| 2625 | The purpose of the article is to analyze the specifics of the representation of the family value dominants existing in Russian culture, presented in the textbooks on Russian as a foreign language by Russian and foreign authors. The material of the study are textbooks on Russian as a foreign language by Russian, Chinese and English-speaking authors written in the period from 2007–2018, with a total volume of more than 3,100 pages. We selected dialogues and narrative texts related to the topic of “family” from these materials using a continuous sampling method, allowing to analyze axiological dominants and linguistic means of their expression in various family aspects. The analysis of the obtained data was carried out using the methods of contextual analysis, lexical and semantic as well as comparative analysis. Family is one of the main value dominants for the Russian people. In textbooks on Russian as a foreign language, Russian authors mainly use positive value judgments, neutral or negative value judgments are used rarely. Chinese authors of the textbooks on the Russian language broadcast mainly a positive assessment of the family institute. English-speaking authors prefer neutral connotations. Individual parameters are also evaluated in different ways. In relationship between spouses, Russian authors often promote husband’s authority. Considering family responsibilities, household management is assigned exclusively to a woman, while work is typical for both men and women. Foreign authors mainly present in their textbooks a model of joint household management; husband’s authority in their works is not mentioned. Children are the dominant value in most cultures, however, it was found that when referring to children, Chinese authors use exclusively neutral vocabulary, while Russian and English-speaking authors prefer emotional expressions (mostly positive, less often negative). When describing the relationship to older relatives (especially grandmothers), Russian authors use value judgments that are of an exceptionally positive nature. In contrast, Chinese authors use a neutral assessment of grandparents. English-speaking authors in their works do not describe the relationships between children and grandparents. Among Russian and foreign authors there is also a variability in the specifics of describing the relationship between parents and their children. Unlike English-speaking authors, who do not focus on the mutual relationship of children and parents and use mostly neutral vocabulary when describing this value category, Russian and Chinese authors emphasize respect for parents and mutual concern. The analysis showed, that despite the general ideas about good and approved that exist in different cultures, the authors of the textbooks on the Russian language implicitly represent the value orientations inherent in their culture. The specificity is determined not only by the differences in the choice of certain lexical groups, but also in the subconscious emphasis on values that are significant for the culture of the authors of the materials. Keywords: Russian as a foreign language, linguodidactic manual, family, axiological dominant, linguoculturological aspect | 1976 | |||||

| 2635 | The article provides a typology of borrowed Gallic words within the contemporary literary German language based on a grid of criteria allowing a most holistic description of the symptomatic phenomena inside the borrowed Gallic stratum: 1) on the lexical-semantic criterion, 2) on the assimilation specificity, 3) on the way of borrowing, 4) on the method of derivation and 5) composition. For the first time such typological phenomena as re-borrowing, reverse borrowing and formal-structural accommodation, as well as former pseudo-Francization, are interpreted. Typology refers to the structural-systematic features of the studied lexical stratum. The selection of types of borrowed Gallicisms in the modern German literary language involves a number of theoretical and methodological difficulties. This is due to the volatility of the proposed taxonomic criteria, on the one hand, and difficulties in determining the status of borrowing, in particular, in the matter of delimiting it from the concept of a “foreign language”, on the other. The typology of Gallic borrowings functioning within the German literary idiom is of great importance for synchronous codification practices and general lexicography. Appeal to the issues of assimilation (adaptation) of this vocabulary segment of the German literary idiom is inevitable due to the multidimensionality and multilevel processes of integrating the Gallic heritage into the system of the German literary language. The historical unevenness of assimilation determines the existence of only synchronous taxonomic set that testifiesto the dynamism of the studied processes in the canvas of the historical development of the German literary language. | 2636 | Introduction. Valery Ronshin’s works belong to the phenomenon of the two-address literature, i.e. they are focused on children’s and adult audiences and contain considerable pedagogical potential by actualizing important moral and ethical problems for the education of teenagers and children. On the other hand, the simplified form of narration that does not require reader’s considerable intelligent efforts, as well as the use of devices of the popular literature show the author’s attempt to entertain, amuse the reader. The aim of the work is to analyse Ronshin’s “horror stories” and to prove that his works concern popular literature. Material and methods. The material of the research is the works by Ronshin written in the genre of “horror story” (by the author’s definition). In the paper, the methods of comparative and motive the analysis are used. As a theoretical base, the works of Russian literary critics were used: E. M. Meletinsky, M. A. Chernyak, O. N. Grechina, M. V. Osorina, E. A. Polevaya, A. I. Kulyapin. Results and discussion. Valery Ronshin uses images, motives, genres of traditional folklore (a horror story, a fairy tale, a joke, sadistic rhymes) that are familiar to each reader since childhood. In such a way, the author accomplishes, firstly, the effect of the recognition facilitating the reader perception of similar works, secondly, the task to entertain is realized. In spite of the fact that Ronshin’s books are focused on the children’s audience, which is shown by a colourful cover, illustrations in “naïve” or children’s style, the use of traditional children’s folklore genres, his works are addressed to the adult audience as they contain the elements of black humour, the comic devices that are aimed at adults (alogism, devices of discrepancy of the used means, discrepancies of hero’s behaviour to the circumstances, invectives), elements of physiologism. The central problem of the analyzed works is a pedagogical incapacity of parents, unreadiness to the dialogue with children. Conclusion. Valery Ronshin creates works actualizing important educational problems, uses formulas and devices of folklore genres with the purpose to amuse, entertain the reader. His stories should be attributed to the phenomenon of popular literature that inherently aimed at entertainment, escapism, the use of traditional plots and genres. | 2637 | Introduction. The study focuses on news discourse and on its persuasive dimension in particular. News discourse has a number of standard strategies to promote the persuasive process for assertions. If propositions are to be accepted as true or plausible, there must be special means to enhance their appearance of truth and plausibility. Material and methods. The theoretical perspective of the paper is the critical epistemic discourse analysis proposed by T. A. van Dijk. The paper considers mental representation of the event nominated in British and American mass media as RUSSIAN SPY POISONING. Results and discussion. The study highlights the evasion strategy as a form of discourse-based mental influence in news discourse. From a pragmatic approach evasion is viewed as violation of one of the conversational maxims formulated by P. Grice which requires contributions to conversations to be truthful. The author claims that the aim of the evasion strategy in representing news is to discursively emphasize those properties of mental models that are consistent with the interests of the dominant social groups and discursively deemphasize those properties that are inconsistent with their interests. Consequently, evasion strategy results in partial, incomplete or biased understanding of the news story in the interests of a dominant social group. Evasion presupposes formulation of meanings in such a way that they are not merely understood but also accepted as the truth or at least as a possible truth. The article discusses strategic devices of evasion like hedging, referential vagueness, focus shift, selective use of evidential and epistemic markers, half truth. Conclusion. The author comes to the conclusion that evasion strategy contributes to the formation or reactivation of preferred mental models and may thus be used in manipulative discourse use.
