Chizhov N.S. Dialogue in the book by Y. Vella “Talk to me...”: ethnocultural identity and value basis. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 3 (233). P. 131-140

The study was carried out on the material of the poetic and prose texts of Yu. Vella (1948–2013), included in his fourth book “Talk to me...”. The dialogical intention is indicated in the title of the book, addressed to the Nenets student and the one who “would like to listen to the Nenets soul.” The structural features of the dialogical situation in the book “Talk to me...” are determined by the traditionalist type of artistic consciousness of the Nenets master of words, for whom the values of significance are, firstly, rootedness in the national cultural tradition, secondly, involvement in the process of ethno-confessional continuity, thirdly, a mythopoetic picture of the world and awareness of the harmony of existence in unity with the spiritualized natural world. The dialogue in the book is modeled by the poet in three interrelated areas: intercultural interaction in Russian, Nenets and French; aesthetic communication between the author and the reader (Nenets student, young reindeer herder, etc.) and intra-textual events in the form of friendly communication between the owner and the guests at the chuval, or the reindeer herder guessing riddles (“My riddles (riddles from Tatva)”), or the lyrical hero’s instructions to someone who is ready to open up to world in order to experience spiritual transformation on Nenets land (“Swan Hunt (dialogues)”). Yu. Vella, as a social and cultural leader of the Nenets of Western Siberia, felt responsible not only for the fate of his small people, but also for the lives of people caught in the zone of interethnic conflicts. Yu. Vella, as a social and cultural leader of the Nenets of Western Siberia, felt responsible not only for the fate of his small people, but also for the lives of people caught in the zone of interethnic conflicts. The poem “Swan Hunt (dialogues)” and the poems “The Highest Value” and “The Golden Fleece” are dedicated to the latter. The architectonics of the experience “The Highest Form of Harmony” expresses the idea that dialogue between people of different nationalities and religions is possible if we return to the direct (“childish”) perception of the world, which allows us to restore the value connection of a person with the natural Cosmos surrounding him. In conclusion, the mechanisms of interaction of ethnocultural components in texts under the general title “Talk to me (the story of one translation)” are considered from the point of view of the poet’s bilingual representation of the same work, reflected by the author in the commentary to his translation.

Kotova E.L. “THE SYSTEM OF INVENTED SIGNS IS TERNING THE WHOLE WORLD…”: POLEMIC OF A. V. MAKEDONOV WITH SEMEIOLOGISTS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 10 (163). P. 150-156

The article deals with the aesthetic views of A. V. Makedonov – a famous literary critic and historian of the Soviet literature and post-Soviet periods. He was a supporter of the scientific concept of perceiving art as a constantly evolving knowledge of objective reality in the form of a second subjective-objective reality. The basic aesthetic views of Makedonov are connected with German classical aesthetics, particularly the philosophy of G.W.F. Gegel, the works of V. G. Belinsky and N. G. Chernyshevsky. In his works of the 1960–1980s, he was engaged in a polemic with Russian and foreign supporters of the theory of semiotics, in particular with Yu. M. Lotman. The researcher tried to prove that, despite a number of accurate statements, his opponents failed to determine the specificity of art as they tried to reduce all the originality of artistic creativity to the characteristics of different sign systems and as well as to reject the study of artistic image as a way to acquire knowledge about objective reality.

Tokarev G.V. Reflection of personality self-identification process by the standards of Russian linguoculture. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 26-35

The article is devoted to determining the peculiarities of self-identification, i.e. self-understanding, by the standards of the Russian linguoculture. To achieve the goal, the author uses onomasiological, component, conceptual analysis, linguocultural interpretation techniques. A standard is a sign of culture, expressing in verbal form stereotypical ideas about the typical features and qualities of a person. Standards have been proved to be the main means for selfidentification of the subject of culture. They objectify various aspects of a person’s inner world, his/her appearance, social interaction. The article establishes that a standard is an element of people’s identity, the result of the identification process, which is accompanied by the characterization of the subject of culture. These processes are embodied in the internal form of the standard, which is considered as a verbal stereotype reflecting the prototypical representation of the denoted phenomenon. The article reveals that all major cultural codes are involved in the formation of standards. The study identifies productive cultural codes that are used in the identification process. They include anthropomorphic, biomorphic, actional. The standards are represented by the units identifying a person as a kind and on certain aspects of his/her life activity. The formation of standards is carried out on the basis of linguocultural types, archetypal representations or practical human observations of reality phenomena. One verbal stereotype can be the basis of different standards. A standard can fix a deviation from the norm, indicating the norm for good or bad. The majority of standards are characterized by pejorative evaluativeness. The research discovers that the standards of anthropomorphic code of culture serve to objectify ideas about types of people oriented towards the inner world or material values. Anthropomorphic stereotypes pointing to social attributes identify features of a person in the context of social relations. Biomorphic stereotypes are based on archetypal knowledge or practical observations. The majority of units of this group record a deviation from the norm or pattern and include a negative evaluation in their meaning, which is explained by the interpretation of the animal as an ersatz human being. Units with positive evaluation dominate among the standards with the image “Bird”. Verbal stereotypes of plants are unproductive and are used mainly to objectify negative aspects. In fetish standards, value and functional characteristics of the object, as well as feelings from contact with it, become significant. Human standards formed on the basis of actional attributes embody ideas about the behavioural norms accepted in the Russian culture. The standards of the animic code reflect the immersion of a person in the context of nature, the feeling of being a part of it.

Rakhimova T.A., Zboykova N.A. ACADEMIC MOBILITY AND PROFESSIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMPETENCE OF TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY STUDENTS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2015. Issue 10 (163). P. 104-108

The study of modern standards and requirements for higher education institutions in Russia and Germany leads to the idea that learning a foreign language becomes the task of undergraduate or graduate students themselves. The value of academic mobility which to a certain extent is implemented in all higher schools of Russia to achieve the quality of bachelor’s or master’s degree is presently being studied. The introduction of this technique to the educational process requires the appropriate training and support on the part of foreign language teachers. It is necessary to consider both the psychological and communicative training of students. The basis for formation of the professional foreign language competence is formed during the basic training of a foreign language. The next step is the transition from general technical texts to special ones. It is important to complicate the teaching material gradually, use a variety of sources in order to give students the opportunity of finding some familiar elements in each following task. This will help them understand the text and remove the possible psychological and communicative problems.

Notions reading and writing from J.-P. Sartre’s autobiographical tale The Words (Les Mots) are considered in their relation to representing an authorial ego and to existential experience of an autobiographical character, which undergoes authorial formation by going through various stages of reading and writing. Individual literary evolution is specified by its correlation with literary evolution in general. There studied how the mechanism of writing is paradoxically described in the narrative and the way it performs the summit of a single ego’s fulfillment along with the ego’s estrangement and vanishing into generality at the same time. There also revealed an analogy between forming an autobiographical character’s reading and writing habit and his experiencing the notion of death. Sartre’s parting from literature in The Words is explained in connection with R. Barthes concept of “Death of the author”.

Khasanzyanova G.I. TRANSLATION PECULIARITIES OF ECONOMIC TERMS FROM ENGLISH INTO THE TATAR LANGUAGE FROM THE POINT OF THEIR NOMINATIVE STRUCTURE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 4 (210). P. 38-44

Introduction. The article is devoted to the study of the translation peculiarities of economic terms from English into Tatar language from the point of their nominative structure. Economic terms function productively in English. The problems raised in the work are the specifics of translating economic terms into Tatar, the difficulties of translating them, as well as the analysis of the peculiarities of translating economic terms according to their nominative basis. Difficulties in translating economic terminology are one of the main obstacles to communication in the economic sciences. The relevance of the problem. The international exchange of scientific and technical information has especially grown in the last decade, and the modern language is at a new stage of its development in connection with an increase in the level of information content of culture. Interest in language and its knowledge is constantly growing; the number of scientific and technical publications is growing so fast that it becomes incredibly difficult to process the flow of scientific and technical literature. Translations and abstracts of foreign language literature are handled not only by specialized publishing houses, translation centers, professional translators of research institutes and industrial enterprises, but also by practitioners from various sectors of the national economy. The relevance of the reviewed article is due to the need to describe the terminological units of several languages (English and Tatar) in a comparative aspect. The purpose of the article is to study the structure, semantics and translation of English economic terms into Tatar according to their nominative character. Meterial and methods. The following methods of linguistic analysis were used in the work as an analytical collection and analysis of newspaper literature on the problems and peculiarities of the translation of written language, a comparative method. The study material was the English texts of economic subjects. The terms were singled out by continuous sampling from the text of the newspapers such as Financial Times, The Economist. Conclusion. The results of the study can be used in the development of lecture courses in lexicology, translation theory.

The appeal to the problem of formation of research competences of future teachers of mathematics is connected with the changing requirements of modern society to the teacher, as well as with the specifics of the subject “Mathematics”. When organizing and planning the process of teaching mathematics to students in the format of modern standards the teacher uses research knowledge, skills and abilities. Therefore, the process of vocational training of pedagogical university students should contribute to the formation of these characteristics. This requires the implementation of design of the process of formation of research skills of pedagogical university students. As a result of this work the author developed a structural-functional model of formation of these competencies. We distinguish and characterize the components of the model.

The results of investigation of the fullerene C60 ground state electron structure obtained with the use of model spherical-symmetric potentials of electron-nuclear interaction are presented. The following models: the rectangular potential well, the potential of the uniformly charged sphere, and the potential “in a chosen direction” are used in the calculations. The new potential “in a chosen direction” has been used for the first time, so that the corresponding results are of the most interest. We suppose this potential takes into account, to a certain extend, the real geometry of the molecule C60 and the screening of the nuclei Coulomb field by the inner-shell electrons. The single-electron energies are calculated in both Hartree and Hartree-Fock approximations for the averaged term configuration of 60 outermost valence electrons. The inner-shell electrons are included effectively into the molecular ionic core. The parameters of the potential are chosen to provide the best correspondence of single-electron energies and the experimental ionization thresholds IP1=7.58 eV , IP2=11.50 eV. The calculation showed a good agreement between the calculated results and experimental data. All that will allow utilization of well-developed methods of the theoretical atomic physics to investigation of spectroscopic properties of highly-symmetrical molecular clusters

Miklukho Y.Y. To the Problem of Literary Translation of W. Stevens’ Poems into Russian. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 1 (225). P. 69-75

The problem of the translatability of a literary text has remained urgent. At different times, there have been debates in literary science about whether it is permissible and possible to recreate an original work by means of a foreign language. In this article, the Bakhtin thesis on the “dialogue of cultures” and the provisions on the fundamental translatability of a work of art developed in the works of Russian comparative scientists are the starting points. The purpose is to analyze the poems of the American modernist poet Wallace Stevens and his Russian – language translations. The program poem by U. Stevens’ “Thirteen Ways to look at the Blackbird” and its translations into Russian served as the material for the study. The study uses the methods of linguo-stylistic analysis of language units, the method of philological analysis of a literary text, and comparative analysis. Creative works of Stevens reflect a general tendency of complexity of the poetic language that was earlier expressed by G. Elliot. Stevens’ poetry remains a mystery, has various interpretations while the author himself does not provide detailed and clear recommendations. The symbol of poetry for Stevens is music – the most abstract kind of art that is why any art should strive towards the state of music. In his poems, Stevens creates a world of imaginary, conditional and mysterious reality. The origins of his poetics go back to romanticism and symbolism, Coleridge’s understanding of the imagination, echoes of Nietzscheanism, Freudian and Jungian motifs. That is the reason why it can be challenging to understand what the author’s poems are about. It leads to multiple interpretations of Stevens’ works. This feature of the poetic style of the American author gives translators freedom when working on Stevens’ texts and actualizes some dominants of original works while obscuring others. An accurate translation of Stevens’ poems is not the same as a successful translation. That is why the researchers recommend to take into consideration his entire artistic heritage (including his theoretical research) when analyzing individual poems. Stevens’ individual poems become parts of a single hypertext that can be understood by having a complete image of an imaginary world created by the author. The paper considers one of the curriculum poems written by Stevens’ “Thirteen ways of looking at a blackbird” and the ways of implementation of the author’s conception in its Russian translations. The analysis of the selected translations made it possible to identify the translation made by Britanishsky as the closest to the concept of equivalence. His translation conveys the lexical content of the original poem, though there are significant deviations that deprive the poem of a holistic reconstruction of the author’s idea.

Fonova E.G., Shitts O.A. On translator' and interpreter’s professional competences in the era of artificial intelligence. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2025. Issue 1 (237). P. 148-156

The subject of modern professional competencies of translators and interpreters and relevancy of them adjustment in the era of the progress in machine translation and artificial intelligence are discussed. The problem of correlation of translation and MT-editing is defined; the question of changing the status of the translator and the authorship of the products is also raised. The point of the requirement to notice that translation/ interpreting was made by artificial intelligence is debatable. The ethical and confidential considerations of translation when using artificial intelligence technology are the important aspects considered in the article. Under present conditions of increased competition in the market of higher education, when words about the disappearance of the translators are becoming more insistent and a post-editor of ma chine translation, who will only need to learn how to use machine translation tools in simple professional training or additional education courses, is the most likely successor, the problem of translators’/ interpreters’ studies is strongly focused. Thus situated the key criteria for measuring of effectiveness of performance is the competence of a MT-post-editor to evaluate how accurate an AI-assisted translation is. Particularly notes that there are a number of areas in which artificial intelligence does not outperform human intelligence, therefore not be able in the near future to replace a human translator: for example, literary translation, namely translation of poetry, translation from ancient languages (Latin, ancient Greek) and medieval literature translation. In the case of literary translation, weak productivity of artificial intelligence relates to the problem of transfer of the pragmatic component, and in the context of ancient texts – the lack of database for teaching artificial intelligence. Thus, the importance of union of classical training in translation and acquisition of modern translation technologies for the successful integration of graduates into the professional sphere is emphasized.
