| 2553 | Complex structure of the genre of Erdman’s play “Suicide” is analyzed in the context of the classical examples of the tragedy with suicide. Traditional motives of suicide in Western drama are fault redemption, a desperate situation, honor, love, search for death as a form of “hidden suicides”. Russian Drama of the 19th century transfers motive of suicide from tragedy to a tragic farce or to “a comedy with suicide” by entering the motives “shammer of dead” and “unmotivated” suicide, which complicates the genre and distorts the mechanism of genre expectations. Reduction of the classical models and their rethinking take place in “Suicide” by Erdman, who created a rare genre – parody to tragedy. Content and presentation of teaching material promotes the formation of students’ positive motivation forearning. Positive students’ motivation is created by the variety in the objective educational process through the use of different types of games from business role-plays to simulation. The article presents the results of introduction and adaptation of interactive associative board games into educational process when studying ecological disciplines on the example of the Federal State Educational Institutions of Higher Education “Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University”. With the help of associations it is possible not only to remember the information with the first attempt, but also to keep it in the long-term memory. The proposed variant of the game is built on the basis of the most successful ideas of the famous computer and board games with the addition of some new, original teaching materials. Application of this approach to training significantly stimulated assimilation of a training material, especially the glossary on the set subject. The proven effectiveness of the use of associateive games expressed in the increase of educational motivation of students and consequently in the quality of education. It is revealed through the diagnosis of learning motivation of 125 students of Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University that the communicative motives took the first place 66.9%, the second place 62.7 % - educational and informative ones. Adaptation of the proposed method in the training contributed to the formation of such qualities in students as independence and communication in making and justifying the decisions. Based on the substantiation of the relevance of the search for ne w tools and technologies for the organization of independent activities of students, the problem of building a modern methodology for its organization in the system of professional training is highlighted. Aim and objectives. Building a methodology for organizing independent activities of students in the modern educational paradigm for the vocational training system. Material and methods. A clarification of the conceptual apparatus has been proposed: independent work is understood as a set of independent target activities, each o f which is composed of a system (base) of actions. At the same time, the ability of independent work in the process of learning is understood as the ability of the learner to perform (rep roduce) the construction of a system of independent activities and to carry out the actions included in these activities for the reliable achie vement of the set educational goal. The characteristic features of independent work in the vocational education system are highlighted on the basis of analysis and comparison of the totality of the used independent actions and the structure of the system of independent activity when performing independent work. Results and discussion. The characteristic features of independent work in the modern educational paradigm are: 1) individualization, which will manifest itself and be recorded in the set of available actions used by the student, constituting independent activity, and feature s of the structure of independent work as a system of independent activities, 2) the need to ensure corporate professional communication. It is proposed to use the interaction of cloud personal educational environment of a teacher and personal learning environments of students as the main means of forming the skills of independent work and the formation of the information field of independent activities. Taking into account the formulated provisions, a structural-functional model of the organization of students’ independent work using cloud technologies has been developed. Conclusion. From the standpoint of the proposed methodology in the implementation of the competence approach for building a methodology for independent work, the levels of ability for independent work are proposed to be determined as follows: the level of knowledge of actions; the level of ability to perform actions; the level of knowledge of activities with the actions that make up the independent work; the level of implementa tion of activities with actions constituting the independent work (including the design and modeling of the system of activities). | 2570 | The article deals with the questions of verbal and nonverbal structure of electronic hypertext fiction. The author pays special attention to the history of electronic hypertext fiction and the factors of its occurring. The article also provides the analysis of two electronic hypertext poems, which represent totally different stages in electronic hypertext fiction timeline. The novelty of the research is seen in the attempt to analyze and identify electronic fiction hypertexts, which were worked out and published on the basis of two different platforms (software for hypertext fiction Storyspace Eastgate System and Scalar platform). The research urgency is caused by the complex analysis of different types of electronic hypertext fiction. The analysis is based on review of hypertext lexical and stylistic peculiarities and the main aspects of figurativeness in electronic environment. The article gives an overview of electronic hypertext fiction represented by the works “Penetration” by R. Kendall and “Redshift and Portalmetal” by M. Cardenas. “Penetration” by R. Kendall depicts the inner world of two main characters, a father and a daughter. “Penetration” is based on the Connection Systems, which brings advanced hypertext features to Web stories and poems. “Penetration” contains links and text elements that are displayed conditionally or randomly. “Redshift and Portalmetal” by M. Cardenas depicts the story of Roja, whose planet’s environment is dying that is why she had to travel to other worlds. The project has the form of electronic interactive hypertext fiction including film performance and poetry. The author uses the Scalar platform to create a compelling science fiction narrative about the coming end of the world. Electronic hypertext fiction is one of the most productive and effective forms of electronic fiction because of its open structure. | 2571 | The article deals with the problem of the specific character of the translator’s knowledge of language and culture. A review of the relevant literature has shown that translation is a unique mode of language use which is significantly different from ordinary communication in a foreign language. The author introduces the concept of “problem awareness” as one of the key characteristics of the translator’s lingua-cultural knowledge. Problem awareness is essential in translation which involves switching between languages. It is understood as the awareness of the linguistic factors causing breakdowns in code-switching in translation, as well as the ability to deal with such problems. These linguistic factors include idioms and proverbs/sayings, translator’s false friends, culture-specific concepts, geographical names and confusing words similar in form, meaning or use. Each linguistic factor is described and its ability to interfere with the process of code-switching is explained. Based on these facts a list of relevant skills and psychological characteristics is presented for each group of linguistic means. The author then provides guidelines for ensuring a targeted approach to the teaching of the above-mentioned linguistic means. These recommendations also include a description of the types of activities which are especially relevant in the context of teaching foreign languages to trainee translators. | 2572 | The paper focuses on national and cultural peculiarities of indirect euphemistic expressions in American English. The author suggests that euphemism is a strategic communicative device varying within and under the influence of the historic, socio and cultural linguistic context. The major emphasis of the article is the concept of “American football” as a means of understanding American cultural mind set and source of equivocal euphemistic vocabulary. The paper explores some American cultural traits and values (related to sports traditions and rules) that are deeply impressed in mind and influence language choice: individualism, high risks, strategic planning, obsession with technology, competitiveness, religious affiliation, nationalist beliefs and aggressive business behaviour. The article highlights the popularity of American football and sports in the USA that results in the corresponding euphemistic vocabulary generation. Some sports terms borrowed from American football get in general use and are widely employed in political rhetoric and everyday speech. Therefore, American euphemisms are believed to be a class of their own, principally because they involve American realia and appeal to basic American values, thus becoming challenging to decipher for outsiders and at the same time sounding familiar and picturesque to American English speakers. The author aims at a scientific justification and description of practical ways to use video resources to increase motivation for learning foreign languages among students of technical universities. Material and methods. The work is based on the provisions of regulatory documents that determine the guidelines for teaching foreign languages in technical universities, the provisions of the technology of working with video resources, which is especially relevant in language education today, and the methodological focus of the organization of teaching the discipline “Foreign Language in Professional Activities”. The author works out and implements a complex of foreign language lessons with the use of video resources for students and carries out a methodical experiment aiming at estimating the method efficiency for increasing technical university students’ motivation to foreign languages learning. Results and discussion. Following the technology of video resources use in the learning process the author presents the stages of the work organization and gives the examples of the tasks on each of the stages for the students in the field of technical specialties. The article presents the methodical experiment results which prove the efficiency of video resources use for increasing students’ motivation to learning a foreign language. The author also mentions the conditions of organization of such work with students which gives positive results. Conclusions. The work with video resources in the digital age is an efficient way of technical university students` motivating to learning the foreign language for both general and specific purposes. | 2587 | Sacral and ordinary components of fire in the linguistic worldview of Selkups are specified and described. In mythoepic perception fire connects the Upper, Middle and Lower worlds. Important status of fire is represented by big amount of restrictions and rules which violation is followed by negative consequences not only for one person but for the whole generation. In Selkup lexical unit tǖ ‘fire’ relates to animate nouns, and fire itself is perceived by Selkup as a living organism. As any other living organisms, fire is born, lives and dies. As a moment of birth of fire shall be considered a moment of its kindling – innä cotyqo ‘to kindle’. To support its life fire needs a feed – wood (tǖj apsot). The process of burning is to be considered as a continuous repast of fire: tǖ awēšpįgu ‘to burn’, literally tǖ ‘fire’, awēšpįgu ‘to eat’. Life cycle is finished by “death” of fire – extinction: illä qapteǯegu ‘to extinct’. Fire is given with vivific power and ability to wake the dead. In folk literature and Selkup mythology fire is personified with the figure of Lady of fire (tǖn amba). | 2588 | Introduction. The study focuses on news discourse and on its persuasive dimension in particular. News discourse has a number of standard strategies to promote the persuasive process for assertions. If propositions are to be accepted as true or plausible, there must be special means to enhance their appearance of truth and plausibility. Material and methods. The theoretical perspective of the paper is the critical epistemic discourse analysis proposed by T. A. van Dijk. The paper considers mental representation of the event nominated in British and American mass media as RUSSIAN SPY POISONING. Results and discussion. The study highlights the evasion strategy as a form of discourse-based mental influence in news discourse. From a pragmatic approach evasion is viewed as violation of one of the conversational maxims formulated by P. Grice which requires contributions to conversations to be truthful. The author claims that the aim of the evasion strategy in representing news is to discursively emphasize those properties of mental models that are consistent with the interests of the dominant social groups and discursively deemphasize those properties that are inconsistent with their interests. Consequently, evasion strategy results in partial, incomplete or biased understanding of the news story in the interests of a dominant social group. Evasion presupposes formulation of meanings in such a way that they are not merely understood but also accepted as the truth or at least as a possible truth. The article discusses strategic devices of evasion like hedging, referential vagueness, focus shift, selective use of evidential and epistemic markers, half truth. Conclusion. The author comes to the conclusion that evasion strategy contributes to the formation or reactivation of preferred mental models and may thus be used in manipulative discourse use. | 2600 | The present article deals with the problem of sacral, unfathomable, and has the purpose to trace the sacral and its representation in the old Germanic concept “thing”, also it tries to see the analogy with the German concept “Ding” as well as partially with the English “thing” and has a look at these concepts form the etymological viewpoint. In the process of our research we addressed the work by M. Heidegger “Das Ding”, paid attention to the symbol “der Krug”, referred by Heidegger to the concept “Ding” and to the symbol “das Geviert” which fully expresses the essence of “der Krug” according to Heidegger. “Das Geviert” in its turn is referred to the concept “thing” which implies such elements as “assembly”, “council”, “court”, “lawsuit”, “plea”, “public assembly”.
