Balakina A.A. ON THE PROBLEM OF THE FUNCTIONAL-GRAMMATICAL SPECIFICITY OF GERMAN VERBS WITH MODAL SEMANTICS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 10 (151). P. 7-15

The research describes the role of premodal lexical semantics in grammaticalisation and in forming of the functional-semantic specificity of verbs with modal meaning, their cognitive and historical-cultural determination. German modal verbs are sollen, mьssen, wollen, mцgen, kцnnen, dьrfen. These verbs are preterite-present, which means that their present tense has the form of the strong preterite. Modal verbs are the prototypical linguistic means of modality expression, at the same time there are many other verbs with modal semantics in the periphery of the modal field, which have similar functional-semantic features. The so-called modalized verbs can also express possibility, necessity, desirability, habitual actions and various estimates. In contrast to modal verbs, German modalized verbs are used with particle zu (except the verb lassen). It is very interesting to look at the involvement of verbs with modal semantics in grammaticalisation. There are many studies in the field of grammaticalisation (Lehmann, 1982; Heine, 1984; Bybee, 1994; V. A. Plungian, 1997; Maisak, 2005, and others). These works focussed on many important problems of grammaticalisation, and specifically on the possible lexical sources of grammatical items. In the study we regard grammaticalisation as a semantic process (Heine, 1984). We intend to determine the influence of pre-grammatical semantics on the functional-grammatical forming of the verbs with modal meaning. So on the one hand we define grammaticalisation as the process, in which a lexical word or a word cluster loses some or all of its lexical meaning and starts to fulfil a more grammatical function, on the other hand we try to determine the pre-grammatical specificity of form and content. The historical changes in the premodal semantics of the verbs with modal meaning (lassen, brauchen, haben/seinzu, wissen, pflegen) cause their modern functional-grammatical specificity. These verbs express one type of modality and demonstrate the functional monosemanticity.

Peresada O.V. FEATURES OF THE ORGANIZATION OF SEMANTICS OF THE DERIVED DIALECT VERBS (TO THE QUESTION OF EXPRESSIVITY). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2016. Issue 2 (167). P. 112-117

This article is an excerpt of the analysis of the derived dialect semantics of verbs with the aim of studying the pragmatic aspects of linguistic meaning. Defines how estimating vocabulary relates to the expressive one and subjective modality relates to expressiveness. It was found that expressive word always implies the meaning of the emotional component. Assessment is contained in the derived verbs formed from estimating nouns, may occur in the process of word formation based on metaphor. Emotional assessment may be caused not only by figurativeness but also by intensity. Investigation of deep semantics of the derived words, including subjective components within the meaning of the concept makes it possible to understand the world of media negotiations of Baikal and Irkutsk region.

Keywords: expressiveness; pragmatics; semantics; derivative of the word; evaluative vocabulary; subjective modality; emotional assessment

Korshunova O.V. The image of a modern teacher and student in the minds of first-year students – prospective educators: the results of an empirical study. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2025. Issue 2 (238). P. 25-35

The changing environment of schools and education systems call for changes in the type of teachers and their personal and professional characteristics. The generation of students is changing its parameters too. How does the teacher of today appear to their students? How do schoolchildren see each other? We tried to get answers to these questions by using the projective method «Pishu-Risuyu» for the first-year undergraduates majoring in education at Vyatka State University. This article aims to share the results of this projective method with the pedagogical community to create an image of a modern school teacher and student. The scientific novelty of the article lies in molding the “image” of a school teacher on the basis of empirical data “from students”, taking into account their individual and personal characteristics, in particular, the modality of information output. The study revealed that the “image” of a modern teacher is composed of the following characteristics: a creative, intelligent, patient, responsible person who complies with the norms of pedagogical ethics (tactful), who understands their students; b) the “image” of a modern student consists of the following parameters: inquisitive, active, creative and imaginative, proficient in IT technologies, attentive, but dependent on gadgets, cunning, and therefore lazy, but self-developing, diligent, hardworking, responsible, communicative and independent in behavior representative of the “Z” generation. Research methods: the projective method «Pishu/Risuyu» («I Write and Draw») is the main tool for collecting empirical database; ranking, methods of qualitative data processing, construction of graphic objects, analysis, synthesis, modeling (images of teacher and student), and interpretative method are all part of the process. The theoretical significance of the article lies in the confirmation / denial of some characteristic features of a modern teacher and secondary school student, identifying the transformation of ideas about the main and priority characteristics of a teacher and student, which can serve as some factual basis for confirming / clarifying generational theory. The practical significance of the article is determined by the creation of the “images” of the teacher and student, which can be taken as some guidelines for the development of personal qualities of these subjects. The obtained data can be utilized in the development of teaching strategies at universities and in the implementation of additional vocational education programs for certified teachers.

Kachalova O.I., Kachalov N.A. THE ORGANIZATION OF THE INDEPENDENT WORK ON A WORKSHOP FOR STUDENTS OF A TECHNICAL COLLEGE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2014. Issue 8 (149). P. 25-28

The article reviews the practical work organization in the general chemistry field based on the three levels of student’s autonomy in the five practical course thematic areas. Methodically we stated the use of individual and group educational forms, practical work in pairs or in small groups and defining for each student his\her plot of study, for which he\she is personally liable. Attention is paid to teacher guidance during the practical course and when the need arises, teacher gives the appropriate assistance to students, while not reducing their autonomy level. There were identified various student’s skill levels: Initial – reproducing (reproductive), which characterizes the student’s ability to reproduce already running in one way or another work earlier; average level of autonomy manifestation – a dependent (non-productive), which characterizes the student’s ability in the narrow knowledge transfer implementation, actions by analogy implementation; top – an independent, creative (productive) level when students can perform complex tasks. There is attributed a relevant subject experimental work of the practical course to each of its levels. A teacher is proposed to use the developed practical course kit in various educational situations. The attention is focused on the preliminary student’s preparations in order to carry out experimental and practical works. It is advisable to summarize the student’s research results of the practical course in the discussion form at seminars, final conferences. There were outlined the features of the practical course thematic areas: theoretical studies – theoretical positions experimental verification, their application in practice; preparative papers – for example, training features; analytical work – research skills synthesis and development; works in chemical engineering subjects – for example, to present to the students chemical plants characteristic features; in ecological-valeological studies – to obtain reliable information about the environment. There is stated the application of different approaches to the process charts compilation, depending on the activity specific to practical course different thematic areas. Also there is made a case for carrying out an experiment on the basis of the research methods of the qualitative analysis (for example, the substances «quality» definition, the detection of separate elements included in the tested compounds). This will provide an opportunity to show the value of substances information in various professional fields.

Approves the typological community of Solovyov’s epistemology with holistic teachings in the history of thought. Based on the theoretical work materials the author reveals the polysemy and multidimensionality of the concept of “whole knowledge”, the author proves the thesis that Solovyov´s teaching of whole knowledge plays the holistic ideacomplex. Тhе article compares the Solovyov´s doctrine of whole knowledge and the conception of the hermeneutical circle of German thinkers. Тhe thesis according to which Solovyov’s doctrine is closest in spirit to Heidegger’s interpretation of understanding is proved. Though following the original almost to the letter, the novel is conceptually different, nor does it justify its presumably ethnographic title, being didactic in its core. Like the original, it centres around three marginal narrators. This article aims at defining their role within the new pragmatics of the text. The article examines the novel Sketches of Russian Life in the Caucasus, by a Russe, Many Years Resident among the Various Mountain Tribes, as well as A Hero of Our Time by Mikhail Lermontov, which it is based on. The methods used include the comparative, culture-historical, and hermeneutic ones. Following the wandering officer of the original, the nameless narrator of the novel’s first part remains the former, yet ceases to be the latter. As a result, not only does he retain his marginal status as a traveller, but also moves further away from the narrating officers. His outsider’s view of the characters, particularly Zadonskoi (Pechorin), thus, at first glance appears to be the most objective; in fact, however, it is subject to the European cultural context. Sorokin (Maxim Maximytch) largely retains the original features. However, his rejecting the local population is more evident, so is his religious vigour. Though he, the nameless narrator, and Zadonskoi are in some ways akin, the focus lies on their differences, mainly in age and worldview. As a result, Sorokin’s image is less marginal, with his role as a moral compass for both the protagonist and the reader emphasised. Finally, Zadonskoi himself remains a multi-marginal figure, yet unlike Pechorin has the potential for social integration. Though both Sorokin and the nameless narrator see him as strange and eccentric, in his own papers he unwittingly discovers a human in himself. The marginal status of the narrators, particularly the main character, obscures their national background allowing the focus of the narrative to shift towards universal problems, which are of paramount importance in the novel.

Merkuryeva N.Y. LEXICAL AND GRAMMATICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TAG-QUESTIONS (FROM THE TEXTS OF THE EARLY PERIOD OF THE AGE OF ENLIGHTENMENT). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 7 (204). P. 88-95

Introduction. We are continuing the cycle of works on historical development of some constructions of spoken English interaction. The article deals with the early history of tag-questions focusing on the beginning of the Age of Enlightenment. Aim and objectives. Some constructions with tag-questions from the texts of the certain historical period were investigated to find their lexical, phonetic and grammatical (structural, punctual) particularities and to compare them with the same constructions of Renaissance period. Material and methods. Exemplifying sentences are taken from the works written by English authors from 1688 to 1730. Drama and novel texts are used as a source. The methods of theoretical analysis of linguistic concepts, total selection of the material, linguistic research of language facts, comparative analysis are applied. Results and discussion. Three groups and ten types of the structures are distinguished. The base of groups differentiating is the existence of lexical and grammatical connection between the anchor (the main clause) and the tag. The base of the types differentiating is the content of the tags. So-called canonical tag-questions like He is a student, isn’t he? and other structures (containing predicative tags like He is a student, you say? and non-predicative tags like He is a student, eh?) are under analysis. Tag-questions from the texts of two epochs – Renaissance and Enlightenment are compared. The discussion consists of authorial choice of lexical means, the arrangement of words in the tags, the place of tags in the anchors, the peculiarities of graphical representation of the constructions in the texts. Conclusion. Some changes in word order in the tags and in the tags positions in the anchors have been found. The results can be used to conduct further researches as well as to provide lectures in Language History, Theoretical Grammar, etc.

Nabati S.S., Mehdikhanli S.G. To the question of expressive and evaluative constructions that reflect different intentions and emotions in Russian colloquial speech and their expressions in Persian. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 3 (233). P. 28-36

This work analyzes expressive and evaluative constructions that objectify various intentions and emotions in Russian colloquial speech. People have different means and ways of expressing emotions. These differences are observed not only among representatives of different peoples, but also among representatives of the same nation. Expressive and evaluative constructions are considered as important features of Russian communicative culture. The relevance of this work lies in the need to study the ways of expressing emotion, evaluation and expressiveness of Russian colloquial speech in an Iranian audience, since, without knowing the verbal forms of emotional interaction in society, learning the Russian language can be said to be unthinkable. Emotions are an integral part of the human personality and determine the national and cultural identity and uniqueness of this personality. Russian language is studied simultaneously with the study of the emotional layer of the Russian language and the assimilation by Iranian students of the information concerning the peculiarities of the linguistic consciousness and culture of the Russian people. Iranian students who study Russian outside the language environment, learn a new linguistic culture, comprehend emotional language and, one might say, an emotional picture of the world in the learning process. The relevance of the work is also determined by the goals and objectives of teaching Russian as a foreign language in an Iranian audience and correct language knowledges in a non-linguistic environment. The purpose of this article is to identify expressive and evaluative constructions denoting different intentions and emotions in Russian speech and their expression in Persian. Contextual analysis was carried out on the basis of authentic contexts obtained from the information and reference system “National Corpus of the Russian Language”. The analysis showed that the expressive constructions of colloquial speech can express various intentions and emotions in the Russian language: astonishment, agreement, objection, assumption, refusal, regret, admiration, indignation, joy, chagrin, but due to national identity, in the Persian language these intentions and emotions have their own ways and means of expression. The theoretical and practical significance of the work lies in the fact that the results of the article can be used by students studying at the departments of Russian as a foreign language in Iranian universities as additional material in the relevant academic subjects, in university practice at different levels of teaching Russian and Persian languages, as well as by translators.

Filonov N.G., Deremeshko V.A., Imonov O.D. EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION AS A LOGISTIC SYSTEM. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 5 (158). P. 17-22

The article deals with the analysis of the processes in the educational institution from the logistic point of view. We show, that almost any educational institution conforms to the requirements and can function as a logistic system. Naturally, the problem of optimization of all processes in the educational institution occurs. An important instrument of the problem’s solution is logistization of educational activity. The basis of educational activity is a high potential of increasing its efficiency by means of implementation of scientific methods of regulating the various flows, which occur not only in the educational institution structure, but also in interacting of the educational institution and its external environment (labor market). Logistization of educational activity is a process of consequential implementation of devices, methods and techniques of logistic science. At the same time, educational activity logistization can be considered as a complex technological and management innovation and its implementation into real practice of educational istitutions should be considered as a necessary factor. We analyze the principles, paradigms and requirements, related to forming the educational institution as a logistic system: integration of departments into a united logistic system, orderliness and clarity (transparency) of logistic systems and so on. We reveal the difficulties of forming this system. They are caused by the specificity of “production” of the educational logistic system. That is why the approaches, traditionally applied to the sphere of material production, may be not effective in this case.

Shchukov D.A. “Arzamas Code” and V. A. Zhukovsky’s Creative Models in “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarelled with Ivan Nikiforovich” by N. V. Gogol. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 1 (225). P. 132-142

In the collection of stories “Mirgorod” N. V. Gogol discusses what is behind the folk idyll. He shows the absurdity of any deviation from his harmonic model (the mixing of superstition and dogmas of Christianity in the “Viy”, the landlords’ quarrel over a stupid question in the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”). The illogicality of the last story is particularly frightening. It signals the disintegration of the culture of good neighborhood, friendship and patriarchy. In the first third of the XIX century, when Gogol wrote “Evenings on a Farm Near Dikanka”, friendly societies appeared en masse in Russia and the genre of “epistle to a friend” was actively developing, so the motive of the quarrel, already represented in the nomination of the work, could cause negative associations. The genre of the “epistle to a friend” was actively developed by the participants of the literary society “Arzamas”, which could well become the subject of Gogol’s reflection. The business card of “Arzamas” was “galimat’ya” (nonsense), friendly gatherings. Absurd speeches of friends acquired a written form. The poet V. A. Zhukovsky almost always recorded the comic texts of “Arzamas” meetings. In this regard, we consider it legitimate to refer to this facet of Zhukovsky’s talent in the further analysis of Gogol’s “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”, in which absurdism and caricatures are everywhere revealed. The purpose of the article is to identify the “Arzamas code” and analyze the creative models of Zhukovsky’s works in Gogol’s text. This analysis is being conducted for the first time and will expand the range of interpretations of the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”. The choice of Zhukovsky’s works models is justified by the fact that the poet was the permanent secretary of “Arzamas”; in addition, the poet continues to a certain extent the sentimental line in Russian literature, which correlates with the subjectivity of epistles to a friend chosen for analysis. The material of the article is the work of N. V. Gogol “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”, “Arzamas” protocols of V. A. Zhukovsky, as well as such his works as the dramatic poem “The Maid of Orleans”; the poem “Theon and Aeschines”; articles from the journal “Herald of Europe”; ballads “Lenore”, “Lyudmila”, “Svetlana”; epistle to a friend “To Batyushkov”, etc.; fable, “The Quarrel of the bald”, etc. Comparative and biographical research methods are used in the work. The final story of the tetralogy is characterized by absurdity, not harmony. There is a mixture of contexts in the story: the bright, idyllic side by side with destructive denial, the base and sinful penetrates into the consciousness of Gogol’s characters. In addition, the narrator puts an equal sign between a person and a thing. The man in the final story of “Mirgorod” gradually turns into a predator and pest. The main characters destroy the natural harmony by quarreling, which contradicts the principles of Zhukovsky’s creativity. The poet often sings friendship, love and harmony in his lyrics, but in Gogol’s story we see a crisis of these values. In Gogol’s story there are not enough components of friendly messages like those that Zhukovsky wrote. The idyllic model of Zhukovsky, which was still visible in the “Old-World Landowners”, completely disappears in the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich”. Firstly, patriarchy is leveled. A carefree stay in the bosom of nature is no longer enough for a person. Secondly, the reader in the “The Tale of How Ivan Ivanovich Quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich” does not see families and couples (Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich are single and have no children). Idyll in “Mirgorod” is now impossible, and harmonious relations between the characters are also impossible. The heroes do not seek to learn new things, do not want to give up harmful passions. No one can reason with those who have quarreled. Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich turn into litigators, and litigation for former friends becomes a cult, an obsession. They do not hear the voice of conscience, nor the advice of others. The development and resurrection of the characters is postponed forever. The famous “Arzamas galimat’ya” plays the role of a facilitator in the quarrel of the heroes. Gogol’s narrator deliberately uses it to demonstrate the uniqueness of the phenomenon of friendship. There is a substitution of concepts everywhere in the work. Friendship turns into anti-friendship, idyll turns into anti-idyll, and the base replaces eternal values. The absurdity of Gogol’s story resembles “Arzamas” carnival. The narrator is characterized by high pathos when describing lowly objects. Thus, in “The Tale of how Ivan Ivanovich quarreled with Ivan Nikiforovich” we see a decisive rejection of Gogol’s youthful aspirations to comprehend and reproduce Zhukovsky’s high idyllic and elegiac models. It is clear from the writer’s text that friendship is now a rare spiritual phenomenon. This destroys the model of epistle to a friend and creates a kind of antagonism, uncharacteristic of Zhukovsky’s creative thinking. Gogol’s exaltation and imitation of the poet in “Mirgorod” are weakening. Zhukovsky believes that all changes in the world are for the better, but Gogol’s opinion on this is somewhat different. He often shows a distorted, deformed world. By the end of “Mirgorod” there is no place for the aesthetic, because Ivan Ivanovich and Ivan Nikiforovich are disgusting in their pettiness. Gogol shows the result of man’s falling away from patriarchal traditions and Christian values, which leads to a violation of the universe logic (this was seen earlier in the death of the main characters in the novels “Old World Landowners”, “Taras Bulba”, “Viy”).

The article examines some peculiarities of grandmother-grandchild discursive interaction in family communication. Applying methodology of interactional and conversational analysis to the video data recordings of communicative interactions between different generations of two Russian families we argue that such interaction is governed by two contradictory intentions: to maintain the empathically warm communication and at the same time to protect the initial roles of dominant communicant (for grandmothers) or to fight for the status of independent communicant (for grandchildren). They both show some specific discursive devices: grandmothers’ use of joke aggression, memorative (telling about past events), assistance in the case of communicative failure; communicative sabotage for grandchildren.

Krivolutslaia M.A. PERCEPTIVITY AS A SEMANTIC SIGN OF THE EMOTIONAL STATE SITUATION (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE COLLECTIONS BY L. PETRUSHEVSKAYA “TWO KINGDOMS”, “STORIES ABOUT LOVE”, “BLACK BUTTERFLY”). Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2022. Issue 3 (221). P. 107-114

Introduction. One of the main semantic features of a state situation is perceptivity, which can appear in the text as an independent event proposition, and as a property of an emotional state. The presence of a sign of perceptivity in research of fiction makes it possible to distinguish between the types of subjects of perception, the key of which is the narrator (observer). Aim and objectives. The main purpose is to determine the connection between the perceptual attribute and the key differential-semantic attributes of the state and the influence on the semantics of the statement as a whole. The tasks of the research include the analysis of images of sensory perception. Material and methods. The material for the study was the stories of L. Petrushevskaya from the collections “Two Kingdoms”, “Stories about love”, “Black Butterfly”. More than 800 statements with the semantics of the emotional state are highlighted. The work uses the method of scientific description, including the collection of material, observation and systematization, semantic analysis of the statement and linguistic analysis of the text. Results and discussion. Based on the analysis, it was found that the perceptual sign is characteristic of most statements with the semantics of the emotional state. The main subject of perception in a literary text is the narrator (observer). The position of the observer makes it possible to interpret the emotional state both in terms of external signs (external perception) and internal (internal perception). Conclusion. The perceptual feature affects other semantic features, including the statement that represents the situation of the emotional state. The representation of perception within the framework of an emotional state emphasizes the specificity of L. Petrushevskaya’s work.
