The article is focused on precedent phenomena as sign and verbally presented units that carry information about national features and create national culture code which can be understood only with the deep knowledge of traditional British culture. The article is based on the precedent phenomena in the headlines of news, editorials and analytical articles published in such quality press newspapers as The Telegraph and The Guardian. The main source-spheres of the precedent phenomena are singled out in the article because they serve as a nationally marked coordinate system which is reflected in the language of mass media discourse. The article concludes that the main source-spheres of precedent phenomena in the headlines are political, social and cultural spheres that give information about history and contemporary life of British nation.

The impact function of the mass media causes the use of expressive means of language; the main of them is a metaphor. At the same time the impact of metaphor seems a rather complex phenomenon, so the study of its functions does not cease to be relevant. A wide range of functions of the metaphor and their hierarchy are considered in the context of the newspaper sport discourse on the example of the sports report genre. The analysis is illustrated by vivid examples from the Russian and German press; it shows that this figure of speech is the most important means of pragmatic impact in the sports discourse and in the written sports report, in particular. Consequently, the pragmatics has a target status in the hierarchy of functions. Expressiveness and evaluativity are considered as the most important functions. Moreover, the metaphor has a decorative, attractiveness, game, hyperbole, compression, conspire, encoding, and mnemonic functions that are rarely traced in the text of their own and rather provide a comprehensive impact on the reader. At the same time, the metaphor can perform almost the opposite tasks: mnemonic and conspiracy functions. Consequently, the functional properties of metaphors are in the relationship of interdependence and mutual reinforcement.

In spite of the fact that the importance and need for teaching technologies in the educational process (at all levels) is clearly recognized, the precise and universal classifications of teaching technologies (regardless of the subject area) are currently nonexistent. There is a vast variety of names and types of teaching technologies, including numerous authors’ technologies, developed by both creative and professional communities and individual teachers. One may observe lack of system, scientific basis and unified approaches to the classifications of pedagogical, educational and teaching technologies. The author justifies the specifics and the necessity to consider the instrumentality principle in the process of classification of foreign languages teaching technologies, and states the main tools of foreign languages teaching technologies. The principle of instrumentality as the primary basis for the classification of teaching technologies requires to take tools (basis) of the subject teaching into account. The classification of foreign languages teaching technologies may include mono-tool (poly-target), poly-tool (mono-target) and tool-target teaching technologies. Each type of teaching technologies is illustrated by the scheme of implementation model. The third type of teaching technologies (tool-target) is the most accurately and exactly formulated and effectively implemented type. Patriarch Nikon’s statute-will. The paper is dedicated to the study of patriarch Nikon’s manuscript having been unknown earlier – his last will to the brotherhood of the Resurrection monastery of New-Jerusalem. The work is known in one manuscript copy. The sources are Joseph Volotsky’s last will and two litle-known literary texts of the church literature, which were used in Russian manuscript tradition of the XVII-th century. The analysis of the sources has allowed us to determine the genre of literature as the statute-will of the monastery’s founder; to define the time of literary text’s writing as the first half of 1660s; to show its special place in the cotext of the ancien Russian literature.

The purpose of the paper is to highlight the main features of the category of distribution in time and determine the basis for typological analysis of the selected Ket verbal derivational categories. On the one hand, the main semantic features of the Ket category of distribution in time are considered, on the other hand the attention is paid to the means of the description of these features. The analysis presented in the paper shows that the main feature of the semantic category of the verbal quantity is the split into two derivational patterns. The first pattern ‘iterative’ includes the opposition of multiplex and full-cycle verbs, the second pattern ‘semelfactive’ involves only one semantic class of verbs (sound production verbs), moreover it is based on the oppositions within two cognitive categories plexity and state of boundedness.

This article deals with the automation of activities of Tomsk State Pedagogical University (TSPU). A review of the information systems developed and implemented in different departments at TSPU is conducted, including describing the information systems implemented in the research and development department, the editorial offices of scientific journals, the office of admissions, the document control center, and the department of student affairs. Basic information flows between the automated systems are described, and interfaces of their interactions are analyzed. The introduction of innovations in the University management system on the basis of modern information technologies is one of the most promising approaches, which will allow us to create advantages in today’s highly competitive educational environment. On the basis of the analysis performed, the main directions of activities for technical services and laboratories on the perfection and complex completion of the University’s information systems are revealed with the purpose of their further integration. Actual problems in the field of applying information technologies in the information systems of the University and ways to solve them are considered, as well as the directions for future work of the Institute of Applied Informatics are outlined.

The article considers intercultural interaction as the order of modern communities, and the goal of the professional educational space - to develop highly efficient tools and techniques that contribute to their development - is relevant and in demand. The role of the foreign language as a means of intercultural communication is undeniable. But it is not sufficient to have just speaking skills on household topics in foreign language for successful communication on professional issues. The key point in the preparation of a professional is the formation of vocabulary system in a certain area in the target language. The article covers the widespread ways of automating the development and use of terminological dictionaries in future engineers foreign language teaching. Creating automated electronic dictionaries and terminology data banks allows you to receive the necessary information about the terms and concepts referred to them with the help of computers, in other words certain specific areas or activities are displayed in a systematic form that helps extracting accurate and adequate information from comprehension of the actual information through the reading of original texts in the professional field. The analysis of literature on the creation of educational terminological dictionaries has identified features which could have pedagogical value in the future engineers foreign language teaching, for example, dictionary creator’s collective activity, the aim and the result (training trilingual glossary of terms), and it can be used as a means of students’ reading skills verification.

The paper treats the problems of development of such teacher’s quality as competence. The situations which help to identify a competent math teacher are described. Only highly efficient teachers took part in the experiment: teachers, who have won Soros stipend; teachers engaged in intellect-consuming models of teaching; teachers with the highest level of qualification; teachers, engaged in research activity and the like. The experiment showed that an open cognitive position is the leading feature of a competent math teacher who works on the basis of psychologically oriented models of education. The article describes how the integrated health-improving aerobics exercise programme based on the body ballet technique may increase physical and theoretical fitness, boost motivation of technical university students.
