| 2554 | The paper is devoted to the issue of synonymy in terminology. Authors reveal the meaning of the notion “terminological synonymy”. They turn attention to the generalization of theories related to principles of synonymy in terminology. It’s known that there are different points of view on the existence of term-synonyms. In the paper such items as “synonym”, “doublet”, “variant” are analyzed by different linguists. Through the example of landscape study peculiarities of usage of synonyms in the Russian and German languages are shown to nominate different fragments of the linguistic world-image. | 2556 | The article deals with the problem of the specific character of the translator’s knowledge of language and culture. A review of the relevant literature has shown that translation is a unique mode of language use which is significantly different from ordinary communication in a foreign language. The author introduces the concept of “problem awareness” as one of the key characteristics of the translator’s lingua-cultural knowledge. Problem awareness is essential in translation which involves switching between languages. It is understood as the awareness of the linguistic factors causing breakdowns in code-switching in translation, as well as the ability to deal with such problems. These linguistic factors include idioms and proverbs/sayings, translator’s false friends, culture-specific concepts, geographical names and confusing words similar in form, meaning or use. Each linguistic factor is described and its ability to interfere with the process of code-switching is explained. Based on these facts a list of relevant skills and psychological characteristics is presented for each group of linguistic means. The author then provides guidelines for ensuring a targeted approach to the teaching of the above-mentioned linguistic means. These recommendations also include a description of the types of activities which are especially relevant in the context of teaching foreign languages to trainee translators. | 2569 | Russian society is in need of the people that quickly adapt to the changing world, are capable for continuous selfeducation and self-improvement. Therefore, the quality of subjectivity becomes the leitmotif of the educational process at the university. The fullest development of this quality can be the result of reflexive cognitive activity. The article offeres an idea of level representation of cognitive educational activity of the student: operational activity - cognitive activity – reflexive activity – individual activity. It is based on the transition of the subject from one mode of interaction with the text of the cultural reality to another. Reflection is the basis, the means and the result of cognitive activity of the student. One important feature of the construction of the educational process with regard to the level structure is a non-technological approach to it. | 2582 | The article contains a fragment of the analysis of the semantics of the derivatives of dialect verbs of speech with the aim of studying the pragmatic aspects of linguistic meaning. Classification of dialectal verbs is carried out in accordance with the classification of lexico-semantic groups of commonly used Russian verbs. Cognitive models are defined in the formation of characterizing actions associated with speech activity. Examples of propositions of verbs are given. It is established that characterizing verbs of this group can have mono- and polypropositive structures. It turned out that for the nomination of situations related to the speech activity of people, the subject of the proposition is relevant. It was determined that one of the propositions of the verbs can reflect the objective properties of the named action, the other can be the result of evaluating these properties. It turned out that the evaluation is contained in the derived verbs formed from the estimated nouns or arises in the process of word formation on the basis of the metaphor. Actual for carriers of dialects are LSG verbs of verbal communication and LSG verbs of speech influence. Dialectal verbs usually reflect a conflict situation. To form these verbs, metaphorical models are used, complicated by the Fictitious modality and the emotional modality. Emotional assessment is able to influence the interlocutor. The presence of metaphorical names is explained by the anthropocentricity of the group and the special discourse. It turned out that for the speakers, the dialect is characterized by a negative attitude toward meaningless, unproductive, verbose arguments; to the moral discredit of the interlocutor (semes “scold”, “gossip”). Such qualities as intelligence, ability to convey information in a clear and accessible form are valued. Keywords: proposition, semantics, speech activity, derived word, dialectal vocabulary, metaphorical model, evaluative vocabulary, subjective modality, idiomaticity | 1990 | |||||
| 2583 | Introduction. A comparative study of the theory and practice of education in Finland is due to the natural interest of researchers in the experience of countries that hold leading positions in international educational monitoring, where the Finnish system shows consistently high results. The focus of the analysis is education implemented in rural areas, the features of the activity of a rural school, the specifics of the professional activity of a rural teacher. Materials and methods. The material for the analysis was the research of Finnish scientists and specialists in the field of education, the experience of international Russian-Finnish educational projects. Results and discussion. The theory and practice of the development of education in Finland is of interest for Russian scientists and practitioners, and for researchers of the Republic of Karelia, especially, since the similarity of both territories in terms of geographical, natural-climatic, ethnocultural, demographic and other indicators is obvious. In both territories, rural schools represent a significant part of the general education system. Conclusion. Analysis of the works of Finnish and Russian scientists made it possible to: fix the coincidence of the positions of researchers regarding the peculiarities of the rural school and the specifics of the work of a rural teacher, the relevance of the socio-cultural approach to the modernization of education in rural areas, as well as the need for targeted training and support for the professional formation and development of a rural teacher in the paradigm of lifelong education ; to identify common approaches to substantiating such ways of preserving and developing a small school such as creating a socio-cultural center, transforming a school into a service center for a rural settlement (according to E. Korpinen). Keywords: comparative research, rural school, rural teacher, sociocultural modernization of education | 1990 | |||||
| 2584 | A short story “Bobok” by F.M. Dostoevsky is regarded to be one of the most complicated works of the writer not only from the point of the number of issues being discussed, but also in terms of genre identification. The scholars believe that it is possible to consider the story as an example of the synthesis of genres. The purpose of the article is to reveal the peculiarities of the reception of “Bobok” in the USA by identifying the genre shifts in the English translation of the story. The material of the study is a short story “Bobok” and its English translation made by Boris L. Brazol in 1949. The original and translated texts are analyzed within the philological approach including the bases of comparative analysis. Additionally, the study uses the findings of Russian and foreign Dostoevsky scholars, as well as the works on genre theory, reception theory, and fiction translation. Compared to the original text, the English version of “Bobok” demonstrates formal and issue-related transformations that are primarily induced by the peculiarities of the literature in the USA in the middle of the 20th century: emergence of black humor as one of the most adequate forms of creative writings in the context of cultural crisis. The translator focuses on conveying those story’s features that coincide with the key characteristics of black humor genre, i.e. satirico-humorous effect, borderline condition of character, overlapping of reality and unreality. The complex narrative structure is not preserved; there is no iconic linkage in conveying the words that constitute the logical gradation and are directly connected with the main issues of the story. The absence of the complex structure of the story in the translation, including the ignorance of iconic linkage in conveying the key concepts of the original, blurs out the genre diversity of “Bobok” and results in issue-related transformations. The complicated story “Bobok” is perceived in English version as a black humor writing, which in its turn identifies the stage of “passive saturation” of American culture with such texts followed by the stage of blossom (“active transmission”) of black humor poetics in 1950–70th. | 2598 | Introduction. Valery Ronshin’s works belong to the phenomenon of the two-address literature, i.e. they are focused on children’s and adult audiences and contain considerable pedagogical potential by actualizing important moral and ethical problems for the education of teenagers and children. On the other hand, the simplified form of narration that does not require reader’s considerable intelligent efforts, as well as the use of devices of the popular literature show the author’s attempt to entertain, amuse the reader. The aim of the work is to analyse Ronshin’s “horror stories” and to prove that his works concern popular literature. Material and methods. The material of the research is the works by Ronshin written in the genre of “horror story” (by the author’s definition). In the paper, the methods of comparative and motive the analysis are used. As a theoretical base, the works of Russian literary critics were used: E. M. Meletinsky, M. A. Chernyak, O. N. Grechina, M. V. Osorina, E. A. Polevaya, A. I. Kulyapin. Results and discussion. Valery Ronshin uses images, motives, genres of traditional folklore (a horror story, a fairy tale, a joke, sadistic rhymes) that are familiar to each reader since childhood. In such a way, the author accomplishes, firstly, the effect of the recognition facilitating the reader perception of similar works, secondly, the task to entertain is realized. In spite of the fact that Ronshin’s books are focused on the children’s audience, which is shown by a colourful cover, illustrations in “naïve” or children’s style, the use of traditional children’s folklore genres, his works are addressed to the adult audience as they contain the elements of black humour, the comic devices that are aimed at adults (alogism, devices of discrepancy of the used means, discrepancies of hero’s behaviour to the circumstances, invectives), elements of physiologism. The central problem of the analyzed works is a pedagogical incapacity of parents, unreadiness to the dialogue with children. Conclusion. Valery Ronshin creates works actualizing important educational problems, uses formulas and devices of folklore genres with the purpose to amuse, entertain the reader. His stories should be attributed to the phenomenon of popular literature that inherently aimed at entertainment, escapism, the use of traditional plots and genres.
