Uvarova E.A. VERBAL AND ICONIC COMPONENT CORRELATION PECULIARITIES IN THE NEWS POLYCODE TEXT STRUCTURE (ON THE BASIS OF THE ENGLISH NEWS TEXTS OF THE PORTAL “THE ONION”) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2018. Issue 7 (196). P. 54-60

The article deals with the structure of a polycode text, which is a complex formation of semiotically heterogeneous components that are inextricably linked to each other. The peculiarities of their relationship make an urgent problem in modern linguistics due to the absence of a unified classification of sign systems represented in the text. In the articles published on the internet portal “THE ONION” verbal text is combined with iconic information blocks – photo and video materials, whose interaction leads to the formation of new meanings. The novelty of the study lies in the fact that the existing types of components correlation are thoroughly investigated and classified on the above stated material. As a result of the research three main types of correlation of iconic and verbal components are identified and their ratio is presented in the text of the article as a bar chart. Duplicating (split into partial repetition and complete repetition) and complimentary types of correlation are considered to be the most common that can be explained by the peculiarities of news texts: the iconic component usually repeats or backs up the verbal information block. The third type of their correlation demonstrates close integration of the verbal and iconic components whose relationship can be of two types – relations of correspondence and relations of opposition. The research proves that in the polycode news text the verbal component plays the leading role, while the iconic component serves as a visual aid.

It was studied effect of activation of M-opioid receptor (OR) on the tolerance of isolated perfused rat heart to global 45 min ischemia and 30 min reperfusion. In vivo pretpeatment with selective M-opioid receptor agonist DAMGO (0,1mg/kg intravenously) increased tolerance of isolated perfused rat heart to ischemia and reperfusion. This effect was completely abolished by pretreatment with the M-antagonist CTAP. Addition of DAMGO and DALDA to the perfusion solution in a final concentration of 170 nМ before ischemia had no cardioprotective effect. However, addition of DALDA to the perfusion solution in a final concentration of 33 nM also decreased creatine kinase levels in the coronary sinus effluent.

Dobrovolskaya T.G., Golovchenko A.V., Semenova T.A., Kukharenko O.S., Inisheva L.I. The influence of aeration on the structure of microbial complexes in fens // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2011. Issue 5 (107). P. 117-125

Microbial communities in virgin and reclaimed fens of Tomsk region were examined in the comparative study. Differences between these peat lands could be found only for a dry season. A number of fungi, evaluated with the plating method, and a share of hydrolytic bacteria were considerably higher in the reclaimed fen. It indicates to the intensification of destruction due to the implemented agricultural afforestation. The differences between fens smooth after long-term rains: fungal and actinomycetal mycelium is fragmentary found in soil layers, number and specific diversity of micromycetes decrease, hydrobionts dominate among bacteria. Thus, though examined fens are hydromorphic soils, weather conditions should be taken into account for soil sampling, because all the microbiologic indicators, which allow characterizing microbial communities of peat soils, sharply vary under the change of dry and moist periods.

Sysa E.A. READING STRATEGY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF DEVELOPMENT OF SKILLS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE READING ON THE BASIS OF INDEPENDENT EDUCATIONAL-COGNITIVE ACTIVITIES BY THE STUDENTS OF THE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 5 (182). P. 116-121

The purpose of the article is to define the reading strategy with the help of which the development of skills in foreign language reading on the basis of independent educational-cognitive activities of the the technical University students will be most effective. Therefore, it is proposed to classify reading strategies from the point of view of development of the relevant skills. The results of the study allow us to conclude, that teaching reading on the basis of independent educational-cognitive activity using reading strategies, determines the behavior in the learning process of both a teacher and a student: increases activity of a student, enhances educational, stimulating role of a teacher. Mastering the strategies has a significant influence on the formation of students’ abilities to independently acquire knowledge from different sources of information. The practical significance lies in the fact that the results can be used in teaching reading in different languages for teaching students of non-linguistic specialties. The classification of reading strategies will help the teacher in rational planning of the process of foreign language reading, organize learning strategies in the form of progression, according to the didactic principle of availability, move «from simple to complex», which contributes to the most efficient achieving the purpose of reading and learning a foreign language.

Methods of actualizing the regulative function of the precedent name are described on the textual material of the corpus of modern newspapers of the Russian National Corpus. Mythonyms which are prominent regulatory means of attracting the attention of the addressee were analysed in the article. Thus, contexts analysis of a newspaper corpus mythonyms Zeus, Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Prometheus showed that in case of realization of mythonyms only the nominative function its regulative potential might be due to the invariant perception of a precedent text that is stored in the cognitive basis of the addressee and which is determined by its presuppositions. The factors influencing the degree of precedent onym’s regulativity in newspaper journalism, for instance, the use of situation-based illustrative context, the appeal to the source, the use of figurative means and transformed statements have been defined. Situational contexts that direct the recipient to the mythological stories serve as the actualizing mean of the relevant background information, its presuppositions. Mythonym in such a context is a strong regulatory tool, as not only appeals to the cultural memory of the audience, but fills in gaps in the information thesaurus. It is established that the regulative potential of precedent onyms is due to the implementation of cultural, educational and operating functions of the newspaper.

Zavjalova O.S. ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN TEACHING OBJECTIVES AND TEACHING RESOURCES IN THE ELECTRONIC COURSE ON EXTENSIVE AND INTENSIVE READING FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 2 (199). P. 82-89

The article discusses one of the most urgent applied problems of language teaching: the creation of didactic materials of a new generation based on information and communication technologies (ICT) and the Internet. First of all, we consider the already existing experience in using ICT and the Internet in education in the USA and Western Europe, where the process to introduce digital technologies in education started much earlier than in Russia. The review of experience of introducing this kind of training materials into practice provides grounds for asserting that the use of ICT and Internet technologies in developing teaching materials creates new opportunities and also new (not yet fully studied) difficulties. It is shown that the means of presenting information (and, therefore, its format) impacts the nature of information processing, assimilation and retention: digital texts are much less fully and accurately comprehended by readers than texts in the traditional format (printed on paper). This is due to the psycho-physiological and psychological mechanisms of perception and comprehension of text information given on paper and on the monitor screen. Further, processing a digital text causes the reading activity itself to be transformed. Now the complete set of reading skills, needed for in-depth processing of information, independent text analysis, is not required. Finally, the norms of organization of texts posted on the Web are changing. “Traditional” texts (including classical scientific, literary texts), constructed according to other models, cannot be fully perceived and comprehended from the monitor screen. The above-mentioned difficulties in a number of cases (for example, when teaching extensive and intensive reading) become a serious obstacle to the realization of teaching objectives. Understanding the emerging problems allows us to formulate new methodological challenges a teacher faces when preparing e-learning courses on extensive and intensive reading for foreign students, and also to suggest some practical steps aimed at solving these problems.

Anikina Z.S., Isaeva Y.S. LIFELONG LEARNING AS A VITAL CONDITION OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE AMONG ACADEMICS // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 1 (178). P. 131-135

The artice discusses the role of lifelong learning for professional activity as a vital instrument providing both, current and perspective needs of labour market. Lifelong learning fulfills three main functions – professional, social and personal. One of the ways to deliver such kind of education is involving professional development programs, which can be delivered through in-service training in various formats (distant, face-to-face, autonomous learning). These programs can be arranged within various timescales with regard to government regulations and employer requirements. In addition, the staff participating in design, elaboration and implementation of these programs should meet the latest professional requirements in their area. It is suggested that professional competence among academics as people functioning like conductors between industrial sector and adult learners is of vital importance. For that reason, special attention is drawn to the programs for academics and doctoral training. As an illustrative example, the experience of participating in a PhD program at the University of Sheffield (UK) is described. This program is characterized as highly individualized, which leads to sufficient outcomes among learners. Along with that, the authors propose to borrow key aspects from Sheffield experience and adapt them for doctoral training in Russia. Finally, urgent problems in academics development are outlined, further steps and solutions are offered.

Stepanova A.S., Kuryanovich A.V. COMPLEX ANALYSIS OF LANGUAGE MEANS OF EXPRESSION OF EVALUATION IN CREATIVE DISCOURSE BY Z. GIPPIUS IN THE ASPECT OF IDIOSTILE (ON THE MATERIAL OF THE ARTICLE «ON THE FEMALE FIELD») // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 10 (187). P. 21-27

The article presents the experience of implementing a level-by-level linguistic analysis of the publicistic text - a polemical article by Z. N. Gippius “On the Women’s Field” – for the purpose of considering textual language tools and ways of expressing evaluation. The choice of the text is determined by a complex of factors: its belonging to the publicistic style, and therefore, the presence in the language structure of a pronounced evaluation, both subjective and social; the implementation in this text of the principles and trends in the selection and features of the functioning of evaluation language tools that are characteristic of the entire creative discourse of Z. Gippius, including those relating to the idiomolexicon and the idiostyle of the author in general. As a theoretical basis for the study, the thesis is advanced that appraisal as a linguisticistic category mediating the logical category of evaluation in the text largely determines the features of the linguistic picture of the author’s world, his idiomolexicon and idiostyle. It is noted that the evaluation in the works of Z. N. Gippius is realized by means of lexical, word-formation, morphological, syntactic levels of language and in their interaction. In the analyzed text, the evaluation is implemented at all language levels. The basis for the linguistic expression of evaluation is lexical units with evaluation semantics. For the text of Z. Gippius as an artistic and journalistic work, the following artistic techniques are used: metaphors, epithets, comparisons, etc. Syntactic means of expressing evaluation are represented by exclamation and interrogative sentences, plug-in constructions. At all language levels, the negative evaluation of objects predominates, which is a characteristic feature of idiostyle of Z. N. Gippius, due to the nature of the author’s worldview.

Shutova A.V. CONCEPTUAL ANALYSIS OF A LITERARY TEXT AS A BASIS FOR SHAPING A STUDENT’S TEXTUAL COMPETENCE // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 11 (188). P. 41-45

The main idea of the article is a statement that mastering the basics of conceptual analysis by high-school students enables them to acquire textual competence. Nowadays, there is no standard definition of the term ‘concept’; there are several methods of conceptual analysis. A concept is something versatile. In various fields of studies, researchers draw special attention to one or another aspect of the concept. The article presents a review of some methods of carrying-out a conceptual analysis of a text and of a word generally accepted both in cognitive linguistics and cognitive poetics and in the Russian language teaching methods. The author proposes an improved version of conceptual analysis worked out in accordance with communicative stylistics of the text. This version is adapted to the practical issues of shaping text competences of students at school. This method is illustrated by the example of the concept ‘death’ verbalized in the poem of O. E. Mandelstam. Such kind of work should be given as part of an elective course taking into account that this kind of activity is not included in the curriculum. The course of work is controlled by the teacher because the students need a teacher to explain scientific terms to them, as well as to help them with step-by-step performance of the exercise. It is important to use diverse dictionaries (definition dictionaries, etymological dictionaries, dictionaries of synonyms, of antonyms and others). The goal at this stage is to find necessary dictionary entries and to analyze them to discover coincidences / distinctions in semantics and actual meaning of the key units that actualize the principal attributes of the concept and are reflected in the vocabulary and in the poem of the poet. Equally important is the final stage of the work which is to generalize and to formulate the author’s own opinion on the content of the concept. The article may be interesting for the students of pedagogical universities and the Russian language teachers.
