| 1203 | Introduction. The amateurish text is a notable phenomenon of modern mass (not elitist) speech culture. Factors that ensure the promotion of this type of text in the media include the priority of the hedonistic function to the detriment of the cognitive, as well as the interest of society in the public figure, which the media institute provides an opportunity to speak on issues not related to education and profession. The aim of the article is to study the perception of an amateurish text (its content and form) by different groups of recipients. The research issues are aimed at identifying the heterogeneity of mass speech culture by comparing the estimated positions of different recipients of the same text. Material and methods. As an example of amateurish text, the text of the chief editor of a glossy magazine is used, which emphasizes distance from specialists in the field of knowledge (philology) that he discusses. Based on the semantic- stylistic method, speech material obtained in a psycholinguistic experiment, that is, secondary reaction texts, is analyzed. Recipients are divided into three groups: non-specialists from 18 to 44 years old; non-specialists from 50 to 62 years old; students studying in the direction of “Philology”. Results and discussion. It is established that the text broadcasts relatively reliable information (scientific and semiscientific knowledge, a linguistic myth), contains factual errors. An experimental study of evaluative reactions to the text shows that the information transmitted by the text is uncritically accepted by a significant part of the recipients. Non-specialists regard the amateur as a social type depending on age: young participants in the experiment are more loyal to him than senior group recipients. Students who have mastered the problem under discussion in theory and practice speak out sharply negatively about amateur judgments. Assessment of the speech features of the text correlate with the assessment of content. The younger group approves of the humor, accessibility, “ease” with which the information is presented; the senior group notes in the text speech aggression, violation of ethical standards. Philologists in their assessments of the author’s speech style are closer to the older group, that is, more conservative than their peers. Conclusion. Evaluative reactions to one of the varieties of modern mass culture – the amateurish text – allow us to talk about the heterogeneity of this culture, namely the existence of an older and younger communicative norm. The positions of the younger norm in mass speech culture are stronger. This conclusion is based on the fact that the speech features of the source text, which received approval from the younger group recipients, and disapproval of the senior recipients, are considered in modern style as the most striking features of the press as a whole. | 1211 | Introduction. Terminology of IT-sphere is one of the most dynamically developing term systems. It is mainly explained by rapid technological progress in this sphere that encourages new nominations and clarification of the already existing terms. It is noteworthy that traditional one-component terms fail to meet the demands of the nomination process, as they are not able to reflect the complexity of new technical phenomena. As a result, multicomponent terms being capable of clear nominations start to numerously appear in computer terminology. At the same time, the structure and complicated meaning of multicomponent terms raise certain problems with their translation to other languages concerning the use of a variety of transformations. The aim of the research is to reveal the ways of translation of multicomponent terms belonging to IT-sphere from English into Russian taking into consideration their structural and semantic characteristics. Material and methods. The material of the research includes 500 English multicomponent terms of IT-sphere and 500 their Russian equivalents taken from the computer terms dictionary by I. V. Baratov through the method of continuous sampling. The study also uses the method of structural-semantic and translational analysis. Results and discussion. Multi-component terms in the field of information technology can be divided into three groups depending on the number of components, determined by the number of elements expressed by meaningful parts of speech: three-, four- and five-component terms. Three-component terms are the most numerous group, which is due to the desire of any language to save, only two five-component terms were found, so it is not possible to talk about the patterns of their translation. While studying the ways of translation of 3-component terms it was noted that the translator always tends to preserve the structure and meaning of the original term using calquing of the whole multicomponent term or some of its elements (44 % of cases). At the same time due to the typological differences between the English and Russian languages the translator has to resort to grammar transformations in the Russian language such as changing the order of the components, using cases and prepositions, changing parts of speech. As for the lexical transformations apart from calquing the translator uses lexical addition in case of necessary clarification of term components or description when the phenomenon denoted by the term does not exist in the Russian language. In 13 % of cases the translator resorts to equivalent when the Russian language has a shorter but capacious term expressing the same meaning as the multicomponent English term. In translation of 3-component terms in at least 13 % of cases the translator manages to preserve the structure of the original English term changing only the parts of speech of some components in case of 4-component and 5-component terms inversion or changing of the general order of the components turns out to be the key transformation. Among lexical transformations calquing of certain components, lexical addition, equivalent translation and description are used. Conclusion. The analysis of the ways of translation of multicomponent terms of IT-sphere from English into Russian revealed the dependence of grammar transformations on the typological characteristics of the languages. For example, English collocations are marked by regressive structure and post-position of the main word with an adjointment as the typical type of syntactic connection, while in the Russian language the collocations are built according to progressive structure with the preposition of the main word and government as a syntactic connection. As a result, the transformations while translating multicomponent terms from English into Russian manly include a change in the order of components, the use of cases and prepositions, and a change in parts of speech. Even in a small number of 3-component terms, it is possible to preserve the original structure of the term by replacing the parts of speech of the dependent word (a noun with an adjective) to form a collocation with an agreement as a type of syntactic connection. As for lexical transformations, among them the most commonly used are calque of one or all components of a phrase, clarification, transliteration (mainly one or two components), lexical addition and description as a lexico-grammatical transformation. It is necessary to note that due to the complexity of the structure and meaning of the multicomponent terms their adequate translation is only possible using a set of ways and methods of translation. | 1229 | The paper deals with the header structures of political articles, which include euphemisms and are taken from contemporary French newspapers. Considering the tense political situation in the world, euphemistic titles in the articles on political topics become increasingly relevant. They provide a smoothing effect of the emotional impact on the political discourse. Mass media titles and headers serve to partially reveal the text’s information and make a certain impact on the reader. Euphemism is considered as a word used for the sake of decency and discretion, to avoid mentioning unpleasant or shocking reality. As used in the press language, euphemisms render negative referents in terms of information. Their task is to modify the situation through a process of denomination and alleviative processing. Headers of political articles are classified by the type of negative revaluation of referents: understatement, axiological neutralization, improvement. Understatement in the French-language journalism is often implemented through euphemisms formed by meiosis, because they contain inherently weak negative denotation. Axiological neutralization contributes to veiling the true situation. Titles of articles are included in the policy framework shaped euphemistic statements, which make reality less dramatic, and are an essential component of the text itself. They embody a certain judgment about the current political situation. Authors neutralize the negative characteristics contained in the original concept, causing less dramatic reality that promotes the manipulation of mass consciousness. When using the improvement technique, negative formulation gives way to a more positive. Thus, the euphemisms substitute for unwanted words or expressions, which could cause a backlash in a particular situation, for the ones with a neutral connotation. | 1245 | Introduction. The study of different aspects of cognitive activity and its reflection in various types of texts is a topical problem of cognitive linguistics and communicative theory of the text including communicative stylistics. Therein a research of associative author’s activity and addressee of a text is of great interest, particularly an analysis of associative field of poetic text in cognitive aspect in the network of regulative theory and theory of textual associations, which are elaborated in communicative stylistics of text. The aim of the article is the detection of important for the text interpretation regularities of cognitive activity of collective addressee (reader) on the basis of reactions to poetic text-stimulus and modelling of its associative field. Material and Methods of research. In concordance with the methodological base of communicative stylistics of the text for researching of textual associations, we used data of associative lexicography, results of the free associative experiment for the text perception, modelling of the text associative field on the basis of the collected data, the subsequent comparative analysis, examination of the lexical text structure and key words in image prospective of a whole verse as well as introspection method. Results. The research was done on the data of the associative experiment according to readers’ perception of a verse by M. Tsvetaeva “Сountry”. The connection of text-induced associations with its lexical structure and keywords updated by the author is substantiated in the article. The dependence of associative development of poetic text on its regulative potential and inductive lexical structure of contrast type were determined. Typical and individual readers’ associations with the text were revealed, invariant character of association ways, its conditionality by structure, semantics and pragmatics were determined. The typical ways of associations are the following: reactions that reflect emotional tone of the text, its idea and thematic originality, key words, which became actual in the text by the author, author’s elements of text lexical structure, that are commented by precise definitions, additions and abstracts. We found out reactions, which reflect visual and sound world picture as well as stimulated by emotional tone of textstimulus; reactions, which were conditioned by text theme and author’s elements of textual lexical paradigms in the text structure; reactions of cultural character, that reflect individual thesaurus of readers. All these reactions were identified among not common associations along with single not interpreted linguistically. Generality and differences of certain reactions and ways of associating in textual associative field of the verse “Сountry” by M. Tsvetaeva with main ways of associating with key word country in “The Russian Associative Dictionary” were defined. Conclusion. The proposed approach to the research of cognitive (interpretative) reader’s activity of poetic text showed that collective associative field of the text, which reflects its regulative potential and formal and semantic structure, revealed in independent associative experiment, allowed making a conclusion about some cognitive activity peculiarities of informants – subjects of text-stimulus perception. | 1246 | Introduction. Social networks are currently a platform not only for interpersonal, but also for professional communication. Due to the importance of the communicative aspect for medical activity, doctors support this trend. Thus, the implementation of the doctor’s self-presentation strategy in the social network requires scientific justification. Aim and objectives. The purpose of the research is to identify and analyze the communicative tactics and verbal means of implementing the doctor’s self-presentation strategy in the social network. Material and methods. The research material was the doctor’s media texts of the social network Instagram, created in the genre of network media post-presentation. The reason for choosing the material is the popularity of using the social network for personal and institutional communication on the Internet. The methodological basis of the research is the discursive and communicative-pragmatic approaches to the analysis of the text. Results and discussion. A post on a social network is a communicative event and has three levels of analysis: text, discursive practice, and social practice. The communicative interaction of a doctor and a “mass patient” is formed under the influence of media discourse into an independent discursive practice – medical blogging. Medical communication in the process of public functioning on the Internet reveals the features of mass media, marketing and personalityoriented discourses. The communicative-pragmatic analysis of media texts allowed us to reveal communicative tactics of label communication, communication of information about education, appeals to the profession through images of “I am a doctor” and “I am an expert in the field of medicine”, transfer of subjective information, actualization of devotion to the profession, accentuation of negative information, and ability to overcome difficulties. The linguistic analysis demonstrated the use of typical language means, characteristic of Internet communication. Conclusion. Analysis of the communicative tactics of the doctor’s self-presentation strategy allows us to conclude that the media text of the Instagram social network has a high potential in creating an attractive image of a representative of the medical community. The status of a medical blogger allows a doctor to use communicative tactics of media communication to form a positive professional image in the knowledge of a mass audience. | 1247 | The study is carried out within the framework of functional grammar and is aimed at studying Russian comparative-assimilative adverbs of military themes. The aim of the work is to conduct a comprehensive study of the functioning of comparative-assimilative adverbs of military themes taking into account explicit and implicit semantic features, to determine the composition of this thematic group and to identify word-formation features and types of combinability. The research is based on the works of Russian linguists treating comparative adverbs from different points of view and applying different scientific approaches, as well as on the works of linguists studying lexical-semantic groups of words of the “war” thematic group. The illustrative material was taken from statements from the National Corpus of the Russian language and from a free selection from the Internet. The work was carried out within the framework of A.V. Bondarko’s theory of categorical situations of functional grammar, and elements of contextual and component analysis were also applied. During the research, the composition of this group of adverbs was distributed into semantic subgroups describing the behaviour of persons belonging to different types and divisions of troops, conditions of military service, military ranks and positions. In dividing into word-formation types, a special type with a qualitative-substantive connotation was distinguished, with the meaning of places of location and dislocation of military operations. The division of military adverbs into compatibility types was carried out taking into account the connective, adversative, qualifying and explanatory relations with the main word and as the result both general (according to appearance and speech, character and behaviour, situation and living conditions) and individual semes were identified. As a result of the study, it was found that to represent the behaviour of persons, objects and phenomena of military subjects, comparative-suggestive adverbs actualize in the minds of native speakers either a well-known image in the form of background knowledge, or one of the nuclear or peripheral features.
