Special emphasis in laid on the practical application of each criterion. It is shown that none of them can be used alone for making precise differentiation between compounds and phrases. Each of them should be supported by approximately two other criteria. Therefore, the author gives examples of the most effective ways of using the methods described in the article.

Babakina T.N., Zhukova N.S. PECULIARITIES OF TRANSFORMATION OF MODAL SEMANTICS OF THE VERB MÜSSEN IN GERMAN. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 6 (183). P. 56-60

The research of means verbalizing the modal semantics, and in particular of modal verbs remains urgent in modern linguistics as they express modal values of the possibility and need which are ones of the most important in the cognitive and communicative relation. In its turn, cognitive and communicative needs of society remain variable and that causes semantic function extension of the language means, which are constantly to respond to the needs of society noted above. In this regard the semantics studying of the verb müssen is especially significant. The purpose of the research presented in this article is to reveal specifics and to define the mechanisms of the past and current semantic changes of the verb müssen that have ensured its development as a modal verb according to cognitive and communicative needs of the German society. To that effect the original Old, Middle, Early New and New High German texts were studied. In the selected examples from the given texts by means of the method of semantic interpretation and using the method of contextual analysis the meanings of preterite-present verb müssen functioning as modal verb in the correspondent periods of the development of German language were determined. Due to the consistent usage of the method of comparison and collation in the process of analysis of the meanings their similarities and differences were determined. For more detailed reflection on the transformation development tendency in the semantics of the verb müssen appearing in modal function the methods of mathematical statistics were also used. As a result of the conducted research semantic peculiarities of the verb müssen functioning in various periods of German were specified and the mechanism of the past and current changes is defined. The basic semantic transformation mechanism of the verb müssen into both modal objective and, from Early New High German, into modal subjective semantic is context-induced reinterpretation.

Safonova E.A. TOPOS OF ITALY IN NICHOLAY OTSUP’S POEMS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 11 (188). P. 218-225

N. Otsup, Russian poet of the first wave of emigration lived abroad for 34 years. He lived in France, but his heart belonged to Italy. His first poem, dedicated to Italy, appeared in the book “In the smoke” (1926). N. Otsup was hoping to see a country of great culture, but found the country of philistines. Gradually his negative impressions were replaced by descriptions of the aesthetic space of Italy, largely due to meeting with his future wife. In N. Otsup’s lyrics Italian motifs are closely intertwined with motives of love and faith, as the wife has brought him to God. The poem “Meeting” (1928) was dedicated to the enlightenment of the lyrical hero. Italy is a prideful country, where the life passes slowly, and therefore the enlightenment comes not very soon. Italy took important place in the last N. Otsup’s poem “Diary in verse”. The poet dedicate it to his wife, which he compares with Dante Beatrice. Otsup describes the usual life of Italians, the idyll of rural Italy and also wrote with sadness about fascism. The poet joined Italian Resistance and fought for the country as for his second homeland. During the WWII he experienced a spiritual crisis, but he overcame adversity and found his Paradise in the Holy land of Italy. Analysis of the image of Italy shows the hero’s journey from despair to the attainment of love and faith.

Moskalenko O.A. “BLESSED INNOCENCE”: A SMALL MAN CHARACTER IN THE MODERN BRITISH LITERATURE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 3 (209). P. 86-95

Introduction. In the modern novel “The Senility of Vladimir P” a typical image of a “small man” is created and the myth of Russia as a multi-layered system of stereotypes recognizable by the Western recipient is constructed. The purpose of the study is to characterize the stereotypical image of the Russian “small man” in the modern British novel and to determine its functions in the meta-myth of Russia. Material and methods. The methodology of comparative studies, in particular, imagology is used as its the interdisciplinary nature allows one to study the image of the “Other” in the social, cultural and literary consciousness of another country at intertextual, contextual and textual levels upon the concept of stereotypes (according to J. Leerssen). “The Senility of Vladimir P” by M. Honig is a material for research. Results and discussion. Under a scandalous headline, the author offers us a story about life in Russia through the prism of the theme of “small man”. The main character, Nikolay Sheremetyev, is not inclined to reflection until the situation of loss appears and his beloved nephew is arrested. From this moment on, the narrative is gaining momentum, the main character is changing: reality acquires more and more grotesque features, and reader witnesses painful transformation of Sheremetyev, the “small man”, the last honest person in Russia, who makes a deal with his conscience and begins to act within the framework of English-Saxon tradition. The image of the “Other” is presented by Honig precisely from the perspective of the Anglo-Saxon tradition in which all the other characters are actually written out: Russians only by entourage and consistent with the Western stereotype, but infected with Western individualism. The characters of the novel are classified by type depending on the model of behavior and prototype. Conclusion. M. Honig builds a grotesque, absurd image of Russia in the middle of the XXI century. Ethnotype characters act in conditional situations without author pretending to psychologize the image and reveal characters, because they must create the most complete, comprehensive picture of Russian reality, reflect Russian national features as they fit into the British myth of Russia that is familiar to the British. Honig constructs the ethnotype of Russian citizens of the mid-XXIst century from 1) the image of a small man (Nikolai Sheremetyev), traditional for Russian literature; 2) the media image of Russian elite formed mainly by Western media and Russian liberal media; 3) an exaggerated and schematic image of a typical Russian, featured in Western cinema of the late twentieth century. Before us there is a conflict not only of different attitudes, but the opposition of the Russian and English (more broadly Anglo- Saxon) worlds at the cultural and civilizational level. Honig’s novel is an example of secondary actualization, when a fiction text constructed under the influence of the media begins to be perceived as a non-fiction model, becoming a kind of simulacrum of reality.

Meremkulova T.I. THE TYPOLOGY OF BORROWED GALLICISMS IN THE CONTEMPORARY LITERARY GERMAN LANGUAGE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 11 (188). P. 90-95

The article provides a typology of borrowed Gallic words within the contemporary literary German language based on a grid of criteria allowing a most holistic description of the symptomatic phenomena inside the borrowed Gallic stratum: 1) on the lexical-semantic criterion, 2) on the assimilation specificity, 3) on the way of borrowing, 4) on the method of derivation and 5) composition. For the first time such typological phenomena as re-borrowing, reverse borrowing and formal-structural accommodation, as well as former pseudo-Francization, are interpreted. Typology refers to the structural-systematic features of the studied lexical stratum. The selection of types of borrowed Gallicisms in the modern German literary language involves a number of theoretical and methodological difficulties. This is due to the volatility of the proposed taxonomic criteria, on the one hand, and difficulties in determining the status of borrowing, in particular, in the matter of delimiting it from the concept of a “foreign language”, on the other. The typology of Gallic borrowings functioning within the German literary idiom is of great importance for synchronous codification practices and general lexicography. Appeal to the issues of assimilation (adaptation) of this vocabulary segment of the German literary idiom is inevitable due to the multidimensionality and multilevel processes of integrating the Gallic heritage into the system of the German literary language. The historical unevenness of assimilation determines the existence of only synchronous taxonomic set that testifiesto the dynamism of the studied processes in the canvas of the historical development of the German literary language.

In this article we study traditional costume of the native peoples in Siberia on the basis of the analysis of some empirical element in the human mentality typical of traditional culture. The production of costumes is conditioned by the climate and some natural peculiarities of the area; it is also characterized by a rational approach to the choice of materials. In the process of our investigation we found out some similarity in the constructions of costumes. The costume represents an adaptive way of transformation of some existing forms of costume. This transformation is possible due to some natural cultural conditions as a result of cultural diffusion and the development of new cultural forms. The rational element s in the costume construction performs some practical functions and is conditioned by some naturals in the life of the ethnos.

Children’s creative potential realized most fully if the educational process is carried beyond the scope of traditional training. Content and presentation of teaching material promotes the formation of students’ positive motivation forearning. Positive students’ motivation is created by the variety in the objective educational process through the use of different types of games from business role-plays to simulation. The article presents the results of introduction and adaptation of interactive associative board games into educational process when studying ecological disciplines on the example of the Federal State Educational Institutions of Higher Education “Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University”. With the help of associations it is possible not only to remember the information with the first attempt, but also to keep it in the long-term memory. The proposed variant of the game is built on the basis of the most successful ideas of the famous computer and board games with the addition of some new, original teaching materials. Application of this approach to training significantly stimulated assimilation of a training material, especially the glossary on the set subject. The proven effectiveness of the use of associateive games expressed in the increase of educational motivation of students and consequently in the quality of education. It is revealed through the diagnosis of learning motivation of 125 students of Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University that the communicative motives took the first place 66.9%, the second place 62.7 % - educational and informative ones. New possibilities of the method of sigma deviations allowing to study individual features of a person’s physical development are presented. Any person can easily get 23 anthropometric indicators, compare them with the arithmetic mean and the mean square deviation of this indicator, obtained for the corresponding age-and-sex group, and obtain an individual set of sigma deviations of all these indicators. Combining the obtained indices into certain groups, one can analyze the presence of different proportions in the human body (proportionality of bone length, bone thickness, proportion between upper and lower body parts, proportion of development of the thorax, for women - the proportion of development of the breast, the ratio of length of legs and height, the harmony of the development of muscles, the uniformity of fat deposition in the subcutaneous fatty tissue). At the next stage of the study, analyzing the individual set of sigma deviations, an individual comparison standard is selected for each person, with which all 23 indicators are compared. All indicators that differ from this standard by more than one are recognized as deviations from the individual standard. The observed deviations are conditionally subdivided into «advantages» and «shortcomings» of the physique. Knowing the magnitude of the conventional shortcomings (in cm and kg), it is possible to propose an individual program for correcting these deviations with the help of modern methods of metered exercise in order to create a harmonious physique

Varlaro F. THE CONCEPT OF PHYTOMETAPHOR IN THE ANALYSIS OF THE RUSSIAN-ITALIAN TRANSLATION THE KOLYMA TALES BY V. SHALAMOV. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 7 (204). P. 72-78

Introduction. During the last years of the last century the conceptual sphere “the world of plants” got the attention of linguists. In many of their works, linguists analyse phytometaphor in comparison between two languages. The purpose of this article is to describe the semantic-pragmatical use of phytometaphor in Shalamov’s work The Kolyma Tales and the possibility if its translation in the Italian language. Material and methods. By examining the Italian word “piantone” (orderly) this article focuses on the particular case in which there is not a phytometaphor in the original text but it is present in the translated text. The study proceeds with the analysis of the main characteristics of the figurative sense of this word in both languages and the translators’ motivation in the use of it. Results and discussion. One important feature of Shalamov’s prose is the use of anthropomorphic details in the description of nature. After analyzing the first cycle of stories, we can divide the author’s used phytometaphors into four categories: 1) plant products used as a kind of currency; 2) the external characteristics of a person; 3) likening plants to animals; 4) the internal characteristics of a person. It is important to underline, that in other cases phytometaphor is not used in the original text but it is used in the translated text. After the linguistic analysis of the material (Russian, Italian and French dictionaries and corpora) it is possible to say that the word “piantone” with the meaning of soldier is not an Italian national and specific word but is a calc from French. Conclusion. According to the detailed analysis of the dictionaries and considering the peculiarities of V. Shalamov’s artistic style, the author concludes that the use of this phytometaphor is in line with the general trend of the use of metaphorical vocabulary by V. Shalamov in The Kolyma Tales.

Introduction. Nowadays the sphere of construction engineering is one of the fast-developing fields. Owing to the advanced construction technology development new words appear in the Russian language. The purpose of the article is to discover and describe the latest professional borrowings related to the field of innovative construction technologies and introduced into Russian in the 21st century. The objectives of the paper are the material selection, the definition of the sources and time of borrowings being analyzed, and creating the classification of foreign terminological units. Material and methods. The material for the study is the latest borrowings in the sphere of construction engineering appeared in the Russian language in the 21st century and used in the professional discourse (web-sites for construction professionals). The basis of the methodology lies in the descriptive and comparative methods. Results and discussion. The article contains a short theoretical overview of borrowings in Russian. The study shows that most of the terminological units denoting advanced construction technologies are borrowed from other languages with the technology itself. The major part of the given terminological units is borrowed from English and represents loanwords, calques and partial calques. Moreover, with the purpose of stating the time of borrowings all terminological units were searched for in the National Corpus of the Russian Language. It appeared that the majority of terms are not recorded either in the National Corpus of the Russian Language or in terminological dictionaries. Conclusion. Modern construction vocabulary of the 21st century is represented mostly by anglicisms among which there are lexical and semantic borrowings (calques and partial calques). The article has analyzed terminological units not previously recorded in either terminological dictionaries or National Corpus of the Russian Language. The practical value enables to use the article materials for academic and lexicographical purposes.
