Igna Y.D. SYSTEMATIZATION OF THE TERMS OF LANGUAGE DIDACTICS IN CONTEMPORARY DICTIONARIES. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 3 (180). P. 84-87

Terminology of language didactics as a kind of pedagogical terminology includes the most important concepts of linguistics, pedagogy, philosophy, psychology and applied linguistics. The number of terms included in the dictionaries of language didactics has been steadily increasing, and it can be seen both in domestic and foreign editions. The article deals with the problems of systematization of terminology of language didactics in contemporary domestic and foreign dictionaries. The main difficulties of systematization of pedagogical terms and terms of language didactics are determined, among them are: changes in the conceptual apparatus, spontaneity of occurrence of terms, ambiguity and inconsistency of terms and concepts, the desire of scientists to give their own definition of new concepts, tautology, incorrect grammatical and stylistic formulation of the concepts, the choice of the term formulation without proper reasoning, the uncertainty of the relationship between concepts, mechanic replacing of conventional terms, “fashion” on certain terms, the lack of mechanisms of official scientific recognition of terms. The main contemporary dictionaries of language didactics are analysed. Particular qualities of the systematization of terms of these dictionaries are characterized (the number of terms, their grouping, reflection of the relationship of terms and terminological groups). Some drawbacks in systematization and description of terms in modern dictionaries of language didactics are named.

Beiskhanova S.A., Svich N.A. REVISITING THE DETERMINING LEVELS OF STUDENT LANGUAGE COMPETENCE IN TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 12 (189). P. 81-84

This article concerns the question of determining levels of language competence in foreign language teaching to students of technical specialties. The paper includes the results and analysis of testing aiming at identifying relevance to one or another knowledge level of a foreign language. The knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, understanding of foreign speech based on reading is checked with the help of placement test. The assessment of basic knowledge by means of input testing reveals the correspondence of knowledge, habits and skills of students to one or another level of knowledge of a foreign language. In its turn, the subsequent language competence in the university, which orients future specialists to self-development and intercultural communication, depends on the results of testing. The main goal of the level approach in foreign language teaching is the striving to provide conditions that allow students to make progress at the level identified by the results of placement test. The experience shows that applying this approach to students in teaching allows to develop habits and skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing at the appropriate level in order to achieve the next level of mastering a foreign language successfully. According to the results of the entrance testing, the groups are formed, i.e. students are distributed to groups (subgroups) taking into account their language knowledge by means of applying the technology of level training.

Savenko A.S. LEXICOLIZATION OF INSIDE FORM OF PHYTONIMS IN RUSSIAN, ENGLISH AND CZECH. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 2 (191). P. 48-53

The article deals with phenomenon of lexicalization of the inside form of plants’ names in the Russian language in comparison with English and Czech. Lexicalization of a word inside form is defined as acquisition of idiomatic character of a word in basis of disability of motivated relationship with other words. The sources of the research are explanatory, translated, etymological dictionaries and botanical reference books as well as statements of informants’ language consciousness. The psycholinguistic experiment with native speakers of Russian, English and Czech was examined in order to define idiomatic character of a word inside form. In the course of the motivational-comparative analysis it was defined that there are two groups of phytonims with idiomatic inside form. The first group includes such lexical units, the reason for the idiomaticity of which is low information content, that led to quick deactualization of motivated sign. The second group consists of lexical units, which idiomaticity’s reason is a loss of initial motivated sign, obvilion of one of the word meaning, though that word is well-known to native speakers of the language. In the issue of the conducted experiment a layer of phytonymic vocabulary with idiomatic and non-idiomatic inside form in the Russian, English and Czech languages was defined, specificity of lexicalization of word inside form of Russian plants’ names was described, extralinguistic and linguistic reasons of lexicalization of word inside form of phytonims were determined. In conclusion it should be noted that the phenomenon of lexicalization in Russian is an operative process, that confirms the tendency to motivation of language units.

Logopedic work includes a corrective stage, containing in its composition three blocks: motivational, lexicalgrammatical, dialogical. The criterion of the motivational block was dialogic skills: coming into contact with a familiar, unfamiliar person; overcoming a sense of insecurity; stable emotional contact. Criteria of dialogical skills of the lexico-grammatical block: the ability to select words, their variation (based on real actions, images – without support); the ability to ask questions (based on real actions, images – without support); the ability to quickly compose a phrase sentence; variations by them. Criteria of dialogical skills of the third block: the level of drawing up dialogues in various situations with the support of the formed skills: the ability to ask questions, to ask questions again; the level of initiative in communication (the ability to make decisions independently, to prove one’s point of view). Each block is disclosed by methods and techniques of working with this category of children.

Galkina T.V., Poleva E.A. Manuscripts by A. M. Volkov as keys to understanding the development of the author’s concept of the fairy tale “The Wizard of the Emerald City”. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 4 (234). P. 154-168

The article is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the publication of the first edition of A. M. Volkov’s fairy tale “The Wizard of the Emerald City” (1939). The work uses for the first time the handwritten collection of the children’s writer A.M. Volkov, stored at Tomsk State Pedagogical University. Manuscripts allow one to penetrate into the writer’s workshop, to trace the formation and development of an idea and the course of the creative process. A comparison of the structure of chapters in the 1936 manuscript and the 1939 edition made it possible to identify changes made to the composition (deletion, introduction of new ones, merging chapters). In addition, the article provides fragments of manuscripts from 1936, with which A. Volkov planned to supplement the text, but did not include them in the printed version of 1939. Analysis of the drafts gave an idea of A. Volkov’s work with character names. It was important for the writer to find equivalents to the names in F. Baum’s fairy tale, so that they would be understandable to the Russian-speaking reader and optimally reveal the character’s image. The writer worked on the largest number of name options for Scarecrow. Of particular interest is the manuscript of fragments of A. M. Volkov’s play “Flight to Fairyland” based on “The Wizard of the Emerald City”. The manuscript is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time and commented on. The diary entries of A. Volkov and the unusual image of Goodwin in fragments of the play (a black slave Uncle Joe who escaped from an exploiter) indicate that the writer tried to submit to circumstances, adapt to the requirements of censorship, inscribing a fairy tale plot into the traditions of social literature of the late 19th – first half XX century. However, the incompleteness of the play’s concept can be explained by both external (the onset of the “thaw”) and internal (unwillingness to obey the political situation) reasons. The manuscript of “Flight to Fairytale Land” is published in full in this issue of the magazine.

Kovalevskaya E.N., Kuryanovich A.V., Zhukova E.Y. THE CREATION AND USE OF POTENTIAL TRIAL-SEARCH ACTIONS IN THE COURSE OF PRACTICAL TRAINING OF STUDENTS-PHILOLOGISTS FOR THE FORMATION OF STUDENTS’ UNIVERSAL EDUCATIONAL ACTIONS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 2 (191). P. 157-161

Reconstructing the experience of using the capacity of some trial-search actions (Karl Popper Debate, joint activity forms: authoritarian, leadership, affiliate) has been proposed for the formation of students’ personal, communicative, regulative and cognitive universal educational actions. A database of the experimental study is the preparation of final grade students for final examination in the format of the Unified state exam in literature. It is suggested that each stage of the educational project (preparatory, theoretical, modeling, and presentational) requires relevant methodological and pedagogical support. The outcome of the project implementation is the development of the students’ subjectivity. This is possible due to the teacher taking an ambivalent position at various stages of the debate: remaining the organizer of the activities he or she can be authoritarian, partner or leader, depending on the nature of the project participants’ initiative. Each of the designated positions is realized in the relevant pedagogical actions, those of «informer», «coordinator», «editor» or «analyst». The development of the project is due to the changing nature of students’ semantic activity. The development and formation of the universal educational actions act as indicators of the project participants’ success. As a whole, the content of the activities organized by the teacher in the transition to new educational standards is discussed in this paper as educational designing within the innovative format. The main feature of this format is the phenomenon of the teacher’s «personal presence» in the design and organization of the educational reality which is created for the attainment of his or her professional goals. The presented project is understood as a way of educational technology introduced in the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard of Secondary (complete) General Education.

Keywords: final examination for literature, trial-search action, Karl Popper Debate, joint activity form, ambivalent position of teachers, universal educational actions

Musina G.F., Satarova L.K. FORMATION OF COMPLEX AND COMPOUND TERMS OF PHYSICS IN TATAR LANGUAGE BY COMBINING THE BASES WITH COMPLETE RELATIONS OF THEIR COMPONENTS. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 5 (194). P. 38-42

The article deals with complex and compound terms of physics in the Tatar language formed by combining of bases with complete relations of their components. This type of word formation is very common in the terminology of physics in the Tatar language. Basically, linguists use this method to form terms with two or more components. The scientific novelty of the article is that for the first time it gives the information about the methods of formation of complex and compound physics terms in the Tatar language. The article gives an explanation of the concept “complete relation”, types and examples of the Tatar terms of physics formed this way. Both complex and compound terms are formed by combining the bases with complete relations of their components, but the bulk is composed of compound words that have their own word-formation models. The first components of such terms are different parts of speech, and the second component is often the noun, less often the verb. Also, most of the compound terms of physics are multicomponent words, which consist of three, four, and five components. The first components of complex or compound terms are often terminological elements or commonly used international words. The authors come to the conclusion that multicomponent terms of physics which can consist of both own words of the Tatar language and international featuring Tatar component are basically formed by combining the bases with complete relations of their components.

Stepanova E.S. LINGUOCOGNITIVE PECULIARITIES OF THE SCIENTIFIC AND POPULAR MEDICAL DISCOURSE. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 4 (201). P. 95-101

The aim of the research is the description of the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse, which is represented by phenomenological cognitive structures and linguistic cognitive structures. It provides the differentiation of the notions “scientific medical discourse” and “scientific and popular medical discourse”. The scientific and popular medical discourse is one of the types of the scientific discourse. Material and methods. The methodology of the research is based on the cognitive approach to the phenomenon, its actualization in the discourse proposed by Victoria V. Krasnykh. She states that knowledge and representations are preserved in cognitive structures. The research methods are cultural analysis and descriptive-analytical contextual method. Results and discussion. The results of the research show linguistic means that represent phenomenological cognitive structures that are typical for the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse. Extralinguistic factors influence the discourse. In case of the scientific and popular medical discourse the sphere of doctor-patient communication serves as an extralinguistic factor. The scientific and popular medical discourse has the characteristics of the scientific medical discourse (representatives of which are doctors) and the naïve medical discourse (representatives of which are patients). The strategies that are typical for different types of discourse intersect in the scientific and popular medical discourse. Conclusion. The theoretical significance of the research lies in the fact that results of the research contribute to cognitive linguistics on the questions concerning the study of the scientific and popular medical discourse. The results expand the basis of study of semantics of the scientific and popular medical discourse, means of realization of phenomenological cognitive structures. The suggested typology can be used for the analysis of other types of discourse. The practical significance lies in the fact that the typology of phenomenological cognitive structures characterizes the cognitive and discursive space of the scientific and popular medical discourse. The author of the scientific and popular medical discourse uses linguistic means taking into consideration linguocultural experience of a linguistic personality. It helps to view the ordinary phenomenon from the unusual perspective. The article presents the examples of realization of phenomenological cognitive structures that reflect cultural views of the society. Phenomenological cognitive structures represent cultural values in the transformed way.

Event-related brain potentials (ERPs) were explored in task of production of time intervals. Subjects were presented with digits (1, 3, 4, 5) of different colours on the monitor. On the first series (A) all digits corresponded to time intervals, which were to be produced by double pressing a key «space». On the second series (B) red digits corresponded to time intervals, which subject should produce by double pressing a key «space». Blue digits corresponded to number of key presses, which subject should make. Digits of other colours must be ignored. We found early differences of ERPs to stimuli of different colours only when colour of stimulus had signal significance. The found differences between the ERPs on production of time intervals and those on performance of the competing task in the piece of 350–500 ms from the visual stimulus onset, are related to the analysis of signal significance of stimulus and the choice of a motor program. The most probable correlate of accessing long-term memory for extraction of the subjective standard of time in the presence of the competing task of similar complexity is the negative component appearing at 250–150 ms before production of time interval. It is established, that the source of this component is in the parietal part of cingulated gyros of the right hemisphere.

Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 3 (192). P. 131-138

This article focuses on the analysis of organization and content matter of student competition on History as part of the Siberian rounds of the XIII and XIV All-Russian student competitions on History among pedagogical universities held in 2016–2017 hosted by Tomsk State Pedagogical University. The authors analyze particular aspects connected with organizing academic Olympiads for bachelor’s and master’s degree students majoring in “Pedagogical Education”. A two-aspect format (comprising both theoretical and practical components) has been considered as appropriate for organizing academic Olympiads. The theoretical component is based on the tasks which allow to reveal the abilities of doing cognitive activities, the level of historical consciousness of potential teachers while the practical component involved methodological assignments which assess the abilities to apply academic performance in real educational process as well as the abilities to put into practice professional competences connected with History teachers’ pedagogical work. The forms of carrying out of various competitions (intellectual games, brainstorming, discussions, tasks on complex analysis of the historical source, section of creative methodical tasks, creation of the exhibition concept, essay contest) are described, criteria of their estimation is analyzed, the characteristic peculiarities of each competitive task are revealed. For the first time at the student competition in 2016, a new form was tested as a training session (an open lesson) with 7–8 classes schoolchildren participating. The introduction of this form into the student competitions is natural and relevant for development of student competitions movement in pedagogical universities of Russia. The possible ways to form the theoretical basis and the necessary institutional conditions for everyday educational activities of the pupils (students, working professionals, retirees) are determined. Offered a possible model of the open pedagogic environment related to social, technological and ecological environment. Highlighted the link between educational space, educational environment and personal educational spheres in global education space. The necessity of teaching evaluation for didactic characteristics of total mobile connectivity, hybrid (virtual and augmented) reality, "brain-computer interfaces" and other innovative technologies, and the impact of the digital reality on the identity of the person, to his way of thinking and lifestyle is showed. From the point of view of the open pedagogy-andragogy, the State should define the overall framework for educational space-regulation, level organization forms of institutional education, and professional standards. In this space can operate educational services providers of various ranks: normative authorized educational institutions (public and private schools, lyceums, colleges, institutes and universities) business (consulting, expert, training etc.) institutions, volunteer associations, professionally oriented hybrid organization types, accompanying public education. The necessity of pedagogical evaluation of not only didactic characteristics of total mobile connectivity, virtual and augmented reality, brain-computer interfaces and other innovative technologies, but also the influence of digital reality on personality, his thinking and way of life, is grounded.

Kobenko Y.V. UNKNOWN OBVIOUS TRICHOTOMY: ROLE OF LOGIC IN GLOTTOGONY. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 7 (204). P. 115-129

Introduction. The oxymoron in the title of the paper expresses the evidence of the trichotomy proposed in the work and its obscurity to a wide range of poststructuralists who in one way or another touch upon questions of glottogenesis. The dominance in the world linguistics of the intracorporal vectors of language search from the middle of the past century led only to the mystification of this field of knowledge. However, the turn of research at the change of millennia towards extralinguistics is capable of dispelling the myth rooted in a wide audience about the intracorporal (cognitive, psychological, mental, etc.) origin of the language and leading the extralinguistic determinism of glottogony and language evolution processes to the first positions in linguistics. Nevertheless, contrary to the repeatedly verified data of interdisciplinary research, at present, one can still observe the confrontation of the sophistic tradition of idealism, defending the idea of intracorporal origin of the language, and the completely forgotten in linguistic circles theory of socially determined genesis of language, that had solitary status still in the middle of the last century. Post-structuralism, which has thoroughly entered into a “cognitive dead end”, has condemned itself to deserved criticism, to which a fair amount of this work is devoted. The aim of the paper is to propose a new trichotomy of structural systemic linguistics “language system – grammar – speech”. Material and methods. Structural-systemic and semiotic approaches form the epistemological framework of the study, during which the methods of logic (analysis, synthesis, comparison, etc.) were used, as well as the general scientific method of triangulation, that allows to single out a common third for two objects of observation. Results and discussion. The proposed trichotomy of the structural-system linguistics “language system – grammar – speech”, where grammar is understood as a set of rules, and speech – as a result of combinations of system elements, deepens understanding of the functioning of sign communication systems in the language community, as well as co-evolution of language and society. The language is designed so that the minimum of speech combinatorics can contribute to the assimilation of the rule, and the learned rule, in turn, is the key to mastering the maximum of the system itself. The rule, as an additional third and transitional link between the system and the function, acts simultaneously as an extra-linguistic binding of the virtual system of signs, invisible to a person, and the speaker. The sign nature of a language is understood through the semiotic conditionality of glottogony, in which logic plays a leading role not in the Aristotelian sense, but as a system of principles, laws, and operations for performing a certain activity — in this case, communicative. The participation of logic in the processes of speech-generation refutes the existing ideas about grammar as part of a language construct and prompts to consider it an additional third (instruction) in relation to the language system and individual speech repertoires. Conclusion. Glottogony is not a cognitive, but a logical-semiotic process. The sign, which lies at the base of all three elements of trichotomy, precedes both the processes of understanding (awareness) and the production of speech. In addi tion, through the sign and logical (non-mental or speculative) rule of its use, the speaking population becomes itself: the sign and rule unites users of the language, realizing its main function in the environment – the integrative one.

Mastepak T.G., Poleva E.A. CHILDHOOD IN THE SOCIO-CULTURAL SPACE OF THE NOVEL BY V. NABOKOV “GIFT”/“DAR”. Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2020. Issue 3 (209). P. 30-44

Introduction. The appeal to the study of childhood in V. Nabokov’s novel is argued by a number of factors: historical and cultural changes at the beginning of the 20th century, attention to the phenomenon of childhood in humanitarian knowledge, and the significance of childhood in the aesthetics of modernism. Despite the fact that the topic of childhood has repeatedly become the subject of Nabokov’s analysis, it was not considered as part of the sociocultural space in the novel “Gift” (“Dar”). The purpose of the work is to explore the social and cultural features that describe the space of the formation of the personality of the characters; to determine the features of childhood as part of the socio-cultural space of V. Nabokov’s novel “Gift” (“Dar”). Material and methods. The study is based on the material of the novel “Gift” (“Dar”). The theoretical and methodological base of the research is composed of the sociological works of P. Sorokin, his works on the semiotics of the creative space of Y.M. Lotman, E. Farino, Nabokov’s studies of Yu. Levin. Results and discussion. The central character Fyodor Godunov-Cherdyntsev is the subject of understanding childhood as a special socio-cultural space in the novel. He recreates a number of signs (a description of the toys, a specific location of the Godunov mansion in St. Petersburg, a description of the interior of the estate in Leshino, a characteristic of the social relationship of the family, etc.), which make it possible to get an idea of a “successful childhood”. The image of his childhood is fitted by the novice poet into the manor and St. Petersburg’s style of Russian literature and through the association of his nanny with Arina Rodionovna, the spiritual relationship of the Godunov clan with Pushkin is established. The uniqueness of the socio-cultural space of Fyodor’s childhood is in the stereoscopic volume, the fullness of existence, ensured by the inclusion of the Godunov’s family in the natural universe, science, and elite culture. The social well-being of the Godunov-Cherdyntsev’s family is interpreted by Nabokov not like someone’s giving this privilege, but as genuine (internal) aristocracy, which is ensured by internal strength of mind, the ability to fulfill oneself in various fields: social and political (Fyodor’s Grandfather), scientific (Father Konstantin Kirillovich), creative (Fyodor). In contrast to his own childhood, Fyodor describes the childhood of the “great sixties” N. G. Chernyshevsky (Godunov’s best toys and clothes are contrasted with Nicolya’s “trousers”/“nankov’s trousers; Fyodor’s attentiveness and vigilance are contrasted with Nicolas’s shortsightedness; Godunov-Cherdyntsev’s physical dexterity is opposed to Chernyshevsky’s clumsiness, etc.). Finally, the continuity of the views and values of the father by the son in the noble family and the refusal to follow in the footsteps of the father in the family history of the son of the priest, the revolutionary fellow of Chernyshevsky are emphasized. Conclusion. Contrary to the prevailing opinion about Nabokov as a writer who is alien to social issue, the analysis allows us to state that the socio-cultural code is a significant method of revealing the ideological and thematic originality of the novel “Gift” (“Dar”). The socio-cultural space of childhood turns out to be the determining factor for all subsequent life. The socio-cultural space in Nabokov’s novels can be considered in a number of ways: intra-family and clan relations; social and personal status (the question of the correspondence of the inner world of a person to the assumed social role); the relationship of social conditions of existence with education, upbringing, cultural and personal self-determination of a person. Nabokov disputes the idea of aristocrats as people who are afraid of hard physical work and divorced from real life. On the contrary, he contrasts the “short-sightedness” of materialist-raider Chernyshevsky, who knows neither life, nor art, nor native nature, with comprehensive enlightenment and adaptability to life in the most diverse conditions of the Godunov-Cherdyntsevs (grandfather Kirill Ilyich and Fedor in exile, father - in expeditions). Social well-being is interpreted by Nabokov not as a self-worthy good, but as a basis for the freedom of personal and cultural selfdetermination.
