Phytonims of Russian, English and Czech are examined in motivological and comparative aspect in order to define specific character of two sides of their semantics. The object of the research is an inside word form of metaphor character. Motivological level of language research is a favourable ground for analysis of national specific of language because the nature of motivated word itself is mainly connected with language conscience of speakers. Names of plants are directly connected with object and cognitive speakers’ activity and also with social and cultural originality of language community’s life and its ethnographic peculiarities. The idea of different ways of environment’s representation by means of two-sided semantics of lexical units in language consciousness is the thesis of the article. If the Russian language consciousness is anthropocentric, then The English one and the Czech are anthropometrical.

Varfolomeeva Y.N. FEATURES OF FUNCTIONING OF VERB PREDICATES IN DESCRIPTION-PORTRAIT // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 11 (188). P. 31-35

The main idea of the article is to analyze the features of the functioning of verb predicates in description-portrait. There are 11 lexical-semantic groups (LSG) of non-active verb predicates verbalized the visual modality with meaning of 1. placement in space, 2. position predicates, 3. with semantic of the form of the object, 4. space borders predicates, 5. coverage of the subject, 6. spatial ratio of objects, 7. filling of space, 8. characteristic of the flat surface of the object, 9. direction in space, 10. location in space, 11. isolation based on light / color characteristics of the object. Description-portrait imposes certain restrictions on the use of non-active verb predicates of 11 LSG and predicates with intermodal meaning. The verb predicates that characterize the form of the object are the most frequent in the description-portrait. The predicates with semantics of placement in space, of the space filling and direction in space, as well as tactile and taste intermodal predicates are not productive in this thematic variety of description. Active verb predicates function in the context of a description-portrait with an invariant meaning of existence. As well as nonactive predicates, they are able to verbalize the spatial characteristics of description objects.

Davydova O.I. ACTUALIZATION OF THE CONTENT OF THE CULTURAL GAME PRACTICE OF A PRESCHOOL CHILD // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 8 (205). P. 7-13

Introduction. The definition of the concept of “cultural gaming practice” is given as “a diverse, based on the current and future interests of the child type of independent activity and behavior”. It substantiates why in cultural practice a child becomes a full-fledged subject of activity, interaction and communication. The parameters of the optimal “inviting” game space created and provided by adults are highlighted. Material and methods. The differences of the “child’s world” in the game from the “real” world of adults are considered, the analysis of the information that the child receives and learns in the game, the classification of information sources is carried out. The degree of relevance of the information depends on who is the source of the information, what role they play for the child, what their status is. Examines the dependence of information on the place of “action8 of the game, the age of the participants, the degree of their “trust” in the other, the “friendliness” in the game team, as well as on what age stage of preschool childhood the child receives and masters this information. The influence of this information on the content and rating of children’s game is determined. The definition of a quest as a type of plot is given. Results and discussion. The results of a survey of social network participants and regular quest players among the population of the Siberian Federal district for confirmation or refutation of the relevance of the creation and implementation of quest games on the plot of Russian folk tales are presented. It was determined that at present a new playing space is being formed that allows preschool children to learn and play in fundamentally new forms for them, such as quest games, plots of favorite fairy tales. The concept of “life practices” is introduced, which are divided into conditionally positive and conditionally negative cultural practices. Conclusion. Adults are responsible for the content of the child’s play. The study allows to determine the advantages of the game as a way of entering the culture, which fully corresponds to the age-related capabilities of preschool children, meets the need of children in “life practices”, creating and influencing the formation of the basis of personal culture of the child.

Yarkova T.A., Cherkasova I.I., Zhdanova T.N. PROFESSIONAL CHOICE OF MODERN SCHOOL STUDENTS AS A PSYCHOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL PROBLEM // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2021. Issue 5 (217). P. 98-104

Introduction. The problem of professional choice in a situation of uncertainty raises the importance of scientific understanding and finding practical solutions to support school graduates in the process of professional self-determination. This is particularly an issue for rural school graduates. The problem was addressed in domestic and foreign Pedagogy and Psychology at different times in history. The attitude towards the problem of professional choice is changing. Whereas it was more often considered in the context of professional self-determination, it is now the subject of independent research. The purpose of the article is to reveal the features of the professional choice by rural school students in the changing ideas about the essence of professional choice as a psychological and pedagogical problem. Material and methods. The empirical base of the study is represented by 15–18 years old school students and the middle-aged population of rural settlements in the north and south of the Tyumen region. The survey was attended by 200 people. The content of the questions is aimed at evaluation of the confidence and validity of the professional choice and general awareness in various aspects of the attractiveness of traditional and modern occupations. Basic methods: analysis, synthesis, generalization, questioning. Results and discussion. The authors examine professional choices in different contexts. The first context reflects the needs of society and the state in the professional development of an individual in a knowledge economy. The second context shows the need for a theoretical and methodological justification of the development of the content and scope of the concept of “professional choice”, its factors and mechanisms. The third context characterizes the peculiarities and problems of choosing a profession by rural school students. Conclusion. The results showed that, in general, there is a lack of maturity among school students in choosing a profession and understanding its importance in life values realization. The position of the parents is aimed at supporting children in their independent choice. The professional choice depends on the regional specificities, demand for occupations in a given territory, personal preferences, and the occupational prestige. Shepetovskiy D.V. THEATER AND THEATRICALITY IN NINA BERBEROVA’S SHORT STORIES OF 1930–40S // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2017. Issue 11 (188). P. 154-160

The paper analyzes Nina Berberova’s narrative experimentations in her short stories written in 1930s. They are connected with theatricality used both as a method of characters’self-reflection and as a mode to represent the émigré reality on behalf of the author. Berberova’s interest to theatricality started with extended attention to means to represent dialogical character of communication without dominating narrator. Her work on Madame (staged in 1938) influenced narrative structure of some of her prosaic texts as well. Several ideas find their way into the text in connection with theater and theatricality as a quality of reality. One of them is lack of independence on behalf of an actor; the other is interference between the actor and their part in a play. Depiction of theatricality is not static and its function develops from oppressing a character and forcing him out of life for non-conformance, through theater as an asylum from perils of life, to a global power, which is while alien, is not antagonistic but indifferent to human endeavors. Aesthetic principle serves as uniting the reality and the author hails its understanding as an important distinction of a character. Characters of latter stories are trying to enjoy the spectacle instead of rebelling against it. Putting aesthetic in the center of the world pushes Berberova from her earlier associations with writers in the style of human document closer to Vladimir Nabokov.

Toktarova V.I., Fedorova S.N. REFOCUSING THE MATHEMATICAL TRAINING PROCESS OF THE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS FROM “TEACHING MATHS” TO “TEACHING BY MATHS” // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2019. Issue 8 (205). P. 77-83

Introduction. In rapid computerization and mathematization of almost all areas of knowledge the mathematical training of students at a higher education institution must be of an anticipatory nature and be aimed at obtaining results that will be in demand in a technologized society. Modern society requires the individual skills of self-organization, self-development, self-regulation, self-control, self-education, etc. These tasks can be successfully solved in the process of mathematical training of students with the competent organization of the educational process. Material and methods. The basis for the substantiation and implementation of the principle of refocusing the mathematical training process of the university students from “teaching maths” to “teaching by maths” was based on the methods of theoretical and empirical research. Results and discussion. The main tasks of high-quality mathematical education of students, which a modern university is facing today, are considered. Mathematics is characterized as a science and a body of knowledge; a language of research and modeling for solving problems in various fields of knowledge; a system of organization of thinking. The object, subject, methods and properties of mathematics are highlighted. The fundamental functions of students’ mathematical training are revealed: teaching mathematics – involving mastering the system of mathematical knowledge and skills, the formation of mathematical competence; teaching by mathematics – aimed at the intellectual development of students, formation of logical thinking, development of mathematical literacy, etc. The implementation of the principle “learning by mathematics” in the electronic educational environment is characterized through the integration of the content of mathematical courses with specialized disciplines; the choice of the type and method of presentation of educational material not only for carrying out calculations, but for visualizing abstract mathematical concepts and knowledge; differentiation and personification of teaching mathematics through the using non-linear methods and various types of presentation depending on the psycho-physiological characteristics, cognitive styles of students, professional area, including taking into account health features (persons with disabilities). Conclusion. The results of the study showed that refocusing the mathematical training process of the university students from “teaching maths” to “teaching by maths” through the organization of training within electronic educational environment allows students to assimilate the system of mathematical knowledge and skills, actively apply the methods of mathematical research; quickly adapt to the changing conditions of modern society and production, acquiring the necessary competencies for professional activities in the process of solving various applied problems.

Murzina S.V. Dostoyevsky’s socialism: the form of the state organization or brother unity (by the material of the writer’s publicity and epistolary of the 1860–1880) // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2023. Issue 4 (228). P. 127-135

Socialism is one of the key ideas that make up the socio-historical, philosophical and moral worldview of F. M. Dostoevsky in the 1860s – 1880s. The problem of “Dostoevsky and socialism” was posed by researchers already at the beginning of the 20th century, literary critics and philosophers noted the special attitude of the thinker to this system of society. As part of the study of Dostoevsky’s geopolitical ideas about Europe in the 1860s – 1881. it seems necessary and logical to study the problem of socialism in journalistic texts and letters of the thinker. The purpose of the article is to study and reconstruct the position of Dostoevsky in relation to socialism in the 1860s – 1881s. The material of the study was journalistic texts, notes, unfinished articles, letters from Dostoevsky in 1860–1881. The empirical base of the study was formed using the method of continuous sampling of the concept of “socialism”. The study uses biographical, cultural-historical, imagological methods. As part of the study, all available texts of the period under study, including the concept of “socialism”, were considered. As a result, it was revealed that in the 1860s – 1881 the problem of socialism was very relevant for Dostoevsky. The thinker discusses both European and Russian socialism, but first of all it is more important for him to understand the essence of socialism. European socialism, based on laws, requirements and science, according to Dostoevsky, leads to the destruction of the West. The writer formulates his understanding of socialism, contrasts the artificial construction of society (European or Western socialism) with love, morality, brotherhood (Russian socialism). The peculiarity of Dostoevsky’s socialist ideas is their identification with equality and social justice under the leadership of boundless sincere faith in the teachings of Christ. Since the 1860s Dostoevsky reflects on socialism and contrasts two definitions of this concept: the form of government and fraternal unity based on the moral feelings of society. Based on these definitions of socialism, he contrasts European (Western) socialism and Russian socialism. The writer was convinced of the possibility of implementing socialist theory to create a just social order, he believed that this could be achieved without revolutions, but thanks to the internal change of man and society. The chronological reconstruction of the writer’s position towards the socialism of the period under study helps to reveal the dynamics of changes in Dostoevsky’s views in this regard. Reflecting on socialism in Europe and Russia, the thinker turns to the problems of science, education, youth, writes about the activities of European leaders, the development of European states. Socialism turns out to be the connecting link of many questions that concern the thinker.

Ivanova I.G., Egoshina R.A. Teaching normative French pronunciation as an important component of mastering oral speech skills // Tomsk State Pedagogical University Bulletin. 2024. Issue 6 (236). P. 112-122

The article is devoted to the role of pronunciation in teaching French. Attention is focused on prosodic factors that play an important role in the process of understanding a statement. Decoding of verbal communication takes place at the intellectual, linguistic, emotional and relational levels. The interlocutors perceive not only individual words, but also the tone of the utterance. Intonationally transmitted information allows you to understand the deep meaning of the utterance and its components. The purpose of the study is to determine the place of the phonetic component in the methodology of teaching a foreign language. The following research methods are used in the work: analysis of pedagogical, methodological, linguistic literature and the work experience of Russian and foreign phonetists; the method of scientific description; synthesis and generalization of their own practice of teaching French at the university. Many modern researchers in the field of foreign language teaching methods are supporters of communicative learning, leading to a new perception of the role of pronunciation, and awareness of the importance of intonation parameters of speech. The effectiveness of teaching the French language is increased with the use of special exercises for practicing prosodic phenomena, in which the phonosemantic approach appeals to sound matter and contributes to the formation of foreign language pronunciation skills. The result is the development of exercises based on the analysis of traditional and modern didactic principles. It is proposed to practice pronunciation skills in order to correct oral speech according to the following parameters: intonation and rhythm, intensity of articulation, phonetic environment. The effectiveness of training at the segment level increases with the use of exercises based on the principle of “from simple to complex”. The suprasegmental level, which implies normative stress, correct melody, rhythm, and pauses, also plays a significant role in mastering the articulation base of the language being studied. Only the complex perception of the above phonetic phenomena leads to the assimilation of the articulatory base of a foreign language. Thus, students need to master phonetic and phonological skills, since their insufficient formation will have negative consequences for the entire language learning process.
