectation values of the Polyakov loop operators, which wind the circle different times. We nd two evidences that these solutions appear as intermediate states in certain dynamical processes. One is from a numerical calculation and another is from the dual gravity. The similar solutions exist in a wide class of SU(N) and U(N) gauge theories on S1 including QCD and pure Yang-Mills theories in various dimensions if N >= 3.

Alkova L.A. THE EXPERIMENT ON THE FORMATION OF SELF-COMPETENCE OF STUDENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY: STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF THE DATA. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 7 (160). P. 63-68

The article presents the results of a study on the formation of self-competence of university students through interactive computer technologies. We developed criteria, indicators and tools to determine self-educational competence formation of university students through interactive computer technology. Diagnosis of high school students conducted by electronic tests and questionnaires are available on the websites and moodle.gasu.ru and ank. gasu.ru. To prove the existence of statistically significant differences in the level of development of self-competence in the control and experimental groups was used Fisher’s test. After statistical analysis of experimental data it can be concluded that students of control and experimental groups have significant differences caused not only by random factors but a certain legitimate reason. The reason was the experimental work performance to implement structural and functional models for self-educational competence formation of university students through interactive computer technology.

Olechno-Wasiluk J. FROM THE EXPERIENCE OF INTRODUCTION TO THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE OF POLISH PRESCHOOL. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 3 (168). P. 93-95

The present article shows a lesson plan of an extra-curricular lesson for kindergarten children which was distinguished in the category „Teaching materials” in the International Competition for Teachers of Russian as a Foreign Language organised by Tomsk State Pedagogical University and the Polish-Russian Institute in Wroclaw (Poland). The main theme of the lesson is based on the topic: “Understanding Masha. Speaking humorously, nicely and interestingly about the Russian language and culture.” The lesson is to be organised as a non-obligatory workshop. The lesson plan contains objectives and tasks characteristic of a workshop, of which the most important ones consist in popularising the Russian language and culture, encouraging children to adopt an open attitude towards cultural otherness as well as making them understand and show tolerance towards another culture. The lesson plan enumerates and describes teaching and learning methods to be used during classes. Special attention is paid to the selection process of rhymes and songs for children to learn. It is proposed to choose texts which contain words similar to those in the native tongue. Repeating such words is fun for children and it gives them a sense of achievement. The lesson plan determines also the psychological and pedagogical aspects of the workshop. During the classes children do not only learn Russian words and find out about their geographical neighbour’s culture, but they also learn: working in groups (depending on the age colouring matrioshkas, making greeting cards with a picture of matrioshka, doing a puzzle with a picture of balalaika or samowar), learning behavioural patterns and values through play. This kind of extra-curricular classes constitutes a really absorbing way of popularizing the Russian language among children, but it also provides good practice for students (future teachers) who take part in preparing the event and can engage in organising a really interesting undertaking.

Emelyanova J.B. READINESS AND ABILITY TO SWITCH LINGUACULTURAL CODES AS AN INTEGRATED CHARACTERISTIC OF TRANSLATOR’S LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 7 (204). P. 148-157

The article considers the way linguistic and cultural knowledge is used in translation and justifies the need to view a translator as a professional native and foreign language user. Similarly, it is important to recognize the specific character of translator’s language knowledge because, firstly, it is a tool in a professional cross-cultural mediation in translation; secondly, it provides the basis for the acquisition, development and functioning of translation skills. An attempt is made to identify the characteristics of translator’s linguacultural knowledge relevant to the process of code-switching, which should be viewed as the switching of linguacultural codes in order to reflect the interlingual and cross-cultural aspects of translation. Based on the analysis of the mental processes and mechanisms of linguacultural switching the following characteristics of translator’s lingualcultural knowledge have been proposed. Chunk-based language knowledge is represented by communicative chunks and communicative contours and is able to improve access, activation and retrieval of linguistic knowledge, error control, the functioning of radiant thinking and spreading activation. Frame-based knowledge of a foreign language creates the framework for probabilistic forecasting, facilitates direct access to conceptual representations in a foreign language, raises its activation level and reduces its dependence on the native language, as well as improving integration of linguistic and conceptual information into semantic memory. Systemic language knowledge means knowing a language as a system of dependencies and connections and ensures distinctness, flexibility and mobility of language knowledge. Language awareness involves the ability to pay attention to language forms, reflect on language, patterns and specific character of its functioning. Such awareness develops the skill of separating two languages and cultures, improves language and error control and prevents linguistic interference. Functional parallelism reflects the type of relationship between two language systems and is made up of systemic, communicative and operational aspects. The last characteristic involves the awareness of the linguistic factors causing breakdowns in code-switching in translation, as well as the ability to predict and deal with such problems. Collectively, the above-mentioned characteristics form the readiness and ability of a translator to code-switch. The development of these characteristics should be made part of professionally oriented foreign language teaching to trainee translators.

Recent explanation [1] of high-velocity features in type Ia supernovae (SNIa) requires signicant mass of circumstellar material (CSM) in SNIa progenitor system. If correct, it provides means of determining the mass of CSM along the line of sight. We study the distribution of mass in accretion disk, a natural candidate for the needed CSM. Accurate equation of state and Rosseland-mean opacities are used; several models for the latter are compared. We conclude that the standard model of accretion disks in SNIa progenitors does not yield the needed mass distribution to agree with observations.

Filonov N.G., Boboyev N.M. ANALYSIS OF THE STRUCTURE OF THE CUMULATIVE EXPENSES IN FORMING THE CASH FLOW OF THE COMMERCIAL BANK. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 8 (149). P. 141-146

An important instrument of the increase of bank activity efficiency is its logistization. In the article we suggest the logistic model, where a bank is considered as a micro-logistic system and bank activity is considered as a set of different flows of useful resources (a material flow (vec_M); a financial flow (vec_F); an informational flow (vec_I); an energetic flow (vec_E); a flow of transport vehicles (vec_T); a manpower flow (vec_W); a service flow (vec_U); a flow of innovations (vec_N)), which interact, influence each other, depend upon the present market conditions and evolve, corresponding to the changes of inner and outer conditions. In the article, we do the research of these flows’ structure, using the logistical approach. In the research we represent a flow as a certain function, having two components: the scalar one (P0 – a concrete kind of useful resources) and the vector one (vec_P0 (t, z) – the orientation of the flow in space and time). Thus, a flow is: vec_P = P0*vec_P0 (t, z) v r . A special attention is paid to the financial flow, its structure and process of forming. We represent, that the necessary condition of forming any kind of a flow is presence of other flows. Then, in order to provide a normal functioning of the cash flow in a bank we need the following vector components, which could assure its forming and circulation: financial, informational, energetic, manpower (personnel), innovational and service components. The mathematical expressions are worked out to describe this process and to give us the opportunity to define the source of costs and to optimize the cumulative expenses in order to minimize them.

The article describes the origin of berry terminology in Selkup. Results of full collection of selkup words belonged to the subject lexical group “berry flora”. The analysis of these linguistic units allows tracing the development process and name formation of berries in selkup language and also to single out the principle of naming units. Further data integration makes it possible to examine the semes which are the bases of naming flora lexemes according to productivity criterion. The study was carried out due to the theory of transferring linguistic world image with the help of symbols taken from collective unconsciousness and kept the meanings of world image. The method of component analysis which reconstructed the meanings of unproductive naming units was used for analyzing. This method allows explaining the meaning of berry flora words with the help of dividing lexemes into small meaningful units. Twenty three selkup berry flora words were analyzed and there were eight principles of naming units that formed such groups as berry functioning connected with its picking up and using as a food, connection of some berries with certain kinds of birds, colour characteristics of berries, mythological ideas of selkup people, curing period and berrying, taste properties of berries. Indirect way of naming berries is dominated and underlines associative thinking of selkup people.

Larina M.B. IMAGE COMPONENTS CORRELATION OF THE CONCEPT TRADITION AND ANTICONCEPT FASHION. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 8 (197). P. 14-20

The article deals with the problem of «concept» and «anticoncept» relations by the example of concepts TRADITION and FASHION in the English world picture. Concept and anticoncept are interrelated and interconnected. The relations between them and a metaconcept domain are similar to those of hyponyms and a hyperonym but not absolutely identical. Therefore, concept and anticoncept relations shouldn’t be described in terms of antonymy, because these two mental representations are not simply contrasted to each other. They have integrative and distinctive features that can be restored by different means, including association experiment. A study of association links can help in modeling the structure of the concept. The resulting verbal associations reflect the conceptual signs of the concepts TRADITION and FASHION, indicate a deep rootedness in the consciousness of the English cultural stereotypes which are a figurative representation of what is traditional and what is fashionable. The full spectrum of obtained associations allows to speak about the specifics of the conceptual connections in the consciousness of English-speakers. On the basis of the association experiment data analysis, it is proposed to treat concepts TRADITION and FASHION as concept and anticoncept correspondingly and to determine them as interrelated and interconnected oppositions included in the same metaconcept domain VALUES and forming its poles.

Aleksandrova E.V. THE GENRE NATURE OF “THREE CHAPTERS FROM THE POLITICAL AND MILITARY HISTORY OF 1853, 1854, AND 1855” BY E. P. KOVALEVSKY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 4 (216). P. 121-130

Introduction. The material of historical essays by E. P. Kovalevsky, devoted to the events of the Danube campaign, which was practically not studied before, is presented in the work. The aim of the work is to study the genre content of Kovalevsky’s essays and determine their role in the literary process of the 1850s. Material and methods. The research focuses on the work “Three chapters from the political and military history of 1853, 1854 and 1855”, written by a direct participant of the events and at the same time a representative of official circles. Published in “Otechestvennye Zapiski” in 1856, it is considered in comparison with the work “The War with Turkey and the severance with the Western powers in 1853 and 1854” which was published for political reasons only in 1866. The research uses comparative and cultural-historical methods. Results and discussion. The research shows that Kovalevsky’s essays are the first artistic interpretation of the Danube campaign events against the background of official circles’ silence on the political reasons for the beginning of the Crimean war. The originality of the author’s creative manner is shown in the synthesis of a documentary narrative with elements of essay and story. The problems of essays (the problem of the hero, patriotism) and their poetics (the description of nature, the role of the narrator) expand the horizons of the author’s creative search and give an impetus to understanding and presenting new material (form and content) to contemporaries. Conclusion. Typological features of the historical essay and its artistic features in the work of Kovalevsky are revealed. The study of the essay genre on the example of Kovalevsky’s “war stories” makes it possible to build a line of creative continuity in Russian literature (Tolstoy and Dostoevsky). This work will be useful for scientists of historical and philological profile: from the point of view of genesis, the synthetic nature of the essay genre and the literary and factual context of the events of the Crimean campaign.

Kozlova I.E., Grebenkina I.N. FIGURATIVE EXPRESSIONS DENOMINATING “BREAD” IN THE FRENCH AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES (LINGUOCULTUROLOGICAL AND DISCURSIVE ASPECTS). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 6 (183). P. 107-111

The paper analyses figurative expressions with the denomination “bread” in the French and Russian languages. Figurative expressions of a language serve as an important source for getting information about national world perception because they reflect the spiritual and material culture in the language. The choice for figurative expressions with the components representing food is explained by the fact that food is one of the most vivid elements of national culture which is connected with the native speakers’ understanding of their national specificity. Although the French and Russian cuisines have distinctive features, four products are archetypically significant for both cultures: bread, butter, milk and honey. Their denominations in both languages are very widely represented in figurative expressions. The image of bread is the most significant one in the French and Russian cultures; figurative expressions with this component in both languages are based on the archetype of bread as the symbol of life, well-being and wealth. We believe that for assessing the potential of a figurative expression of a language it is necessary to combine the linguoculturological analysis with the analysis of discursive realization of a studied linguistic unit in different types of discourse. Thus the French figural expression “avoir du pain sur la planche” was analyzed both linguoculturologically and discursively in three meanings. The results have shown that this expression is widely used in different types of modern discourse only in one of its meanings. The results prove that discursive realization is the key element for studying figurative expressions and it should become the key component for complex investigation of the figurative layer of a language.
